lol it can be kind of tragic how I am always several years late to the party on things and not into the current version. I look at all the attention and interaction fans of the current thing get and then get sad that whoever I like is dead, defunct, or otherwise out of doing it for good.
#if ooonly i’d been born a few years earlier and been into surf rock i could have seen dick dale live#honestly that’s probably my number one time machine performance#because i’ve just heard nothing that compares to him and heard he was great live until the very very bitter end#also would require minimal time travel just like 5 years back#early dead or alive concert when pete burns actually sang live is also up there but i’d also be happy with a tribute act that did him justi#Laeather strip has done a spin me cover and it would probably sound great live#bochum starlight express in like 2013-14 is also rapidly rising up the charts#the recording of it is just so hype and the photos are glorious and it had one of my fav greaseballs AND electras#there is just no alternate universe where i would be anywhere near europe then and iirc that electra was really up and down injury wise#so it would have been like lightning rod or original top thrill dragster working on my one visit to their parks (but that did happen!)#i have unusually good luck wih unreliable roller coasters and occaisonal laughably bad luck with really old wooden ones#my only lift hill evac was on the VERY mechcanically simple Lake Winnie Cannonball and Kennywood’s Thunderbolt DERAILED the day i went#(After giving me an absolutely god-tier freak ride my riding partner STILL talks about to this day. That thing tore itself apart that day)

sometimes all I need is to be a small town girl in 1960s pennsylvania who's worried about not being attracted to any of the boys in town. All the other gals are startin' to get hitched, after all, and mama's startin' to get on my back about not bein' able to find my special someone.
Things all change, though, when we take a trip out to Kennywood - money's tight on the ol' farm, but daddy wanted to surprise us after a good season. There's so many people in one place it nearly makes my head spin. It's not long before I'm split off from my parents, what with all my siblings tearing them every which way.
As if my nerves aren't on end enough, my body freezes right in place as I catch notice of a group of city gals. Hard to even tell they're gals - they're dressed in black, with short hair and tall boots. I gulp when one looks at me. She's - she's pretty. Not a type of pretty I ever seen before, but it's hard to call her anythin' else.
"Need something, doll?" she calls out of nowhere. Her group snickers as she kicks off the wall she was leanin' against and walks closer. My eyes whip up and down her obnoxious outfit. It's so - shiny. I wonder how it feels. "My eyes are up here, doll."
"I wasn't...," I start, but the issue is, I was. My cheeks go hot. I'd run but my feet are still stuck. "Sorry," I squeak.
"Never said it was a problem," she whispers. Her voice low and sweet like fresh honey, drippin' from her deep black lips. She steps even closer. Her group isn't laughin' anymore, but she is, right in my face.
"What do you want?" I cross my arms and puff my chest the best I can. Mama always tells me to be more confident in myself, otherwise the world will step all over me. Hard not to feel like I'm already bein' stepped on, though, as the gal throws her head back from laughin' even harder. "Rude."
"It's more rude to stare, doll."
"Well I think it's more rude to laugh in a stranger's face," I counter. Her eyes glimmer, and she reaches a hand up. Two fingers liftin' my chin. I gulp again.
"Oh yeah?" she asks. "So it'd be better if I wasn't a stranger, then?" My mouth hangs open a bit. Her jawline is so sharp. She nods, and once my head catches on to that fact, I find myself lookin' at the Old Mill.
I know gossip's a sin, but I've heard plenty a rumor about the Old Mill. Especially with gals like this. Gals who look like they've never worn a proper dress in their life and got their hair caught in a tornado. There's not one good reason for me to go with her. I should go find one of my younger siblings and take 'em on the carousel.
"I've never been on that," I whisper instead, my teeth tuggin' at my lower lip. I've never been this nervous. It's a fluffy kind of nervous, the kind other gals talk about feelin' around boys. Butterflies floatin' around my stomach and all that.
"Wanna change that?" She starts walking before I answer. I follow. Her group trails us, looking between each other and snickerin' to themselves. I could still run. Get the - pardon me - hell out of here, maybe even tell mama I'm sick.
For reasons I can't for the life of me figure out, I stay by the pretty gal's side. "What's your name?" I whisper.
"Call me Jackie," she grins. "Yours?"
"Lily," I answer. We're quiet for the rest of the line. Jackie loads into the boat first, rocking it slightly as her long legs try to fit in place. She nods me in.
We're - close. Real close. My seat's damp but I hardly notice as we're lurched forward. "Hey, easy now," she teases. "It's a bit of a rough ride. You better get used to it."
"Yeah." My thighs squeeze together. Darkness covers us both. The trickling of water is almost calming, but it's interrupted as she reaches out of the boat and starts holding at the wall. "You're not supposed to be out of the boat."
"I'll be back in a second, doll. Don't have to be so needy," she coos. I don't know what that means. I don't need anythin' from a gal like her. This is just - her showin' me a ride I hadn't been on. Then it sets in what she's doing, as our boat slows a crawl. "There we go."
I have no clue what to say. That's one half of the rumor true. My teeth find my lip again. I'm not thinkin' straight right now, not at all. This is a mistake. It has to be.
Not much I can do about it now. I turn to her. "So."
"So," she repeats. Her hand moves to my thigh. Before I can stop myself, a whimper leaves my throat. Oh lord. This isn't right. Mama raised me better then this, then to fall for a damn temptress. "You nervous?"
"I've never been on this," I breathe out. My body leans into hers. I look up into her eyes, inky but still glowing. "I've... I've never cared much for other rides here. Maybe this'll be the one I like."
Jackie laughs, kinder this time. "It better be." Her hand drifts up to the back of my neck, and she pulls me closer. Her breath on my lips. It's heavenly. "Do you want this, Lily?"
"I might." I touch her arm, teasin' up it slowly with a few fingers. "You think you can help me be sure?"
"Gladly," she smirks. Then it happens. Her lips on mine, warm and pillowy. My body tenses up all at once, then relaxes. This is beyond anythin' I've ever felt before. Her hand dives into my hair and I melt against it. "You like that, doll?"
"Uh huh," is all I can get out. Her other hand gets on me too. I know it's wrong, but goddamn does it feel right. I kiss her deeply, so deep our teeth clack and she laughs into my mouth.
I don't know what happens when the ride ends, but that doesn't matter now. The next few minutes belong to the darkness, and to the woman holding me tightly.
ahem
but anyway yeah, that would be cool.

