Male reader who is Price's husband gets injured during a mission but doesn't tell anyone because he does not want to be a burden. So he fights through the mission with his injury. When the mission is over and the team is one their way to the heli, he collapses on top of Price and ends up needing life-saving surgery.
I don't know what's up with me and making the reader collapse 🤣
This turned out better than I expected 😌
John Price x Male!Reader [Angst&Fluff]
Warning; typical cod violence, mentions of stab wound/blood, reader pushes himself through the mission like a badass and a dummy, night is reader's codename, near-death experience, mentions of surgery
Masterlist.
Everything was going according to plan, which was a little unusual and should've put (M/n)'s mind in a state of alert.
The 141 had been given this mission, arriving was kinda easy since it was pitch black outside, but they had to walk their way to the main building where the hostages were. This was a sort of high-level mission, they will all be by themselves once they enter the building, seeing as the civilians had been placed strategically around the whole structure.
They had to split up and be able to handle themselves for this one.
The information given was quite accurate, an anonymous person gave out the specific room where the civilians would be that night, seeing as they change rooms every day, and on some particular days, the enemy had more guards than others. The information was too good, but they had to go through this, saving the hostages was their number one priority.
And now, with thermal cameras, each of them headed to the rooms as quietly as they could, reaching their respective doors and using the camera to read through the concrete how many people were inside. The five of them checked their rooms and got ready to breach.
They had to perform this ambush at the same time to prevent the enemy soldier from calling in more troops as a backup.
"In position," one by one announced, keeping a stiff position while waiting to activate the breaching explosive. The last one in place was (M/n), he got the room further than the rest, pretty much on the top floor before the rooftop, he was more secluded and separated than the rest of the team, which had proved plenty of times to be dangerous.
Arriving at the door, (M/n) saw through the thermal cam that there were six people inside. Two armed guards and four civilians were tied up. Every room was similar that day, with low security as they spread the hostages in many groups of two to three civilians.
Such a small amount of guards was like nothing for the 141.
"Breaching in 3... 2... 1," the collective sound of unison explosions probably reached the four-kilometer mark, and now, they had to move quickly before backup arrives.
(M/n) took out the guards like nothing as they were caught off-guard, their ears probably ringing from the loud explosion.
"Four hostages secure," he announced to the team as he approached the tied-up civilians and leaned down to free them, "It's okay, you're safe now."
But something was wrong, the four of them started squirming in their places, releasing loud noises muffled by the gags in their mouths. They were clearly trying to tell him something, frantically looking over his shoulder.
"Shit-!" Before (M/n) had time to react, the sharp pain of a blade piercing his side made him stumble, holding his side for a second before he gripped his gun with both hands to block a second incoming attack from his aggressor. He didn't even look like a guard, he was just a kid, not older than twenty years, yet the look in his eyes was filled with hunger for blood.
(M/n) didn't want to kill him, but even after knocking him to the ground, the boy kept fighting under his weight, and if he wanted to cause the less amount of inconvenience to the team, he was gonna have to do it.
He glanced over his shoulder at the civilians who were half tied, half free, "Don't look-!" His yell got cut off when he felt a slash on his chest, just above his vest. The four people behind him did as told, closing their eyes and turning away.
Grunting, (M/n) kept his gun pressed on the boy's chest, dodging the aggressive and unpredictable movements of his hands to avoid being cut more, and reaching for his combat knife, taking it out of its holder, and with one swift arm motion had the boy under him choking on his blood, his body no longer putting up a fight, his knife buried deep in his throat.
Sighing, (M/n) stood up, placing his hand on the wall to hold himself up, feeling the whole world spinning, but he couldn't be weak right now, and even if he had a bleeding wound, he couldn't inconvenience the rest of the team, making them come up to him would only take more time than what they already have. And that could be fatal.
//////
After the breaching, they had a limited amount of time for the evacuation, and (M/n) has taken longer than he should've.
Taking the hostages out was proving to be harder than anything.
After hearing one of them shriek as a bullet hit the concrete wall, (M/n) gave them specific instructions to stay behind him or stay low and hide behind anything that could cover their body and block the bullets. They did as they were instructed, too scared about dying to even make their own decisions.
(M/n) struggled to take the civilians to the ground floor since most of the enemy troops were coming in from the rooftop, making him the one that was shooting most of them.
Thankfully, Ghost had been the first to have secured his group of civilians and had secured a safe spot for sniping to provide (M/n) some backup as he evacuated the building. (M/n) felt a little more relieved when he saw their bodies falling one after the other, taking the chance to guide the civilians down the stairs and out of the building.
He ran to the safe building while Price joined Ghost, now two snipers watching his back as he tried to regain enough energy to run the building where the team was.
The first evacuation helicopter took off with the civilians and they had to take the second one, patiently for (M/n) to arrive at the rooftop.
Even though his sight was blurry, (M/n) saw his husband walk up to him, and blinking a few times, he saw a small smile pull Price's lips up. He was happy that (M/n) was still alive and kicking ass as always. (M/n) show him a weak smile back, taking a wobbly step forward, before seeing black.
His body collapsed on Price, who held him internally freaking out.
"(M/n)! Honey, what hap-?!" His voice cut off when his hand came in contact with something warm and thick. Blood. "Bloody hell!"
The rest of the team rushed to their captain immediately, helping him carry (M/n)'s unconscious body as quickly as they could to the helicopter. Poor pilot, she got scared when she got yelled at, being told to fly to base as fast she could, because Lieutenant Night was in critical condition.
//////
Price was sitting outside the surgery room they had in the infirmary. He wasn't crying just yet, but his mind kept going over the doctor's words.
"He might not make it, Captain."
John has always been a man who sees in someone what others don't, and where other military personnel saw (M/n) as reckless and mindless, he saw him as someone who worried about his teammates over himself, someone who had courage as hard as a wall of tungsten metal. More than once he has risked his life to save others, and he felt proud of that, despite having been called a liability most of his life by his superiors.
So John knew, (M/n) had overcome stuff like this before, every time getting closer to never waking up again, but he would not give up that small spark of hope. His husband was gonna live, he was sure about.
For hours, Price sat on one of those uncomfortable plastic chairs, but at some point, he didn't care anymore, his mind far gone to every happy memory he made with (M/n). They met in SAS when John had just become Lieutenant and (M/n) was a kid who had lost everything, finding comfort in the military.
Working together brought them closer, falling in love in mere months. They dated secretly for years until (M/n) got kicked out of the SAS, the higher-ups covering it as a transfer, calling him a 'reckless man In need of discipline'. Well, it turns out Price had asked for his transfer to the first team he commanded as captain, and from then on, they had been together every step of the way.
They had been married for six years already, dating for ten years, but every time they looked at each other they felt that spark of the first time. None of them could ever forget that.
Those moments made them feel like they could do anything, overcome any obstacle if they were together, feeling like the world was a little more peaceful when in each other's presence.
Price didn't wanna think of a life where (M/n) wasn't part of it. And luckily, he didn't have to.
After hours, the surgeon came out of the room, taking off his gloves, face mask, and robe, a smile on his face was enough to make Price's eyes prick with tears.
"The surgery was a success, Captain, he should wake up in a couple of hours," Price let out a loud, long sigh, his arms resting on his knees as he leaned forward, holding his head in his hand.
He stood up and extended his hand to the surgeon, "Thank you, sir, I owe you."
The man simply smiled and turned to head to the door.
"I'm just doing my job, Captain."
//////
By the time (M/n) opened his eyes it was almost midday, not that he knew anyway. His eyes squinted at the pain he felt all over his body, and he saw Price on the chair next to his bed, patiently waiting for him to gain full consciousness.
Well, here comes the scolding...
"Don't do that ever again, you hear me?" He said while standing up, leaning down to gently hug him, holding (M/n) close to him, and crying on his chest, "I was so afraid of losing you, honey."
He didn't have to ask (M/n) why hadn't said anything about being injured, he knew the way his husband thought about himself. 'I'll just be a burden to the team, John,' he would repeat every time something happened.
But this time was different. Price realized he could've lost (M/n) because of him not letting them know he was wounded, and tears were brought to (M/n)'s eyes when realized he almost left John all alone.
John looked up and held (M/n)'s left hand with his left hand, their marriage rings clicking together.
"In sickness and in health, remember?"

It always catches me off guard when in Moriarty the Patriot fanfiction William is characterized as someone who is afraid of change or gets visibly angry/scared when things don't go according to his plan
He is all about adaptation to circumstances
A little boy with his brother, one year younger: live in an abandoned old library, and are constantly quitting orphanages. Staying steadily in one orphanage only when Louis begins to have a heart condition, because Will realizes that he will need help of adults with this
He agrees to Albert's invitation, which was neither expected nor anticipated + we know Will and Louis had their own money (we saw them in the courtroom chapters). So in the orphanage, they most likely tried to find people with contacts of doctors who could perform the necessary surgery. Because we also know that they ended up in THIS orphanage AFTER they were caught by the security guards of the largest library in London, where they were - I guess - looking for medical books to compare them to Louis' symptoms and give a name to what was happening to him
And the final plan for the destruction of the class system, which included only crime and Will's death at the end (or the three brothers going to jail, as everyone was told), and Will still being able in the process to: 1) made Sherlock the protagonist - when the three of them were supposed to be the protagonists of everything; 2) rescued Irene Adler/Bond from the British government, which was very risky; 3) went up against the Blackmailing King and lost, but still used it to his advantage.
