The question has surfaced before. Though she's been spared the hounding of concerned relatives thus far seeing as there's her unmarried brother past the age of thirty on whom to offload the heat - she's certainly still been made to consider in some capacity, now and again, with what kind of person she might end up spending the rest of her life. Tang Sanyue has always known and been able to articulate exactly what she wanted, incredibly stubborn from a young age and quite capable of persuasion at length. And so it is perhaps uncharacteristic, that she had as of yet no detailed thoughts on this particular matter - and so one day's answer varied from the next.

There isn't a type, a metric that particularly interested her - and each would-be matchmaker left confused and blindsided in its wake. Through it all she hardly stopped to concern herself, unhurried and unbothered. It isn't that she means to be blithe, or even that she finds the idea of sitting down and imagining a perfect vision of a future tedious - only that she deems setting a strict criteria to be superfluous. Such a thing can hardly ever happen as one expects anyhow.

And Sylus certainly fits this assessment, by most accounts.

It's unusual, for her. He's certainly charming - but it's generally agreed upon by those who know her that she's a sensible young woman, and a sensible young woman would've heard alarm bells in her head from the very first moment. A sensible young woman did not steal away regularly in the middle of the night with a man who proved just as bloody and dangerous as his wanted posters imply - which is to say, as a development in her quiet little life, he'd been unforeseen, entirely unpredictable even to her own open mind, the last person she might have dreamt up for herself once upon a time.

She does so like being right.

But fearlessness is something born out of capacity, after all - during their first, less than auspicious meeting, Tang Sanyue thought perhaps overly confidently that on her ground, her odds were low but not impossible should it come down to a fight. More problematic had been the patient her hands were busy with in that moment - but comically in retrospect, when she had looked up mid-suture to meet crimson eyes that night, her first and instinctive reaction hadn't been fight or flight.

Rather, it was the unusual and unfounded daring - an intuition that she's already won the gamble - that had her ordering him out if he's dead set on undoing her work, since his business is no reason to tarnish the credibility of hers. The same unfounded daring that had her casually and increasingly familiarly needling him into position every time after that he'd presented himself to her to be worked upon at the clinic. The same unfounded daring that made her open the door before she even passes the whole of it for consideration through her brain when he has no reason to be at her front step other than to see her.

Out of the blue, he appears, and out of the blue, she decides on him.

It reminds her a little of a dance, a push and pull that draws them closer, closer. It's interesting how it seems to her that she always leaps a little too fast, agrees a little too soon, like by instinct and intuition her heart was made up.

She doesn't know if there are words to describe the reasons behind it. Only that she dares to sink into natural familiarity - to present a lollipop, a promise of dinner, a gentle scolding, a rap on the wrist - and Sylus dares to play along. Only that he dares to hold out his hand for her, looking directly with the faint amusement and challenge that seems to always glimmer in his eyes - the barrier between them long crossed, left behind - and she dares to take the silent invitation.

Or maybe, fate is a funny thing. It may be as simple as that.

There are idle days when she has a lazy hour or two to think about this, secretly awake after he tucks her up for a mandatory nap after she overdoes it at her night job. She may not be able to sneak away with her warden right next to her, but she's perfectly able to squint at the window and watch the glimmers of dust caught in the slanting afternoon sun. The niggling thought unable to leave her alone before she manages to turn it inside out. She could not have imagined him, and yet he expands and fills and takes over nevertheless. He takes up the space beside her as if he had always been the secret answer she had written down and merely covered up, hidden away until the moment of the reveal. She's resistant to overanalyzing something that doesn't need fixing, but it is curious and new to her.

And, Tang Sanyue knows - her grandfather asks difficult questions. When it comes time for him to meet her family, there will be a 'why,' after a scrutinizing once over, a question she'll finally have to give a satisfactory answer for. It does not, of course, occur to her in this moment that the trajectory of her course has irrevocably shifted to become a universal timeline in which Sylus is nearing permanence as a fixture in her life and she's taking him home, nor does it occur to her that she's already dedicating her tricks to making sure it goes well, her plots tinged with protectiveness. That even she, so avidly against overthinking, has fallen into the details, jumped the gun again.