Kennywood Day!
Today, my family and I went to Kennywood! It's the first amusement park outing we've had in a while. My dad had to leave early because of his work schedule, but we had a good time. :)
We rode Sky Rocket first. It was a good warmup ride. The line wasn't too long, and there were little misting machines to keep us cool. It isn't the most intense rollercoaster ever, but it doesn't need to be. It's just fun.
Steel Curtain is under maintenance for who knows what reason, but at least it photographs well. I hope I can ride it someday.
We wanted to go on Phantom's Revenge next, but something was going on, so we settled for Thunderbolt in the meantime. It may be small and kind of old, but it sure does whip you around! Phantom was operational after that, so of course we went back. Delightful as always.
Fun fact for more casual coaster/amusement park enthusiasts: Phantom's second drop is longer than its first hill is tall. This is possible thanks to how hilly the Pittsburgh area is.
Dad wanted ice cream before he had to leave, so we stopped by the Pagoda for a bite. The blue side is where you can get ice cream, while the red side advertises "fire-breathing" sausage. A cool design choice, if you ask me.
My mom, my brother, and I did a few more things from there. We rode Racer and Jackrabbit, then went off to Noah's Ark. We did think of riding the Turtle, but the line just wasn't worth it.
The sign does make me think of a certain group of ninjas. though. :)
But anyway, Noah's Ark. It has seen a fair number of changes throughout the years, but it recently settled on an appearance like the one from my mom's childhood. Her favorite part is the beginning, where you enter through a whale's mouth. You walk on its tongue, which is made of a spongy sort of material.
After we finished our walk through Noah's Ark, of course, we had to get some Potato Patch fries. They're really good. They're more potato-y than crispy, but they aren't super greasy, and the skin adds some nice flavor.
My brother went off to the arcade once we ate, and I hung out with him for a while, but I ultimately decided to meet up with my mom at the carousel. It truly is a beautiful ride. The paint is vibrant, the sculpting is gorgeous, and the Wurlitzer organ is still functional even after 107 years (albeit with some restorations under its belt).
We all reunited soon after, went on the Old Mill, got to see the Fall Fantasy parade, and stopped by the Kandy Kaleidoscope before leaving. We got some fudge squares, and I picked out a can of Toxic Waste candies for myself.
Overall, it was a wonderful day. I'm glad that I can spend time with my family like this.

