Thunder

Bang!

A loud crash of thunder rang through the apartment, causing Chuuya to bolt upright.

It was a silly thing to be afraid of, really; a storm.

Chuuya Nakahara, the feared Port Mafia Executive.

Afraid of a little thunder.

Dazai stirred beside him, his arm still curled around Chuuya’s waist.

“What’s wrong?” The brunette asked groggily.

Another loud slap of thunder answered his question.

Dazai sat up, turning on the beside lamp and taking in the ginger’s poster.

He was clenching the bed sheet, his pupils dilated, and his breathing out of whack.

He gently pulled Chuuya to his side.

“It’s okay.” He cooed softly, not at all judgmentally nor teasingly as one might expect.

Another bang of thunder and the smaller man buried himself further against his husband’s side, clutching into his shirt.

“Let’s watch a movie, okay? It’ll distract you.” Dazai reached to grab the remote.

“I don’t wanna keep you up.” Chuuya mumbles, his normally confident and boisterous voice, now quiet and shaky, and he flinches as yet more lightening strikes.

The brunette scoffs, finding his husband’s words absolutely ridiculous. “I owe you for all the sleepless night I’ve given you.”

“Those were different they were-“ He stops as the lightening lights up the room, followed by a loud clap of thunder, and Dazai pulls him against him even more, as if he could shield him from the noise.

“Life or death.” Chuuya finally finishes.

“Doesn’t matter.” Is all Dazai says.

Despite knowing how pointless it was to argue with Dazai in this, he tries anyway.

“It does matter, you should sleep.” Right after saying this however, he takes the remote out of Dazai’s hands.

If they’re gonna watch something, it’s not gonna be some crappy movie Dazai picks.

The brunette smirks, knowing he’s won. “I can’t sleep anyways.”

It wasn’t a complete lie, he probably wouldn’t be able to sleep knowing his darling Chibi was scared.

“You’re a goddamn idiot.” There was no annoyance at all in Chuuya’s words, in fact, he was actually quite happy Dazai was willing to stay awake just because he was a little scared of something stupid.

Bang!

Maybe a lot scared.

Need Your Help!

I’ve never done this sort of thing before so I’m not sure how to go about it. But I hate having to do this. It’s super sudden and there’s already so much going on around this time of year for a lot of people. But I would appreciate some help with a medical bill. Recently had to get stitches for an injury and now I’m dealing with an over $900 bill that’s due next month.

I’m currently uninsured and unemployed and just barely getting through college on what little financial aid I have. And my family isn’t very keen on helping me with this bill since they’re already putting so much into helping me financially with other things. Thinking about VG!Eddie with one of mine and my dad's favorite songs: "Nobody Wants to Hear Songs Anymore" by Ben Abraham (recommend listening to it first it's got a nice sound and neat little twist that me and my dad laugh about all the time)

Rambling bc I can't leave anything be ever

I'm gonna animate this some day so scene by scene replay as follows:

First two verses are imagined scenarios by Eddie, dreams that are too soon tainted by reality again.

First verse) Eddie as a little kid, laying in bed and making that first wish. An angel does come down, looking like his mom, and he gets a brief moment of being held in her arms. But soon his mom's face falls, and she floats back up into the sky as Eddie scrambles for her to come back. Reality takes over and we see he's clutching a small silver ring, his mom's.

Second verse) An older Eddie, around sophomore year. He writes his song, shedding a few tears along the way. He invites the person - featureless at first - over to the trailer and performs it on his acoustic, all emotion and purity and vulnerability. But as he finishes, his face falls as he sees the person is disinterested. Their features come into focus, as Steve just shakes his head and fades away. Reality comes back, and Eddie's sitting on his bed alone with the book full of lyrics. Angrily, he snaps it shut and holds it close to his chest.

Third verse, first two lines) Eddie's fight with the bats. He stands tall but is inevitably taken down, landing straight into Dustin's lap. He struggles to breathe, but still gives Dustin one last smile. As he dies, he sinks down into the ground, floating lifeless in that mind void beneath the water. His features shift into place, wings and claws and tail and black skin.

Last three lines) Eddie wakes up, pleading for freedom. He thrashes and fights the water, but keeps getting pulled down. Flashes of moments throughout the story play around him, but he keeps pushing through. Until one freezes him solid, so loud and jolting and painful that Eddie gives up completely. A black solid muzzle with chains wrap around his mouth and pull him further into the water, and he just goes with it.

Fourth verse) Set near the latter half of Vecna's Generals storyline. The Imprisoned in their cave, all watching Eddie with varying levels of concern. He's sickly looking, laying down in a curled up ball facing the rock wall. Chrissy sits next to him, trying to provide comfort by rubbing his shoulder, but she knows it's not working. Eddie sings this last verse to himself in tears, completely dejected and tired, giving up.

when daenerys was a child, she would often hold her own hand as a self-comfort mechanism because there was no one there to comfort her, and for her whole life, leading up to her marriage to drogo (and for some time afterward), she was afraid. even prior to the eviction from ser willem darry's estate, she was frightened by viserys' paranoid whispers about ruthless assassins and the usurper's dogs coming after them. so, daenerys developed the coping mechanism of holding her own hand, whether she was standing or sitting or curled up, awaiting sleep. often, it manifested as her clasping her fingers together before her, locking them on her lap, or weaving them together beneath a cheek/against her lips/atop her tummy (to release tension before falling asleep). this coping mechanism persisted for most of her life . . . up until she began feeling more established in her sense of comfort/sense of self among the dothraki. she still does it occasionally before sleeping, clasping her hands together and resting her cheek on top of them, but that isn’t necessarily from fear. instead, it arises from the need for comfort . . . for salvation from the immense loneliness.

I know some of classicsblr dislikes the way Madeline Miller modernized the Illiad for Song of Achilles but I loved Circe and I'm really liking this one so far
