A friend of mine made a custom hat for Lutz, out of an old felt bowler. The leather strip is an old belt that they attached to give it some more height:
It's essentially a tiny cylinder now. The details in the leather are burned, not tooled. Which is only exciting to me because I exclusively know how to tool leather.
It's not exactly as pirate-y as I'd expected, but since this crew has a thing for wearing ridiculous cylinders, this is just as fitting.
I'll dull out the blue seam with some leftover fabric dye, and then comes the fun part: while players who portray aristocratic, upper class characters usually have very fancy but plain hats, the lowbrow street rat style characters usually have shitty, scrappy but intricately decorated hats. In short, you just stick every trinket you can find to your hat and call it a day. Like these guys:
You just sew everything you want to your hat. Coins, playing cards, your own "wanted:" posters like these guys up there, buttons, whatever. I've just been sewing that stuff onto my woolen coat so far
#one aspect i love about this hobby:#everyone just makes things for each other#i made this guy a custom patch. and carved a leather seahorse for him. and he just full on made me a hat#larp#lutz

I've published this photo once, but nów I got IT in better quality, so here you have it again. From the left: Titus, Scott, Kathleen, Teddy. And of course the ponies, right, left and center. Admire the glorious outfit Titus wears and when you are satiated with it's sartorial splendour, imagine yourself a day on the races, Anno Domini 1910. Ladies in sophisticated dresses and elegant hats. Gentlemen in morning coats, silk ties and top hats. Overall atmosphere of elegance, the sun sparks in the shiny shoes of the gentlemen and jewellery worn by the ladies. And then there shuffles in HIM, with his usual gait of a man on skis, but without them, slightly hunched in his worn out Norfolk coat with pockets full of needful things. The weathered tweed bowler sits on the back of his head, the pants certainly saw their better days and the hobnail boots, with seams full of the coal dust, raise the dust with each shuffling step. Here comes the one and only captain Lawrence Oates, absolutely unique gem of a man.

Kemar Roach, Motie all-round show helps WI claw back
Gudakesh Motie took a few wickets after reaching his first Test fifty and helped lower Pakistan to 51/4 in the post-lunch session before the hosts rallied to reach 70/4. With the new ball, Kemar Roach was just as effective, trouncing Pakistan's top order with two cheap wickets.
A small top-order collapse was brought on the West Indies new-ball bowlers. In his third over, Roach hit Muhammad Hurraira below the knee roll in front of the stumps, causing the ball to nip in and beat the inner edge of his bat. To no avail, the opener evaluated. In the next over, Motie, who had started the West Indies attack, joined in and dismissed Babaz Azam for a single.
By getting the bigger ball to seam in and take an inside edge off Shan Masood's bat before smashing into the stumps, Roach also removed the second opener. Masood produced 15.
Kamran Ghulam and Saud Shakeel had a brief partnership of 26 after falling to 25/3 in eight overs, but Motie ended that as well before the session break. In an attempt to defend, Ghulam ended up making a foolish mid-off catch that was well-judged by Alick Athanaze.
With tea looming, Shakeel (14*) and Mohammad Rizwan (13*) made sure there were no more interruptions. Pakistan was still 93 runs behind the West Indies' first innings total of 163, which was the result of a combination of the tailenders' flamboyance and resistance. Brief scores: Gudakesh Motie (2–45) and Kemar Roach (2–15) lead Pakistan 70/4 by 93 runs, while West Indies 163 leads.