I haven’t seen the new defunctland yet (waiting for the right time you know how it is) but I went to Kennywood a total of once when I was like 8 and it was an Insane experience bc like it’s just a normal amusement park if a little run-down cause it’s super old but there is one thing I remember distinctly. Horrifically. The Noah’s Arc Walkthrough attraction.
This shit FUCKED ME UP. They actually recently (as of 2016 I think) changed it back to its classic 20th century pastiche which thank god because I got to experience the insane, nightmare-inducing 90’s version that carried into the 2000’s. Someone decided. In their infinite wisdom. To take this charming if dated puppet walkthrough thing about Noah’s arc. And add like, kind of horror elements to it? You entered the walkthrough in a tower of terror style murder elevator with a staff person who looks ready to eat you alive. When you get to the base floor, you are greeted by what might be the second most scarring thing I saw as a young child and that was a see-through plexiglass floor above SKELETONS MELTING IN LAVA and that is just about all I remember of the attraction because immediately upon seeing this I started crying inconsolably and needed to be carried out by my father. We actually didn’t make it all the way through we couldn’t find the fucking exit and ended up leaving through an emergency exit.
Anyway that’s my Kennywood story I do actually wanna go back there to ride the phantom or whatever the fuck that coaster they got is and just to experience that history now with a better appreciation for it but at the time. JARRING.

i'm on my phone writing this in a hotel but i need to hurry up and say it before i forget.
if you're planning a vacation & you're not able bodied, here's something you need to know about universal studios via my experience with my mother.
i'm currently on vacation with my parents because i just recently graduated from high school, & a trip to the theme parks in florida was essentially my gift. my mother and i both have crohns; i won't go into the details of the disease since google exists, but there is a wide variation in how crohns might affect your life. for me, it doesn't affect me too much. a couple hours of IV treatment every 8 weeks and watching out for eating too much of one thing and that's all.
my mom is much worse off. she has to go to the doctors almost every week; in addition to her crohns ( & because of it ) she has severe rheumatoid arthritis. her normal walk is a waddle. she's constantly in some sort of chronic pain. her hip dislocates all the time & both sitting & standing hurts, even with her ( legally required ) wheelchair. now she's not wheelchair bound, but she has good days & bad days. theme parks are especially difficult for her with the terrain.
most of the time, when we arrive at theme parks she's given some sort of identification or card ( at disney it's called a DAS for example ). we don't use it for any special treatment other than any other person with a wheelchair needs. the reason for this, even though my mom can transfer into a car/ride seat ( with help from rails and me ), is because waiting in lines that are anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours can put her in immense pain. sitting or standing still can really hurt that hip, to the point where I've seen her leave shopping malls in tears because she feels like her leg is being ripped off.
i've been to disney in FL, busch gardens in VA, and kennywood in PA and they've all accommodated her needs. universal however, did not.
my mother was forced to wait in two, three hour lines in excruciating pain with other wheelchair users & even mentally disabled people who should not & could not wait in lines like that. she was told that the only thing they could do for her was give her a wheelchair, but because she already had one ( because you know, we own one ) they couldn't do anything else. "all of our rides are accommodating" they told us, even though many involve stairs in which we had to be taken another route. i watched her have to massage her own legs & have to skip rides because of the wait time, because she was too terrified that she'd be in pain.
you know what universal guest services offered us? a $100+ express pass so she could get in a 'faster line'. not a disabled accommodating line, a faster one.
so, tldr; don't give the universal studios theme park your money, if you can help it, & call them out on their treatment. guest services and many of the ride operators treated us with rude service & did not adequately accommodate my mother & her very prominent disability, + other disabled people i saw today. if smaller, cheaper theme parks can adapt to their disabled guests, so can universal.

