✨ SERIES REVIEW ✨
Shades of Magic: The Steel Prince by VE Schwab
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Volume 1: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Volume 2: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Volume 3: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
[instagram]
These graphic novels were a lot of fun. Honestly, I’d read just about anything set in the Shades of Magic universe, but it was great seeing king Maxim as a young prince trying to prove himself.
I absolutely adored Isra from the moment I set eyes on her and her being a lesbian just cemented her as my fave. She’s fierce and loyal and has her own strong moral code. She’s an absolute firecracker character with a soft spot for Maxim which I loved watching play out.
Maxim really grows over these stories from a pampered prince into a real leader and it was rather wonderful to watch.
The plots of all three of these were fun and exciting and gripping. I especially loved the second volume with its four trials.
I absolutely need more from this. I will devour anything and everything.

Book review: The Shades of Magic by V.E. Schawb
Rating:
A darker shade of magic - 4⭐️
A gathering of shadows - 5⭐️
A conjuring of light - 4⭐️
The Steel Prince - 3⭐️
Night of Knives - 3⭐️
The Rebel Army - 3⭐️
Some day, if you are looking for a light, exciting read, in a simple world but with its own complexity, you have just found the right trilogy. The Shades of Magic saga consists of a story where there are 4 London’s; the Black, where magic "destroyed" the world; the White, where you feel the effects of what happened to the Black; the Red, where magic flourishes; and the Grey, where there is no magic. And then there are some humans, Antari, who can travel between the worlds. However, with the destruction of Black London, the Antari were almost all wiped out by fear of the plague that hit Black London. So only two Antari remain, one in Red London and one in White London. Giving some background while trying not to spoil too much; the story develops when the Antari of Red London takes with him an object that should not have left White London. And chaos ensues.
I must say that the plot and the world that V.E. Schawb created in these books was interesting and original. And kept me hooked for a long time. But I agree with what I've been reading in certain reviews. While I liked all the characters, even the villain who wasn't a traditional villain (he simply wanted more and more power, not caring about the evil he was creating), Lila Bard managed to annoy me most of the times. There seemed to be no consequences for what she did. Certain details like that made me itchy.
But despite all that, I really enjoyed the saga. The first book started off slow, but then I got the rhythm right and the mood to read it. In the second book I read it all in one day, from how hooked in I was. And in the third book, it was slower, but just as good.
About the comics, they are perfect to satiate the curiosity that comes after reading Shades Of Magic. I feel like if they were actually books, it wouldn't have been as good as it was reading the comics. Furthermore, the design is brutal, really really good and I was left wanting more stories about Rhy's dad.

Note
What is the reading order for all of the adsom books?
A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic Trilogy 1)
A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic Trilogy 2)
A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic Trilogy 3)
The Fragile Threads of Power (Threads of Power Trilogy 1)
That's what's our yet. Then there's also the graphic novels: The Steel Prince, The Night of Knives, The Rebel Army. I read those recently. They are prequels about Maxim. To be frank, I don't think you'd have to read them. It wasn't anything that that special, but if you did, I'd do it after finishing the SOM trilogy or later.
There's also some short stories that I've never known how to read, so idk about those. There will be two more books sometime.

Lord of Lard part 3 (WG story)
Themes: magic-induced weight gain, fantasy-setting, weight-related spells
Words: 2815
Part: 3/?
The part of the castle in which Dosian stayed was much nicer than Kersev’s prison tower. In fact, it was lavish. The floor was made of perfectly polished grey marble, the walls were painted in intricate, elaborate flower designs, the hallway through which the guard was leading Kersev was wide and spacious, every door they passed had complicated, well-made wood carvings on it and was painted in white and gold.
They stood in front of a double-winged door, as elaborate as all the rest but with a massive gold locking mechanism keeping it shut. The mechanism resembled a clockface but with a multitude of smaller and bigger circular gears. It was opened by a surprisingly tiny key which the guard turned twice setting the mechanism in motion, all the gears shifting and grinding against each other.
With an ominous creak, the doors opened.
“Inside!” The Guard jabbed Kersev in the back and as soon as he waddled inside, the door shut firmly behind him.
