Green energy is in its heyday.
Renewable energy sources now account for 22% of the nation’s electricity, and solar has skyrocketed eight times over in the last decade. This spring in California, wind, water, and solar power energy sources exceeded expectations, accounting for an average of 61.5 percent of the state's electricity demand across 52 days.
But green energy has a lithium problem. Lithium batteries control more than 90% of the global grid battery storage market.
That’s not just cell phones, laptops, electric toothbrushes, and tools. Scooters, e-bikes, hybrids, and electric vehicles all rely on rechargeable lithium batteries to get going.
Fortunately, this past week, Natron Energy launched its first-ever commercial-scale production of sodium-ion batteries in the U.S.
“Sodium-ion batteries offer a unique alternative to lithium-ion, with higher power, faster recharge, longer lifecycle and a completely safe and stable chemistry,” said Colin Wessells — Natron Founder and Co-CEO — at the kick-off event in Michigan.
The new sodium-ion batteries charge and discharge at rates 10 times faster than lithium-ion, with an estimated lifespan of 50,000 cycles.
Wessells said that using sodium as a primary mineral alternative eliminates industry-wide issues of worker negligence, geopolitical disruption, and the “questionable environmental impacts” inextricably linked to lithium mining.
“The electrification of our economy is dependent on the development and production of new, innovative energy storage solutions,” Wessells said.
Why are sodium batteries a better alternative to lithium?
The birth and death cycle of lithium is shadowed in environmental destruction. The process of extracting lithium pollutes the water, air, and soil, and when it’s eventually discarded, the flammable batteries are prone to bursting into flames and burning out in landfills.
There’s also a human cost. Lithium-ion materials like cobalt and nickel are not only harder to source and procure, but their supply chains are also overwhelmingly attributed to hazardous working conditions and child labor law violations.
Sodium, on the other hand, is estimated to be 1,000 times more abundant in the earth’s crust than lithium.
“Unlike lithium, sodium can be produced from an abundant material: salt,” engineer Casey Crownhart wrote in the MIT Technology Review. “Because the raw ingredients are cheap and widely available, there’s potential for sodium-ion batteries to be significantly less expensive than their lithium-ion counterparts if more companies start making more of them.”
What will these batteries be used for?
Right now, Natron has its focus set on AI models and data storage centers, which consume hefty amounts of energy. In 2023, the MIT Technology Review reported that one AI model can emit more than 626,00 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent.
“We expect our battery solutions will be used to power the explosive growth in data centers used for Artificial Intelligence,” said Wendell Brooks, co-CEO of Natron.
“With the start of commercial-scale production here in Michigan, we are well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for efficient, safe, and reliable battery energy storage.”
The fast-charging energy alternative also has limitless potential on a consumer level, and Natron is eying telecommunications and EV fast-charging once it begins servicing AI data storage centers in June.
On a larger scale, sodium-ion batteries could radically change the manufacturing and production sectors — from housing energy to lower electricity costs in warehouses, to charging backup stations and powering electric vehicles, trucks, forklifts, and so on.
“I founded Natron because we saw climate change as the defining problem of our time,” Wessells said. “We believe batteries have a role to play.”

hot take but pjms are loosing the plot w the never ending album promo comparison debate. its not a jimin-against-the-world type situation, but a members vs bang-sb-jk situation. that was very clear to pjms last year but it seems we’ve gone back on some of that progress. trying to pit the others against each other and nitpick similarities and differences between all of their individual releases actually takes attention away from and benefits the real culprit but oh well.
the levels of demand among the members have always been different that is not new information to the members, their fans, or their management. the real issue (at least for me) is not others members getting “more” or different promo rollout than him. let’s be serious, how did more or less music videos help any of the other members out? what difference did a cd make for most of them? and there are many other examples where the others (except for one ofc) got things he didn’t that weren’t necessarily helpful for them.
all of the members have gotten different sources of promotion, which i actually encourage. what would be the point in all of them doing the exact same thing? at one point, jimin was considered privileged about getting his physical album to be available on the same day as its digital release. then that became a norm for the others.