[ad_1] PC – Jio Cinema Bengaluru Mumbai – 120 all out. Jammu and Kashmir reduced to 174 for 7 at stumps in the same Ranji Trophy game. Vidarbha ended up with just 165 while Rajasthan could muster 101 for 5 at stumps. Madhya Pradesh were snuffed out for 160 against Kerala. Meanwhile, Haryana were cleaned up for just 157 by Bengal. Last, but not least, Punjab finished up with their lowest-ever Ranji Trophy total (55) while facing Karnataka. With most of those low scores, there was one connecting point – grassy decks that tend to stay low. Now, the main argument in favour of such tracks would be that it acts as the foundation stone for the young batters to prepare for future challenges outside of Asia. Unfortunately, most of these pitches stay on the lower side, so the conditions aren’t exactly replicated. For instance, on Day 1 itself, the Mumbai-Jammu and Kashmir game witnessed 8 of the batters losing their wickets via the LBW or bowled modes of dismissal. One more example would be the Bihar-Bengal game held last season where out of Mukesh Kumar’s 10 wickets, six of them came via lbw or bowled. The batters also wouldn’t get the opportunity to build their muscle memory of playing on turning decks. Sometimes, it is difficult to blame a batter like Sarfaraz Khan when he gets out in a curious fashion to Mitchell Santner, in Pune, as a sizeable portion of the decks in India’s premier first-class competition favour seam bowling. Such conditions also bring into play military medium pacers who bowl at around 120 kph. All that a pacer needs to do in such climes is to zoom the ball on the stumps and wait for the pitch to do the rest. It could also result in very little old-ball swing and the spinners wouldn’t have much of a role. It shouldn’t come as a major surprise that since the emergence of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah, India have kind of struggled to produce pace bowlers who have fine-tuned the art of using the crease and generating old-ball swing. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh had once said this about tracks in the Ranji Trophy. “We shouldn’t leave so much grass where even a 120-kph bowler appears like Malcolm Marshall,” he was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. “It is okay if someone bowling 120 looks like 125 but he shouldn’t appear unplayable. Our wickets make such bowlers look unplayable.” Ironically, the track that had only a smattering of grass in the latest round of Ranji Trophy – Chinnaswamy – saw Punjab being shot out for just 55, which also turned out to be their lowest score in the tournament’s history. So, what went wrong there? A substantial portion of the batters were tentative as they kept edging deliveries to the slip cordon. It is true that the deck offered just enough nip in the first hour. And a little more bounce than expected. The Karnataka pace trio of V Koushik, Abhilash Shetty and Prasidh Krishna also hardly gave anything away. Prasidh consistently extracting a fair amount of bounce from a slightly fuller length might have also gladdened the hearts of the Indian backroom staff. But Karnataka’s pace battery was also helped by some poor batting. Shubman Gill, the star attraction, was one of them: His airy-fairy poke resulted in his dismissal for just four runs. Karnataka put Punjab’s insipid effort into perspective by notching up 199 for the loss of only four wickets at stumps. From the above-mentioned lines, it could be asserted that not all of those low totals were due to the conditions. But the Karnataka-Punjab game seems more like an exception to the rule. The larger picture remains the same – A plethora of decks in the Ranji Trophy comprise a good covering of grass and tend to stay on the lower side. Is it helping in grooming the youngsters coming through the junior ranks? Perhaps not. Teams With The Lowest Scores In ODI History
One-day international cricket matches are an intriguing spectacle. It combines the strength and endurance of Test cricket with the excitement and intensity of a Twenty20 encounter. It is understandable why the game's elite refer to it as the highest form. But in addition to a number of ups and downs, it has had both the highest and lowest ODI scores. Aside from the over-limit being reduced from 60 overs in the 1970s and 1980s to the current 50-over format, ODI cricket has changed somewhat over the years, as shown by the many occasions when the match featured some of the lowest team scores in ODI. Without question, it has accelerated and become more of a batsman's game. Runs are abundant in One Day Cricket, and the day when a team scores more than 500 runs is not far off. Despite all the rule changes that frequently benefit the batsman, bowlers have also frequently demonstrated their worth by dismissing other teams for pathetic scores. Here, we look at some of the lowest ODI scores ever.
Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka, Harare 2004 (Zimbabwe – 35 runs)
Zimbabwe's lowest point in ODI cricket occurred during their April 2004 trip to Sri Lanka. In the third ODI at Harare, Zimbabwe collapsed for a record-low total of 35 runs, which is still the lowest score in ODI history and is a dubious distinction. This match was one of five in the series, and Sri Lanka was already leading 2-0. No Zimbabwean batsman reached double figures as the Sri Lankan bowlers, led by Chaminda Vaas and Farveez Maharoof, tore through the lineup with their ferocious bursts of fast and swing bowling. As seen by their batting collapse, which lasted only 18 overs, Zimbabwe struggled against strong seam bowling. The visitors quickly pursued the target, reaching 40/1 in 9.2 overs with 244 balls left. This match brought to light the differences between the two teams and Zimbabwe's cricket situation. This match against top bowling teams is a stark reminder of Zimbabwe's batting shortcomings.