Kersev found himself in a large, richly decorated room. Everything was in shades of pink, gold and white. Like a room for the Queen’s beloved Poodle, Kersev couldn’t help thinking. There was a large fireplace in front of which stood an enormous bathtub, almost as large as a small pool. There was a wide, sturdy-looking couch stacked high with pillows and in front of it an enormous low table, filled to the brim with fruit, all types of beautiful, mouth-watering desserts and cakes drizzled in chocolate and stacked high with heavy whipped cream. Dosian’s favourite white cream cake with exotic fruit stood in the centre, enormous and so overfilled with cream it was a marvel to Kersev that it was still standing up.
There was a chaise longue next to which stood a beautiful white harp and a lyre rested against one of the pillows. Next to the window stood an easel with an unfinished painting of flowers on it, Kersev recognised Dosian’s brush immediately. In front of the easel stood a wide wooden bench.
There was an enormous wardrobe, undoubtedly filled to the brim with outlandish, revealing garments suited well for the Dark Lord’s favourite pet.
The last thing in the room was a truly gigantic bed with a gauzy, delicate canopy. There were steps leading up to it, despite it being a regular height for a bed.
Under the canopy, resting against a thousand pillows laid, or rather half-sat Dosian. It’s been months since Kersev saw him and he could tell Dosian was even fatter than before. His gargantuan, swollen legs were spread wide to accommodate for the unbelievable mass of his belly spilling in front of him, taking up a significant portion of the bed. Everything on him seemed bigger, more overstuffed with lard, softer, fuller… His arms, his neck, his chest, even his beautiful face. It was all being swallowed by new fat folds and bulges.
Kersev waddled to the bed. Dosian seemed to have been asleep, or at least dozing, his eyes closed and his chest moving slowly.
“My love…” He whispered, laboriously climbing the few stairs to get to the bed.
Dosian opened his eyes almost immediately, pure shock registering on his beautiful face before his eyes filled with tears.
“My Prince…” Dosian croaked, turning his face away “Please look not upon me in such a state…”
“Cease the formalities, Dosian! Look at me!” Kersev shook Dosian’s arm making his entire body jiggle, he didn’t stop until Dosian looked up at him, his alabaster skin flushed and his emerald eyes filled with tears. “There you are…” Kersev stroked Dosian’s soft cheek gently “By the Spirits, I believed you dead for over five years…”
“I wish I were dead, My Prince…”
“Never” Kersev’s voice was hard as steel “Say that again. Ever. I could not be happier that you’re alive.”
“Look at me…” Dosian almost whined, grabbing a handful of his side roll and shaking it “I’m enormous….”
“That doesn’t matter.” Kersev managed to sit next to Dosian, the massive bed somehow accommodating both of their hefty frames. “Look at me, I’m not the Prince you left behind either, am I?” He shook his own gut and watched it jiggle with a sick fascination, still hardly believing it was his body.
“He’s an evil, twisted thing…” Dosian whispered, “I will never forgive him for doing this to you.”
“If he didn’t do this to me, I would’ve never been able to see you again.” Kersev kissed Dosian.
Their fat bodies felt unfamiliar with each other, even their fat faces felt different. But the touch of Dosian’s lips, his fresh, sweet meadow smell felt as familiar as if they were never parted at all.
“I’m sorry I was too weak to escape…” Dosian pleaded, resting his head against Kersev’s chest. “Don’t be ridiculous, my beloved.” Kersev stroked Dosian’s pale hair “You’re an artist, a musician, a dancer, not a Knight Mage! Not even a regular knight! How could you possibly stand against someone like Him? No, my love, the fault is mine. I should’ve known he was too wicked to just kill you without a devious plan at hand. I should’ve looked for you until I succeeded. Instead, I wasted five years on training and dreaming of revenge just to be defeated immediately and have this damnable collar put on me.” Kersev punched the collar against his neck angrily. Truthfully, it was not the same collar, he was way too fat for the first one now. But that only made it worse; the knowledge that while he was deep in another food coma someone removed his collar to replace it. He’d become so fat and sluggish that he wasted such a perfect opportunity to escape.
Dosian looked at his own wrists where two heavy, ornamental bracelets were digging into his fat forearms. Even through his magic-dimming collar, Kersev could sense they served the same function.
Kersev’s training was telling him that he should use every opportunity to plot their escape, but even that rational part of himself was helpless against his starved heart that more than anything yearned to be with his lover.
