A přesně takhle ztrácím jakoukoliv motivaci pracovat ve vědě.

Je dost možné že vážně nebudu.

Teď to tak vážně nevidím. Když Vám přednášející rovnou řekne, že nemalé procento dat je falešných. Neúplných. Že jako bioinformatik byste sice měl ideálně pracovat na projektu od samého prvopočátku, ale v reálu si Vás najmou až ve chvíli, kdy mají "nějaká" data, ale nemají k nim prakticky žádnou pořádnou dokumentaci.

A vy víte, že je to pravda, protože děláte v laboratoři a víte, jak mizerně to tam v tomhle ohledu funguje...

... Jak neobratně k tomu sami přistupujete... Protože nevíte, jak přesně některé věci měřit...

Uf.

Deprese za dveřmi. (Kecám, spolubydlíme spolu, spolu s vyhořením už od roku ...)

Já popravdě vůbec nevím, zda tady tohle vůbec mohu sdílet, ale...

Věděli jste, že existují ornitologové (nejen) ezoterici, kteří když nejsou schopni určit pohlaví ptáka například při kroužkování, tak nechávají rozhodovat siderické kyvadélko? Že vytáhnou z kapsy hřebík, uvážou ho na provázek a řeknou si "hmm, tak co tady máme?"? A že někteří mají opravdové siderické kyvadélko? A... že to dělá i chlápek s nejvyšším počtem okroužkovaných ptáků v Česku?

Ach jo, ach jo, a pak mají ta data o něčem vypovídat...

You don't need to believe that people as a whole are good or well-intentioned to be an optimist about fixing climate change.

A lot of the time, it's enough to trust in this: people hate being screwed over. And even more than that, they hate feeling screwed over.

Climate change is actively screwing over almost every single person on this planet, whether they know it or not. We just need to keep making sure that people do know that they're getting screwed over, along with all their loved ones, and who's doing it.

Spite and righteous anger will honestly do a lot of the rest.

I am currently playing through the black mesa version of blue shift and doing what im calling a "chumrun" (very stupid I know) I didnt get to see the chumtoad easter egg in the og blue shift but when i saw the black mesa team turned theirs INTO A PLUSHIE!?!?!?!?? i knew i had to bring it to the end of the game with me. I like to think it was a gift that gordon gave him on the day of the res cas and he decided to go back and grab it (idk how that would work but just indulge me) because he is going to find gordon and give him a big ol' hug and a thank you and get out of black mesa together and nothing bad is going to happen :)

You are everything I aspire to be

If parenting has taught me anything, it is the importance of getting down on your hands and knees and teaching not just facts, but love and enthusiasm for the natural world.

This is my son Q and me. I have dozens of photos like this by now, even though he is just two years old.

Every chance I get, I will kneel down with him and show him the little creatures all around us. Especially when they are frogs. He loves frogs for some reason. No idea why.

It is important that we all see this together. It is beautiful. It is magnificent. We are here. It is improbable to the highest degree. It is fleeting, but it is everything we get. And we can get so, so much of it. If we just get our faces into it and really absorb it.

So that's what l'm trying to do here, I guess. Get all of you to join me in the reeds. And I am so happy to have so many of you along for the journey.