but by constantly nitpicking normal differences (among 6 members) in their rollouts we lose sight of the real mistreatment or whats actually disadvantageous to him. the real issue is not the (5) others getting different things, it is him not receiving the *level of support that his demand requires*. i dont see an issue with the other 5 getting a little boost here and there, because they lack demand and its only natural for them to expand their horizons and find a new audience that does support them. however, jimin ALREADY has an audience and is not being given the support that corresponds to it (e.g. radioplay, award shows, timely certifications, praise from his own damn label, etc) despite it being actually successful. bottom line, team “global superstar” is the common enemy here and all of the other solos are too busy fighting each other to accept that.
Solos pitting the members against each other is how they’ve always operated though. That’s literally what they all get off on including pjms. Comparing numbers and claiming that the member they stan is better. And while I’m sure other solos do recognize that Bang favoriting JK has had some negative affects on the member they stan, they don’t really have it out for him because they’re main enemy will always be Jimin. He is their common ground. Somebody they can all team up against and hate in unison. But regarding pjms, they still universally agree that Bang and Hybe are the real prime culprits in all of this.
I agree that rapline getting bulkier rollouts in contrast to Jimin hasn’t helped them and I never wanted to have identical rollouts because creatively that’s boring. What I and other pjms have always wanted is fairness at base level, like the CD, playlisting and servicing to radio because we know beyond that most likely he isn’t going to get JK level label aid that would be proportionate to his demand in the states. It’s been established that it’s intentionally set like that by Bang and Scooter.
The MV situation is simply because Jimin asked for a visual and was denied. If Jimin had never mentioned that, no pjm would be stuck on him not getting those 2 extra MVs. I’d just see it as something that I’d also like to see from him down the line. It was never about wanting them because we believed it was crucial for charting or exposure. If all seven members got the same amount of those 3 things, I’d have no qualms on that end. And the numbers made off that would just be left up to who has more interest and that can’t really be helped with how skewed it already is.
Common sense would dictate to any label or management that you’d push what has demand in the market that shows it, but Bang and Scooter are stupid men and Jimin isn’t who they want to push so they half ass everything surrounding him. We all know that already. So it’s not that pjms are failing to see the bigger picture, cause we’ve already come to that conclusion like you said. It just keeps gets rehashed because everytime a member has a comeback and gets something Jimin didn’t get for FACE/LC it just irritates all over again. Can’t really fault us for being annoyed in retrospect. But again, we’ll see how they go about PJM2 because for the other members obviously things have went better for them promo wise and *hopefully* it’ll be the same for Jimin too.

I 100% agree. I found the journalist to be very critical of kpop and Hybe in particular, and rightfully so. There is a power/ connections machinery going on that aims to manipulate the public perception of the artists, particularly he mentions JK’s and katseye, both modeled to conquer the us market based on a formula (english releases, trending sounds, both linked to scooter as well, hybe america and geffen). And I think it’s very clear to notice that (except for armys or maybe they pretend like they don’t see it) it’s all calculated but at the end, it feels extremely inorganic.
He also mentions the metanarratives that run the fandom and that are created and installed by the company aswell. Especially if they have the tools (mediaplay, pr) to spread them.
The fans and some gullible pg may fall for the perfect picture, but I think the insiders of the industry know, the company itself knows and I’m sure they tremble when they have to face the actual numbers of their profit every time they hold their meetings. It also makes me wonder, Hybe is now a player in the US music industry, do you think some other labels are trying to expand their horizons to Korea? We now see the blackpink girls with their own companies and signed with american record labels. I wonder if one of those labels has tried to poach any of the bts members.
Thanks for your astute observations. So much was said in that article, but between the lines. It's pretty much impossible to speak freely about k-pop, and especially BTS, without getting crucified by the fandom.
I just saw the news about Rose signing with Atlantic. Have all of the women now signed with a different label for their solo work? BTS members - at least a few of them - should be in high demand. Surely they have been approached individually by western labels?
