and the other thing. kyu’s lie about their jobs was epic tier trolling because there’s no way he doesn’t see the possibility of one of the teachers or parents hearing this and then wanting to see kazuki perform (even if he’s bad). kazuki would be obligated to keep his cover, and kyu would be oh-so-helpful in maintaining the ruse, I bet, just to see kazuki squirm and then actually bomb on stage. meanwhile, the oil baron lie is a solid-yet funny explanation (from an outsider’s perspective) for their mysterious high income. honestly, the only one who would be in a position to see the holes in these stories is our gullible little four-year-old, miri, who heard kyu state that he wanted the pair to focus on HIS jobs (meaning he employs them in some capacity), and who also knows that her family was in a tough financial situation (probably wouldn’t happen with an actual oil baron), because they “weren’t working.”
