In an attempt to resolve the rising tension between mages and Templars in Kirkwall, the Grand Cleric decides to marry two of its most influential figures: the Champion and the Knight-Captain. But Cullen actually has feelings for Hawke, and he can't tell if it's serious when Hawke keeps flirting with him. To make it worse, Meredith orders him to spy on Hawke. When everything goes wrong, will the Kirkwall they were meant to unite ultimately tear them apart?

i love how the one time templars actually have a good sixth sense for mage nonsense is when you agree to kill ser thrask in act of mercy and karras’ men move in. also this massacre is going to be really awkward for carver when he joins up

Crowdsourcing time: Who are your favourite Dragon Age NPCs? (Feel free to list as many as you like)
Planning to do a poll on people’s favourite NPCs (romanceable NPCs, i.e. Cullen and Josephine, will not be included because obviously they’ll win). Obviously I can’t list every single NPC so I’m just trying to gauge the most popular ones. If they appear in multiple games they’ll only be included in the first game they were a part of. Here are the ones I’m thinking of so far:
Origins: Anora, Bhelen, Bodahn, King Cailan, Connor, Dagna, Duncan, Eamon, Flemeth, Ser Gilmore, Gorim, Greagoir, Harrowmont, Arl Howe, Irving, Isolde, Jowan, the Lady of the Forest, the Mad Hermit, Marethari, Niall, Rica, Ruck, Sandal, Shianni, Tamlen, Teagan, Witherfang, Zathrian
2: Arianni, The Arishok, Bartrand, Charade, Donnic, Viscount Dumar, Elthina, Emeric, Feynriel, Gamlen, Gascard, Ginnis, Hubert, Jethann, Ketojan, Leandra, Meraas, Meredith, Orana, Orsino, Petrice, Samson, Seamus, Thrask, Varnell
Inquisition: Ameridan, Ser Barris, Briala, Calpernia, Celene, Dennet, Fairbanks, Fiona, Giselle, Florianne, Krem, Maryden
#can you tell I haven’t played nearly as much inquisitor as the other games#Also I nearly called florianne florrick. Too much bg3#dragon age#not a poll#dragon age origins#dragon age 2#dragon age inquisition#crowdsourcing

@cullenssweatyballsakk - Changed my mind. Ser Barris is going to win! he can handle a gallon pot of lyrium, break a huge magic barrier and then go on destroy 1000000 demons with his crew afterwards.
(No, seriously I LOVE this dude and completed a whole support the templars run JUST for him, only good Templar imo, even Thrask was a scumbag)