Have you seen the news about Warner Music's new label in S. Korea? I believe they are trying to sign the original Fifty Fifty line up, but they're tied up in court??

These vintage photos capture the teenage girls’ fashion and style of the 1950s.
During this time, fashion was more conservative and gender-specific than it is today.
Teenage girls were expected to wear skirts and dresses in all but the most casual circumstances.
In 1944, Americans started to use the word ‘teenager’ to describe the place of youth in their society.
From the very beginning, it was a marketing term that recognized the spending power of adolescents.
Within a culture that thought of business in terms of national identity and individual freedom, the fact that youth had become a market also meant that it had become a discrete, separate age group with its own peer-generated rituals, rights and demands.
Tumblr media
Since teens no longer had to work in order to help their parents, they began to take part-time jobs or they would receive a monthly allowance in order to spend on non-essential goods such as clothes.
Teens were strongly influenced by film, television and magazines. They were persuaded to use their money towards non-essential goods that society convinced them were needs, not wants.
Consumer goods, which were denied to a war-torn Europe, were available to American teens, thus creating a consumer boom.
These single young people with cash from paid work soon had their own fashions, own music, own cafes, own milk bars, and by the end of the decade, even their own transport in the form of fuelled scooters.
Teenagers suddenly dominated style in clothes, haircuts, and even travel abroad.
A generation gap began to emerge between parents and teen offspring when teenagers started to mirror the image of their peers rather than their elders.
Tumblr media
Fashion designers sold full skirts and stiff petticoats, or a super-slim skirt and sweater with bows.
Tight-fitting pedal pushers or capri pants were popular leisure wear and jeans, which were called dungarees in the 1950s.
The style became acceptable after people saw a photo of Marilyn Monroe wearing a pair.
Young men wore a shirt, tie, and sharply pressed slacks. If you were the rebellious type, however, you wore dark clothes all the time, refused to iron anything, and were just generally looking rough on purpose.
One 1950s fad for girls was to wear a man’s shirt outside their jeans. In high school, a soft sweater paired with a collared blouse was a smart look.
People definitely dressed up special for formal events.
For weddings and proms, young women wore fancy dresses like their elders. But clothing choices were quite a bit different for informal school dances.
Many teen girls preferred full skirts, some with 4-inch hems. These skirts were often made of wool felt fabric in bright colors, including the world-famous poodle skirt.
The 1950s circle skirts were worn with tucked-in, tight-fitting blouses. It was usually tied together with a wide belt, flat-heeled shoes, and bobby socks or anklets.

The EU gives final green light to removable batteries in mobile phones from 2027 on.
Tumblr media
The regulation also establishes a calendar for the recycling of batteries from different devices
The European Council has given the green light last Monday to the new regulation[1] that will make it easier for consumers to change portable batteries in mobile phones and other electronic devices from 2027[2] on, for which date they must be easily removable by users. With this, the Twenty-seven support the provisional political agreement reached last December with the European Parliament on new rules for the design, production and waste management of all types of batteries sold in the EU. The regulation will be signed by the European Council and the European Parliament before it is published in the Official Gazette of the EU and enters into force 20 days later.
This standard aims to create a circular economy for batteries by addressing all stages of the life cycle of these products, from design to production and waste treatment. This initiative is of great importance, since the demand for batteries is expected to increase tenfold in 2030.
The regulation establishes that portable batteries incorporated into devices must be removable and replaceable by the end user by 2027 at the latest, allowing sufficient time for operators to adapt the design of their products to this requirement.
“Batteries are key to the decarbonisation process and the EU shift towards zero emission modes of transport. At the same time, end-of-life batteries contain many valuable resources[3] and we need to be able to reuse those critical raw materials instead of relying on third countries for supplies. The new standards will promote the competitiveness of the European industry and guarantee that the new batteries are sustainable and contribute to the ecological transition”, said Teresa Ribera, third vice president of the Spanish Government and minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, at the meeting of Ministers of Energy and Environment held in Valladolid.