I own and use a library card. (hasn't been used in eons but I have one)
I read books for pleasure in my spare time.
I sleep a lot during the day. (depends on circumstances but I have woken up between 3-7)
I watch soap operas on a regular basis.
I work at a job that I enjoy.
I would get plastic surgery if it were 100% safe, free of cost, and scar-free. (I desperately want a tummy talk)
I am wearing socks.
I am tired. (got a full 8-9 hours after being up for 22 ayyy)

Ridden every ride at an amusement park. (technically kennywood except for the kiddie rides and the volcano but I don't really count that LMAO)
Collected something really stupid. (rocks from sifting bags?? I also used to collect merch tags when anime merch was harder to find in 2012-2014. I am a self-proclaimed minor hoarder so I collect a ton of weird shit)
Gone to a concert. (uh hello it's only my personality at this point--my school has a medium scale campus venue that's hosting fucking earth wind and fire)
Helped someone. (haven't we all? kinda vague)
Spun turn tables.
Watched four movies in one night. (this I genuinely don't know LOL probably once a while ago)
Been broken up with. (several times but my recent breakup that isn't so recent made it to where I struggled to eat for a few months--genuinely one of the worst years of my life)
Taken a college level course. (I'm a junior in uni so uh yeah?? I'm in 4 rn)
Been in a car accident. (a few small ones but they were not fun)
Been in a tornado. (yeah the one that hit my house last year ripped my sunroom roof off and totaled the damn room yet everyone else had minor damage...rude)

Spent over $200 in one day. (definitely spent around $300-$500 on black friday with my fucking grad party money because I wasn't responsible)
Cheated on someone.
Been cheated on. (this one is technically a truth stretch but my last ex emotionally cheated on me because he outright told me he liked another girl two months prior to our breakup and I denied it until a few days before the breakup. I am happy for their relationship now because their chemistry always worked better but at my expense I felt it was a bit fucked)
Written a 10 page letter. (not yet but I could)
Had a best friend. (love u soobs <3)

Gotten in trouble for something you didn’t do. (yeah my uncle's ex's kids tormented me and I took the brunt of it bc I was older...the fuck was that)
Stolen books from the library. (no but I stole a book from my 2nd grade teacher--which was fucked because I liked her)

Watched the “Harry Potter” movies. (it was my special interest in 2011 as well as a family special interest you tell me)
Fired a gun. (my dad's a conservative you tell me)
Been in a school play. (We were all forced to be in a school play in 6th grade, 3 months before I posted this. I was also in my high school's theatre class for 3 years and was "make up crew" for drama--but I really only pretended to be so I could do haunted high school)

Taken a lie detector test.
Swam with dolphins.
Attempted suicide.
Written poetry. (mainly for school but not for leisure--hate writing poetry)

Gone to Europe.
Loved someone you couldn’t have. (this is tumblr be fuckin for real)
Used a coloring book over age 12. (I actually do it for service hours now! If you're interested look into Color a Smile! It's actually so fun and my service group gives us 1/2 hour per sheet)
Had surgery.
Had stitches.
Taken a taxi.
Had more than 5 online conversations going at once. (I wouldn't doubt it--discord is a thing)
Had a hamster.
Dyed your hair.
Had something pierced. (Thinking about the time I got my 2nd lobes pierced and I didn't want to "overreact" by screaming and crying like when I got my firsts done at 9, so I numbed the pain by playing I hurt by Dance Moms Alum Brooke Hyland any time someone asked if I was okay--my ear lobes got infected and I had to remove my earrings so the holes closed. Forever sad about that because I'm aichmophobic so it'll take years before I think about getting them done again)
Gotten straight A’s.
Your parents sent you to a shrink. (I actually sent myself because 1. my ex convinced me and 2. I convinced me and it was worth it. I hope my therapist is well I haven't seen her since I graduated)