USA vs Nepal, Kirtipur 2020 (USA- 35 runs)
The USA cricket team equaled the record for the lowest score in One-Day International cricket against the hosts, Nepal, on February 12, 2020, at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. When the USA had to bat first in subcontinental conditions, they suffered a lot. Unable to manufacture any resistance, the USA batters were dismissed for just 35 runs in 12 overs. No one else on the squad hit double figures, and three batters were out for ducks. The lone player who led the USA in scoring and made a significant contribution to the team total was opener Xavier Marshall, who scored 16 runs. For Nepal, spinners Sandeep Lamichhane and Sushan Bhari took six and four wickets, respectively. Nepal won the match by taking eight wickets in six overs. After knocking them out for 35, the hosts had to chase the meager cricket score in just 5.2 overs and with eight wickets left.
Canada vs Sri Lanka, Paarl 2003 (Canada – 36 runs)
Winning the toss, Sanath Jayasuriya asked Canada to bat first and they were bowled out for 36 runs, hence, the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup group stage match between Canada and Sri Lanka was cut short. Dilhara Fernando took two wickets, pacer Chaminda Vaas took three, and Prabath Nissanka took four. Not a single Canadian batter reached double figures. Desmond Chumney, the opener, and captain Joe Harris both scored nine runs to lead the scoring. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, surged to the mark and won the match with around 35 overs left after Marvan Atapattu scored a fast 24 runs.

Australia gain the early advantage in Sydney in the World Test Championship deciding fifth Test against India.India dropped skipper Rohit Sharma but their batting woes continued as they were dismissed for 185 on the opening day of the crucial fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney. Scott Boland led the way with four for 31 on Friday as Australia’s bowlers revelled in seam-friendly conditions to restrict India’s scoring and knock over wickets with a regularity that delighted a sellout crowd of 48,000. Only the suspicion of what Jasprit Bumrah, the outstanding bowler of the series and Rohit’s replacement as captain, might do on the surface constrained the joy of home fans packed into the famous old ground. They got a hint from the last ball of the three overs India managed to bowl before the close of play when Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja for two. Teenager Sam Konstas, who had a brief altercation with Bumrah just before Khawaja’s departure, will resume on seven not out with Australia nine for one. Jasprit Bumrah of India interacts with Australia’s Sam Konstas towards the end of the first day [Cameron Spencer/Getty Images] Australia lead the series 2-1 and will not only seal the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but also a place in the World Test Championship final against South Africa with a victory in the finale. “I thought all the bowlers were really good. To bowl them out for under 200 was an excellent day,” said Australia’s debutant all-rounder Beau Webster, who conceded it may not be the highest-scoring surface. “I’m not really sure what a good score is just yet, until both teams bat on it,” he added. Boland precipitated the end of India’s laboured innings early in the final session when he had Rishabh Pant caught at mid-on for 40 and dismissed Melbourne centurion Nitish Kumar Reddy off consecutive balls. Washington Sundar was beaten by Boland’s hat-trick ball without making contact with it but Ravindra Jadeja was soon trapped plumb in front by Mitchell Starc (3-49) for 26 to leave India reeling on 134-7. Sundar was unfortunate to depart for 14 when a TV review detected a brush of his glove on a Pat Cummins delivery, while Bumrah wagged the tail with 22 runs from 17 balls before the Australia skipper had him caught at mid-wicket to end the innings. Pant said he would have been happier with 40 or 50 more runs but felt that India’s score was not that far from par on a tricky wicket. “It’s still a very competitive score, because of the way ball is moving now,” he told reporters. “There’s lot of help for the bowler, and hopefully we can capitalise on that.” Scott Boland of Australia, left, and India’s Jasprit Bumrah could be decisive figures in the final Test on a seam-friendly surface [Cameron Spencer/Getty Images] India could still retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a victory but looked on the back foot from the moment Bumrah won the toss and sent his team into bat. Cummins said he would have done the same but the paceman was still licking his lips at the greenish tinge on the wicket – and the leaden skies above Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The tourists had 11 runs on the board when Rahul departed for four and only six more when Jaiswal, on 10, was caught in the slips off Boland. Boland thought he had Virat Kohli out for a golden duck off the next delivery but the roars of the crowd turned to jeers when it was ruled the ball had kissed the grass as Steve Smith flicked it up for Marnus Labuschagne to catch. Cummins tossed the ball to Nathan Lyon for the last over before Lunch and the spinner removed Shubman Gill, Rohit’s batting replacement, for 20 with an edge into the busy slip cordon. Kohli had scored 17 runs from 69 balls when he became Boland’s second victim with a stab at a delivery outside off which Webster collected with a fine diving catch in the slips. Bumrah said at the toss that Rohit’s absence from the team was the 37-year-old’s own choice. “Our captain has shown leadership by opting to rest in this game,” he explained. How to Create the Best Team For IPL 2025 In Fantasy Cricket?
