In 1988, a fire destroyed the puppets and Street set of Sesamstrasse- the German co-production of Sesame Street. While many puppets were rebuilt, Uli von Bödefeld was not, as the producers did not want to pay licencing fees for him.

I went to the 50 Years of Sesamstraße [German Sesame Street] exhibit in Hamburg Balli Stadt and aaaaaaah it was terrific. I almost cried a little. It was fantastic I swear - this was my first time seeing actual original Muppets in my life of loving them and I am still not done processing.