10 Question Meme Thing
So I was tagged by @simlishdistractions. We are about to get deep with these questions... or not. lol But these really make me think!
Questions from @simlishdistractions:
1) What is your longest marathon simming session?
- My longest marathon simming would have to be with the Sims 2. I played for four hours one time without a single crash. It has never happened ever again. lol
2) If you could visit one premade world as a real life place, which would it be?
- I would have to say Vacation Island in the Sims. You had three locations in one setting. Spend one day at the beach, the next camping and fishing, and then the final day snow boarding and drinking hot chocolate.
3) Tell me about a sim of your who you were saddest to lose (death, game glitch or whatever…)
- It’s two actually. Tyra and Thomas Brooks in my Sims 2 game. I was offline at the time so I couldn’t get to any Sims forums for help, or even Google an answer. I don’t know what happened, they just ended up glitching out so badly that I had to kill them off. It was not only devastating to me, but to their three children as well. Their oldest, Eva, ended up moving in with her husband - then boyfriend - to take care of her twin teen brothers.
4) If you could go back and change one thing about your simming, knowing what you know now, what would it be?
- This is a hard question. My first response would be never to discover cc, because that would save me many days, weeks, and sometimes months of weeding through cc trying to find the one that has messed up the whole game. But I LOVE cc, so I could never advise myself to stay away from it. So I would have to go with, get a larger hard drive and the best graphics card that I could afford.
5) Do you aim to give your sims a happy perfect life, or enjoy watching their struggle and misery? >:)
- Ha, ha. No! I love the drama and those “little” hiccups that come my sims way. I don’t even have to start drama because they get into it all on their own. Anyone who has followed my blog back with I still played Sims 2 knows all to well, from teen pregnancies, to love triangles, to cheating. If it can happen in game, my sims will have it tossed their way.
6) What do you sip or snack on while you’re simming?
- Most of the time it’s either hot tea or coffee, or a nice glass of water. I don’t snack much while simming, I find that it takes my attention partly away from enjoying the game. But if I do need to take a bit it’s normally tortillas with hummus or guacamole.
Questions from @sullivanrandomness
1) When you’re playing, do you have the game music on or off?
- I use to play with the music on, but now I turn it off. One, because I started my YouTube channel and I don’t want to get any copyright strikes or claims, and Two, it got annoying. And when I’m in a long session in CAS it kind of distracts me. I want to focus on the sims that I’m making not the background music.
2) How long have you been playing your current hood?
- Well in the Sims 4 it’s been since May or June I think. I accidentally deleted my old world and had to start a new one. In the Sims 3 I was playing a save from 2014 I believe, or possibly 2013. But I need to reinstall it after uninstalling the game because of some bad cc.
3) Uh-oh! Your game just exploded: are you going to rebuild or start afresh?
Rebuild. I love my simmies too much to just let them fade away into the ether.
4) What is your favourite Sims version and why?
- It would have to be the Sims 2. They were the most fully fleshed out sims that we have seen. They weren’t driven by whims or buffs. Their memories helped shape them, along with their “life” experiences. And they just seemed so much more alive to me. I know each game has its drawbacks. But if The Sims 3 was the Sims 2 with an open world (ported, and the core game engine designed correctly) with a color wheel. That would have been the bees knees for me!
5) What’s an expansion you’d love to see that EA never did for any version of the game?
- I would love a whole ep dedicated for vacations. Ranging from Cruise ships to a trip to the local amusement park. I posted an outline for ideas over on the main forum in the Game Ideas section. I just think it would be super cool to have true vacations where sims could either plan a jam packed getaway with activities, tours, etc. or just chill pool side or at the beach/lake able to sip on fruity drinks with little umbrellas. Order food pool side. Kids could be off doing supervised activities.
Or just a getaway for two. The ability to plan a “Ladies” vacation, leaving the hubby and kids at home for the weekend. Or a Guys Night Out. How about a Single cruise. Or a senior Golden Vacation. With custom packages that sims could plan and book, and all they would need to do is bring extra cash for souvenirs, etc.
