As for the second rule, please be kind! Allow me to add a side note, if you ask me why I don’t want to talk about politics/religion I will gladly answer that question. Please respect my boundaries. I do not want to block anyone, but this is my safe space and if anyone continues to violate my boundaries after I have politely communicated them, I will have to block them. I love you all, and I hope that we can have fun thirsting over men!
Sincerely,
Clay!

WALDEN - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Uncork'd Entertainment
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: “Walden Dean is a stenographer, whose job has led him to bear witness to all types of injustices in the courtroom. After discovering he has a terminal illness, repressed anger deep within him surfaces - taking justice into his own hands in the most gruesome ways imaginable.” Press notes
REVIEW: Mick Davis’ WALDEN is an interesting blend of Southern gothic and vigilante films with an interesting character at its heart. Walden is a likable innocent soul whose circumstances force him to lose his objectivity and become an avenging angel.
It’s obvious that Davis’ script is influenced by several films. The character of Walden bears a striking similarity to Annie Wilkes from “Misery,” especially due to a scene where he takes his pound of flesh from a nurse who gets away with murder. The story also borrows from 1962’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Walden and his friend George in some ways mirror the relationship between Scout Finch and Boo Radley. While Walden’s initial vengeance feels like a contemporary “Death Wish” film with a dash of violence that doesn't quite reach the level of a “Saw” film, the story does take a darker turn into a David Fincher type tale when it comes to the missing children from the town. Early on Walden meets Emily Duperon, a fellow contestant in a stenography competition. It's an endearing and interesting aspect to the story that ultimately comes to an abrupt ending early on. I would have liked to have seen a more interesting resolution to that story element. The press notes state that Walden has terminal illness, but in his scenes with the physician I came away with the impression it was operable making it a tad confusing.
The locations, production designs, and costumes do a nice job of creating a Southern small town atmosphere. The cinematography looks like a Hallmark/made for TV feel and might have added more atmosphere if they went with more of a “Midnight In the Garden of Good & Evil” look. The editing sets a nice pace for the narrative and sustains the viewers engagement. I like the special and visual effects. They show just enough blood and gore to embrace a more diverse audience. Mathieu Carratier’s score is well done, adding to the atmosphere, but there was nothing memorable, notable, especially in terms of adding to the film’s emotional elements.
WALDEN has a solid ensemble cast. Actor Emile Hirsch, who portrayed Speed in the 2008 film “Speed Racer,” creates a wonderful character with WALDEN. He balances a variety of character traits with a Southern accent. He does an excellent job of sustaining the character’s innocence as he faces his darker demons, rendering a likable and engaging character. Similarly, actor Luke Davis creates the compelling special needs character George who is one of Walden’s few friends. As Emily, actor Kelli Garner creates the quintessential Southern belle with complex intentions toward Walden. Veteran actor David Keith is a natural as the town’s judge.
WALDEN is a complex hybrid of a story with some excellent actors. Director and writer Mick Davis has a full plate and does an impressive job of balancing all the elements of this story. Many of his cinematic references are obvious but he combines them skillfully and with solid characters to serve up an engaging film. Additionally, a talented cast makes for a solid viewing experience.

When Zeldris next came to he was sewhere musky and damp and there was a blindfold over his eyes. There's was shouting, a voice all too familiar,
"ZELDRIS!?"
No... no no no, the man truly had brought him to his brother. He was being used as a hostage against Meliodas!
"C-Captian... you know that guy!?"
"Hendrickson..." his brother growled, somehow sounding less intimidating yet somehow far scarier, "Let. Him. Go!"
"So I was right, you do know this creature. When be heard his name he'd become quite active, you know. We had to sedate him you see, otherwise he'd have broken through the restraints we had him in during our experimentation of him."
A sudden feeling of dread and rage filled the air, heavy enough to make it hard to breathe. The voices around him let out exclamations of fear, but Zeldris knew this feeling. His brother really was here, and he was passed.
"C-c-captain???"
"So... heavy..."
"Strange, I've never seen the Captain so angry before..."
"You. Did. What!?" Meliodas growled, voice deepening with rage, becoming more gutteral as he slipped into demon tongue. Zeldris had the impression he was trembling with barely constrained rage from the small part of him thar was still packbound to him, distant as it was. "The experiments you did on the corpses may be excusable, but to do that to a living person, my own kin at that..."