Like... William James Moriarty should be considered as synonym to ”adaptation„. It is literally EVERYTHING he was doing all his life.

The Devil That Is Capitalism
Content Warning: this post is going to potentially be talking about a whole smorgasbord of dicey topics including child abuse, child sexual abuse, child soldiers, war crimes, death, fates worse than death, politics, militarism, casual mention of suicide, and, of course, capitalism.
Also Spoiler Warning for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
Reader discretion is advised.
Tumblr media
Mobile Suit Gundam has always been a series about the horrors of war. To me, though, one of the more fascinating things about the series is that a lot of the wars in the various timelines stem from some form of unchecked capitalism. Though I haven't watched every series in the franchise yet, I do think one series in particular stands out in its portrayal of capitalism and its woes: 2015's Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Strap yourselves in, because this is going to be an extremely long post, and make sure that you've read the content warning at the top of the post.
Oh, and it might help to read my Spoilery Rant on Iron-Blooded Orphans. It is informed, in part, by what I'm about to say in this post. And also make sure you read the context post about Gundam and its thematic ties to capitalism. And you might want to open up TVTropes' character page, because there are going to be a lot of nouns thrown around.
Left For The Wolves
Tumblr media
Iron-Blooded Orphans begins with our titular orphans, the Third Company of the Chryse Guard Security organization (CGS), being chosen to escort one Kudelia Aina Bernstein from Mars to Earth so that she can meet with the leaders of the Earth economic blocs and negotiate the freedom of her nation of Chryse. After they are left to die by their superiors when Gjallarhorn, the protectors of the Earth sphere, attack, the Third Company manage to pull through using an old Mobile Suit that CGS had been using as a power source: the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos (ehe intensifies). Once the dust settles, the members of the Third Group stage a violent coup against their owners and rename themselves Tekkadan: the Iron Flower That Never Wilts.
And right away, we can see how capitalism shapes the Post-Disaster timeline. The fact that children are not only forced to pick up undesirable jobs in order to just barely eke out a living, to say nothing of the fact that those who become child soldiers are forced to undergo surgery to have the Alaya-Vijyana System implanted into them. And, uh...
Getting the AV Implant is not good. IF the surgery is successful, then you are now capable of piloting the tank-like Mobile Worker. But due to the fact that the Alaya-Vijyana System has been outlawed by Gjallarhorn, the only people who perform it by the time Iron-Blooded Orphans are back alley doctors. And if your body rejects the AV System, you'll only be paralyzed from the waist down. If you're lucky.
So it's either that or, in the case of Atra, it's brothel work. The only thing that saved Atra was the fact that she was too young to do anything serious, so she was relegated to cleaning and dishwashing. But it isn't unheard of for these Martian street rats to be used for the other unsavory acts, as we'll soon find out.
Pitting the Poor Against One Another (Featuring Ein Dalton)
Tumblr media
Another aspect of Iron-Blooded Orphans that exemplifies the worst parts of capitalism is how the systems put in place by capitalism will pit poor people against other poor people. The best example of this in action in IBO is everyone's favorite ball of rage: Ein Dalton.
Like the orphans who populate Tekkadan, Ein is a member of Gjallarhorn who was born and raised in Mars. Of course, due to its nature as a colony of the Earth Sphere, citizens of Mars are generally treated as second-class citizens. And even though he is a soldier of Gjallarhorn, Ein is treated just like the street rats of Mars. It is important to note that when Ein is introduced, the only person who really respects him as a human being is his direct superior Crank Zent.
And Crank ends up committing suicide by Tekkadan. And then Tekkadan, the people who killed Crank, end up commandeering his Mobile Suit for their own purposes. This ends up setting up a good amount of bad blood between Ein and Tekkadan, which lasts for the rest of the first season. And it's a real shame for Ein since, in theory, he and the members of Tekkadan have a shared upbringing as Martian citizens. But because Ein is working for Gjallarhorn, he is placed in an organization that treats him as a second-class citizen. And only two people in this organization treat him with respect: the now deceased Crank and Gaelio Bauduin, who takes Ein under his wing immediately after Crank's passing.
This kind of exploitation that pits marginalized groups against one another is a key component of capitalism and its more sinister cousin, imperialism. Since Mars is treated as a place that has lots of resources, the people don't matter. The people only exist to help extract said resources. So this, coupled with Ein being stuck in an organization where one of the few people who treat him as a human being is killed off for rather selfish (but really understandable) reasons, he ends up loathing the people whose struggles are most sympathetic to his own.
So when a mortally wounded Ein gets strapped into the EB-AX-2 Graze Ein, it makes sense in a really sad way that he is reduced to a screaming mess of a mechanical monster. And boy, if I had a nickel for every time Iron-Blooded Orphans introduced a screaming mechanical monster, well... you should just start calling me Doofenschmertz. But more on that soon.
It's All About Who Has the Power and the Money
Tumblr media
Moving on to Gjallarhorn itself, we can see how capitalism and the status quo has made the organization complacent. Our first introduction to Gjallarhorn includes the head of the Mars Branch being bribed by Kudelia's father in an attempt to bring her back home. The Mars Branch head decides that killing her along with everyone who is trying to give her passage to Earth. So right from the get-go, we know that Gjallarhorn members are willing to commit crimes all because no one will really stop them. After all, Gjallarhorn have basically been the one true military power in the Post-Disaster timeline for more than 300 years at this point.
Gjallarhorn at this point is a corrupt and hollow shell of its former self. At this point in the Post-Disaster timeline, the organization has gone from a group that protected humanity from the Mobile Armors to an organization that protects the status quo at all costs while protecting the worst of the lot. The attack on CGS at the beginning of the series is a great example of this, and it doesn't stop there.
Gjallarhorn is guilty of election interference due to their involvement with economic bloc nation Arbrau's elections, as they had place Tomonosuke Makanai under house arrest in an attempt to keep him from being elected. Gjallarhorn is also guilty of committing multiple false flag operations, which I will talk about later. There's also the fact that one of the heads of the Seven Stars married off his son to a child, though in that case that is largely to make said son look bad (and we'll touch on the son soon).
And nothing exemplifies Gjallarhorn's descent into decadence more than at least two heads of the Seven Stars, Carta Issue and Iok Kujan, being glory hounds who will sacrifice all of their men just to look good. Both only look out for themselves, with the latter in particular being a detriment to not just his enemies but his allies as well. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Iok actively screws everyone over by being the biggest failson the series has to offer. And Iok's stupidity rears its head at one of the worst moments imaginable: the awakening of the Mobile Armor Hashmal. And the worst part about this? Hashmal isn't the biggest monster the series has to offer.
The monster is also not Gundam Barbatos, or really any of the Gundam frames, for that matter.
The Real Monster Was Rustal Elion
Tumblr media
One of the more maddening takes that's pervasive one places like Reddit is the idea that Orga and McGillis are the bad guys. Like we all just forgot that Rustal Elion exists? Or for that matter Nobliss Gordon, Jasley Donomikols, or Iok Kujan?
And the real irony of this is that, contrary to what Gundam is famous for, Iron-Blooded Orphans is one of the few Gundam series where there are actual, capital V villains. Yes, our protagonists are violent even by the standards of Gundam protagonists and will do whatever it takes to win, but they're all creations of the systems of violence that capitalism have produced. And yes, that does include resident Char Clone McGillis Fareed (though, as I have said before, I can understand if someone said he was a villain too). It turns out being a street urchin who is adopted by a man who would proceed to sexually abuse McGillis is going to mess you up mentally. That's why, in their final confrontation, Gaelio can only look on McGillis in pity. It doesn't absolve McGillis of any wrongdoing, but it does make sense why he wouldn't trust anyone with his plan of dismantling Gjallarhorn. Doubly so when Gaelio all but states that he would have joined McGillis in his cause had the latter just opened up to the former.
But people like YouTuber Boofire191 will swear to you that the "protagonists" are the bad guys. Right...
Because performing multiple false flag operations as a justification for committing multiple war crimes makes you a good guy, right? Because that's something that both Rustal and Iok have done, twice in the case of Rustal specifically, three times if we count him as also being Iok's superior.
Or murdering civilians in cold blood just to get a rise out of your rival? That has Jasley written all over it. Oh, and Iok is also partly responsible for this as well as killing off unarmed civilians on top of hiring Jasley.
Or, for that matter, trying to have a Martian politician assassinated? Nobliss tried to pull this off with Kudelia in season one. Heck, Nobliss' whole MO is fighting for Martian independence in such a way that he can also make a profit while doing so. That's why he ultimately sells Tekkadan out to Rustal in season 2.
Or what about awakening a mobile armor even though your enemies are literally telling you not to? Because Iok sure didn't care about the fact that he could potentially awaken the nightmare of the Calamity War. His foolish mistakes end up costing everyone everything, including Rustal.
Yes, really. Iok is so much of a failson that he manages to ruin Rustal's plans. Because remember: Rustal's end game is not just restoring the status quo. It's restoring the status quo in such a way that he, Rustal Elion, would be the new head of the Seven Stars. Of course, Iok screws this up in the best way he ever could:
By slowly getting slowly crushed to death by Akihiro and the Gusion Rebake Full City.
Tumblr media
I single out Rustal, by the way, for one very specific reason: he's the only one of these villains who is still alive by the end of the show. Jasley gets his just desserts when Tekkadan leaves Teiwaz (which I haven't even mentioned, good lord) for the sole purpose of getting revenge for Naze Turbine and company's demise at the hands of Jasley. Nobliss Gordon is gunned down in a bathroom stall by an older Ride Mass, which makes for a fitting end for a greedy corporate fat cat like Gordon. And that slimeball named Iok Kujan... is crushed to death in the most satisfying of manners by the GOAT, Akihiro Altland.
