After joining the X-Men Remy has slowed down with the thiefing a little

Which basically meant that you had to steal enough for both of you. Which was good for him because he got lots of presents out of it but like…bad for everyone else

Now you were priding yourself on always being rather relaxed

Your hands always were steady and you never were nervous when sneaking your hand into a stranger's pocket

So who knew that the absolute scariest thing you'd ever give Remy was the one thing that you hadn't stolen for him

"Okay what's going on?" Remy looks at you, after you had asked him for a walk around the compound but then spent the time unusually silent.

For a moment you just look at him and then put your hand into your own pocket to grab the object inside. "I wanted to give something to you."

"Oh?" he smirks. "You're usually not that nervous when gifting me anything."

You take a deep breath and then pull out the small velvet box while sinking onto your knee simultaneously.

His eyes widen in shock. God, in any other situation you would relish in the realization that you had managed to surprise him.

"Remy LeBeau. You are…probably the best thing that ever happened to me." you fiddle around with the box in your hand. "And…god i've never been happier than just whenever i'm with you. And I know that this isn't…" you sigh and open the box, showing off the ring inside. "I know we can't officially do this. Not yet at least. But I want to…look at you and call you my husband."

He just stares at you.

"...This is the part where you say either yes or no but my knee is kinda getting sore."

He seems to awake from his trance, just nodding slowly. "...yes. Yes of course you bastard!" with a sudden burst of energy he throws himself into you for a hug, landing both of you on the ground. 

You try to stay cool, probably failing miserably as you grab his hand, putting the ring on his finger.

"I love you" you whisper

So this is going to be my very first fic on here, I’m a little nervous but kind of excited I hope you like it

Series X-Men

Remy lebeau Gambit x male reader

(Y/N) couldn’t shake the feeling something was going to happen, for years he’s trusted and honed his senses and they’ve always been wright. This was not good it was the worst sensation (Y/N) had ever felt.

Standing alone in the corner of the dimly lit room full of friends. This should be a good day, no a great day the celebration of Scott and Jeans wedding. But the feeling persists. Y/N wanders the room recognising friends and family from fellow mutants to politicians.

Y/N shuffling through the crowd of people, glass in hand, dressed to the nines for this beautiful event. Wanting nothing more than to figure out what is going to happen and wanting the room to swallow him whole, bumps into someone deep in thought he feels a pair of hands firmly planted on his shoulders. “Woah there mon ami where’s the fire”.

Y/N, startled out his thoughts bumping into his best friend could only blush “no fire, just thinking that’s all Remy” Remy was observant enough to know his friend was troubled by something, but also knows not to push Y/N’s his best friend, his wingman and his confidant.

Recently though there have been changes in this companionship the rest of the x-men had noticed the only ones to know why are the telepaths Jean Grey Summers and Charles Xavier. Jean and Charles sharing knowing glances at the pair knowing the two men and their feelings.

The changes began a month ago when Remy had started spending more time with Y/N than Rogue. The reason behind that being for a long time things between Remy and Rogue becoming more complex leading the couple to separate, when Remy had a talk with Rogue about how things had changed and they should move on.

Remy for a while now had developed feelings for his best friend Y/N, finally single he has wanted to explore these feelings and could only hope that Y/N feels the same. “Y/N you’re actually the person I was looking for”. Y/N could only look like a deer in headlights “don’t worry mon cheri, I just thought we could talk, I want to tell you something mon amour” Y/N could only blush more noticing the change from dear to love all Y/N. Outdoor think was “does Remy know oh no” Y/N was sweating bullets panicking, Remy ever observant notices Y/N start to look around the room almost wanting to escape.

Remy leading Y/N out of the room celebrating the newly weds “breath Y/N mon cheri it’s nothing bad but it’s important” Y/N was all to focused on Remy’s hand in his as he guided him out the room “ Y/N have you noticed how different the mansion has been recently”

“Well I noticed during the wedding planning Jean was relaxed and Scott was the bridezilla” with a laugh.

“No mon cheri I meant between us”

“I’ve noticed you’ve been spending more time with me, there’s been a tense atmosphere between you and Rogue, is the.”

“We broke up, I started noticing problems in the relationship and we decided to end things we deserve to be happy, right mon amour” Remy interrupted

Y/N was yet again startled as he feels Remy’s lips meet his, it was slow and sensual like electricity coursing through your whole being. Y/N felt arms tighten round his body as the kiss deepens.

“I’m sorry bout that mon cheri, I had wanted to do that for a while now babe, I wanted to tell you that I have feelings for you and want to explore them. What do you think mon Cheri would you explore this with me”.

Y/N couldn’t believe it stunned, Remy had actually felt the same way “I want to explore this too Remy you have no idea how long I’ve had feeling for you for” he leans in for a kiss. There lips meeting in a sensual dance sharing of feelings.

“Well then mon amour let’s make up for all that time shall we”.

