Lolol sometimes it’s so funny reading peoples posts about “Mormon” theology that is based on Exmo stories, tradition/culture but not doctrine, and like random statements by some church leader 200 years ago that was not put into doctrine/canonized, or that he was corrected/reprimanded on, and all of us look back on like “well that guy was racist/sexist. Anyways moving on…” like tbh it just makes me laugh. Like I know our theology is a bit different than mainstream Christianity but y’all don’t need to make it sound like we are out here truly believing half the stuff you say about us.

I was taught that scripture memorization was extremely important and that one of the reasons it was important was so that we could still have the bible with us in the event we ever were persecuted for the faith and denied access to the sacred text. And this belief went deep. Because it in theory had happened to people throughout history and throughout the world. It didn't matter that we lived in America. It didn't matter that our government and culture would never censure Christianity this way and is frankly incapable of actual Christian persecution. Because it happened elsewhere and elsewhen. Because the end times could happen at any moment and then the world would turn on believers.
Christians will preach that in Christ they don't have to be afraid, that God's perfect love casts out fear. But then they do shit like this, handing down a tradition of fear to the next generation. The deep-rooted terror is something they planted, something they tended in their garden of faith. It's built in, a native species right at home inside a religion that wants you to be afraid.

When I was like 7 or 8, I kept finding spiders in my room and in my bed and when I told my bio dad about it, he told me that god sends spiders to the rooms of children who are going to hell. I later learned that MY DAD was the one who was putting the spiders in my bed.

Saw a review for one of the Anne books that LMM was "filling it with her ideas on God and politics" as a very unfavorable thing. Like. My dude. You were the one who chose to read a book series written by a minister's wife who grew up in the 1870s and 1880s. There's no way it wasn't going to have that in it

Every now and then I see the discourse circulate on this hellsite, and I wonder if people know that the term 'yandere' used to have an extremely specific definition that no longer holds up to how people use it today
#I'm old enough to remember the original 'yangiri' discourse someone help me.#I don't have answers for this okay it's one of those things where if enough time and people change the definition of something there's not#much can be done about it. This isn't a call to action or anything. Just an old person talking from a rocking chair.#There's a reason I call what I write 'soft' but it's actually a lot closer to 'classic'.#Anyway that very specific original definition was something like: “so in love it made them sick”#Which often got interpreted as “insecure” or “overprotected” depending on the genre.#A big part of the ending would be either the yan killing themself; their competition; or -- and this is not a joke--#“true love would cure them”#(I don't like that one. I like it when the darling manipulates their yan but that's my personal predilection.)#You can see why some authors might play that for laughs instead of drama#in a uhhhhh sitcom-ish kind of way. Overbearing wife. Guard dog husband. Be careful. He bites.#Anyway the whole “yans hurting their darlings” wasn't unheard of but it wasn't common either? It was an outburst at the world#not an outburst at the love interest. Why won't they just let us be together? I'll make them! They can't get in between us!#At least hurting the darling wasn't the point. Yans aren't meant to be a 1 to 1 for being in an abusive relationship.#It's more about what if someone has too many emotions for one person and they're overflowing.#I dunno. Whenever I hear younger yan fans talk about it it's like “don't quote the scripture at me” kind of feeling#“That's not what yandere is” I was into yandere before you could read. Back when we had dial-up. Leave me alone in my retirement home.#And this is not a kink shaming thing if you're into the whole show of force because of whatever horror-based reason that's your thing#I get it. I really do. But this one is an actual rant about missing the point of the original text:#The whole thing about breaking legs to keep someone around actually meant something when it was a teenage girl trying to dominate a much#larger boy or man. When it's a man doing it to a girl it looses the meaning of the text. Like I get that for most people that's not what#they're going for. But the original usage was doing something. It was supposed to make the powerful feel powerless.#(and to remind people teenage girls are terrifying)

W T W V A L E N T I N E S W E E K ; day five - agape ↳ the mother
the mother is the supreme force of love and goodness in the world. she represents selfless love above all, giving so much of herself to keep her children safe and happy. at least that's what the books all say...

Let us use our words to bring light and love, just as Jesus did. He offered comfort, forgiveness, peace, and hope. Let us share the good news and bring faith and life to those around us.
Tumblr media
O God, help us to speak in a way that reflects our faith in Jesus. May our words be a witness to others of our commitment to Him. We pray as Jesus taught us: "Our Father in heaven, may Your name be honored, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today what we need for this day. Forgive us our debts, as we have also forgiven those who owe us. And don't let us be tempted, but save us from the evil one." Amen.

This really is a situation that proves my grandpa right; good people do have the worst politics and should stay out of it.
The pig headed defense of Hamas, that might be a terrorist org - I don't care - but definitely is a radical extremist group. We know even from Palestinian people that Hamas does not represent them all and that Hamas does harm and hurt them too. Directly. But we of course cannot mention it because to the good people the victims need to be 'correct' and easy to identify.
Personally I don't care to debate Hamas and its tactics, but I don't need to because my support for Palestine is not based on vibes and emotions. And a need to be a good person.
The amount of misinformation that is so clumsily delivered I know it's self soothing; Israel has only jewish citizens, who are all blond/e and blue eyed btw (lol. Lmao even) so it's fine to "wipe it out" rn, some nuclear strikes are justified. OK. The jews have a victim mentality and what Israel is doing is so much worse than the holocaust. ... Ok
You click on that profile and it's a 18yo dumbass trying to be a good person amd their friends. Like genuinely they are trying and I can see it. But they have absolutely no idea to move past "goodness" so they can only operate on victim and dehumanized oppressor they couldn't identify yesterday.
Log out. For real. Go to a library and look at a map pre 1944 and understand that Palestines claim to the land is indisputable no matter how nice Israel could be or how shitty Palestine might decide to behave. Ground your political views in reality and history and fucking facts.

Article by a "woman pastor": You should just call us pastors because we want to be pastors. Don't question our calling because you wouldn't question a man's calling.
Actually we do or at least should! Church leadership roles have very specific requirements laid out in the Bible and it should be determined by churches if the man is qualified. If we let anybody do whatever they want in the church, it would lead to chaos and heresy.