I had to bring it up again. Iok's death always sparks joy in me.
But Rustal is not defeated. And this is important, because Rustal represents the status quo. This is why my point about Iok screwing things up even for Rustal is so important: with at least four of the Seven Stars families out of commission, it is all but impossible for things to continue the way they are now. And remember, Rustal still wins in the end. He gets to save face as the hero who stopped the Devil of Tekkadan, all while people don't hear about the war crimes he committed just to do so.
And don't forget: the people Rustal won against were almost exclusively children. He slaughtered children in the name of the status quo.
Conclusion
Tumblr media
To tie it all together, everything in the Post-Disaster timeline is about power. Money speaks volumes in Iron-Blooded Orphans, and it's what sets Orga and Tekkadan on their path to fame, infamy, and ruin. Tekkadan's arrival onto the scene, alongside the scheming of one McGillis Fareed, sets us up for a situation where people who could shake things up are appearing. And if there is anything capitalists hate, it's anything that rocks the boat.
In a way, Rustal Elion ultimately serves as the setting's equivalent to an immune response. These dangerous entities have appeared and are threatening the status quo, so it is up to Rustal and his Arianrhod Fleet to crush them. And like an immune response, whether it be a real one or the kind seen in Cells At Work, his response is ruthless. But it isn't enough, and he is ultimately forced to compromise.
And that, to me, is a fitting end to a man obsessed with power.

Heartbeat
My first Vanessamanda fic! Dedicated to @burgershopsammi @tired-bunni @vannysgirl @mallickscottkisser
I’m so excited for this. I know I only posted the preview today, but I really wanted to put it out because it was finished but I thought that the editing would take a little while but I ended up finishing that . There’s mentions of child abuse, and heavy implications of Ness and Mandy hooking up.
Vanessa was used to cleaning up her father’s messes, and she thought she would escape that when she left Utah for New Jersey two years ago, but in a sad unfortunate twist of fate; she became an apprentice to America’s most wanted serial killer.
Cleaning up another old man’s blood stained messes.
But at least she met her wife by doing that. It was January 2006, The two of them had just gotten married illegally last month; despite knowing each other for only 18 months.
Same sex marriage wasn’t legal and Vanessa knew that it was unfair that she had to go the illegal route to get married. She was supposed to be upholding the law, not breaking it. But on the other hand, she didn’t give a fuck. She loved Amanda.
She mindlessly played with the ring on her finger until she was snapped out of her thoughts by a nuzzle against her cheek. “Hey, bunny. You okay back here?”
“I’m fine, Mandy. It’s just the game John has planned for April has me fucked up. Does he seriously want to kidnap a doctor and have them perform surgery on his fucking brain?!”
“John knows what he’s doing. It sounds mundane, but please don’t question him like that, okay?” Amanda’s slightly bitter tone sent sparks of electricity through Vanessa. If this was a bedroom situation, and Amanda was speaking to her like that, she would fold like a lawn chair. But since this was a disturbing situation, she was disgusted. She knew if she was anybody else, Amanda would be flipping her lid and screaming at her.
Amanda had a very weird relationship with John, and not in a good way. As a police officer, Vanessa has seen this case countless times. Amanda was a victim of grooming, John being the perpetrator.
Vanessa knew her wife was a victim of childhood abuse, and she recognized that John took advantage of that, especially at her lowest.
John had punished and tortured Amanda because she was a drug addict, claiming that this could fix her.
What John fails to realize though is abused children become abused adults, some of them having severely broken minds.
Watching John willingly take advantage of her wife, made her want to kill him, but she couldn’t. By killing John, Vanessa would be risking everything she had with Amanda.
Amanda pulled her in for a hug. “ I know you worry about me, but I promise I’m fine,” Amanda began, peppering kisses along Vanessa’s collarbone. “You need to relax.”
“ I cannot relax and you know that.”
“Why? Is that fucking weirdo security guard still looking for you?!”
“His name is Mike and I don’t know. He’s not weird, he knows I’m a lesbian and has not asked me out on any dates since I told him I was before I left Utah.”
Vanessa could see partial jealousy in Amanda‘s eyes. It was the protective type and she understood why her wife Felt the way she did.
“ I don’t trust any men besides John around you, not only because of my past, but because of yours. I had an abusive father, and so did you. But yours also killed a bunch of children and made you clean up the mess at the age of 12.”
Vanessa’s green eyes looked into Amanda’s “Babe, I don’t need a play-by-play of my childhood thank you. And I was nine.”
But the fact that she didn’t trust any men besides John made Vanessa sick inside. John was tearing Amanda apart, and since that evil old bastard had her right where she wanted him, she couldn’t even see it.
“You wanna go out? We could go to Wendy’s. We haven’t had a date night in a while.” Amanda’s offer cut through Vanessa’s thoughts like a butter knife. “Yeah. Why not?”
~
Vanessa, being nearly as tall as Mark Hoffman, threatened the hell out of him to take care of John and that’s how they were able to go out for the night. The two of them sat at a table, drowned out by chatter. two toddler aged siblings were play fighting on the floor near the couple, laughing.
“You still want kids with me one day?” Amanda asked, making a small gesture to the children.
“ Neither of us are mentally sound enough to take care of another human being, let alone multiple. Besides, we have a dog named Sparky, and I think she counts as our child.”
“VANESSA?!”
Vanessa knew that voice. Her body went rigid, her finger trembling against the table as she gripped it. She never wanted Mike to find her for her own sake, and yet he did. Amanda got up and stalked towards Mike. “What fucking business do you have asking for my girlfriend?” Amanda snapped. She wanted to say wife so badly, but she could not risk going back to jail.
“I’m sorry, who are you?” Mike asked, clearly bewildered.
“I’m sorry, Let me be more fucking formal this time. I’m Amanda, Vanny’s girlfriend, and you had no business coming in here to bother her.”
“It's a public restaurant. Besides, she’s a friend of mine.”
“ I don’t give a shit if it’s a public restaurant, ‘Mike’. “
All eyes were on Amanda now. Her relationship with Vanessa was nobody’s business, and this asshole from Utah was getting on her nerves.
Vanessa still sat at that table, just wanting to go back to their apartment.
“Ness?”
Vanessa’s head snapped up. There stood Abby, now sixteen. She hasn’t seen her since she left. “Hi, Abby. How are you?” Those were the only words she could get out, her brain still completely wracked.
“I’m okay, I guess. Was I the reason you left?”
Vanessa finally turned. “No, no, no. It wasn’t you. It was-“
“ It was Mike, wasn’t it?” Abby cut her off before she could tell her why, The teenager stormed off and started yelling at her brother. Amanda walked back, wrapping an arm around Vanessa. “Babe, we’re going home.” Amanda sounded almost aggressive and it didn’t help that Vanessa was trying to hold back tears.
It wasn’t Mike.
It wasn’t Abby.
It was her dead father, and that fucking restaurant of his.
She wanted to get away from it all. But now that the entire country knew who her father was, would she be able to? She legally changed her last name from Afton to a last name she picked out herself, Shelly, when she was 18 in 1993. It was the only way she could try to distance herself from him as much as she could, but even as a police officer, he was still controlling everything she did, and making sure she cleaned up every single victim he had.
And now, she was stuck doing it again.
She had her missing piece with her, but it was still a cycle of repetitive abuse. The two of them were nothing but puppets, the puppet master now in a stolen hospital bed in a crude replication of a hospital room.
Amanda helped Vanessa in the back of her car, seeing the stress in her eyes.
When they got back to the meat packing plant, Amanda quickly got her girlfriend inside and immediately to their shared mattress that lay on top of two floor shelving units. Sparky, their rescued German shepherd mix curled beside Vanessa in an attempt at comfort. Amanda kissed Vanessa’s lips before nuzzling her face and putting a blanket over her.
“Sleep well, Vanny. I love you,” Amanda breathed as she crawled into bed beside her. “Always.”
Sparky moved in between her human moms, wriggling until she flopped on her back.
~
Vanessa jolted awake in a sweat, sobbing. Amanda stirred. “Bunny?” She mumbled, voice thick with sleep. “What’s wrong, baby?”
“My dreams. I’m brought back to June 23rd,1985. I’m still nine, and I’m in the arcade of Freddy’s. My dad, William, calls for me. Mama was at work, so I often stayed at Freddy’s until dad left. I assumed he called my name because we were going home, but no. I stood in the doorway of the back room and I saw-“
Vanessa shook as she began to hyperventilate. Amanda pulled her in, whispering in her ear. “Ground yourself, Nessie. He’s not here, he cannot hurt you anymore. If he even tries to find you, I’ll kill him myself. Okay?”
Vanessa gripped Amanda. Once she calmed down, she murmured, “I’ll kill yours, too. I know what he did to you, Mandy. I read his file at the station, and the amount of visceral rage he gives me is so fucking palpable.”
Amanda didn’t even flinch. She just leaned in, and kissed her cheek. “Little miss law breaker… I should put you in cuffs for that, you know.” Amanda winked, a light joke in the heat of the moment.
“Wouldn’t be the first time you stole my cuffs only to use them on me. Remember New Year’s Day 2005?”