"What incredible magic! So our hypothesis was correct," Hendricson said, seemingly gleeful as Meliodas seethed in front of him. He didn't seem to realize the very real danger he was in. "Not only is he showing the same aura as the experiment, but he's also speaking in the dialect of the Demons as well."
Within seconds, Zeldris was knocked to the ground, Hendrickson having been thrown aside by Meliodas as he attacked the fool. "I'll never forgive you!" The youngest Demon could feel the anger and hatred that was sething from his elder brother. Meliodas was damn-near feral, trying hard to not let his instincts take hold of him. And he didn't have the same strength as he did 3000 years ago, and his control over his magic had weakend significantly.
Zeldris took off the blindfold just in time to see Meliodas punching Hendrickson, his entire body shuddering in rage. He never thought that Meliodas cared for him this much, even after the clan was betrayed by him during the Holy War.
Meliodas stood up, Hendrickson knocked out on the ground as he leered over the human. Meliodas' teeth were bared, his eyes pools of black as he growled lowly. Satisfied that the fool was taken care of for now, Meliodas turned around, heading straight towards Zeldris. The raven froze as Meliodas' arms wrapped around him tightly, holding him close to his body.
"Finally, we're reunited once more."
And as much as Zeldris wanted to push away from Meliodas, the TRAITOR, he found that he couldn't. He didn't want to. For the first time in a long while, Zeldris finally was able to relax. Surrounded by the comforting scent and feel of his big brother. Once again a savior.

Estrenos de series
Back (Channel 4)
Comedia creada por Simon Blackwell (The Thick Of It, Veep, Peep Show). Seis episodios. Estreno: 6 de septiembre
A favor: Volver a ver juntos a los protagonistas de Peep Show.
En contra: Una trama tan básica.
youtube
Tin Star (Sky Atlantic)
Completan el reparto Christopher Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels), Genevieve O'Reilly (Episodes, The Honourable Woman), Abigail Lawrie (The Casual Vacancy), Oliver Coopersmith (Dickensian), Stephen Walters (Outlander), Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street), Roark Critchlow (Pretty Little Liars), Sarah Podemski (Cashing In) y Kevin Hanchard (Orphan Black). Creada por Rowan Joffé (28 Weeks Later, Before I Go to Sleep). Diez episodios.
youtube
The Deuce (HBO)
Drama sobre el auge del porno en Nueva York durante los setenta y ochenta desde el punto de vista de los gemelos Martino (James Franco; 11.22.63, Milk), dueños de un club nocturno; la estudiante universitaria Abigail "Abby" Parker (Margarita Levieva; Revenge, The Blacklist), la prostituta de Times Square Eileen Merrell (Maggie Gyllenhaal; The Honourable Woman, The Dark Knight), un chulo llamado Larry Brown (Gbenga Akinnagbe; The Following, The Good Wife), el cuñado de los gemelos Martino (Chris Bauer; True Blood, Survivor's Remorse) o un camarero llamado Paul Hendrickson (Chris Coy; Banshee, Treme). Creada por David Simon (The Wire, Treme) y George Pelecanos (The Wire, Treme). Ocho episodios.
Y no.
youtube
The Orville (FOX)
También participan Adrianne Palicki (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Friday Night Lights), Scott Grimes (Band of Brothers, American Dad), Halston Sage (Crisis, Paper Towns), Penny Johnson Jerald (Castle, The Larry Sanders Show), Mark Jackson, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Chad L. Coleman (The Walking Dead, The Wire) y Larry Joe Campbell (According to Jim).
youtube
Strike - The Silkworm (BBC One)
Completan el cast Rosalind Eleazar (Harlots, National Treasure), Paterson Joseph (Timeless, The Leftovers), Paul Rhys (Being Human, Da Vinci's Demons), Michael Shaeffer (Black Mirror, Rogue One) y Lærke Winther (Dicte).