Robin Hawke, a summary.
Remington 'Robin' Hawke is the oldest child of Leeandra and Malcolm Hawke. Until his father died, he had a great relationship with everyone in his family, including his younger twin siblings, Carver and Bethany. After Malcolm's passing, tensions strained as Robin was given the role of the patriarch in their family, one they never wanted. This provoked ire from their mother and younger brother, who thought he should do more for the family. This caused him to grow closer to Bethany, a fellow apostate mage. However, the arrival of the Fifth Blight caused their lives to be completely upended, and Robin would be forced to take on a role they neither expected nor wanted.
Critical story decisions:
Prologue:
Bethany is killed during the Hawke family's escape from Lothering.
Robin and Carver work for Meeran of the Red Iron as mercenaries.
Act one:
Doesn't condone blood magic while speaking to Merrill, but allows her to travel with him and promises to visit her in the alienage.
Approaches Vincento regarding Feynriel. Has Varric step in, which saves him. Tells Feynriel to go to the Dalish.
Agrees to help Ser Thrask. Tells Grace he'll convince the templars that the apostate mages are dead, and he succeeds.
Kills Idunna. Has Merrill check Keran for demons, then releases him back to the templars.
Agrees to help Ghyslain de Carrac find his wife, Ninette. Doesn't tell him where they found her ring, resulting in it being sent to her family. He chooses to tell Jethann about her death.
Convinces the Tal - Vashoth warrior to help them. Tells the Arishok they are owed money.
Agrees to lead Ketojan to freedom. Sets Ketojan free. Threatens to kill Sister Petrice.
Agrees to help Fenris. They recruit him, despite his anti - mage views.
Promises not to harm Anders as a fellow mage. Has Carver diffuse the angry refugee situation. Recruits Anders after having him kill Karl.
Fights Hayder with Isabela, then recruits her.
Takes Carver with on the expedition to the deep roads. Agrees to help find Sandal. Refuses to agree to the demon's demands. Carver joins the Grey Wardens at Anders's suggestion.
Act two:
After learning of Javaris's actions, Robin tells him to leave or they'll kill him.
Upon investigating Gaspard DuPuis's estate, he refuses to let the man go and kills him.
Fights with Orwald after being led to him by Seneschal Bran. Decides to kill Ser Varnell and his group, and tells the Viscount to be truthful with the Arishok about the condition of the Qunari bodies they stumbled upon.
After recognizing the calling card of white lilies, they tell Gamlen about the killer. They report their mother's disappearance to the city guard, but nothing comes from it. Pays the urchin for information, and kills the real killer. Makes up with his mother in the end.
Because they refused to side with Petrice, they had to fight through her supporters at the Chantry. They out her as a terrible person, watching as her titles are stripped from her and she's shot through the heart by a Qunari archer. In the end, they watch the Viscount cradle his dead son.
They struggle deciding to give the relic to Isabela or the Qunari. They choose to give it to Isabela, disliking her greatly but not wanting her dead. She never returns.
Sides with the elves seeking refuge in the chantry, much to Aveline's disdain and the Arishok's respect. They duel the Arishok and win, becoming the Champion of Kirkwall, a title they hate from the beginning. Robin first dips their toes into blood magic during their fight with the Arishok as they find they're not strong enough to win without it.
Act three:
Made their support for mages abundantly clear.
Strong - armed into helping the three apostates by Knight - Commander Meredith. Allows Emile to run free and lies saying that they killed him. Places blame for the situation on the templars.
Chooses to kill Keran on the Wounded Coast. They once again reaffirm their support for mages, and demand that Ser Thrask release the hostages he's taken. He asks Cullen to be merciful to both the apostate mages and Samson.
Kills Knight - Commander Meredith and flees Kirkwall, despite being revered by the mages of the Free Marches.
What do they do with their companions during the final battle?
Kills Anders after he explodes a chantry building and kills many people inside.
Takes Merrill with.
Takes Fenris with.
Takes Aveline with.
Takes Varric with.
Reunites with Carver, who he takes with.
Some stats:
Class: Mage, with a blood magic specialization.
Personality: Purple.
Act one party: Carver, Varric, Merrill.
Act two party: Varric, Merrill, Fenris.
Act three party: Varric, Merrill, Fenris.
Romance: Merrill ( I will not force ship anyone who writes Merrill. This is just canon to my playthrough ).
Some facts:
Robin hates his name, thus the nickname. The only people who know his name is Remington are his family members, his romantic partner, and close friends.
The only reason Robin returns for the Inquisition is because of their friendship with Varric. He ends up being left in the fade.
They wear their hair long during the events of Dragon Age II, but cut it all off before Dragon Age: Inquisition. Hair holds memories and all that stuff.
Robin is non - binary. This caused a rift between him and his mother, but by the end, she accepted it and they were able to make up before she died.
There are aus available where he's the inquisitor, where he's rook, but also verses where he's companions for both.

31 Days of Dragon Age
Based off this post
Day 18- Favorite DA2 NPC
There's so many good ones. Little rants, but one of my favorite and underrated parts of DA2 is every NPC/Quest giver is so real to me, they have emotions and connect to the story and it's amazing.
1st- NATHANIEL HOWE MY LOVE, I love him, I love his reunion with Anders, and I love how it's his sister who asks
2nd- Emeric, the templar who investigates the murderer that kills Leandra. I was actually so sad when he died, I loved his character sm.
3rd- Ser Thrask, once again, so sad when he died. I thought he was so sweet and one of the few templars who genuinely tried to help from the inside.
4th- The Arishok. Obviously. I love earning his respect for the last fight, it's so satisfying. I also love seeing his further descent into not giving a shit if his plan is found out bc he hates kirkwall THAT much.
Anyways. 17,862 MINUTES UNTIL VEILGUARD DROPS