Fantasy cricket is an exciting way to engage with the IPL season, combining your knowledge of the game with strategic decision-making. With IPL 2025 on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to start planning your fantasy cricket team. Building the best fantasy cricket team for IPL 2025 involves a mix of thorough research, creative budgeting, and staying updated on the latest news.
This guide will walk you through step-by-step strategies, covering everything from understanding the points system to last-minute team tweaks, helping you build a winning IPL fantasy team.
Understanding the Points System
Before you start creating your fantasy team, it’s vital to familiarize yourself with the points system of the platform you’re using. Each platform has its unique rules, and knowing them inside out can give you a competitive edge.
Key Points to Note:
Batting Points: Runs, strike rates, and milestones (e.g., half-centuries or centuries) earn points. However, poor strike rates may incur penalties.
Bowling Points: Wickets, economy rates, and four or five-wicket hauls are highly rewarding.
Fielding Points: Catches, run-outs, and stumpings can add bonus points.
Captain and Vice-Captain Multipliers: Your captain earns double the points, and the vice-captain earns 1.5x points.
Example: If your captain scores 50 runs and takes 2 wickets, the additional multiplier can significantly boost your team’s overall score.
Analyzing Player Performance and Form
The performance and form of players are among the most important aspects of team selection. While star players are obvious choices, recent form often outweighs past glory.
Steps to Analyze Performance:
Study Recent Matches: Evaluate how players have performed in the lead-up to IPL 2025, including domestic leagues and international games.
Consistency Matters: Look for players who consistently deliver, even under pressure.
Player Matchups: Some players perform better against specific teams. For example, a batter with a history of success against a particular bowling lineup might be a wise choice.
Example: A player like Rashid Khan, known for his consistency in the T20 format, is a reliable pick for wickets and economy points.
Balancing Star Players with Budget Picks
Your fantasy cricket budget requires careful planning. It’s tempting to pick an all-star lineup, but that’s rarely feasible due to salary cap restrictions.
Tips for Balancing:
Invest in Core Players: Allocate a significant portion of your budget to 2–3 marquee players who are expected to be consistent performers.
Find Hidden Gems: Identify uncapped players or those who are in form but undervalued. These budget picks can offer excellent returns on investment.
Monitor Squad Depth: Teams with strong benches may rotate players, so focus on those likely to play most matches.
Example: Emerging talents like Tilak Varma in previous seasons have been game-changers for fantasy players.
Monitoring Pitch and Weather Conditions
Understanding the pitch and weather conditions is crucial when building a team. A player’s performance can be significantly influenced by external factors.
How to Evaluate Conditions:
Research Venues: Check historical data for each stadium—some favor batsmen, while others assist bowlers.
Consider Weather Forecasts: Rain can reduce overs and favor bowlers with tight economies or all-rounders.
Adapt to Playing Surfaces: For example, spinners thrive on dry pitches like Chennai, while pacers excel on seaming tracks like Mohali.
Pro Tip: Adjust your team composition based on these factors to gain an edge.
Utilizing Captain and Vice-Captain Selection Wisely
The captain and vice-captain are your team’s most crucial picks, as their performance multiplies your points.
Best Practices for Selection:
Focus on All-Rounders: Players like Hardik Pandya or Glenn Maxwell contribute with both bat and ball, doubling their chances of earning points.
Match-Based Decisions: Choose captains who excel against specific teams or on certain pitches.
Avoid High Risks: Don’t gamble on players with inconsistent performances for these roles.
Example: If a player like Virat Kohli is in top form, making him your captain can result in massive rewards.
Last-Minute Updates: Keeping an Eye on Playing XI
Even the best-laid plans can go awry if a player doesn’t make it to the playing XI. Ensure your team is up-to-date before the match starts.
How to Stay Updated:
Follow Official Announcements: Teams usually confirm their playing XI 30 minutes before the match.
Use Reliable Sources: Check verified Twitter accounts, team websites, or fantasy platform updates.
Swap Out Benched Players: Make quick adjustments to replace inactive players with active ones.
Pro Tip: Platforms often allow changes until the toss, giving you time to make last-minute corrections.