The regulation will apply to all batteries, including all waste portable batteries; from electric vehicles; from industrial devices; permitting to start, light-up and ignite (SLI), mainly used for vehicles and machinery, and for light means of transportation, such as electric bicycles, electric mopeds and electric scooters.
Circular economy
The new rules aim to promote a circular economy by regulating batteries throughout their life cycle. Therefore, the regulation sets requirements for end of life, including targets and obligations for collection, as well as for material recovery and extended producer responsibility.
The regulation establishes targets for producers to collect portable battery waste (63% by the end of 2027 and 73% by the end of 2030), and introduces a specific collection target for used batteries for light means of transport (51 % by the end of 2028 and 61% by the end of 2031). In addition, there is a target for the recovery of lithium from used batteries (50% by the end of 2027 and 80% by the end of 2031). The latter can be modified by delegation of authority depending on the market and technological advances and the availability of lithium. It also includes mandatory minimum levels of recycled content for industrial batteries, SLI and electric vehicles (16% for cobalt, 85% for lead, 6% for lithium and 6% for nickel.
Finally, the regulation introduces labelling and information requirements, among other things, on battery components and recycled content, and an electronic 'passport' and QR code. In order to give Member States and economic players on the market enough time to prepare, the labelling requirements will have to be applicable from 2026 and the QR code from 2027.

Will Electric Skateoards Get Cheaper In The Future?
Electronic boards are likely to get cheaper. However, this depends on various factors. Some of these include consumer demand, material acquisition, etc. Another additional factor is battery cost.
They could become cheaper if demand, market competition and economies of scale increase. That said, some see electric skateboards as temporary, and they may well evolve into something else. What should you do with this information?
Regardless, now is a great time to buy some sort of electric transporter. A personal electric vehicle is a cheaper form of transportation than other forms of transportation such as gasoline vehicles. Plus, they're electric, which means there's very little sweating.
This makes them ideal for commuters looking for a fun, cheap and green form of transportation.
One factor in e-boards' continued existence and becoming cheaper is that the world has become greener and more people are buying and investing in electric skateboards, scooters, cars and helicopters.
Help the world move faster in this direction!

Chetak ka Result The scooter, which has a range of up to 95 km and a top speed of 70 km/h, has been well-received by consumers looking for a reliable and affordable electric vehicle.
But what impact has Chetak had on India's electric vehicle market as a whole?
Firstly, Chetak has helped to raise awareness about the benefits of electric vehicles among the general public. Many consumers were previously hesitant to switch to electric due to concerns about range anxiety and battery life, but Chetak's success has shown that electric vehicles can be just as reliable and practical as traditional petrol-powered vehicles.
Furthermore, Chetak has spurred competition in the electric vehicle market. Other major players such as Hero Electric and TVS Motors have also released their own electric scooters in response to Chetak's popularity. This increased competition has led to a wider range of electric vehicle options for consumers, as well as lower prices due to market saturation.
The success of Chetak has also encouraged the Indian government to further promote the adoption of electric vehicles. In 2019, the government announced a goal of having 30% of all vehicles on Indian roads electric by 2030. The launch of Chetak and the subsequent surge in demand for electric scooters has put the country on track to meet this target.
Overall, Chetak's impact on India's electric vehicle market has been significant. It has helped to increase awareness and acceptance of electric vehicles, spurred competition among manufacturers, and encouraged government support for the sector. ⸻  JOSH DUHAMEL. HE + HIM / have you ever heard of THE HEAT IS ON by glen frey, well,     it describes STEPHEN MEYER to a tee! the 50 year old, and BAND MANAGER was spotted browsing through the stalls at portobello road market last sunday, do you know them? would you say  HE is     more demanding or more GOOFY instead? anyway, they remind me of designer suits, a list of directions followed by a laugh and a joke, crockery purchased but never used and a bin pilled high with takeout containers, maybe you’ll bump into them soon!
time in notting hill ; 20 years.
tw: death, murder mention
ABOUT.