31 Days of Dragon Age
Oct 13 - Introduce your Hawke
Praxis Hawke
Switch Rogue. ((in my head she’s also a mage but doesn’t carry around a call sign on her back like her sibling. She just uses it to enhance her rogue abilities))
Age: 26-31 (during Kirkwall years)
Praxis was friends with everyone, though she did not care for Aveline, her diplomatic skills and Aveline’s obtuseness meant they stayed on friendly terms.
The sisters worked with Athenril for a year, upon arriving in Kirkwall, and remained on friendly terms when their service concluded, though Praxis is a wee bit too ethical, she’s willing to lie to a smuggler to get someone on their way to a new life.
Whenever the option was given, Praxis protected mages by redirecting watchful eyes, or killing, if needed, but did not blackmail the honorable Ser Thrask.
The crew “rescued” Seamus and returned him to his father.
They also defended any who Praxis thought had need and killed any and all slavers they came across.
Feynriel went to the Dalish & then on to Tevinter to learn to control his special brand of magic.
Praxis worried for Bethany’s safety and left her behind for the Deep Roads expedition, coming home to find her being taken to the Circle.
After one fabulous night, Fenris thought it better if he and Praxis were just friends and she respected his choice.
She helped Varric with his brother and convinced him to try to help Bartrand. Praxis and Varric also discovered the source of the haunting and, of course, Varric did not keep the idol.
Praxis would never hand Isabela over to the Qunari. She handily defeated the Arishok and the Qunari left Kirkwall.
After some Carta dwarves started hunting Praxis, Bethany was given leave to help track down why. They track them down to an old Grey Warden prison in the Vimmarks where they end up finding their father’s will, siding with Larius and defeating Corypheus to escape from the prison.
Some of the Hero of Ferelden’s old companions were delighted to talk to Praxis; Zevran after she explained Nuncio’s bullshit and Nathaniel after recovering him from the Deep Roads.
Fenris rethought things and asked to resume the relationship. Praxis jumped at the offer.
She also discovered she had another cousin and reunited Charade with her father, Uncle Gamlen.
Merrill partially repaired the eluvian and did not destroy it later. The crew away from Merrill’s clan rather than fight them.
Praxis sided with mages after Anders exploded the Chantry and made sure Bethany survived the final battle. In fact, everyone but Meredith was alive and well at the end of the final battle ((justice for Orsino!)), though Sebastian was no longer as friendly as she approved of Anders’ actions and let him go free.
She’s a little gaunt by 9:41, because… ya know… on the run with Fenris for the last few years. ((I wonder if she still owns the deed to the Bone Pit. Varric?))

My main "canon" Hawke is in appearance just the default Hawke, because she looks HOT AS FUCK already and my lesbian ass cannot resist her. DA2 Act 1 Polls
Dragon Age 2 Polls
See quest and choice descriptions from Dragon Age Wiki/Keep below
Feynriel was born to Arianni, a Dalish elf, and a traveling Human Antivan merchant named Vincento. Feynriel's father abandoned him, forcing Arianni to abandon her clan and raise Feynriel alone in Kirkwall's Alienage.
When he was eight years old, he began to display magical abilities. He realized he could will things to happen just by thinking about them. One winter day, he made a houseplant bloom to cheer up his mother. Arianni refused to send her son to the Circle of Magi. As a Dalish elf, she believed she knew enough about magic to teach him to hide and control his powers. It worked for a few years, until it became apparent that Feynriel was no ordinary mage. He began having strange dreams; Arianni often wasn't able to wake him up, and on rare occasions, Feynriel would blank out while awake, as if his mind ceased working. In those instances, Feynriel would take up to an hour to return to full consciousness. When his nightmares became more severe and demons began whispering to him in his dreams, Arianni, fearing for her son's life, contacted Ser Thrask for help, as she knew him to be sympathetic to mages. Feynriel saw this as betrayal and fled his home. He first began by seeking out his father, who was back in Kirkwall. Vincento directed him to an ex-templar by the name of Samson, known for helping runaway mages. Samson led him to Captain Reiner for help, but Feynriel was instead captured to be sold as a slave. When Hawke saved him from the slavers, he expressed a desire to join the Dalish, who he believed could teach him to control his dreams and his magic.[1]
Sent Feynriel to the Dalish
Hawke can do as Feynriel asks, and allow him to go to Marethari's clan, where he hopes to control his dreams and hone his skills as a mage.
Letting Feynriel choose what he thinks is best (which is to find the Dalish) can lead to Hawke telling him they are friends with the Keeper and can offer to negotiate with them to make sure he has a place with them.
2. Sent Feynriel to the Circle
Hawke can choose to send Feynriel to the Circle of Magi, which will go against his wishes. Feynriel will bitterly and reluctantly comply, telling Hawke that you should go and tell Arianni that "she has won." Hawke will be able to see him at the Gallows, where he will remark that it is just as he feared there, and that according to the templars, the only way to stop his dreams is to destroy his mind.