“Do many people come here?” Kersev asked, reaching behind Dosian to play with his thick braid; a habit he’d assumed to be long lost.
“Not really. They fill the table in the morning and I have to clean it out by the next morning, otherwise, they will punish me, but other than that they let me be. Unless He wants me, then someone comes to take me to him, He doesn’t come here.”
“What happens when he wants you…?”
“Usually it’s to feed new slaves, to scare them by how big I am…” Dosian croaked, absent-mindedly smoothing out the delicate, sheer fabric that covered his massive belly. “But sometimes he wants me for himself.”
“And then what happens…?” Kersev asked calmly, feeling anything but calm.
“Usually he wants me to feed him, or he wants to feed me. Sometimes he wants me to sing. He used to make me dance for him but I’m too big now… And sometimes he wants me to pleasure him…”
Kersev clutched his fists so tight his knuckles cracked.
“But he never touches me!” Dosian rushed to explain, his eyes pleading “He never wants to enter me, he just wants me to touch him. I’m nobody’s but yours, My Prince.”
“Oh Dosian, my love, I’m not mad at you, I could never be mad at you.” He kissed Dosian’s warm forehead “I’m mad, furious, at Him. And myself.”
“You needn’t be angry with yourself, you came to me, My Prince…” Dosian bowed his head low, reverently taking Kersev’s pudgy hand in both of his and kissing the knuckles gently. “I missed you so. Not a day has passed when I didn’t think about you when I didn’t dream about us being together again…”
“Would you allow me to make love to you, my sweet darling…?” Kersev kissed the corner of Dosian’s mouth gently.
Dosian’s face took on a look of terror, he looked down at himself, smoothed out the sheer fabric again, looked away.
“But I’m…”
Kersev cupped both of Dosian’s cheeks and forced him to once again look Kersev in the eye.
“You’re perfect, my love.”
“But…”
“I lost you for over five years. I’m not losing you for a moment longer.”
A single tear rolled down Dosian’s flushed face and Kersev kissed it away.
“But how…?” Dosian asked, looking between their two bodies, Kersev’s massive body that was still somehow clinging to its mobility and his own that was probably only months if not weeks away from being too massive to ever move again unless aided by magic.
“Do you think you can turn face down and bend your knees?”
Dosian looked hesitant but he nodded. The Duke took a deep breath and started rocking his enormous bulk to the left. The folds upon folds of fat began to sway from side to side with the movement. Dosian tried throwing himself to the side, but he didn’t build up enough momentum for his body to move. He let out a soft, but obviously frustrated groan and began rocking again. This time, when he threw himself to the side Kersev grabbed him, pushing as hard as he could, his fat-encased muscles straining against the enormous bulk. Together, they managed to flop Dosian onto his belly, revealing the fat rolls covering his soft, pale back and his wide, unbelievably hefty ass.
Kersev kissed Dosian’s head as he panted with effort. His belly was so enormous that when he laid on it Dosian’s ass was pretty much up in the air already. Kersev’s heart clenched as seeing how exhausted Dosian was just after changing positions when once upon a time he could dance at the King’s Court from dusk till dawn to the delight of every guest and then still have enough energy to make passionate love with Kersev in the pale hours of the morning.
“I missed you, my beloved Duke, I missed you so…” Kersev spoke as he shuffled around the bed to kneel behind Dosian.
Kersev run his swollen fingers across the immense globes of Dosian’s ass, he squeezed his sides, peppered kisses across his back... Kersev worshipped his lover as best as their overfed bodies would allow them. It was different, it would probably never be how it was before, but what mattered was that his Duke, the true and only love of his heart was still alive.
When Kersev entered Dorian they both gasped, struck speechless by the familiarity, by the connection they thought they’d never feel again.
“More…” Dosian pleaded. He shifted from laying face down to resting on his elbows, bobbing his head and swaying his enormous body slightly.
And Kersev gave him more, his grunts and Dosian’s little panting noises filled the room. Kersev was almost at his climax when suddenly, out of nowhere something changed.
“Ah, young love reunited. How wonderful.” The Dark Lord let out a sigh. He lay sprawled on Dosian’s pink chaise longue, eating a chocolate-drizzled pastry.
