“The photos also reveal new details about Scott’s Nash. The image below shows Eliza and Nash together after he’s released from prison in Episode 4. Here’s the description for the episode, which will air on February 2 at 8/7c on PBS: “Eliza’s life is turned upside down when she finds herself dragged into a missing persons case with a recently released convict by the name of Patrick Nash.”

So we find Nash in a bit of a pickle in prison and licking his wounds,” Scott said in a statement provided by PBS. “So I think he has a lot of his home comforts to keep him happy within the four walls.”

“The great thing about this show is that the writing just gets better and better, and it always started at an incredibly strong point,” Scott continued. “But the joy of coming back here is there’s always new storylines that take you by surprise, keep you intrigued and take all the characters that [creator/wrier Rachael New and writer Ben Edwards] have so beautifully put together in new directions and surprising directions for the audience.”

They always write Nash off.

It's not really spoiler-y, but I do reference season 5.

So here's why I'm bullish on why I think we'll see Patrick Nash again if the show gets a season 6. They always write him off, but then he always returns. I think it's best to think of seasons 2 and 3 as one long season because they wrote and filmed them back-to-back, so they knew that Felix Scott was in for both seasons. They sent Nash to France at the end of season 3, and they sent him to prison at the end of season 4. In season 5, they've sent him to Australia. I get that in Victorian England, this would mean he would never return, but I don't think it matters in the Miss Scarlet Universe! For goodness sakes, they had Eliza and Patrick playing poker and drinking whiskey in the warden's office -- this show is not concerned with remaining true to Victorian England! So maybe he befriends a wealthy old man on the ship whose dying wish was to see Australia, and he's so charmed by Patrick that he leaves him his fortune -- I dunno! I just think the show's creators like to keep their options open -- they've written off so many characters*! But I think Nash is the only one who always returns...

*Rupert Parker to Germany, Hattie Parker to Amsterdam [?], Moses to France, William to New York-- I dunno if I'm missing anyone else...

Patrick and his Sunshine

For the past three finales…

They were together during those last scenes. And for me, this is how S5 ended too

It’s done. It’s over. Now I go back to writing my fics so I don’t cry over this.

something something patrick having no one he can trust, and eliza having no one who trusts her. eliza struggling with the people skills and smooth talking necessary to succeed in business that come naturally to patrick and patrick struggling with the honesty and moral compass that are necessary to run a good and ethical business that are innate to eliza. them tempering each other and inspiring each other to do better but also genuinely liking each other as they are, while most people find them both irritating. the way they seem like polar opposites and come at things from completely different angles when they in fact share the same ambitions, world views, and long term goals. the romantic arc is right there.

Ya know, I'd love to have seen Eliza and Patrick's breakfast date in season 3 episode 3, because there are so many questions it raises. Plus, I'm perhaps too interested in the mundane, it just really showcases a character's personality.

I'd love for some of the many talented ao3 writers to write and share their own interpretations, because I'm nosy.

Now, onto the questions:

What do they eat? Where? How long do they stay? Do they order in English or French? Do they even speak French? How well?

Does this also mean they returned to London together? Perhaps on a train? (I just love trains)

Do they have vulnerable moments? Does Eliza fall asleep in Patrick's presence? (Preferably on Patrick's shoulder, though I really doubt it. I believe she mentions she's tired, and Patrick probably was too.) Are they mistaken for a married couple? Is this when they start the 'married couple' act they do in season 4? Whose idea is it to go along with the scheme?

Does William find out about their shenanigans? How does he react? Same two questions for Ivy.

I just have too many questions. xd

Miss Scarlet Season 5 | Episode 4: The Deal

I just had the thought that in season 4, Patrick gets everything he wants for a brief moment- Eliza works with him at Nash & Sons. They’re solving cases together!

And then he gets arrested 😭😭😭 devastating.

My hopeful thought is Eliza isn’t meant to work at Nash & Sons. She’s meant to have her name above the door too, and Patrick can work with her at her/their agency. So Patrick getting arrested allows for that to eventually happen so maybe it’ll all work out in the end.

I can’t wait to see what they do together in Season 5.

Scarnash Updates S5

SPOILERS BELOW!

I just binged S5 on Passport. I have but one conclusion: Scarnash is screwed. Very, very screwed. Here's my proof:

There was very little Patrick

The Patrick there was regressed Patrick. Lying, non-communicating Patrick, not "I'll always keep trying" Patrick.

They had Eliza prioritize jailing a conman over keeping Patrick out of jail.

They had Eliza give her broke friend one week sharing her office and made him stay in a shitty boarding house rather than offer him a room at her place.

Eliza had NO ROLE in getting him out of prison.

They sent Patrick to Australia, rather than France. Less of an easy trip.

We didn't get any Ivy/Patrick bonding

We got no signs she misses Patrick when he is gone.

We got a lot of fond looks, but nothing like the romantic undercurrents of last season.

They gave Blake SO MUCH favorable treatment. As smart as Eliza. No sexism. No ego problem. Flexibility. Honest. Acknowledgement of Eliza's skill. Good father to a mini-Eliza. Bonding with Ivy. Bonding with Fitzroy. Bonding with Phelps (eventually). Lots of super clear romantic moments with Eliza.

The only consolation of this season's romantic developments is that Patrick will not lose out F***ing William Wellington.