Additional Fantasy Cricket Strategies for IPL 2025
Here are more tips to help you dominate fantasy leagues this IPL season:
Track Player Injuries: Avoid selecting players recovering from injuries or those prone to frequent fitness issues.
Diversify Your Team: Pick players from different teams to spread the risk.
Build Multiple Teams: Experiment with different combinations to maximize your chances of success.
Follow IPL Auctions: Note which players were picked at high prices—they’re likely to feature prominently in their teams.
Example: Players bought for high sums in the auction often carry the team’s expectations and are given key roles.
How Gali Disawar Mix Enthusiasts Can Relate
Fantasy cricket and games like Gali Disawar Mix share common traits: both require strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and informed decision-making. Just as analyzing trends helps in fantasy cricket, it’s equally valuable in Gali Disawar Mix. Enthusiasts can apply these skills to enhance their performance in gaming platforms that demand a mix of luck and logic.
Conclusion: Start Building Your Winning IPL Fantasy Team
Crafting the best fantasy cricket team for IPL 2025 involves careful research, real-time adaptability, and a deep understanding of the game. Whether you’re a cricket fanatic or someone looking to sharpen your gaming skills, these strategies can help you dominate your fantasy league.
So why wait? Start analyzing, strategizing, and building your dream team today. Whether it’s your fantasy league or Gali Disawar Mix, remember: the key to success lies in smart decisions and calculated risks. Assemble your winning team now and make IPL 2025 a season to remember!

Teen prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi's struggles against seam bowling was apparent during his brief stay as India U-19 comprising IPL contract owners struggled badly during their 43-run defeat to Pakistan in the Youth Asia Cup in Dubai on Saturday. After muscular left-hander Shahzaib Khan thrashed Indian bowlers to submission with 10 sixes in his 159 off 147 balls, Indians were never in sight of victory target of 282. They eventually got out for 238 in 47.1 overs but rising youngsters like Suryavanshi (1), Ayush Mhatre (20), C Andre Siddarth (15) and left-arm spinner Hardik Raj (0/47 in 6 overs) won't be amused with their performance. However it must be mentioned that Mhatre with his touch and range looked a cut above the rest in the Indian team as he got out for 20 which had five boundaries. The bulky left-hander Suryavanshi, who has had a very poor Ranji season, just got a solitary run as tall medium pacers Ali Raza and Abdul Subhan troubled him a lot.Lot is expected of the Rajasthan Royals' Rs 1.10-crore signing but at 13 year and 8 months, he needs a lot of work to be even consistent at U-19 international level.Subhan squared up Mhatre with a delivery that rose from length and moved a shade to take his outside edge, while Suryavanshi' feet didn't move when Raza slipped an angular fuller ball that he edged to the keeper. The biggest disappointment turned out to be skipper Mohammed Amman, who dragged his way to 16 of 43 balls and his innings was one of the reasons that India U-19 couldn't really get the momentum once Mhatre was gone.Nikhil Kumar's 67 was the only saving grace. In the bowling department, India depended on their two spinners -- leg-spinner Mohammed Ennan (0/34 in 2 overs) and Raj, and both were taken to task by Shahzaib.Especially Ennan, who either bowled half-trackers or over-pitched deliveries, all of which were dispatched into the stands. In fact, Mhatre (2/30 in 7 overs) had to be brought in to cover for him and promptly got a couple of wickets, but Shahzaib had done enough damage and 280-plus was a winning total at the U-19 level.(Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed.) IPL Auction 2025: 7 Players Mumbai Indians Can Buy with Their Remaining Budget
The IPL Auction 2025 is around the corner. And as in each season, big moves with Mumbai Indians can be expected to strengthen their team. Well, with a good core of retained Indian players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, and Tilak Varma, Mumbai Indians will have an excellent national backbone, which forms the core strength. Though their primary emphasis will be on quality foreign players, particularly fast bowlers, as Wankhede Stadium is an outright fast-tracking surface. Here are 7 players MI could target to strengthen their squad within their available budget:
Josh Hazlewood (Australia) - Fast Bowler Josh Hazlewood’s precise line and length make him a potent threat in any condition. MI’s interest in him would be particularly strong given the flat pitches at Wankhede Stadium, which can benefit fast bowlers who can generate swing. Hazlewood’s ability to bowl under pressure in the death overs and his experience in T20 leagues around the world make him an ideal candidate for MI's bowling attack.
