I'm a history nerd, don't get me wrong, but I always found it funny when people get like really really angry about period dramas being "historically inaccurate" because people from back then didn't gave shit about that. Do you know how inaccurate Shakespear's plays about War of the Roses are? For context War of the Roses happened from 1455 to 1487, Henry VI, Part 1 is believed to have been written in 1591. Best example of Willie not giving a shit is the fact according to him Richard III killed a guy in battle that really happend when he was 3.

And don't even get me started about the Scarlet Pimpernel (1905). You think Orczy cared about being historically accurate when writing abour French Revolution? No, she wanted to write about her Batman prototype. So stop complaining, it makes you look stupid

I finally did it!!!

2 weeks ago I had a dream (a real one, like i was literally asleeep) about some Scarlet Pimpernel merchandise based on the musical. One of the items was a deck of playing cards.

When I woke up I was like- yeah, I really want one of those! So I began to plan the characters and eventually I gained enough confidence to try to draw them.

The concept was this:

♥️ : the Richmond section♦️ : the English section♠️ : the French section ♣️ : the Revolutionary section

I found a place where they can custom-make you the deck so I just had to draw the 12 characters and send it in.

AND NOW IT'S HERE! They were so professional and quick with the printing and I'm more than satisfied with the results.

Soooo here are some pictures of that, a bit of Robespierre and Madame Guillotine and of Percy as Grappin and actress Margot...

This is where my interest in the French Revolution began, in 1999. Believe it or not. :-) Ronan Vibert as Maximilien in The Scarlet Pimpernel. I fell in love. And then I started reading everything I could find about Robespierre and Frev.