Name: Stephen Meyer Nicknames: Steve Age: Fifty Date of Birth: 10th October 1972 Birthplace: Canterbury, Kent, UK Occupation: Band manager Romantic/sexual orientation: Heteroromantic/heterosexual
Stephen was raised by a single father in Canterbury in Kent. His mother passed away around 12 months after he was born, for reasons unknown. Reasons still unknown. He’s been convinced since he was 5 that his dad murdered her.
He was never much of a family guy, he just doesn’t believe in it. Simply the idea of playing happy families freaks him out.
It was no surprise to anyone when he got out of the city as fast as he could and ended up at the University of Southampton to study music. He’d always been obsessed with it, drowning his sorrows in sound.
When he graduated he made no move to head home, instead chose to hang around in Southampton until he reached his 30′s. He spent quite a bit of time playing in a band, trying to get them noticed and to get someone to sign them. He had little success and in the realised he wanted to make more of a difference, he wanted to be the one to make dreams come true.
The move to London came just after his 30th birthday and that was when he started working for a small record label. In the end though, he did branch out, working as an independent manager and wanting to help talent get discovered, much like he’d wanted in his younger years.
He found someone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, but not get married, not start a family. According to them both they have the perfect life with no stresses or strains, although it remains to be seen if that’s actually true or not.
HEADCANONS.
He spends most his time riding around on an electric scooter. It totally pisses everyone off, but he’s past caring.
If there’s one thing that Stephen is, it’s Jekyll and Hyde; he spends his days working acting goofy, fun and eclectic, yet when he’s at home he’s much calmer, chill and that can be felt by other people.
He has a collection of baseball caps that he never wears, merely hangs up on his office wall.
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
- long term partner. - best friend. - close friends. - artists he’s managed. - old band members from southhampton.

heyy I'm wondering whom do u think is most popular in USA? like take away fandom, solo fandom and payola between jm & jm but normally whom do u think so far reached casual listeners? seven def pushed to gp and I'm sure many heard it but i don't think he made them check out his album or even look more into him?
jimin was always the star in usa, the medias audience and everyone adores him. his peak started since 2019 which was double the rate of 2017 n it was growing up every year till last yr it was silent for everyone tbh but this year he did gained some casual listeners but it's not much of reach still I believe he's the most popular? jk had every push and hundreds of stages but the day after he performed at tsx his songs fell off 200k, if he gained those audience attention it wouldn't atleast fell? it's not measurements of popularity, bcz even if negative articles gave him hype but it's all social media hype so far? most of them called him as scooter client or bts member than jungkook, he didn't cemented his name yet. JIMIN is a brand himself since way back and now hybe is trying to launch jk as brand lol. jimin is household name every where so I don't wanna think from my solo heart but rationally I wanna discuss abt jm popularity vs jk
that's my take, dwhat about yours?
Truthfully I’m sure they both have casual listeners but I believe that jimin’s garnered more of a positive reputation with the music he’s put out that it’ll be exciting at the very least. Not to mention he left everybody on a song like “like crazy.” So naturally people will be interested in what he’s dropping next.
In terms of genuine popularity, jimin takes that too. The tokenism that surrounds jk is heavy to the point that the ratio of people that are here for him specifically pales in comparison to the people who just use him as a vessel to hate on jimin with. Besides that and I’ve said this before, He’s just palatable to the average person. But with being palatable comes unremarkability. His debut was an intentional rehash with no real creativity behind it. Just a farce of an early 2000’s to 2010 formula when people have moved well past that especially in the grand year of 2023.
That’s why GP didn’t take to him because there’s nothing impactful about him. Stack that ontop of back to back meh singles with a meh album to follow? That was never gonna turn people into full on fans en mass. And I know that’s what they were gunning for even more than those numbers because the tricks that they’ve been pulling are not cheap and him gaining fans would’ve offset that by even a fraction. Now he’s just stuck getting carried purely by burnt out armys expensive playlisting and thailand because there’s no real interest outside of that.