“Of course I remember last year. We almost got caught by Hoffman. Absolutely disgusting.” Amanda grimaced, Vanessa laughing.
“Not my fault!”
“Yes, it was, blondie. You’re loud.”
“You’re an asshole.”
“But you love me.”
“Do I?” Vanessa joked, Amanda smothering her in kisses. “Yeah, you do.”
Vanessa kissed her back. “Of course I do.”
The two leaned back when Sparky wanted love. The pup was essentially their child, completing their family in a way.
But there was always the gnawing feeling of wanting more.
But in their line of ‘work’, it was impossible. Vanessa and Amanda wouldn’t dare bring a child into their world of blood and pain.
The two lay on that dingy mattress, dreaming of a life that could’ve been theirs. No games, no John Kramer, no blood to scrub off of walls. Just them, Sparky, a home, and maybe a child or two.
But dreams are just that. Dreams.

Dick went to prison in Titans?? -Rotten Anon
I'm getting ready for bed but this is SOOOOO FUNNY to me and I feel the need to tell you the context because it's just SOOO
Like Titans is a comedy. Strap in.
Also because you haven't seen the show, I could tell you anything about it and you would have to believe me, but please know that EVERYTHING I am about to tell you is 100% canon to HBO Titans and the fucking Wattpad style of storytelling is one of the reasons I love the show SO. FUCKING. MUCH.
TLDR: Dick got himself arrested on purpose because he wanted a big kid timeout. But like this post is SOOO long because once I get chatting about Titans I can't fucking stop 🤭😂
SO - partway through Season 2, the Titans have a Destiny's Child style breakup (but it's really more like a Fall Out Boy style hiatus because they all come back later) because Dick tells everyone that he liked about the circumstances of Jericho's death and they're all mad because he's a liar and because ?? he supposedly got Jericho killed. When Jericho's gay little ass admired Dick so much that he THREW HIMSELF in front of the sword (I can talk more about that in another post).
Anyway, everyone is mad at Dick so they leave Titans Tower and #quittheband (for now) and there is a 2 or 3 episode span where they are all doing very different things, and there is no explicit timeline for how long they are apart in these episodes. When it follows Gar, it explicit states that he is alone for 3 days before Conner wakes up and in those 3 days he gones insane from loneliness, BUT - the time also seems way longer than days (it seems way more like weeks or months) because it is enough time for:
Conner to get kidnapped by Cadmus and have his entire mind reprogrammed so that he is a Cadmus robot
Gar also gets kidnapped and has BRAIN SURGERY performed on him to become a Cadmus slave
Dawn and Hank move to somewhere in the countryside, start fixing up a house, break up, and then Hank relapses in his addiction and joins an underground fighting ring where he gets beaten up for money
Rachel gets adopted by a group of homeless teenagers
Jason and Rose go back to Gotham and break up SEVERAL drug rings as Robin and Ravager
And Dick goes to prison
And the circumstances of Dick's arrest are HILARIOUS to me
The Titans all go their separate ways, and Dick is in the airport, and Dick asks the person at the check in desk for a ticket to the most isolated place possible, which she says is Greenland - so you expect that he's going to do what he does best - emotionally (and in this case physically) isolate himself and cut himself off from everyone
But then he oh so randomly crumples up his ticket (clearly changing his mind about his plans) and he ATTACKS ONE OF THE AIRPORTS SECURITY GUARDS?? And he gets arrested on purpose. Because he basically - he went to prison on purpose because the way he thought of it, he "murdered" Jericho, so he needed to go to prison to pay for his crimes.
Aka - big baby put himself on a time out on purpose.
And the whole point of the storyline is that it helps him mature and become Nightwing. And there is this element of it that feels pretty White Savior - because when he goes into the prison, he vows that he is "done helping people", but then his bunk mates are all from Mexico and they are being deported - and in their hometown, because they refused to join a gang (or because they fought back against a gang? I wasn't 100% clear on that part) they will be killed if they return, so they are going to make a prison break in order to illegally stay in America to avoid deportation. And Dick helps them with their prison break
And one of them spoke of a spirit named Alezule (I am probably spelling that wrong) who is a protector/savior who will make sure they are safe, and it's like a blue bird (like NIGHTWING) - and the symbolism is insisting that when Dick helped them with their prison break, he was becoming Nightwing
There's also this parallel because one of his worst moments was using his costume and skills as Robin to disrupt a prison transport truck carrying the head of the Maroni (again, bad spelling) crime family - and he left him exposed to be killed by his enemies as revenge for his parents being killed. And this came back around and got his entire circus family killed
And this time he used his skills to disrupt a prison transport and saved a family when he had previously vowed not to help them. Idk
Anyway - another thing I find hilarious about it is that after a hallucination of Bruce Wayne that is projected by Rachel (again, I can expand in another post), gathers Dawn, Donna, Kory and Rachel at a diner together and "mansplains them into putting the Titans back together" (Kory's literal words) - there is a news story on TV about Dick helping the prison escape and Donna literally says "he's on his own, we're not helping him. Whatever cross he's on, he nailed himself to it" and like SHE KNOWS HIM SO WEEEELLL
And so Rachel convinces Kory to go 'save' Dick and so they BREAK INTO THE PRISON, beat up a bunch of prison guards, and when they find Dick, his cell is empty 🤭 because he is gone (and that is not even mentioning the Bruce hallucinations HE was having and the fucking weird ass epiphany he had)
Yeah. He just escaped prison and the show DOES NOT GIVE ANY DETAILS. The show completely glosses over how he did it. (Which is something I kind of love about Titans. They gloss over things that are kind of majorly important to focus on joke conversations and dramatic freak outs).
And so Dick has a federal warrant for his arrest on his head for the rest of the show that is NEVER mentioned again - unless Daddy Bruce somehow magically made it go away 🤷‍♀️

Whumpee needing emergency, improvised surgery in a hotel room. Medic caretaker trying their best to save whumpee’s life.
No pressure :)
Three knocks. The first loud, the second forced, desperate even, and the final no more than a tap. Hero sprung up from their bed. No one was supposed to know where they were. The agency wasn’t scheduled to contact them until the morning. With a certain wariness, Hero shrugged off their sheets and padded to the door.
They worked to slide away the chair placed in front of the threshold. Having been given a mission out of their usual jurisdiction, the hotel room was their temporary home, and unfortunately lacking when it came to security. Hero slid aside several locks and tried to ignore the racing scenarios on their head. They undid the triggers they had strung on their own, and leaning forward took a glance through the peephole. Nothing. Though upon closer inspection a shadow cast along the hallway. Wavering.
Hero went against their better judgment and opened the door. A figure stumbled through and as such the Hero jumped back. They were hunched over, a dark coat wrapped around their shoulders as they nearly fell into the room. Hero fumbled for a lightswitch, hands up in a guarded position. Ready for a fight. They tensed as light fell upon the room, revealing a face they could never forget. Villain.
Every instinct triggered to life within the Hero’s core, anticipation running through their nerves. Their enemy did not step forward. Hobbled was more accurate. They swayed back and forth, only leaving the Hero with more questions. Villain looked drunk. Villain had to be drunk. But even then, how had they found Hero’s location? Why had they come here?
A single word fell from Villain’s lips, more of a rasp than anything.
“Please-” they said, the word trickling off into a shaky breath. Hero raised an eyebrow, wary and somewhat irked, until they saw Villain’s hand come away from their torso. The coat had hidden it beneath its dark fabric, but finally Hero saw the paleness to Villain’s cheeks, their drooping eyelids, and the hand at their side, slick with blood.
Hero moved before they could think. Against every impulse they rushed to Villain’s side, an arm wrapped around their shoulder, guiding them to the bed. They sat Villain on the edge and moved to flick on every lamp, suddenly aware of how shallow Villain’s breathing was. Hero took in the sight of their nemesis, no sign of fight in their limbs. They hadn’t come to spark a battle, this couldn’t be a trap- could it? Hero pulled the coat from Villain’s shoulders where the white shirt beneath was soaked in red. They lifted the shirt and tensed to find a large gash beneath, running the length of Villain’s torso. A curse fell from their lips.
“Who?” They said, already reaching for a clean towel. Pristine white, but not for long.
Villain grit their teeth. Their eyes squeezed tight and they suppressed a cry as Hero repositioned them to lay on their back, head propped by a few pillows. “S-superhero,” they managed to gasp. “Got too close, ‘m sorry.”
Millions of scenarios ran through Hero’s head. A fight, sparked on whether or not Villain had wanted it to. What weapon had caused such a wound? And more, what had driven Superhero to create so much damage? They had always been unrelenting in their methods, but this? Villain could die- and the Hero wasn’t supposed to care. They shouldn’t be afraid. They shouldn’t help. They should be basking in victory, but the blood-soaked figure beneath them gave another pained cry, and both fear and rage coursed through the Hero. Villain couldn’t die.
Villain wouldn’t die.
“I think you’re going to need stitches.” Hero had already moved to retrieve the first aid kit they were required to keep on hand. It shouldn’t have sent anxiety flooding through their veins. They had performed the procedure dozens of times. Only Hero had only ever done so on themself.
A small cloth remained at their side. Hero retrieved it, offering it to the Villain. “Here, bite down hard. I’ll be careful, but it's going to hurt.” They cursed themselves for lacking any kind of painkiller or anesthesia. The first aid kit was plentiful, but not close to true hospital care by any means.