Dawid Malan, England Top-order batsman Dawid Malan, the top-order batsman of England, would be one excellent pick for MI. Consistency is one of his key strengths, and with Malan, an innings is anchored to a better extent. Malan comes across as versatile, considering he can play against both pace and spin. He has enormous experience in T20 cricket in leagues like Big Bash League and The Hundred, so that automatically adds value to the batting line-up for MI.
Lockie Ferguson (New Zealand) – Fast Bowler In the past, MI has often backed strong pace bowlers, and Lockie Ferguson is no exception. He's been renowned for his raw pace and can be a massive destroyer of batsmen in the death overs. His express speed coupled with his ability to bowl yorkers even when in pressure situations makes him an expensive asset in T20 cricket. Against Wankhede, where swift bowling can cause serious problems for batsmen, Ferguson might find solace along with Bumrah and Pandya.
Adam Zampa - Leg Spinner 4. Australia Adam Zampa, of course, is a proven wicket-taker, one who is a specialist in the middle overs. With Wankhede sometimes allowing spinners to gain a seam that helps them win the game, Mumbai might just need Zampa to provide the right arm of control and variation. Experience in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore and his attendant performances in other T20 leagues make him a high-profile target for MI looking to strengthen their spin arsenal.
Shimron Hetmyer (West Indies) – Middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer is an aggressive middleorder bat, but a hitter nevertheless. He has the ability to fire in the latter half of the innings, which is a great asset for MI to have as a finisher. With the aim of a power-hitting depth in the squad, Hetmyer's experience in T20 cricket and the time he has spent in IPL would add to his value for the team. His aggressive stroke play could complement MI's strong top-order batsmen such as Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma.
Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand) - All-rounder Kyle Jamieson is well balanced between his pace and batting depth. He can bowl consistently at a speed of 140 km/h plus and chip in with the bat towards the end, making him a valuable asset to MI across both departments. He will complement Hardik Pandya as an all-rounder and provide some extra heft with their bowling attack on flat Wankhede pitches.
Rilee Rossouw (South Africa) – Top-order Batsman The game may turn out to be a game-changer for MI if Rilee Rossouw manages to form partnerships at the top of the order with aggressive strokes. With his experience playing T20 leagues around the world, Rossouw has a reputation for coming under pressure and accelerating games as needed. Rossouw might be the injection MI will need to give depth in the middle overs and allow players like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma to come out and play freely at the top.
Conclusion With IPL Auction 2025 around the corner, Mumbai Indians will do some shrewd maneuvering to add strength to their squad, especially in the foreign player department. Fast bowlers are going to be some of the major targets for MI, especially going by the nature of Wankhede Stadium's pitch. Josh Hazlewood, Lockie Ferguson, and Adam Zampa will bring fire in their bowling attack while Dawid Malan, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rilee Rossouw will provide the batting lineup depth and versatility. If MI can get these players within the remaining budget, they will have a strong, well-balanced squad to challenge for the title in IPL 2025.
Keep watching CMITimes for more updates on the IPL Auction 2025 and Mumbai Indians' strategies!

The Different Types of Cricket Balls
There is a widespread belief that the type of ball used has a significant effect on the game. This seems to make no sense in terms of physics.
The ball starts life as a large sheet of leather, dyed either red or white. It is then cut into four pieces and stitched together covering a string-spun chunk of cork.
Durability
The cricket ball is a crucial component of the game, providing batsmen and bowlers with unique challenges. From the distinct swing and seam movement of a red leather Heavy cricket balls in Test matches to the visibility and behaviour of white and pink cricket balls in limited-overs and day-night tests, understanding the differences between the different types of cricket balls helps players adapt their skills and tactics accordingly.
Durability is essential for a cricket ball, as it needs to be able to withstand highspeed play. It also requires good stitching, as it must be able to withstand wear and tear without compromising its structural integrity.
The TENNEX cricket tennis balls are designed for durability, ensuring they can stand up to the rigours of the game. The heavy design provides a more challenging training experience for players, helping them develop their strength and improve their batting and bowling skills. These balls are also ideal for casual play and practice sessions, as they can withstand a variety of weather conditions.
Weight
The weight of the cricket ball is important because it affects the amount of momentum imparted on the bat. Batsmen often choose a bat that feels light or heavy to them, depending on their strength. This is because a bat with the right amount of weight will allow them to maximize their swing speed.
