So I was watching a video of all face models used for the MK1 characters, the one for SubZero/ BiHan is apparently a Japanese Tiktoker named Satoyu (aka Ohios Final Boss). Now there’s a debate on the validity of this, and most likely it isn’t true, but I still can’t unsee it!

What modern clothing/style do you see bi han wearing?

Hi! Sorry it took me so long to respond to this ask! Frankly, I wasn't quite sure how to best answer it as I don't know much about fashion and I haven't really given that question much thought before.

In my opinion, the way Bi-Han's face model Satoyu dresses actually comes quite close to how I picture Bi-Han would dress in modern Earthrealm too.

Here are some examples:

Personally, I think Bi-Han's style would be very formal, polished and elegant. You would rarely see him in short sleeved shirts or sweatpants unless it's during workout/training.

Most of the time, he would wear button-up shirts in usually darker colors like marine blue, black, dark grey or burgundy paired with dress pants in either black or a dark navy blue. For warmer weather, he would roll his sleeves up and have one or two of the top buttons undone. I can also see him wearing long coats and perhaps turtleneck sweaters in winter, though I doubt he'd dress all that differently for colder seasons since he's a cryomancer and the cold doesn't bother him.

For formal events, Bi-Han would wear a classic black suit and tie combo, nothing too fancy, but always effortlessly elegant. He doesn't usually accessorize much, doesn't wear jewelry etc., but might wear a watch or ring for occasions that require formal attire.

I'd say his style can be best described as somewhere between formal and smart casual.

A Surprising Find!

I often dig through the internet to find information that can fill voids in knowledge (especially for the Sister’s tab) and today revealed a surprising nugget of information! Former geiko Kikue (菊栄) of Kamishichiken owns a restaurant now, and on her page she happened to upload an image from the early 2000s that show the sashigami of Katsuya, Katsue, Umeha, and Satoyu for their misedashi. What’s interesting is that the onesan for both Katsuya and Katsue are noted, and it’s none other than the legendary Katsukiyo! We know that Katsukiyo was onesan to Daimonji girls in the 1970s and 1980s, but no one knew that she was still performing that role as recently as 2003. This is a great find and I hope that this can help to piece together more links in the future ^^

Maiko Katsuya, Katsue, and Satoyu with different kanzashi in June 2005 by Tahanala on Flickr. Green willow with red, white or pink flowers and hydrangea are the more common June kanzashi motifs, but Satoyu wears a motif I’ve never seen before: green gingko leaves. Normally gingko leaves (in orange and yellow) are a November motif. Other kanzashi motifs for June include raindrops, water, and umbrellas as June is the start of rainy season in Kyoto