They allowed Villain the time to gather themselves and took the same time to prepare their own mind. With a new towel, they cleaned the wound the best they could. Needle and thread sterilized Hero took a steadying breath. They tried not to look at Villain who shivered, pain showing through the crease in their brow. Time was limited.
The first contact sent a jolt through Villain and they bit down hard to keep from moving. Unknown to the Hero, they hated anything sharp, especially needles. Eyes shut tight, they tried to ignore the pain, even as the hot sensation burned every nerve. Each prick was a shock. Villain grimaced, hot tears flowing against their will. “Keep breathing,” they heard the Hero say. It was distant, as if behind a wall of glass.Villain tried to latch onto their voice. In and out. Breathe.
Seconds felt like hours. Minutes, centuries. Sweat gathered on the Hero’s brow, eyes narrowed with each stitch. They hated to see Villain shudder every time the needle passed through, though it served as the steady reassurance that they were still alive. About halfway done, Hero kept moving.
A few more stitches in Hero felt the Villain’s body begin to slacken. At first it seemed as if they were accustomed to the feeling now, fear fading slightly. On closer inspection they saw Villain’s eyes drooped, panicked breaths slowing. “No,” Hero tried to hide the frantic tone of their voice, “Villain, keep breathing okay? I need you to stay awake. I know it hurts, but you’ve got to stay awake for me.”
A whimper fell from Villain’s lips. Their fists that had clenched tight now loosened. They were trying, Hero could see it in their eyes, but Villain was fading quickly.
They rushed to finish, hands fumbling. Villain’s pale face gazed upon them lazily. Tears welled in the corners of their eyes, enough to flow down their cheeks and onto the pillows. The bed was stained red, a reminder of the little time Hero had. Faster.
Relief flooded their senses the moment Hero tied off the suture with a surgeon’s knot only to be replaced with dread. Villain’s eyes had slipped shut.
“Hey,” they discarded the needle and thread, “Hey.” Villain’s lips were parted, cloth forgotten. Their chest rose and fell, and yet it wasn’t enough. Hero needed to see those eyes. Needed to hear that the Villain was okay.
“It’s all okay now, I’ve stitched the wound. You’ll be okay, I promise.”
Hero kept their hand on Villain's chest. They sat at their side and watched every breath. They would make it. “Please make it,” Hero whispered, gaze trained on Villain. So at peace, they had never seen their nemesis so still. “Please don’t go.”
Hero stayed at Villain’s side the rest of the night, trained on shallow breaths and a slow beating heart. They prayed that in the morning, the Villain would wake.

It’s been so quiet on here that no one has talked about Noah’s Letterboxd reviews post Saturday Night. Here they are (warning- some minor spoilers):
The Substance (5 Stars):
One of the best films I’ve seen in past months. Wow. The jaw-dropped look on my face when the credits hit tells you all you need to know. It was truly flawless from start to finish, with not a single dull moment in its 140-minute runtime. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley deliver outstanding performances, fully embodying their characters. The story is a horrifying but important celebration of self-acceptance, reminding us that we are perfect just the way we are. This is the ultimate anti-Ozempic / plastic surgery film of the year.
It Follows (4 Stars):
So so goood…. And then they just don’t end it. What the heck?! It was so well shot and well acted and then they just didn’t bring it home. Unsatisfied.
We Live In Time (5 Stars): Beautiful tale about making the most of your days you have. I sobbed in the last scene. I loved how they didn’t show her dying but rather a soft transition into the aftermath. Felt like more of a gut punch.
Heathers (5 Stars)
“I love my dead gay son!!”
Anora (5 Stars):
WOWWWW man that was amazing. Everything about it. I loved how real it felt. The scenes were so much longer than normal and I loved that about it. You would sit with these characters in one moment for such a long time and it made it feel so authentic. Nothing felt produced or scripted. It was also SO FUNNY at parts. Mikey Madison was amazing.
I also really appreciated her dynamic with the bald guy. It was such a stark contrast to her relationship with the Russian boy, which was purely physical. With the security guard, it was about connection—they’d just talk or share silence, and it felt real. Their journey from enemies to lovers was so satisfying.
Mermaids (5 Stars):
Cher, Winona Ryder, and Christina ricci? Iconic. Love that Noni’s thing became ending movies with dancing scenes. She eats everytime
Cinderella (4 Stars):
“Be kind, have courage and always believe in a little magic.”
I love him, he's so cute!! Crossing my fingers for the dream scenario of the core 4 boys actors starting up a movie review podcast one day. Literally the biggest dream. Noah is so insightful and honest and I love that he's not afraid to show passion and sincere thoughts on films. I love Letterboxd for the tracking and lists aspect, but so many people on there use the review function just to be quippy and it's so NOAH to be sincere and show his love of exploring film. Even when he doesn't say much it's still pretty fun and honest.
Also him being Winona's number one fan is the sweetest thing 🥹❤️

"I finished the doodle I've been working on. Meet Dr. James Gutfuhlen (some call him Jimmy Feelgoode, for simplicity’s sake). He’s one of the world's most outstanding surgeons and prosthetic experts. Hired by Playtime Co.’s CEO to look into what’s happening in Playcare, Feelgoode quickly caught onto Dr. Harley and disposed of him. After this, the good Doctor adopted the Smiling Critters as his children and used his skills to give them back their childhood, with Nappy (Cat Nap) and Sunny (Dog Day) being the first to receive the surgery. While he couldn’t undo Harely’s drastic changes, Jimmy did what he could to make his new kids happy again."
So if he went through all of that to help those children who went through that horrific experience of being (unknowingly forced) to be changed/transformed into ("living") toys, especially with the inhumane Bigger Bodies experiment that they did on those specific youths in mind then was he also able to somehow hide them away from Play-Care afterward leading up to all of them to be able to find a way to escape and lie low from their notice before or after doing so right when he found out exactly what was going on at that company including in part of doing whatever he could do to undo what was done to those kids (which as far as anyone generally knows were the only ones who were chosen for that unethical operation on them) and at that point afterward he could then save them by whatever means he had available to him through either whatever operation or procedure that he had in mind or was within his current realistic options to him to help those kids look and be less monstrous than what they were made into, even though he couldn't completely change the back into regular human children ever again from that moment onward (!/?).
Oh, Jimmy didn’t escape. The CEO hired him to look into Playcare’s shady operations (News of children not being adopted and going missing reached him.) Jimmy found Harley was doing unauthorized experiments outside of the Poppy project (The CEO, like most others, was too busy to notice what was going on in his factory), tricked him into dismantling the network of researchers and security guards that were his allies, then fed the detestable doctor to his own work: Boxy Boo. Once everything was cleaned up and reported to the CEO, Jimmy took Harley’s position, brought an end to the human experiments, and then proceeded to perform the reconstruction surgery on the Smile Critters.

In your LSoW series would Leo ever want to get a summer job as a Life Guard? Outside of him being a turtle that can already swim well, he seems pretty knowledgeable in medical things. So I'm assuming he would know how to tend to cuts and bruises along with knowing CPR
Oh wow what a good idea! I might steal this lol. I can see it playing out as maybe Leo does it because he genuinely likes it, but it gets a little twisted into a publicity stunt by the press and social media. So he does it for a season and makes all the right statements about loving it, letting people take photos, etc. But. He might lose his taste for it a little and only do it for a season because of the attention. (Leo likes to weaponize attention/publicity, but when it invades genuine personal things it kind of stings.)
(Kind of a long tangent coming up here as well- sorry in advance!)
Fun fact- my Leo is in no way the (sole) medic! I never really bought into that fancanon, as fun as it is to think about. All the turtles have an equal amount of first aid knowledge in LSoW, which is to say a LOT when you are a giant sentient turtle unwilling to get the government involved. I mentioned the turtles medical bracelets a couple of times in 'Raph Joins the Team', and 'Locker'- they all have one. They mostly say things like, DO NOT give any kind of treatment without consultation with: and then a list of names of their doctors, Sal, Yoshi, and a (secret) last person. This is in case (as most medical bracelets are) they're unconscious for whatever reason, or can't speak to medical help. All of their medical records come home with them after appointments, and the way they store it is INCREDIBLY secure. I looked into how legal that would be in the state of New York, but from what I gather given their special situation I'm sure the director of whatever hospital they mainly have their appointments at would get them special consideration etc. This still means samples and stuff get out a little bit, and Bishop has collected SOME information on them medically. But as noted in 'Knight Takes Bishop' it's frustratingly little. (And less now that Donnie has a say lmao.)
Dr. Carter is in this series a lot, but Dr. Heo is doing a lot of work behind the scenes. She's the one that figures out their medication, allergies- everything from the lotion they use, to the vitamins they take, to what kind of anesthetic they used on Raph in '25 cents'. That took a TEAM of anesthesiologists on standby that Raph didn't know about, because he's EIGHT lmao. It was also a trial run, in case they ever DID have to do surgery on the turtles. Dr. Heo wanted to know for a FACT what wouldn't kill them, and Dr. Carter performed the procedure to monitor. Also to lend his expertise, because the dentists were understandably terrified of losing a finger lmao.
(Hm. I wonder what kind of events coming up might call for surgery on a turtle...)

Sacred Bones 15th Anniversary @ The Knockdown Center; May 28, 2022.