And then you have your local theme park. Real roller coasters - steel tracks, wooden tracks, standing ones, etc. - with dips, loops, tunnels, a camera to take a picture at the end. Water ride. Ridable hunted house. Games - sims could also win prizes from pet gold fish to ginormous stuffed animals, other rides like the Jack Rabbit (found at Kennywood), skydrop, The Whip. Just basically all the awesomeness of Roller Coaster Tycoon but on The Sims scale. (sorry, went overboard)
6) Do you use cheats (apart from building cheats) when you play?
- Not in Sims 2 or Sims 3. With Sims 4 I find I’m more willing to use cheats like Motherlode if my sims need help paying their rent or bills. But outside of that, no, none.
7) Do you consider yourself primarily a player, builder or decorator? Or other?
- I would say a player. Simply because I love to play the game. I also can’t build to save my life. lol But I will if I’m pushed against a wall and can’t find what I’m looking for online.
8) Do you play pre-mades, your own sims or a mix?
- I haven’t truly played with pre-mades since the Sims. I have since with the other three games allowed my created sims meet and fall in love with pre-mades. But for me to play with all or at least half of them, they have to have wiggled their way into my heart. Those who do come to mind are the Ramaswamis, Ottomas, and Picaso. They became some of my Founder families in my old Sims 2 game.
9) What is your favourite kind of business to run? Or what kind would you like to run, if your game version allowed it?
- In the Sims 2 it’s a toss up between a restaurant and a clothing store. Both were super fun to do. But having to pick one, it would be the rastaurant, and I wish the way they had done OFB transfer over to Sims 3 and Sims 4 as well. It’s just not possible in either games like in Sims 2.
10) If you were a sim, what would be your aspiration and lifetime want? Feel free to translate that to your own game version - I only speak TS2!
- What would my aspiration and LTW be? Hm... I would have to say as aspirations go, having a Successful Lineage, where all my kids have an awesome life after the hubby and I kick them from the nest! LTW would be to reach Golden Anniversary.
And because I’m having so much fun!
Questions from @memoirsofasim:
1) How often do you play the sims?
- I normally play daily most days. But when I get burnt out I can go about a month without playing. I have a few challenges and just gameplay going on over on my YouTube channel, so I have to keep those fresh.
2) How long do you usually play the sims for in one session?
- Normally 2 hours. That has always been my max, sometimes I’ve gone 2.5 to 3 hours though.
3) Favourite expansion pack and why?
- I would have to say Super Star. I had so much fun when that ep came out. I even pre ordered it, and I remember it coming a day early. And those of use who got it over on N99 (neighborhood 99) shared picks and game play. It was done right - at least for me. The stalker though. ROFL Leaving those dead roses at your sim’s door. Made me cry from laughter all the time. And I was sad when we didn’t get something similar in Sims 2. And I don’t really care for the celebrity system in Sims 3, but I do enjoy Showtime.
4) Name a townie sim you never liked?
- I forget his full name, but Vald the vampire that came with the vampire GP. My sim, Pattie Newberry (Not So Berry) cannot stand him, though all he wants is to be her friend. lol She pulls pranks on him all the time, and even tried to fight him once. He stands outside her house wanting to be loved.
5) Have you ever made a sim of yourself?
- Yes, in Sims 2, Sims 3, and Sims 4. Never shared her with anyone though, and no pics. And never played her for long either. Just seems weird to me. Playing my sim self. lol
6) What is your favourite food?
- No matter how many foods I like, it will always be pizza! Favorite toppings but not all on the same pie: pepperoni, salami, gyro meat, shrimp, artichoke, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, pineapple, banana peppers, green and black olives, feta cheese, steak, onions, pesto, and hamburger.
7) Do you play with cc or no cc?
- Yes! ALL the cc. I would die without it.
8) How many mods do you currently use in your game?
- I am not sure. I just know I have ALL the mods. lol In all my games.
9) Do you play on a laptop or a desktop computer?
- Desktop. It’s my gaming pc. Can’t live without it. It’s my non human baby.
10) Do you own any pets?
- Yup, I sure do. We have one cat - Stormy. One turtle, he’s a red eared slider - Speedy. And one hamster - Vanilla. He’s so huge I call him Bear Claw, yes, the doughnut. He had a brother - Brown Sugar - who I called Pee Pee, since he peed all over the place. But he recently passed away. :(
So I don’t have any questions to add. So feel free to take from those listed above.
I’m tagging @shespeakssimlish, @greeneyedsims, @sommeliersims, @mysimsloveaffair, @snarkysims, @tikamosh, @icy-spicy-scalpel, @josiesimblr