Judith Banters: Anders
Judith: For what it’s worth, I am sorry about Karl.
Anders: It’s done. At least I was able to gift him a few moments of his humanity, I only wish I knew what did it, for his mind and emotions to return. Maybe then…
Judith: We were ambushed. It was never going to end well.
Anders: I suppose not.
*
Anders: I hope you won’t think it rude, but when I was healing you, I noticed a number of scars.
Judith: I have a lot; it would be strange if you didn’t notice.
Anders: And a few of them are clearly the result of magical attacks.
Judith: You and I have both been attacked by spells, as well as swords.
Anders: I just hope you don’t hold it against mages.
Judith: Don’t insult me, Anders. Do you see me swearing blood oaths against every bandit, every demon, every ogre? It’s pointless.
*
Anders: I’m beginning to see why you have so many scars. You throw yourself into battle like a catapult.
Judith: I am not some raging bull, charging without abandon. I am your frontline, striking the enemy first so that you, Varric, and the others don’t get hurt.
Anders: We’re not children, Hawke. I can suffer a few hits.
Judith: Anders, you look like a stiff breeze would topple you over.
Anders: Well, I could at least put on barriers if I had a little more time. It’s a lot less strenuous than healing.
Judith: Very well, just try to keep up.
*
Anders: I can’t believe you turned those mages over.
Judith: There was no other way.
Anders: No other way? You could have killed Thrask and let them go!
Judith: Thrask was trying to help them! And those mages had no supplies, there was no time before Ser Kerras arrived. Should I have just killed him too?
Anders: Yes, actually! A ‘nice’ templar like Thrask, or a cruel on like Kerras, they’re still participating in the torture of mages.
Judith: And then what? You think the Knight Commander wouldn’t investigate it? Why don’t I just leave a trail of breadcrumbs right to my uncle’s house, so they can throw me in jail and Bethany in the Circle?
Anders: So you admit the Circle is worst-case scenario.
Judith: That was never up for debate! We are just a few people, a few nobodys! I cannot hope to challenge anything! All I can do is look after my family.
Anders: I would have found a way.
Judith: Except you didn’t.
*
Judith: You never speak of your fellow Grey Wardens. Surely you were friends with some of them?
Anders: For a time, I suppose. There was this dwarf woman, fiery red hair. She dragged me everywhere, and she refused to let the Templars take me.
Judith: Wait… are you describing Warden Aeducan? The Hero of Ferelden?
Anders: So I am, for some reason people just called her “Warden”, so I’d forget her name sometimes.
Judith: I can’t believe you never brought this up! What was she like?
Anders: Bossy, passionate, headstrong … very busty.
Judith: Anders, show some respect!
Anders: What! She was a dwarf, I had to look down sometimes, not my fault it was just… there!
Judith: (sighs) Serves me right for trying to bond with you, I suppose.
*
Anders: He’ll never appreciate you.
Judith: I am certain I don’t know what you mean.
Anders: Sebastian will always run back to the Chantry, his safe little bubble. He’ll never chose you over Andraste.
Judith: Just as you would never choose a partner over your quest to end mage oppression.
Anders: It is NOT the same.
Judith: They both give you purpose. It would be wrong to ask someone to give that all up.
Anders: Hawke… I would … if I could just make you understand..
Judith: Enough. There is nothing between us, and whatever romantic entanglements I may or may not have are none of your business. This conversation is over.
#Judith Hawke#I mean ... they can't ALL be nice#I like how I was like 'yeah maybe I'll do more in the future'#And now I just can't stop#Judy Banters

Act 1 is a comedy.
Varric: oh, did Ser Thrask not tell you that Enchanter Hawke was on the case?
Hawke, wearing pants with holes in the knees and a leather cuirass, sleeveless, smudged eye-black, scruffy and unkempt, accompanied by a dwarf, a pirate, and the most wanted apostate in the east: oh uh yeah I am Enchanter Hawke. I seen them mages. Went round back they did.
Templar: thank you for your help, Enchanter