Kersev wanted to move, to cover Dosian, to do something. Only, he couldn’t.
In fact, he couldn’t move at all.
“Release us!” He spat, relieved to find at least his head wasn’t under the spell.
“I think not.” The Dark Lord said matter-of-factly, getting up from his seat and walking over to the bed with a devilish smile, his obscenely tight garments showing every bounce and jiggle of his fat flesh. “Your beautiful love warms my cold heart, I wouldn’t want to let it go so quickly.” He brushed a long nail along Dosian’s cheek and smiled even wider when Kersev growled.
“Worry not, dear Prince, I wouldn’t hurt my favourite pet.” He scratched Dosian’s double chin as if scratching a cat “I do worry, however. You’re making him burn all that fuel I so graciously put into him, he will waste away, the poor thing!”
Kersev’s blood ran cold as he watched their captor bring the entire massive table closer to the bed with one mindless wave of his hand. He reached for a palm-sized pastry stacked high with whipped cream and sugar-glazed strawberries.
“Open wide, my sweet boy.” The Dark Lord said, his yellow eyes glinting as he stuffed the entire thing in Dosian’s mouth, smearing sugar glaze and whipped cream around his lips and on his fat chin.
“Leave him alone!” Kersev yelled, still unable to move, still deep inside his lover. He was so overcome with rage and humiliation that it surprised even him. He’d have thought that it was impossible to be more humiliated and degraded than he’d been in all these months of captivity. But once again, he underestimated The Dark Lord.
“Oh, do you feel left out, Your Highness?” The Dark Lord reached for another pastry, stuffed with caramel and creamed that oozed out of it. He stuffed it into Kersev’s mouth almost violently, all the while smiling almost sweetly.
“No, please, feed me, My Lord…” Dosian pleaded desperately. Kersev could only see the side of his face, but still, it made his heart clench. There was cream on his fat cheeks and tears in his green eyes. His Dosian, overfed almost to the point of immobility, his soft flesh so overstuffed with fat it didn’t even resemble him anymore… His Dosian, begging to be fed more to spare Kersev’s pathetic life. The life which he already lost when he got captured, the life which he didn’t deserve.
“What do we have to do for you to release the spell?!” Kersev demanded, his own eyes stinging with tears.
“Why, clear the table, of course.” “T-that’s…. Impossible!” Kersev stared at the table overflowing with food.
“Oh, you underestimate your new body, my dear Prince.” The Dark Lord smiled, grabbing Kersev’s fat gut and giving it a solid shake. “And you definitely underestimate my favourite pet. This beautiful body didn’t come from nothing.” the Lord ran an appreciative hand over Dosian’s massive ass and along his back. He reached for a platted with an entire vanilla cake on it. Not even bothering with cutting it into pieces, he took a spoon and began stuffing it into Dosian’s face at an alarming rate. To Kersev’s surprise, his sweet Dosian was keeping up admirably, swallowing as soon as the Lord stuffed it into his face. Within seconds, it seemed, the entire cake fit for a party of twelve was gone, the only remnants of it the cream smeared on Dosian’s face.
“See? He’s such a good, sweet boy.” The Dark Lord patted Dosian’s fat cheek, slowly turning his devilish gaze on Kersev “Now, your turn.”
He took a metal pitcher of something off the table and grabbing Kersev by the hair pulled his head back. “Open wide, Your Highness.” He sing-sang, pressing the pitcher to Kersev’s lips and tilting it.
It was overpoweringly sweet and at first, Kersev thought it was honeymeed, but soon he realised it was much thicker than that. It was just… Honey. The Dark Lord poured an entire pitcher of fresh, liquid honey down his throat. And Kersev swallowed every last drop if it only meant it was one less thing The Dark Lord would feed his Dosian.
The Dark Lord kept stuffing more and more sugary sweets and cakes into them. Soon, Kersev’s stomach was so stuffed that he nearly forgot about the fact he was still naked and inside of Dosian. It seemed a small discomfort compared to how tight and bloated his stomach became.
“Here you go.” The Dark Lord put a pastry against his lips but Kersev shook his head.
“I can’t…. I can’t…” He panted, finding even speaking painful with how stuffed he was.
“Give it to me, My Lord! I’m not even satiated yet.” Dosian urged, even though he’d probably eaten more in the past hour than an entire family of four ate in a week.