My Top 10 Roller Coaster I’ve Ridden (as of June 2019)
For my first post on this blog (save for my introduction), I thought it would be fun to start of simple: with a list of my favorite roller coasters! Please keep in mind that as of now, I only have 49 credits, so this list will change drastically even by the end of the summer as I ride more rides. That being said, I feel like I have enough world-class coasters under my belt to put together a comprehensive first list. Plus it would be fun to look back and see how much this list has changed over the years! Anyways, without further ado:
Number 10: Blue Streak (Conneaut Lake Park)
This is sort of a hidden gem in northwestern Pennsylvania! Conneaut Lake Park is a rundown, super sketchy amusement park about 5 minutes from my college. The gem of this park is the Blue Streak, a classic wooden coaster opened in 1937 and consistently ranks decently in the Golden Ticket awards. It has a basic out-and-back layout, but the restraints leave room for a lot of airtime. The ride has definitely seen better days, so part of the fun is how sketchy the ride is. It also goes back into the woods, so a night ride on this ride is really great.
Number 9: Stormrunner (Hersheypark)
This Intamin launch coaster opened in 2004. When I was younger, this was always a bucket list coaster to me because of its inclusion in the Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 DLC. I finally rode it in 2015, and it was a really solid ride. The launch was a lot of fun, the top hat had some decent airtime, and the rolling snake dive is one of my favorite elements on any roller coaster.
Number 8: Thunderbolt (Kennywood)
I love wooden roller coasters. Another classic, Kennywood opened Thunderbolt in 1924. The drop right out the station is really fun, and the airtime is pretty solid and the drops into the ravine are a lot of fun. The interactions with Phantom’s Revenge are really cool, as well. Despite being older, it’s also in a lot better shape than Blue Streak.
Number 7: Diamondback (King’s Island)
This was a tough choice, deciding between this and the roller coaster at number 6. One of only two B&M Hypers I’ve ridden, this is an excellent ride. Solid airtime throughout, but not the most intense ride out there. The splashdown is a nice visual effect, but all in all this is just a nice solid ride that does everything it does good, but not exceptional at any one thing.
Number 6: Goliath (Six Flags Over Georgia)
The only other B&M Hyper I’ve ridden, I have to give Goliath the slight edge over Diamondback. The airtime is very good, and I found it to be much more intense; I even greyed out on the helix during one ride. The general consensus in the enthusiast community seems to be that this is one of the better B&M Hypers out there, and I can see why.
Number 5: Ravine Flyer II (Waldameer Park)
My top 5 are super close, and Ravine Flyer II is my favorite wooden coaster I’ve ridden despite not riding some top tier wooden coasters like El Toro and Voyage. However, this will probably always rank very highly for me due to the sentimental value to me. It has some really great airtime, the views of Lake Erie at the top of the lift hill are beautiful, and the airtime hills over the highway are a neat touch. It has a fun, out-of-control feeling throughout the whole ride. A backseat ride on this ride is really amazing.
Number 4: Millennium Force (Cedar Point)
A few years ago this would have been my number 1. It even kind of pains me to put it this low, because it is a really incredible ride. This ride is interestingly simultaneously both overrated and underrated. I don’t think it deserves the nickname “Millennium Forceless,” because I’ve had some pretty intense rides on this coaster. The first drop is incredible, and the views are beautiful. However, this ride doesn’t do much beyond that. The few airtime moments are pretty good, but the overbanked turns don’t really do much. It hauls the entire ride, and is still incredible, however.
Number 3: Phantom’s Revenge (Kennywood)
The first time I rode this ride, I was 12 years old and didn’t know about the famous second drop, and I’m told my reaction was priceless. I, love, this ride. It’s silky smooth, fast the entire way, the ejector airtime at the end is insanely fun. This ride is just an absolute blast.
Number 2: Maverick (Cedar Point)
Oh man this ride. From the second you leave the station to the second you hit the break run, this ride does not let up. The first drop always catches me off guard because I forget how intense it really is. The quick transitions throw you around all over the place. The airtime hill is really great. The inversions are quick and snappy. The launch is just a blast, pun intended, and the water jets are fun to watch. Then the stengel dives, my favorite part of the ride. Those things are violent and I love them. I love Maverick, it always gets my adrenaline pumping.
Number 1: Steel Vengeance (Cedar Point)
Oh my God, this ride is perfection. It’s so intense but so smooth, the airtime is out of this world. The outer banked turn is the coolest and most fun element I’ve ever experienced. It feels like it’s going to toss you right out of the train. The ride never lets up, and a rain ride is incredible. This thing hauls through it’s elements and throws you all around but never hurts. This ride leaves me speechless every time I ride it.

i meant 32!!! i didn't mean to make you sad!!!
lol!!!! Bri you’re so sweet i can’t!
32: Talk about a place you remember from your childhood.
There’s a park here called Kennywood - my grandparents used to take me and my siblings there every year :)
If you’ve ever seen the movie Adventureland (coincidentally with Seb’s gf), that was filmed at the actual real-life Kennywood :)
