This may be largely projection (and I don't remember if this has been mentioned in the books) but I feel like Artemis leans toward the Late Romantic era of music in his tastes. While he appreciates the structure of the Classical Era and the history of the Baroque era, he strikes me as a Romantic.

I thiiiink it was mentioned in one of the books that he favors the impressionist era of art? Which also feeds into my idea that he is a romanticist at heart.

I have a minor headcanon that Nick Lightbearer is actually extremely musically gifted when it comes to a variety of instruments. He just prefers the guitar/rock music.

He casually mentions one day that he can play violin just as well. Someone challenges him on it. He takes up the challenge, gets his hands on a violin, and immediately starts in with THIS.

When asked where the HELL he learned how to play THAT, he merely shrugs and says it's just something he picked up like it's no big deal.

i have a lot of unkind words to say about harpsichords in modern music. how often people use them to seem Sophisticated or w/e but stay totally incurious about what makes baroque music interesting (and what makes so much of it uninteresting). so they end up just writing boring boring music but congratulate themselves that it sounds a bit like classical music so it counts.