“I trained you well, sweet boy.” The Dark Lord’s eyes burned with magical power as he stuffed an entire handful of cake into Dosian’s mouth, not bothering with utensils anymore.
Kersev panted, his stomach so full he was unable to think of anything else but the pain and the slow, simmering anger as he watched The Dark Lord slowly kill his beloved in a way much more cruel than simply killing him with weapons.
“Last bite” The Dark Lord sang, stuffing one last handful of chocolate cake into Dosian’s mouth.
As soon as he swallowed the spell released them and Kersev slid out of Dosian, falling to the bed, his enormous, swollen belly sticking up in the air. He panted, tears streaming down his face.
“My Lord, can we have a bath?” Dosian asked in a perfect, docile pet voice.
“Of course my sweet, you’re all filthy!”
And with that, he was gone. And so was the last shred of Kersev’s dignity.

prince rêve lucide (the sona character not real life me) Facts
prince and deity of the stars, lesser deity of sleep, dreams, and rainbows
over a billion years old but still as childish as ever
cheery, energetic, compassionate, silly, and friendly!
socially anxious, lazy, conflict avoidant, forgetful, low confidence...
fear of bugs & spiders, no matter how strong and cool an entity they are!!!!!
the star marks on their cheeks glow in the dark!
they live primarily in a little pocket dimension they carved out for themselves where they live in a fairytale castle in the middle of a small field of blue grass, all decorated in his favourite things
primary divine job is maintaining the stars; rotating them to the right axis, taking on excess magic charge from them, making sure they're not on collision courses with each other, not going to supernova prematurely, not going to destroy innocent worlds if they do need to supernova, assists in the birth of natural stars...
can also create his own stars simply by blowing; one big one like a bubblegum bubble, or many little ones like using a bubble wand!
he even eats stars. they crunch like apples, and taste like raw sugar. (to him, anyway.)
their blood is a dark purple shade, and sparkles faintly when still fresh. turns a bluish shade when dried. also contains trace amounts of helium.
they are able to float and hover, and begin doing so from the ground with a hop, a skip, and a jump!
they are able to fly long distances, more easily so in space due to the lack of air resistance. their physical feathered wings are tiny, but larger wings made of light appear connected to them when they're in use
the large pink ribbon they wear that he calls his 'Bibibon' can magically change his costume depending on where it's positioned on his hair/body. his additional outfits include a masquerade ball (poison), magician (light), magical boy (sound), thunderstorm raincoat (water/electric), pyjamas (sleepy), knight armour (steel/metal), summer swimsuit (water), thick winter coat (snow), and jester (explosions)!
(the summer and winter forms are for style, though. technically, he's immune to temperature. he can feel them, but is not affected by super high or low temperatures.)
the little multicoloured spots on the white fluffy wool of their costumes are actually little sprinkles!
he's a sleepy boy that loves to dream. and as one with divine stakes in sleep, sometimes he falls asleep for days, if not weeks, months, or years at a time...
a gap between some hills in his little home realm and the edge of the pocket dimension's bubble are full to the brim with dream magics, and create a smaller pocket dimension of dreams, mostly just the ones he has himself, that one can wander near infinitely in and do pretty much whatever they want there. staying in there too long can cause lasting physical and mental damage, though. he has no control over what does and doesn't appear in there.
the space pattern inside their clothes is a hammer space, though living things cannot be stored within it.

Not a question but I am reading the Steel Prince graphic novels rn which are a prequel to the Shades of Magic Trilogy, and between that and the knowledge that you are reading it, I am so freaking tempted to reread. I mean I am always tempted to reread. (I have only read AGOS three times and ACOL twice while I've read ADSOM four times, so I might need to make it more equal. Plus, I really love AGOS. I do not want to have to carry it around when the school year starts. Sorry I am full out rambling in your inbox now.)
No you’re good! I did not realize there was a prequel. Honestly I am not sure how many books there are in this series. But it would be very fun to both read it at roughly the same time!

Euron Greyjoy, The Night King, and The Bloodstone Emperor.
They are the same person, Cersei is also the Night's Queen, and here's why. Keep in mind, we have not actually seen the Night King yet in the books, he wasn't reported to have been present at Hardhome, or at the Fist.