Uniform has had an effect on me that’s made all difference. Their live performance as then-unknowns at Output led me to the Sacred Bones label. Lead singer Michael Berdan repped Shame which had me finally visit Rough Trade NYC before their re-location and got me hooked on Totalitar. Not only that, I also sought out each and every band member’s projects (York Factory Complaint, Coca Leaf, Impalers, Liturgy, Anatomy) and discovered other labels in Dais and Wharf Cat. It took me six years before finally seeing the band in full and even bought merch- from Berdan himself. Did I mention they’ve become one of the hardest, most destructive, and pulverizing industrial-metal bands as of recent? All the reasons why they became one of my top ten all-time favorite artists ever.
Meanwhile, New York City label Sacred Bones housed some great artists such as Zola Jesus, Lust For Youth, Blanck Mass, The Holydrug Couple, Spellling, and Marrisa Nadler. They’ve praised the likes of John Carpenter, Mort Garson, and Suicide’s Alan Vega, plus had Boris and Black Marble come aboard. They’re based in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn. With what they’ve done and where they’re situated, how would I not support them?
They celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2017 with two separate shows. I bought tickets to both April and May dates, but I had doubts going as I was in the midst of recovering from life-saving shoulder surgery. Re-injuring it would not be a good look for my trust and my surgeon’s reputation so I ended up eating the cost. Another New York City-based label, Hospital Productions, celebrated their 20th anniversary which I attended, but I held out hope that Sacred Bones would return for their 15th. In short notice, they would. Five years later, I have a chance of finally attending my all-time favorite label’s showcase while keeping my New York City / Brooklyn quotient up. You wouldn’t even understand how fast my heart was beating as I got closer to the event. That’s the case with every trip to New York City because it’s always a big deal to me.
Long Island had a succession of greyscale cloudy days and rain. Saturday would be no different, I feared. Coincidentally, the clouds broke up while I rode the Central Islip line to Woodside. By the time I took the 7 line to catch the Q39 bus, it was a baking, bright and hazy 75*F by the time I got to the Knockdown Center. Security and detail dressed in full black asked everyone if they were here for Sacred Bones or Zero (an alternate techno dance event). After weaving through the guard rail labyrinth, showing ID, and having our tickets scanned, we were welcomed in. I took for granted just attending and supporting the label’s showcase because I knew it was an event. By the end of the night, this experience would be nothing I expected.
I entered the Knockdown Center’s huge lobby and through its conduits, observing several people sitting outside and enjoying the now shining skies like it was a university campus. I arrive at the huge main stage area and it was a dazzler. Once a thriving glass and door factory, this centurian structure is now out-of-commission for its original purposes and became a live venue and art space. It’s been internally repurposed and most of its original structures and aesthetic had faithfully remained intact. The bill would have seven artists across two areas and it would all start in the Texas room.
I walk in and the festivities had already started. Thirty people were here before me; some standing against the wall, some even sitting on the four-foot tall upper level. Everyone was totally silent and attentive as Constant Smiles’ sound welcomed everyone in with arms wide open. I look around and I see punks, metalheads, artist-types, longhairs, goth girls, girls in pigtails, an older silver gentleman wearing all-black matching sportscoat and miniskirt, and many more broad-minded walks of life coming in from Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Ben Jones’ and personnel’s peaceful delivery of gentle long-distance drone, dreampop, and shoegaze painted this picture of total tranquility and serenity. Their sound perfectly juxtaposed with the setting sun’s rays beaming through the windows and into the Texas room. Nobody couldn’t have symbolically started the entire production any better.
All of us migrated to see The Men, the second artist up and the first to take the main stage. If Constant Smiles were the warm-up, then The Men got everything going with a such a slamming free-wheeling set. The line-up of Kevin Faulkner, Mark Perro, Nick Chiericozzi, and Rich Samis delivered a near-endless performance that sounded like it took forever and that’s not a bad thing. I stood about twenty feet away from the main stage and I zoned out letting the music take me to places. At this point, the people were sparse with lots of space to move around on the main floor but they were into it. One song of theirs I instantly recognized from their old line-up was “( )” because I did feature it on Omega WUSB.That was their most powerful one of the night. After their performance, things would take a turn to the unexpected.
Some of us decided to march on to the Ready Room, Knockdown’s former main office-turned bar where they held conferences, panels, and small celebratory events. I had no idea who LD Deutsch was. When I walked in the almost pitch-black space, I seen plenty of people packed in and seated with a projector set-up in front. It looked so surreal. A lecture during a concert night? Where am I? I don’t believe this. This was the stuff my dreams were usually made of: odd situations, things, and re-arrangements that could possibly happen in real-life but never did. Now this was it. Am I now in my own dream? For a good firty-five minutes LD Deutsch presented to us “A Revised Lecture On Time: Reality at the Edge of Itself”. It was a compliment of her latest material “Mythologies Of Time And Timelessness” and her second one published through Sacred Bones’ press. As part of their 15th anniversary, the label chose a great opportunity to showcase their best example of featured authors and filmmakers.
Meanwhile, the next act already got going on the main stage. In the past five years, Sacred Bones really ramped up their signings. I’m more accustomed to their first ten years when almost every artist signed on the label played for their 10th. Anika released Change on the label in 2021 and…I didn’t know what to think when I first witnessed them. Here was Annika Henderson up front on vocals, sounding reserved, quite soft spoken, calm and in control. Her touring personnel behind her put together an amalgam of minimal post-punk, art-rock, and krautrock and it felt up there. Once they played “Sand Witches”, I started finding plenty of elements of their sound that had that specific something and that continued with “Change”. Both had that just-about-right hypnotic spell that drew me in and enough to at least give them another chance in the very near future.
Squrl was another unfamiliar unknown to me and recent signing on that night’s line-up. Anika’s set spilled a little over its end time so I ended up being a little late for the Texas room to see them. It was another attentive, quiet trip on the bill that painted a lively adventurous picture through long expansive guitar drones and a relaxing sound that went the distance. After one of their songs, a fan was dared by her friends to scream out “Jim Jarmusch!” and she did. What a surprise - that is him! Ghost Dog. Coffee And Cigarettes. Fifteen feet away was the closest I ever came in presence of a film director. Anyway - everyone knew it was him with the three of them creating another calm, pleasurable experience. P.S.: no one thought you were funny, you donkey.
I wasn’t too familiar with Spellling’s music but I was still auditioning it for a future use. I was also on the fence about her because she’s not my usual fare. I got to know her better as she performed on the main stage and she won it. Spellling had so much fun onstage and felt super gracious performing for Knockdown’s main crowd who saw her as an amazing performer and being. She was alive. Her presence was animated, playful, free-spirited, and boundless for her type of musical work that was imaginative, magical, and full of fantasy - the total opposite of where I was heading to next.
I wanted to return to the Texas room one final time as early as possible because I did not want to miss the next act, and promised myself to be in the thick of it when it happened. Brooklyn’s scream-core icon Jenna Rose (Anatomy) and Sacred Bones king-of-all-trades Ben Greenberg took to their instruments when were done chilling with their friends. Then their touring drummer (who to this day I still don’t know who he is) came aboard and finally lead singer Michael Berdan showed up wearing Salo / 120 Days Of Sodom to win the T-Shirt Of The Year award. Uniform finally got going and we all were ready for them. Berdan gave thanks and hat-tipped Bones label founder Caleb Braaten for signing them before delivering a few laugh-out-loud wisecracks. Like the last time I saw them at Saint Vitus last year, they kicked off the set with “Life In Regression” and brought the out-of-mind insanity and violence. During the second song, I got splashed hard with a cup of beer. Now it’s going down. About seven or eight guys (including myself) wailed and pushed each other like you would with any nihilist affair. People got knocked down and were promptly pulled up to keep going. Someone lost their glasses and frantically searched for them during the thick of the action. He found them all right: near my boots. That summed up my third time seeing Uniform. If not for them, I wouldn’t have been here. Simple as that.
The label listed six artists and one author appearing “plus more to be announced”. At the last minute, they added Black Marble to end the night. I can thank Chris Stewart’s unforgettable sounds for getting me by during an insurmountably difficult and surreal time. I already seen him open up for Cold Cave at Greenpoint’s Warsaw four years ago, so seeing him again was a nice bonus. Stewart returned to his hometown and his no-wave dressed suspects also took the stage. As a 2020 signee (and I was floored when that was announced), they leaned towards their newer stuff with that familiar cute synthpop and special lo-fi tonality. To me, Black Marble isn’t just a great artist but also a mood; a unique feeling I wouldn’t get from any other outfit. The idea that Stewart originated from New York City, the aesthetic of A Different Arrangement, how “A Great Design” resonates with me, and a sound that leads my heart to where it truly should be (Brooklyn, not Long Island) still makes Black Marble one of personal sentiment. Everyone got into them. The petites, too, as they danced and rocked out to “One Eye Open”. I always wondered what type of significant other would be into them as I never met anyone who were. Now I have my answer.
For five hours, I felt like everything lined up: the label, their fans, the setting, location, and how everything played out. The Sacred Bones fans repp-ing Spacemen 3, Sannhet, Health, and Converge who surrounded me were exactly the type I’d be associated with. Only in the city, because Long Island has nothing going for it. As I observed and took in everything, I couldn’t help having that feeling of someone, anyone such as a Brooklyn contact or a city-minded interest I met during the pandemic summer to come join me because it would’ve turned an already 9.5 to a perfect 10. I held it in knowing that having those contacts would’ve certainly made all the difference. Imagine if I were to meet someone new from the event? But that didn’t happen. My anxiety, fright, and uncertainty held me back.