Style of Reader Fic - First Person

I shook my head slightly, watching Remy make a fool of himself trying to impress Rogue again. Logan was trying to encourage him, a glint of feral satisfaction as Morph and Jubilee talked with Storm and Jean. I never quite understood his fascination with the southern woman, though I could admit that she was pretty.

A startled laugh escaped my chest as I watched Bakugou realize that Midoriya had beaten him today, the race to the dorms now over. Kirishima was trying not to laugh, though Denki and Mina were giggling quietly. I rolled my eyes as anger eventually overtook the blond’s face. I had homework to do before meeting with Shinso to train with the capture weapon again.

I groaned softly, turning over and feeling my breath catch in my throat, Natasha was curled up on the other hotel bed just across the room, with an arm under her head. In her arms was the stuffed animal I had gifted her the day before.

There was a sense of dread filling my head as I tried to spot any of my questmates. Percy was missing, again, and worry filled my being as I spotted Nico disappear into the shadows, looking much paler than he had that morning. A startled scream escaped me as something crashed into my side, a glance and I was relieved to see that it was just Mrs. O’Leary.

Style of Reader Fic - Second Person

You were surprised to find that Jean had waited for you instead of heading off with the other girls. Training had been strenuous today, and your back was sore and your hair a tangled mess. A flush appeared when you noticed that she was holding a brush, and was giving you a quiet smile of reassurance.

You sighed as you followed after Tony. The two of you were once again sent out despite the very obvious hate and dislike the two of you held for each other. He was listening to AC/DC on headphones and ignoring your general existence, which was fine by you. By all means he could ignore you.

You were giggling hysterically as you followed after Toga, music running through your head as you tried to decide on what ‘radio station’ you wanted to listen to for the night. You were smiling as Toga glanced back at you, excitement in her eyes. Ahead of her, just barely so, Dabi was ignoring the both of you.

You couldn’t find Annabeth, which would normally be worrisome, however you also knew that she had probably holed herself up in the Athena cabin to study for the exam she would have to take to go to New Rome. You were proud of your girlfriend, just like you knew your boyfriend was. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Percy wouldn’t be joining Annabeth for the first year of collage, instead, he was staying at camp with you to help train the flood of younger campers that had made their way to camp.

It is useless for a character to appear very frequently or have many comics if he is not respected and given the place he deserves. It's about quality, not quantity. I don't have favorite characters and I'm actually more of the DC world, but come on! You don't have to be a huge reader or fan to realize that Gambit is always downgraded to being the man behind Rogue, or some kind of "filler." He is a very complex character with a lot of unexplored potential.

Whether a character is represented well or not- they’re still being used. An example I would give is X-23; I may not LOVE Laura’s representation lately...but the reality is it’s still WAY easier being an X-23 fan than a Banshee fan, Husk fan, or Mercury fan... I still get material to read; even if I may not LIKE that material.

All characters are gonna get bad writing eventually, it’s just what happens when you have a continuous story written by several different writers; I think it’s 100% fair to critique it or say you don’t like it but the reality is all characters go through bad writing at some point. Gambit at least has the benefit that he’s not gonna end on a bad note; one bad story isn’t gonna lead him to disappear forever from the books they way other characters do. Gambit fans are never gonna have to worry about Gambit’s last story being him dying in a bad suicide story-arc like Blindfold, being dead forever like Mettle in ‘Avengers Arena’, or being labeled as abusive like Hellion was In Liu’s X-23 series.

As for Rogue bringing Gambit’s characterization down- I think it just depends on the writer. Marjorie Liu focused on Gambit without Rogue when she included him in her books. Kelly Thompson chose to focus more on Rogue’s POV when she wrote the mini. Gambit was featured in X-Men Red without Rogue. Different writers are gonna have different takes. Personally I think the problem with Gambit is the same problem characters like Hellion and Nightwing have- they blur the line between male fulfillment and alternative audience gazes. Gambit isn’t really meant to be a male reader self-insert the way characters like Scott are and there’s a heavy element of sexualization to his character. As I said before- he also has a large LGBTQIA and female fan base; which as we have seen, is still viewed as unwelcome by certain gatekeepers in the comic book community. Gambit himself has been bi-coded over the years. Gambit I honestly think just makes certain writers and viewers uncomfortable. When the film rumors were dropped years ago, people were especially upset Channing Tatum was cast and many male fans said they didn’t WANT a Gambit film. They joked about Gambit being a ‘‘stupid character”...because honestly women like his character and if women remotely like ANYTHING- society has to make fun of it.

Where DC tries every so often to ‘‘masculinize’ Nightwing (think the stupid ‘Rick’ over ‘Dick’ storyline); Marvel just shelves certain characters.  It’s the reason the Marvel swimsuit revamp got canceled. It’s the reason writers LOVE QQ and go on about him being ‘‘sympathetic”, but hate Hellion. And it’s why typically Gambit gets shafted with writing.

It fully sucks and is terrible- but that has absolutely nothing to do with Rogue...it has to do with writers refusing to appeal to readers who aren’t heterosexual men and disliking characters that do.