Euron is clearly plotting some kind of massive eldritch apocalypse type event, I believe he is plotting the second Long Night. Remember, it doesn't start snowing in KL until after he returns from Essos.
So, here's where the three connect for me. I honestly think I'm alone in this theory, but here I go...
The Bloodstone Emperor initiated the first Long Night in Essos by conducting the 'Blood Betrayal' - overthrowing his sister, the Amethyst Empress, in a massive imperial coup. He founded the Church of Starry Wisdom, worshipped a black stone that had fallen from the sky, and took a 'Tiger Woman' to be his wife. He may have also founded Asshai and been a dragon lord.
The Night King was a brother of the Night's Watch, garrisoned at the Nightfort. He too began worshipping strange gods, deserted his post, and married an Other called the 'Night's Queen'. He also may have been a Stark, but that's not important.
Euron prays to the drowned god, but has green dreams of some sort. Has Valyrian steel armour, has possession of Dragonbinder, overthrows both Balon and Asha's claim to the Seastone throne (a blood betrayal), and has been training magic in Qarth - taking Shade of the Evening. He is plotting his very own apocalypse.
So, here's where things get hairy. But, I think Euron's plan as Bloodstone Emperor reborn and future Night King is as follows.
Take some kind of throne, to give himself legitimacy.✔
Take possession of magical relics.✔
Study seeing in order to access past memories of his past self.✔
Overthrow a relative who has a stronger right to the throne.✔
Marry a powerful woman.
Attain a dragon.
Bring down The Wall.
Start the second Long Night.
Spread chaos around the known world.
But, it is mentioned that the Wall can only be brought down by the Horn of Joramun, currently in possession of Sam Tarly who is in Oldtown studying to become a Maester. However, Euron is currently en route to Oldtown, I believe he will attain Joramun's horn at this stage, taking possession of both horns.
I therefore believe the Dragonbinder will be used to resurrect either an Ice Dragon, or to revive the possible dragon ridden by the Bloodstone Emperor.
Euron's Powerful Wife
Euron states his intent quite early in his time in the books to marry Daenerys for her dragons. But, I don't believe he'll actually get there. Because:
She's already married to Hizdahr at this stage, and has no polygamist leanings as far as we know.
Every hint in the books tells us she is destined to marry Jon Snow, they are the Prince and Princess Who Are Promised, the divine dichotomy of the story.
This, I believe, is where Cersei comes in.
The Night King's wife is noted to already be a Queen when they get together, Dany is becoming a queen and will most likely be titled as an Empress if she wins her throne. Cersei, however, has been queen for most of her adult life, and is a cold hearted woman. Dany is all warmth and fire, not exactly Night's Queen material, is she?
The Bloodstone Emperor married a supposed 'tiger woman'. A woman themed around big cats became an evil emperor's empress. Cersei is a Lannister, a 'lion woman' of sorts. George loves to play with history repeating itself off-center like this. Euron will get his Night's Queen in a Lion Woman, becoming both Night King and Bloodstone Emperor reborn.
So, Euron and Cersei are the ultimate big bads of the story. But, by the time Jon and Dany step into their joint role as Azor Ahai reborn, they won't be Euron and Cersei anymore.
Euron will:
Become the Night King/Bloodstone Emperor.
Take Cersei as his wife.
Go north.
Resurrect his past self's dragon in the Heart of Winter.
And bring down the wall.
Cersei at his side for all of it.
They're all the same: Bloodstone Emperor, Night King, Crow's Eye. Night's Queen, Tiger Woman, Queen Lioness. All are the wheel, spinning around in perpetuity, crushing those beneath them, and new ones will arise to take their place if the cycle isn't broken. So, dear reader, you may be asking...
Where Do Jon and Dany Come In?
Jon and Dany will have to be united, theirs will be the new song of ice and fire. I fully believe they'll venture deep into the north together, possibly in an effort to kill Euron and Cersei before any larger scale war can break out.
Jon and Dany will likely find out about their bond before they get married, and will absolutely step up as co-saviours of the world. You see, Euron hasn't accounted for one saviour, let alone two.
They'll initiate things from Castle Black, alone at first. Then, the fight moves south to Winterfell, where they will command the living against the others. Then, another Battle Above the God's Eye. I think Cersei by this point will already be dead, killed by either Jaime or by Dany with Dark Sister - retrieved from Bloodraven's cave.