Completan el reparto Zoë Tapper, Warren Brown (Luther), Richie Campbell (The Frankenstein Chronicles) y Shelley Conn (The Lottery, Mistresses UK).
youtube
American Vandal (Netflix)
Una gamberrada muy cara en un instituto (penes pintados en veintisiete coches) lleva a un documentalista de segundo (Tyler Alvarez, Orange Is the New Black) a investigar la controvertida y probablemente injusta expulsión de un estudiante de último curso. Completan el reparto Griffin Gluck (Private Practice, Red Band Society), Jimmy Tatro (22 Jump Street), Camille Hyde, Eduardo Franco (Adam Ruins Everything), Lukas Gage (T@gged), Jessica Juarez, Lou Wilson (The Guest Book), Camille Ramsey, Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) y G. Hannelius (Dog with a Blog). Sátira creada por Tony Yacenda (Pillow Talking) y Dan Perrault (Honest Trailers) y escrita por Dan Lagana (Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous). Ocho episodios.
youtube
Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All Access)
Protagonizan Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, The Good Wife), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The OA), James Frain (Orphan Black, Gotham), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Memoirs of a Geisha), Rainn Wilson (The Office, Six Feet Under), Doug Jones (The Neighbors, The Strain), Anthony Rapp (Rent, A Beautiful Mind), Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful), Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock, Weeds), Terry Serpico (Sneaky Pete, Army Wives), Sam Vartholomeos (The Following), Mary Wiseman, Chris Obi y Mary Chieffo.
A favor: Narración serializada.
Completan el reparto Zachary Levi (Chuck, Heroes Reborn), David Cronenberg (Jason X, Resurrection) y Rebecca Liddiard (Between, Houdini and Doyle). Mary Harron (American Psycho) dirigirá la adaptación de Sarah Polley (Away from Her).
Por supuesto, escribe y produce Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Mom, Two and a Half Men, Disjointed). Jon Favreau (Iron Man) dirige el primer episodio.
youtube
Me, Myself & I (CBS)
Escribe Dan Kopelman (Galavant) y produce Aaron Kaplan (Divorce, The Neighbors). Jack Dylan Grazer (It), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) y John Larroquette (Night Court, The John Larroquette Show) interpretan a Alex. Les acompañan Brian Unger (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Christopher Paul Richards (Billions), Sharon Lawrence (Shameless), Jaleel White (Family Matters), Kelen Coleman (Big Little Lies, The Newsroom), Mandell Maughan (Bajillion Dollar Propertie$), Ed Begley Jr. (Blunt Talk, Better Call Saul), Tia Mowry (Sister, Sister), Skylar Gray (Married) y Reylynn Caster. Estreno: 25 de septiembre
A favor: Ojo, no es multicámara. Con nombres interesantes y sin risas enlatadas.
En contra: Todavía nos suena This Is Us.
The Brave (NBC)
Protagonizada por Mike Vogel (Under the Dome, Bates Motel), Anne Heche (Hung, Aftermath), Sofia Pernas (Jane the Virgin), Tate Ellington (Quantico, Shameless), Demetrius Grosse (Westworld, Banshee), Noah Mills (Sex and the City 2), Natacha Karam y Hadi Tabbal.
youtube
The Good Doctor (ABC)
Protagonizan también Antonia Thomas (Misfits), Nicholas Gonzalez (Pretty Little Liars), Chuku Modu (Game of Thrones), Beau Garrett (Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce), Hill Harper (CSI: New York, Homeland), Richard Schiff (The West Wing, Ballers) y Tamlyn Tomita (Teen Wolf, Berlin Station).
youtube
Law & Order: True Crime - The Menendez Murders (NBC)
Protagonizan David Boreanaz (Bones, Buffy), Jessica Paré (Mad Men) y Max Thieriot (Bates Motel). Ed Redlich (Without a Trace) es el showrunner. Estreno: 27 de septiembre
A favor: ¿Algo de acción?
En contra: Como Six pero seguramente peor.
youtube
Missions (Shudder)
Protagonizan Jean-Toussaint Bernard (The Tunnel), Vincent Londez (Ennemi public), Giorgia Sinicorni (I Cesaroni), Arben Bajraktaraj (Harry Potter, Taken), Adrianna Gradziel, Come Levin, Mathias Mlekuz, Clément Aubert y Hélène Viviès. Diez episodios.
Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Misfits), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), Serinda Swan (Graceland), Ken Leung (Lost, The Night Shift), Eme Ikwuakor (Extant), Isabelle Cornish (Puberty Blues), Mike Moh (Empire) y Sonya Balmores (Soul Surfer) serán Maximus, Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Crystal, Triton y Auran. Ocho episodios.