But that didn’t even leave a permanent scratch. No. What did was the subway lines and bis rides on the way to Queens, the semi-sweet smell of old decaying wood, the high-definition visuals of heavy fog and sweet colored lighting, and another improbable-turned-unforgettable night written in the books. Spring couldn’t have ended on such a high note.
Once again, I faced the dilemma of getting to the subway in time, getting home early enough and not come to work sleepy the next day. I exited the Knockout and walked past all the groups of people converging on how great the event was or some other insignificant bullshit. I had an Uber pick me up and take me to the Woodmere stop heading east where I’d transfer at Jamaica and back home to Central Islip. As with all rail rides to and from the city, there’s always a pair of headphones plugged in my ears and the music playing from my iPhone. There’s always a playlist made to forever remember the day by.

Well, you asked for it ;)
2, 16, 22, 33, 39, 63, 71
I guess I did. I wish I could return some questions, though. ;)
2. How old are you?
I am sweet 30. And since that's a disappointingly short answer, let me reflect a bit. It's so weird, because before I really became active on tumblr again last year, it never would have even occurred to me that someone would question my presence in a fandom because I'm too old?? (Especially because 30 is still quite young as a human being, and culturally even younger than it was some time ago...) Maybe I just wasn't in the right places, but I honestly never saw it happen before, and all of a sudden I was witnessing and getting really unfair hate because... my brain is fully developed, and I've been around the sun more times than a teenager? Well, the way I see it, and this might not be what some KnB fandom teens want to hear, the characters are now the same age as me, or a year older, depending on how you look at it. Yes, they aged with me in my brain, and that's just as valid a take as pretending fictional characters are forever the age they are in canon. And by the way, you don't lose the right to reflect on your past as you get older, or to vibe with characters who are the age you were in that past and going through similar struggles. This should not be a threat to anyone, this should be a comforting thought. I know I'm preaching to the choir, writing this here, but it's almost every day that I see something that makes it relevant to keep saying these things.
16. Favourite movie?
This is always such a hard question. I have several, but since I have to pick one, let's go with The Railway Man this time. It's different to my other favourites because I've only seen it once, and I can't bring myself to watch it again, because the torture scenes are too much for me to handle. But I think about it constantly. It's based on the true story of a man who initially plans to hunt down his torturer from WWII, but is able to forgive him instead, and hear and understand his side of the war experiences, and his guilt. Not only do they accept each other's apologies, the two become life-long friends. This is by far the most cathartic movie I have ever seen in my life. I cried in my room for an hour after watching it. It simultaneously contains the worst and the best humanity is capable of, and that's what makes it so special, and I'm tearing up now just writing this. Especially because it's based on a true story, this movie is such a lighthouse to me, because it's proof that love and forgiveness and healing beyond comprehension do exist, and I'm not a fool to believe in it, no matter the circumstances.
22. Have you ever got in trouble with the law?
No, I don't think so, by any stretch of imagination. The closest would be me keeping my drunk friends from getting in trouble, by preventing them from picking a fight with a security guard.
33. What do you typically have for breakfast?
A smoothie, an avocado toast, and (decaf) coffee (because caffeine gives me panic attacks). Yes, I am such a basic millennial.
39. Do you have any scars?
Yes, many, but most of them are very small. I don't have any interesting stories about them. Ran into something, got hit by something, surgery. Normal things.
63. Biggest Fear?
Losing everyone I love, or a slow and painful death. I don't want to engage my imagination there, but if you imagine the most painful thing that could happen to a human in general, emotionally and physically, for the love of god, don't tell me what it is, but that's probably my worst fear.
71. What makes you nervous?
Being observed closely while I'm doing something for the purpose of evaluation. Having to get something right on the first try. Performing anything physical for the first time. Those job interviews where you have to pretend your interviewers are your students, audience, or clients. Having to advocate for my personal needs, when they are in conflict with the interest of the other person and especially a group. Anything where I have to make sure I'm seen and heard.
Thanks, this was both fun and emotional to reflect on. ♥︎

Clear, Stable Imaging for Healthcare and Security: The Power of OIS USB Cameras
Tumblr media
Imagine you’re in a high-pressure situation—whether you’re performing a delicate medical procedure or monitoring a high-security environment. The last thing you want to deal with is shaky or unclear images that could compromise the task at hand. Have you ever thought about how much a little extra stability and clarity could change the way we handle these crucial moments? That’s where Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) USB cameras come into play.
OIS USB cameras are revolutionizing healthcare and security systems by providing crystal-clear, stable imaging even in the most challenging conditions. Whether you’re recording a fast-moving procedure or capturing a security feed from a remote location, the stability and sharpness of your camera can make all the difference. Let’s dive into how OIS USB cameras are making waves across healthcare and security, offering a solution to some of the most common pain points professionals face today.
The Challenge: Unstable Images in High-Stakes Environments
Both healthcare and security sectors require ultra-reliable, high-quality visual data to make important decisions. But one issue that professionals in these fields often encounter is unstable or blurry images caused by movement.
Healthcare: Precision Is Everything
For healthcare professionals, the ability to capture clear and stable images during medical procedures is crucial. Consider a surgeon performing minimally invasive surgery, or a radiologist reviewing a medical scan. A camera that delivers shaky or unclear images could lead to errors, misdiagnoses, or a longer recovery time for patients. In emergency situations where every second counts, shaky footage can cause delays and confusion.
Furthermore, telemedicine, which has become an increasingly popular way to deliver healthcare services remotely, heavily depends on high-quality video calls. The stability of the camera is paramount to ensure that the healthcare provider can properly diagnose and treat the patient. Without stable video feeds, patients might not receive the care they need, and doctors might miss critical visual cues.
Security: Guarding What Matters Most
In the world of security, the need for stable imagery is just as critical. Surveillance cameras are often positioned in environments that are prone to movement, such as on vehicles or outdoor installations. Strong winds, vibrations, or even slight movements of the camera itself can blur the image, making it harder to identify intruders or spot unusual activity.
In high-security areas like airports, government buildings, or casinos, every visual detail can hold valuable information. Grainy, unstable footage not only compromises safety but also makes it harder for security teams to respond quickly to threats.
The Common Pain Point: Image Instability
Whether you’re working in a hospital or managing a security system, the pain point is clear: unstable images that lack the precision needed to make fast, accurate decisions. Professionals need equipment that provides crystal-clear, stable images, even in challenging environments where vibrations and movement are inevitable.
The Solution: OIS USB Cameras
Here’s where OIS USB cameras come in. These cameras come equipped with optical image stabilization technology, which compensates for unwanted movement. By adjusting the lens and sensor in real-time, OIS technology ensures that images remain sharp and steady, even when the camera itself is in motion. This makes it an invaluable tool for industries where precise imaging is non-negotiable.
OIS Technology: How It Works
Optical image stabilization works by using small motors or actuators to shift the lens or sensor inside the camera. This adjustment happens almost instantaneously, ensuring that the image remains stable as the camera moves. The result is a much smoother, sharper image, even when the camera is subjected to shakes, vibrations, or any other movement.
This technology is particularly useful for USB cameras, which are commonly used in both healthcare and security applications due to their easy integration with existing systems. The combination of OIS and USB connectivity allows for seamless operation without the need for complex hardware setups.
Benefits of OIS USB Cameras in Healthcare
Enhanced Precision for Medical Procedures
In healthcare, particularly in fields like surgery and diagnostics, precision is critical. OIS USB cameras ensure that medical professionals can capture high-definition, stable footage of procedures, making it easier to spot small details that may otherwise be missed. Whether it’s monitoring a surgical site in real-time or capturing high-quality video for educational purposes, OIS technology eliminates the frustration of shaky, unclear images, allowing for more effective and accurate procedures.
Improved Telemedicine Experiences
Telemedicine requires video feeds that are as clear and steady as those seen in in-person consultations. OIS USB cameras help medical professionals offer better services remotely by providing sharp, stable video for consultations. Patients, even in the most remote areas, benefit from a telemedicine setup that ensures they receive the care they need, no matter where they are located.
Streamlined Documentation and Diagnosis
In addition to real-time procedures, OIS USB cameras also contribute to better documentation. Clear, stable images make it easier to document medical procedures, enabling professionals to revisit footage for review or education. For instance, doctors and surgeons can use high-quality, stabilized video to train other professionals or use it as part of patient records to track recovery over time.
Benefits of OIS USB Cameras in Security
Stable Surveillance in High-Traffic Areas
In busy or high-traffic environments, security cameras are often mounted in areas where they experience a lot of movement—whether it’s the camera shaking due to vibrations or the environment itself causing some instability. OIS USB cameras can counteract these movements, providing smooth, stable footage regardless of the external conditions. This is especially crucial for monitoring large crowds or high-risk areas, where every movement matters.
Better Image Quality in Extreme Environments
Security cameras are often placed outdoors, exposed to all kinds of environmental factors such as wind, rain, and temperature changes. These conditions can lead to vibrations and other unwanted movements that interfere with the clarity of the footage. OIS technology stabilizes the images, making it easier to identify faces, objects, and suspicious activities, even when the camera is exposed to rough conditions.
Real-Time Threat Identification
When monitoring a security system, time is of the essence. OIS USB cameras improve response time by ensuring that the security team receives clear, stable footage that helps identify potential threats quickly. Whether it's monitoring the perimeter of a facility or tracking a vehicle's movements, OIS technology ensures that every frame is as sharp and steady as possible.