since we've been talking about lying, here are all the lies Hawke can tell in the campaign (or at least, all the lies marked with the icon)
Act 1 - Act of Mercy
Ser Karras: Who is this? Hawke: [I'm your best friend.] I'm the one who's going to get you a medal for putting down this mage rebellion. Hawke: [I killed the mages.] I was helping Ser Thrask. The apostates are all dead.
(then there is ofc the "[Varric, this is your thing.] Tell him who we are" but that's marked as a follower action rather than a lie)
Act 1 - Loose Ends
Athenril: Well? Are you here to socialize or did you bring my goods? Hawke: [The goods were stolen.] I rescued your boy and killed the Coterie, but your property was long gone.
Meeran: Spit it out. Is Harimann dead or not? Hawke: [I couldn't find him.] He was gone by the time I got there. I just killed his guards.
Act 2 - Offered and Lost
Viscount: So many Qunari. But you killed everyone responsible? All of them? Hawke: [Every last one.] To a man. Hawke: [It's hard to kill hatred.] This group is crippled. There may be others, though.
(those are the options if Hawke sides with Varnell. if they kill Varnell then the options are basically the same but they're not lying about it)
Arishok: Tell me: why are the bodies of my Qunari burned beyond recognition? Hawke: [That is how they died.] The zealots killed them, then burned the bodies to conceal them.
Arishok: Tell me, Hawke. I sent a battle group to retrieve my delegates. Where are they? Hawke: [I don't know.] I'm not making a habit of finding wayward Qunari.
Act 2 - Prime Suspect
Hawke: [It's not that simple.] I can't be certain of anything. Gascard may have tricked me. Moira: Then we need to find him. Do you know where he is? Hawke: [No.] He didn't tell me where he was going.
Act 2 - Fool's Gold
Yevhen: Iwan said Merin sealed himself in with the darkspawn to save his brothers. Hawke: [He's right.] Merin was a hero. He died saving his family. Be proud of your boy. Hawke: [He's right.] Absolutely correct. Not a word of a lie. Merin died with dignity and honor. Yes. Hawke: [He's right.] Merin died to keep his brothers alive—brothers who should be very, very grateful.
Act 2 - How to Frame a Templar
Ser Roderick: But I will do my duty. If you've seen something… um… suspicious, let me know. Hawke: [Conrad was bribed by mages.] Ser Conrad caught some apostates. They offered him coin to let them go, and he took it. Hawke: [He's been sacrificing goats.] Last night, I saw Ser Conrad sacrificing a goat… to the Great Demon. Then he howled. Loudly. Hawke: [I saw him murder someone.] I saw Ser Conrad stab one of the city guardsman. He dumped him in the bay.
Act 3 - On The Loose
Meredith: It seems, however, that we have still heard nothing of Emile de Launcet. Hawke: [He's dead.] Emile was killed.
also you can tell Anders "[There was nothing between us.] It never happened" when he... inquires politely and tactfully about a previous romance (thanks hepler)

Like most Fereldans, Baby loves his mabari. A large, fawn furred female, she's named Kitty (or Kitty-Cat), and is glued to Baby's side most of the time.
She's a rather snobby thing though, and exceptionally picky about just who will get her attention. She likes Varric and Isabela, and tolerates Merrill and Anders well. She's more than a bit suspicious of Fenris at first, though she warms up as the years past. Kitty does not like Aveline or Sebastian whatsoever.
Of those not among Hawke's common companions, Kitty likes Nora (the serving woman in the Hanged Man), Ser Thrask, and Cullen, of all people. When Baby and his companions go to the Gallows courtyard to search the stalls, or to speak to someone, Kitty always goes to see Cullen, if he's out and about... much to Baby's annoyance.

The only halfway decent templars we see in game is Ser Otto who comes down to the alienage because of a disturbance there. But he thinks that you could pray the demon away amd doesn't seem to have any idea how to truly handle things. There's also Thrask and the guy who tries to investigate the murders (which Aveline doesn't seem to give a shit about since she does nothing). Also the guy who only joins the templars to support his sister.
And Samson too before Bioware decided he should be Cullen's dark mirror (which is a joke).
But, of course, a few individuals being decent doesn't mean the institution as a whole is. The templars should burn. They are obsolete and do more damage than good.
Also, a thing to keep in mind: if we list the halfway decent Templars as Otto, Thrask, Emeric (murder guy), and Keran (the recruit supporting his sister) and set aside Samson due to rampant retcons messing with his character... Otto, Thrask and Emeric all die, and if Keran doesn't get booted post-almost possession he walks in act 3. The Templars who die all die because they totally fail to properly gauge the danger of magic, too; Otto thinks he can pray a demon away, Emeric gets in over his head when the Order refuses to back up his investigation, and Thrask gets sacrificed by Grace. Keran only survives his run-in with magic because Hawke intervenes. They are entirely unprepared to deal with a mage or demon who's actually dangerous, which is a running theme with the Templars.
Also, it's not even that they're obsolete. The Templars were meant to be jailers and tormentors. That's their purpose in the Chantry's machine. This is them functioning exactly as intended.

you couldn't call them extremely minor but I guess ser thrask and radonis. now if you want extremely minor in a historical sense, archon tidarion of blade of tidarion fame most definitely. I have a lot of unhinged thoughts for all that lore section.
By all means unhinge those thoughts, I am intrigued!