He’s almost the mirror image of all these kpop companies who were trying to force their groups into the american market back in 2019 except he had the benefit of being a bts member so people have already been exposed to him. It was a boost but it was squandered because in trying to push him to the forefront, all they did was show that he can’t stand on his own and get a hit by himself. I think the one song that we can somewhat gage his pull through is “too much.” because outside the other songs that one had the least amount of support. Even with two popular fts and playlisting, it pulled 4.3M filtered on global spotify & 598k compared to SMF2 4.8M & 638k with nothing.
So in conclusion, if somebody is truly popular and in demand they should be able to prove that off their own name without the aid of two ceos behind them and jimin was able to do just that.

Upcoming E Scooters in India: What to Expect in 2025
India’s electric vehicle market is growing at an unprecedented pace, and electric scooters (e-scooters) are at the forefront of this transformation. With increasing environmental awareness, government incentives, and advancements in technology, the demand for e-scooters is set to surge in 2025. Manufacturers are gearing up to launch innovative models that cater to the needs of urban commuters, offering affordability, sustainability, and cutting-edge features. Among these industry players, Nextbrain Electric stands out as a key contributor to this revolution, aiming to redefine personal mobility with its advanced e-scooter lineup.
Why 2025 is a Pivotal Year for E-Scooters in India
The Indian government’s push for electric mobility, coupled with evolving consumer preferences, has created an ideal environment for e-scooters to thrive. Here are some reasons why 2025 is expected to be a landmark year for e-scooters in India:
Government Policies: Subsidies and tax benefits for electric vehicles (EVs) will continue to drive adoption.
Improved Infrastructure: Expanding charging networks will make owning and using e-scooters more convenient.
Technological Advancements: Breakthroughs in battery and motor technologies will enhance the performance and affordability of e-scooters.
Urbanization: As cities grow, compact and efficient transportation solutions like e-scooters will become increasingly essential.
Features to Look Forward to in Upcoming E-Scooters
The next generation of e-scooters promises to revolutionize commuting in India. Here are the key features and advancements that we can expect:
Longer Range
Range anxiety has been a significant barrier to EV adoption, but upcoming models aim to tackle this issue head-on. New e-scooters are expected to offer ranges of up to 150-200 kilometers on a single charge, thanks to advancements in battery technology. This makes them ideal for daily commutes and even intercity travel.
Faster Charging
Charging time is another area of significant improvement. Manufacturers are introducing fast-charging capabilities, enabling users to charge their e-scooters in under an hour. Some models may even support swappable battery technology, allowing riders to replace depleted batteries at designated stations in minutes.
Smart Features
Upcoming e-scooters will come equipped with smart technology to enhance the riding experience. These features include:
Mobile App Connectivity: Track battery status, locate charging stations, and receive maintenance alerts through a dedicated app.
GPS Navigation: Integrated systems for easy route planning.
Anti-Theft Systems: Advanced security features like alarms and remote locking.
Voice Assistance: Hands-free controls for added convenience.
Sleek and Ergonomic Designs
Design innovation is another highlight of the upcoming models. Manufacturers are focusing on creating lightweight yet durable e-scooters with stylish and ergonomic designs. Foldable options may also become more prevalent, catering to urban commuters who need portable solutions.
Enhanced Performance
Performance is a critical aspect, and the upcoming e-scooters are expected to deliver on this front. With improved motor efficiency, riders can expect smoother acceleration, higher top speeds, and better torque for climbing inclines. These improvements make e-scooters a viable option for a variety of terrains.
Environmentally Friendly Materials
In line with global sustainability goals, manufacturers are opting for eco-friendly materials in production. Recyclable components and energy-efficient manufacturing processes will reduce the environmental impact of e-scooters.

Since Hero authentic components are constructed from premium materials, they are designed to last longer and function better. Hero OEM components are engineered to deliver optimal performance and longevity, whether you're swapping out a brake pad, air filter, or chain.