Real-World Applications: OIS USB Cameras in Action
Medical Field Use Case
A hospital may use OIS USB cameras during a laparoscopic procedure, where the surgeon needs to perform a complex operation through small incisions. The OIS USB camera ensures that the footage remains steady despite any potential hand movements, allowing the surgical team to monitor the procedure in real-time with precision.
Security Field Use Case
In a busy train station or airport, security personnel rely on cameras to monitor large crowds. Using OIS USB cameras ensures that, even if the cameras are mounted on moving vehicles or placed in areas prone to wind, the footage remains stable and useful for quick identification of suspicious activity or individuals.
Stability Meets Versatility: The Future of OIS USB Cameras
As both healthcare and security industries continue to evolve, the demand for stable, high-quality imaging will only grow. OIS USB cameras offer a solution to a critical challenge, ensuring that professionals can rely on sharp, clear images to make informed decisions. Whether it's performing a complex medical procedure or securing a high-traffic area, OIS USB cameras provide the clarity and stability necessary for success.
Final Thoughts: A Game-Changer for Precision and Clarity
OIS USB cameras are a game-changer in industries that depend on precise, stable imaging. From the operating room to the security booth, these cameras empower professionals with the clarity they need to perform their tasks effectively. With OIS USB technology, healthcare and security teams no longer have to worry about unstable footage or missed details. It’s a step forward in both sectors, enhancing safety, accuracy, and ultimately, the well-being of individuals and communities.

Uzeonce Eye Shield: The difference is crystal clear
PREMIUM ULTRA CLEAR EYE SHIELD
Tumblr media
UZEONCE eye shields are not ordinary plastic eye patches. They are an emphatic statement of quality that endorse the high quality of surgery performed, while enhancing patient experience.
Why is the plastic eye shield so important, you may ask? After all it is only a plastic cover for the patient eye.
Well, think of them as patient companions, who play a critical role in safeguarding the patient's eye during the vulnerable recovery period. While ensuring the safety and healing of the eye post-surgery is paramount, it doesn’t hurt if the eye patch also looks friendly & smart. 😊
Importance of Patient Compliance
For the plastic eye shield to be effective, patient compliance is essential. Educating patients about the importance of wearing the plastic eye guard as directed, especially during sleep, can significantly reduce the risk of post-operative complications.
The comfortable design, smart looks and transparent vision of the Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear make it more likely that patients will adhere to the recommended use, leading to better surgical outcomes.
Features of Uzeonce - Eye Shield Clear
The Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear is specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of post-surgical eye care. Here are some key features:
Transparency
The crystal-clear design of this plastic eye shield allows for continuous monitoring of the eye without needing to remove the shield, which is beneficial for both patients and healthcare providers. This feature is particularly useful in detecting early signs of complications such as infection or inflammation.
Ventilation
The eye shield has strategically placed fenestrations (holes), that ensures adequate airflow, reducing the risk of moisture buildup and infection. The ventilation also contributes to patient comfort, making it easier to wear the shield for extended periods.
Durability and Protection
Made from high-quality plastic, the Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear provides robust protection against external force. The high impact proof plastic eye protector is designed to withstand accidental shocks, offering a reliable protection against potential harm.
Comfort and Fit
The ergonomic design of the plastic eye guard, designed to have smooth & well-rounded contours, ensures that it fits securely and comfortably over every adult eye. The lightweight nature of the shield minimizes discomfort, encouraging compliance among patients who need to wear it continuously.
Easy disinfection
The high-quality plastic eye patch is very easy to clean and disinfect. The ultra clear surface makes it easy to spot any adhesions or dust particles, so that cleaning them is a breeze. The high-performance plastic also lends itself very well to repeated disinfection in boiling water.
Smart appearance
The Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear look exceptionally good, especially when compared with their grotesquely shaped & gaudily coloured competitors. The ultra clear appearance of the shields makes them largely invisible from a distance. This adds to their appeal to the users and increases patient compliance.
Certified, Assured Quality
Uzeonce Eye Shield Clear are certified for CE Marking as per the stringent EU MDR 2017/745 requirements. The manufacturing unit is ISO 13485:2016 certified.

top surgery with reformkliniken
hi! I got top surgery with Reformkliniken in Malmo about 6 months ago, when I was planning the surgery I could find barely anything about specifically transmascs getting top surgery there, so I have written out a comprehensive review of my experience, hope this helps :3
making an appointment
the email replies are terrible, I would be waiting 3-4 days for a response, sometimes getting no response all. poor communication in general. After a few emails and calling them a couple times, I was able to secure a date! Had to pay the full surgery fee a month before. The surgery alone was 42,000 krona which is roughly 3,600 euro — Dr Tuve did say the price was raising, but because that was the price I was quoted I was able to pay the original price.
traveling to malmo
If you're from Sweden ignore this, but I made the miserable journey from Dublin to Goteborg to Malmo which is like 7 hours all together and unnecessary. If you're flying in you’re better off flying to Copenhagen and getting the train to Malmo, cheaper and faster.
consultation
The clinic was easy to find! Like a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Interior was very fancy and clean which was comforting, got checked in with Victoria the receptionist who I had spoken to on the phone, she's very sweet ^^
My appointment was for 3:30 and I ended up getting called in at nearly 4 which isn't shocking for a drs appointment but make sure to block out your day for the consultation.
Dr Tuve himself was not exactly the most comforting person to meet for the first time about such a big surgery. When it was time for him to actually look at my chest to talk about what I wanted done with the surgery, he stood over me while I got undressed rather than giving me a bit of privacy, lifted and touched my breasts without asking at all. I know this is all to be expected because in less than a week he will be performing surgery on me, but a bit of forewarning because it definitely caught me off guard.
Non swedes !! I don't know if they normally have a translated pamphlet but the pamphlet I was given was in Swedish and also very clearly just given to everyone getting surgery, not specifically for a mastectomy. I was given a very basic English mastectomy paper after surgery about what meds I’d be on, don’t lift your arms, etc. But I would’ve preferred to have more explained to me before the surgery. (Not a huge deal, there is lots of info about recovery online, still weird)
night before operation
had to take a thorough 10 minute shower according to the pamphlet where I let the soap soak my chest and shaved any hair around the area, also had to take an antibiotic with a meal in the evening, to not eat after midnight.
surgery!!
My appointment was at 7am! I came in, answered some questions (height/weight/allergies/etc) with the really sweet secretary in the waiting room. Then I got taken to my room which I shared with another trans patient, which was comforting. I had to take a shower with antibacterial soap and change into a robe and slippers.
After my shower I was given pain killers, anti-inflammatories and anti histamine (I think??) with a glass of lemonade to take. Dr Tuve then took me to his office to get the surgery markings drawn on me and get before pictures taken of me (ngl I hated this so I’m sure you’re able to ask not to, but I was caught off guard and went with it which is my fault, not blaming him)
After I got my markings I waited in the room while my roommate got their surgery, just napped atp. Then my nurse Feannette came and gave me an injection and hooked me up to the IV. She had some trouble with it so it was a bit sore but nothing crazy — she was also very sweet and went on about how lovely it was that i was taking this big step for myself n all which was very cute.
Then Frederick the anesthetist came and asked me some questions and explained how the anesthesia and everything would work. After that, I was brought in to the operating room, and the nurses talked me through everything and slowly started preparing me for surgery while I went under (my biggest fear was waking up during surgery or them starting before I was under but I was completely conked out) I woke up two hours later with very minimal pain and was back in my room.
My biggest complaint is I was previously told through email that I would be able to stay overnight at the hospital if I wanted, which I would've preferred because they had a proper bed for sleeping upright, as well as having nurses available if I had any problems. It was also written in the leaflet they gave me. When me and the other person getting top surgery asked to stay overnight though we were refused and left exactly 4 hours after after our surgery. I had a friend collect me from the hospital and looking after me, but this part is still wild 2 me.
recovery!
I was prescribed oxynorm and paracetamol (pain + antibiotics) for my recovery, I got a bunch of different pain meds!
Dr Tuve doesn’t use drains for his surgeries, this was something we disagreed on but I ultimately trusted him with because he’s the expert. I did end up with a huge seroma that messed up my nipple on that side for a while (she’s good now, but the other side healed way faster than the seroma side) This isn’t to scare anyone but just to give full disclosure, in the end I’m glad I didn’t get drains because it would’ve been a huge headache to travel with, I didnt have to get them removed and basically could get on with my life when I got home, but I think it’s a very important note. I wish he fully explained to me the possibility of a seroma and what not using the drains would entail. He did tell me that not using drains is cleaner, which makes sense. But the lack of explanation still bothers me.
Also, in the pamphlet they gave me, they didn’t really explain taking care of the area after surgery, such as massaging the scars later on in recovery to avoid tissue build up etc. They also didn’t leave instructions for my local GP who ended up taking out the stitches in my nipples. (I don’t really fault them for this though because I’m sure most patients would get everything done at the same clinic they got the surgery at)
I am currently 6 months post op and I’m very happy with my chest! The placement of everything is perfect, I got a double incision and a nipple graft and everything seems very symetrical to me and I’m a lot more confident in my body now. I was very very worried about my chest looking dopey since I’m chubby and didn’t want my chest to look concave compared to my belly (which I explained to Dr Tuve) and I’m super happy with the results!
Overall, I’m really happy with my experience, I think their communication could be a LOT better, which is one of the main things to make someone feel safe when they’re getting surgery, however I do believe they’re all experts in the end, even if the communication isn’t great. The main reason I chose them was because it was in Europe and budget friendly! Hope this helps someone or at least give an idea of what to expect when getting top surgery :D