The spherical cricket ball is made from leather that has been dyed the iconic red or modern white. It has a cork core, which is layered with tightly wound string and covered by a leather case with a slightly raised seam. The top-quality balls used for the highest level of competition have a covering constructed from four pieces of leather shaped like the peel of a quartered orange, with one hemisphere rotated by 90 degrees to the other and stitched together using six rows of stitches.
Bowling faster is a goal of many cricketers. Petersen and colleagues found that a 10week program of training with underweight and overweight cricket balls did not increase the bowling speed of male club-level cricket players.
Bounce
The bounce of a cricket ball is an essential factor in its performance, as it influences the bowler’s ability to swing and grip the pitch. A new ball has a higher bounce than an older one, and this is due to the difference in its materials and manufacturing. It is also influenced by the surface conditions and weather.
In general, bowlers described as having a heavy ball are not actually very fast, but they are able to impact the bat with greater force than is suggested by their pace. This is because they are able to generate a lot of backspin.
When choosing a cricket ball, it is important to consider its weight, material quality and seam strength. It is also vital to ensure that it is durable and that its seam position and stitching are properly placed, especially for spin bowlers. The textured surface is also important, and brands such as Kookaburra and SG are known for their excellent grip.
Feel
In a cricket ball, a cork sphere is layered with tightly wound string and covered by two leather halves. Each half is stitched with an inner seam and a raised outer seam. The seams create a distinctive feel when struck by a bat. The higher the seam, the more the ball will vibrate when hit. Usually, a high quality ball for international level cricket will have three seams and six rows of stitches. Lower-quality balls may have two seams.
Often the best way to find out how heavy a cricket ball is is by playing with one. Ideally, you will use a regulation cricket bat rather than a tape ball. This will ensure that the bat is safe if it is hit by the ball.
Commentators often describe a bowler as having a “heavy ball”. What does this mean in physics terms? A heavy ball simply means that a delivery seems to impact the bat with more force than is expected from its pace.

It was Eden Gardens in March last year. After KKR won the IPL, Gambhir’s leadership was praised by every team member. The former opener, part of two World Cup-winning sides, has a special bond with this venue, first as KKR captain and then as a backroom staff of the franchise. It is so deep-rooted that he even came back for a farewell shoot after becoming India’s coach. Gambhir is back at his beloved Eden. But at the moment, he is under pressure. KKR’s title-winning team last year had Mitchell Starc, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine — stars in their own right but not demigods. Things were a bit different in India’s Test set-up. If there’s any power struggle in that dressing room, as an outpouring of leaks suggest, India’s T20 side doesn’t have prima donnas and it should work to Gambhir’s advantage. This is a team that is being built in his image, keeping stardust at arm’s length. To start with, the head coach has a captain in this format with whom he has a fine working relationship. Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav complement each other. The latter said as much at the pre-match press conference. “I have played under Gauti bhai for four years (at KKR),” said Surya. “I have spent a lot of time with him. I know how he works. Without talking he can read your mind. His style, coaching style, and we are moving in the right direction.” What exactly is Gambhir’s coaching style? Is he flexible? “He (Gambhir) keeps things simple,” said Surya. “He gives a lot of freedom. And he lets the players express themselves.” For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Team India ahead of the 1st T20I vs England at the Eden Gardens (PC: Subhayan Chakraborty) Even during India’s practice on the match eve, the mood looked to be light. Unlike Tests, India have been in great form in T20Is, winning nine matches out of the last 10. Their heavy artillery is nicely revving up and with the next T20 World Cup scheduled in 2026, the team’s quest for title defence starts with this series. Surya, however, chose to live in the moment. “I think there is still a long way to go for the World Cup to happen,” he said. “We are taking it one series at a time. Like how we started in Sri Lanka, then we played Bangladesh and then we went to South Africa.” Hardik Pandya being removed from the leadership scheme of things — Axar Patel is the new vice-captain in this format — was mentioned. Surya begged to differ. “Hardik is also a part of the leadership group,” said the skipper. “The relationship with him has been really great.” Surya hailed Mohammed Shami’s return to the fold and spoke about how his experience would help the team. After taking a break yesterday, the 34-year-old fast bowler had a good session at the nets today, bowling from a full run-up. Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar, too, bowled a lot at the nets. Varun Chakravarthy went through his paces as well. Given the dew factor, will India go with two spinners? Playing an extra fast bowler or Nitish Reddy as a seam-bowling all-rounder might be a better idea.
