We can still make rocket engines tho, like we can't make the Rockedyne F-1 anymore for a variety of reasons including it's wicked outdated by this point, particularly since the fall of the soviet union introduced staged combustion to western engineering techniques, but it isn't some great tragedy that we can't make that particular rocket engine tbqh, we can still make rocket engines.

Standing tall. The Saturn V rocket stands at Launch Pad 39A in preparation for Apollo 11, July 1969. The 363-foot tall rocket was flown between 1967-73. It launched 9 crewed flights to the moon & also Skylab, the 1st 🇺🇸 space station. As of this date, it remains the only rocket to carry humans beyond low earth orbit.

The 55th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Landing on the Moon

The 55th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Landing on the Moon by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center Via Flickr: In July 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin completed humanity’s first landing on the Moon. They fulfilled President John F. Kennedy’s national goal, set in May 1961, to land a man on the Moon and return him safely to the Earth before the end of the decade. Fifty-five years ago, July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. In this image, Buzz Aldren stands near a strut from the Lunar Lander as Neil Armstrong works the camera.
