Verses:

1 Samuel 11:1-2, 13 (KJV):

1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.

13 And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.

Sermon:

In 1 Samuel 11 (KJV), we see that God used Saul to send His salvation to the men of Jabesh-Gilead, whom, had Saul not been anointed king over Israel, would've had their right eyes thrust out by their Ammonite enemies. God has positioned Samuel to anoint Saul king prior to, due to the stirring up of the hearts of the people to desire a king, knowing that the Ammonites would come against them. We don't know what God has in store for our lives, but we do know that (as in Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” ) His plans are for our good, His glory, and to the salvation of souls unto Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Apabila seseorang melakukan ketidakjujuran di dalam mencari nafkah, hal itu bukan hanya merusak kerohaniannya saja tetapi juga merusak kejiwaannya. Tentu sebagai orang Kristen, kita semua diajar untuk mencari nafkah dengan jujur dan tidak menyulitkan orang lain. Namun pada kenyataannya, banyak orang Kristen justru melakukan ketidakjujuran ketika mencari nafkah, baik di kantor maupun di saat berdagang. Ketika kita melakukan ketidakjujuran, kita akan merusah kerohanian kita, karena Roh Kudus tidak akan betah tinggal di hati yang tidak jujur. Ketika Roh Kudus sudah tidak tinggal di hati kita, maka hati kita akan kering sehingga lambat laun hati kita menjadi mati rasa terhadap kejujuran hingga kita akan betul-betul menjadi orang yang tidak jujur. Kemudian secara kejiwaan, ketidakjujuran akan membuat jiwa kitapun rusak. Karena dari setiap ketidakjujuran yang dilakukan akan merusak jiwa kita, karena melalui perbuatan ketidakjujuran itu kita membohongi diri kita sendiri. Pada akhirnya, Iblis akan berkuasa atasroh dan jiwa kita sehingga kita tidak lagi menjadi anak-anak Kristus.