Then, an epic aerial battle above Dragonstone, a final fight against Euron achingly close to the Red Keep.
This is it, their last stand, if this doesn't work, nothing will. Their armies are a month away by land, their naval force are at White Harbour. It's down to them, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion.
The undead dragon is taken down by the triplets, leaving Jon and Dany to try and kill Euron on land. And, they do, Dany plunging Dark Sister through his back, Jon attacking from the front with Longclaw.
At Winterfell, all will go silent, as the sky clears for the first time in over a year, the wights falling in their droves, and the war is over. Euron's apocalypse is averted, and Cersei is dead.
At Dragonstone, Jon and Daenerys collapse on the sand, alive, but so tired from all the fighting. The triplets fly in rings above the island, their riders triumphant.
And so begins, the restoration.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tell me your thoughts, but this has been a pet theory of mine for ages. To me it just makes so much sense, especially with George's love of narrative balance. If Jon is gonna face the Night King who is a dark reflection of himself, Dany will have to contend with a Night's Queen who is a dark reflection of herself.
BABE WIP ASK
📝❔👻🔍
THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT 😌
❔Choose a random WIP and talk about it.
A child ran out of the forest one day. It’s the opposite story of running into a forest and never coming out. She runs into the light, the night sky which blazes bright. Her wings burn off, her magic buried by the wonders of electricity. Grass becomes cement, and the trees far sparser than the home she knew. The canopy over her head is made of glass and steel.
Okay, so not quite a WIP, but more the prompt I’ve made for myself to revisit later. I read a Fae story a long time ago about Connor and have always been so sad it never got picked up. So I kinda wanted to try a fantastical, ethereal, and smidge of dangerous Connor, the Fae Prince, trying to lure her back into the woods where she belongs.
Not sure where it’ll go, but it’s sitting there in my notes LOL.
📝Share a snippet of an unposted WIP, with or without context.
You’re resting on your back in the shade of the twisted brown trunk. There’s a thick, knitted blanket of multicolored geometric patterns which protect you from the sharpness of fresh cut grass. Picnic treats are laid out around a basket. It’s a buffet of wrapped sandwiches, washed fruit, and cold packaged juice boxes. Up above, cottony swirls of clouds drift lazily across the vast blue sky.
“I spy… a unicorn,” comes a voice from nearby.
Tehehe. No context. 🍹
🔍Give a clue (a picture, emoji, a word, etc) and let your followers guess what a WIP is about.
Not scene, but overall story. I have a twin college AU for Connor and Sixty with a reader but I’m blocked on the motivations for Connor’s character. There’s some overlap in him and the boyband AU Connor I had in mind and I kinda didn’t want the college AU to be that deep, so I gotta revisit it.
But basically: they’re both similar in that they are sweet/soft on the outside but skeptical and bored about romance. The college AU is meant to be PWP so I might cut some of the motivators, make it simple, keep him sweet and move that bitterness into my boyband AU which has a fake dating trope. 😏✨✨✨
Ty so much for the ask!!! 💙
Full offense!!!
But the Maresh family is black. Not only are they described as black, but they are drawn, canonly, as black.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So before y’all go drawing art, and writing fanfics, please remember that this family is black, as well as a lot of the citizens. If you lighten the skin, for any reason, that’s whitewashing, and therefore is racist.
*I’m not referring to Kell. We all know canonly he is white.
This series is written by V. E. Schwab
Oh wow!!!, a Shades of Magic/Hunger Games AU is an incredible idea, and I love this so much!  Lila and Alucard in the Katness/Peta roles are perfect.
Reblogging just a small part of @ravencromwell amazing tags, because they gave me so many thoughts:
Kell being #mentored by former victor Maxim Maresh. ~steel prince~ who was suddenly in the awful position of guiding one of his sons through the games. #and none of the other mentors much like Max. esp Holl/Vor because a large part of his strategy is: raise your kill count by driving #through the white tributes early. they're stronger than Grey. But! when Holland was close at the end of his games. he worked some levers #behind the scenes. to fuck Osaron's week when he very. very much didn't want a Maktahn. and especially an Antari. to win. murmurred intel #about ~last-second~ changes etc. and well. Kell's Antari and whether he'll admit it or not. Holland wants him to win. so they're #grudgingly bringing Max food. watching for trouble/allocating his funds to make sure the kid doesn't die while he catches some sleep.
Maxim as a controversial former victor raises so many possibilities.  If he’d gotten on Osaron’s bad side by helping Holland, maybe he went too far and basically guaranteed Rhy a spot in the games.  And Maxim would protect him the only way he could – by adopting Kell and raising him for the express purpose of being Rhy’s personal career tribute.
Tess as another of Barron’s Grey District foundlings.  Lila would claim to have no time for her, would never bleed for her – until the moment Tess is chosen and she volunteers, surprising everyone and herself most of all.
Hastra as the doomed young tribute Kell tried to save in his games.  Beloc as the one Holland knew he couldn’t save.
Nadia Loreni as the rebel inventor whose hate for Osaron and Black London drives her to go too far.
The Dane twins as gamemasters who are secretly rebels, but who are only with the rebellion so they can get rid of Osaron and take over everything in the end.
Holland being a career like Kell, but doing it by choice because he would do anything for his district.  Working with the Danes because he feels he has to. But if he is captured by Osaron, he will betray the rebels and all the other districts if it will keep his own district safe.
Shades of Magic: Hunger Games AU
(Technically a Catching Fire AU)
Lila Bard has always been a survivor. Scrappy and vicious and more durable than anyone else expected. So, once the initial bout of angry swearing is out of her system, she slumps back onto the couch. “They’re trying to kill us. We broke the rules and this is how they do it. One last spectacle for the districts.”
There was only ever supposed to be one victor, never two. They’d defied that with their pretend love story and holding knives to their own throats. Two victors, they had declared. You get two victors or none.
She had hoped this would be the end. One last performance, one last fight, and then finally return to Barron. Return to the Grey Districts.
Neither of them should be here, Alucard especially. Red District-born, only kicked down to her level because of political shenanigans.
“Not just us, Bard,” Alucard drawls. “Every victor. Take them out before they can be swayed by rebellion.”
She can, grudgingly, see the logic. Efficient and more entertaining for the masses. Before it had been children and barely adults in the arena, now it will be experienced killers from every district. “So we’re fucked.”
“Maybe, maybe not.” Alucard fidgets with the coin in his hand. “On the bright side, you’ll get to see what the Red districts look like first.”
...
“No, no, this isn’t right,” Rhy insists. “You did your time, they can’t make you do this again!”
Kell doesn’t argue; they both know this is happening either way. Osaron wants the victors to fight and die in the Quarter Quells and that is what he will get.
It doesn’t matter that they belong to the highest family in Arnes, in the most successful Red District. It doesn’t matter that Rhy is treated as the beloved prince of his people. It hadn’t protected them when they were 14.
He volunteered in Rhy’s place back then, prepared to die for him. He can kill for him again.
“Maybe I won’t get picked,” Kell offers. “The Red Districts, Arnes especially, has produced dozens of victors. I like our odds.”
...
Holland is told of the plot before the others, one of the few benefits of being sponsored by the Danes; they know when to keep him in the loop. At least it gives him time to think up a plan.
“Nasi can’t go back to the arena,” Vortalis says as he moves an ost piece. “She was lucky last year; that won’t save her a second time.”
Vortalis had hunted down and killed half of the other tributes his year; Holland had managed to kill three; Nasi had spent most of the game hiding in the trees and killed one person.
She is still under her bed after hearing the news, refusing to speak or come out.
“Ojka has already agreed to volunteer in her place.” Holland knows he will hate this next part. “I will volunteer as well.”
“Holland-“
“You can’t fight the way you used to,” he interrupts, moving a piece. “I still can.”
Vor moves slower now, weakened by half-healed injuries and the passing decades. Holland can't sleep alone at night without having nightmares but violence comes easily to him now, both his sponsors and former mentor ensured that.
“Besides, you can sway our benefactors more if you’re working on the outside.”
They both know he isn’t speaking only of the Capitol’s elite. The whispers of rebellion have only grown louder over the years. This might be enough for something to change.
Vortalis gives a grim smile then, gripping his hand. “Then we’d best start on figuring out the competition.”