Rather, she considers continuously, seriously - is it that she likes the unpredictable? In a pathology, in life - in him? Or, is it only that she has simply decided to trust him first?

He'd been magnetic from the start, yet contrarily reassuring, a paradoxical state that made her feel safe to go beyond simply being relaxed and fall straight into living a little dangerously. Maybe she trusts him before she really knows why - but it's never been unwarranted. She supposes in a way he did the same with her, and one day she'll get curious enough to wonder if he ever thought so much about it. But it's nice, when her head is so full, to rest her cheek against his arm and actually drift off, knowing that when she wakes up, it will be to the even breaths in whose soundtrack she had dreamed.

For every moment they spent being less than ordinary, there is also this. Him patiently pulling her from her papers and half-finished energy drinks. Wrapping her back into the cocoon when she inevitably overheats and kicks off the blanket only to become cold again in the middle of the night. The way his face relaxes and softens and smooths out from its usual decisive expressiveness in the event she wakes first and steals a few unnoticed minutes to trace the shapes of his features with her gaze. The smell of eggs in the morning - or at night, or whenever. Walking to the market at sunset and piling all the fruit from her haul into his arms with a grin and then having to roll her eyes back when he flexes said arms and looks at her in the particular way that she knows to be making his point. Getting wildly distracted in the kitchen.

The way she always feels courageous - even more than usual - in his presence.

She jokes more than once while stitching him up or scolding him to keep healthier hours that she likes that he behaves so well. But really, it's that in movement and in stillness, in the day or at night, whether it's bullets and bloodstains on the carpet or the warm glow of the entryway lights and the smell of coffee - Sylus never fails to meet her.

So, maybe, the question is wrong and it isn't "why." Maybe the answer she has turned over in her mind again and again is very simple when considered on its own: he will always give her the courage to take his hand, in any context and at any time, so - how can she not, without hesitation, every time?

(It isn't so unusual after all, she decides in the end.)

Ever since I saw your ask on the mini series/one shots you were planning on making in the future, I saw one of them which suggested a potential one shot (or mini series) of a possible “No Curses AU”. I loved the idea so much that my mind just had to mess around and use my free time just to think of how the AU would look like in a world without curses. I swear, I didn’t have to waste my days like that for thinking about this idea so extensively and yet, here I am! This is just my own ideas on the AU and I thought I should share it with you since you were the one who inspired me to make my own “No Curses AU”.

So imagine this:

A “No Curses AU” where Yuji and Sukuna are twins (Sukuna’s the older brother). Their mother died during the birth process (I wonder how 👀) leaving their father and grandfather to take care of them until the father died not too long after from unaliving himself because of the tragedy of losing his wife. Ever since then, Yuji and Sukuna have been raised by their grandpa. Sukuna met Hime at night when they were both kids: he was taking a walk to get his mind off of things when he found Hime running away from some older drunk guys. She was annoying him so he beat up the drunk men and tried leaving but she stuck by him (Idk about u, but I’m getting some Sukuna and Shisui vibes from this 👀). She was all alone at night because she thought she could sneak away from her father when he’d be sleeping. Ever since then, Sukuna grew to like endure her staying by his side. (Hime’s parents are Sanyu and Susanoo in this btw). They used to go to the same school (with Yuji).

When the three of them turned 15, Yuji and Sukuna’s grandpa died in the hospital which left the twins a bit lost on where they should go right now (Yuji was saddened by their grandpa’s passing while Sukuna felt indifferent but did feel some kind of respect for the old man. Hime was there with the two to support them.)

Not long after that however, Hime decided to help the two twins into enrolling them to the new school she was going to be in: Tokyo Jujutsu High. After some pestering and begging from Susanoo, he begrudgingly recommended Yuji and Sukuna to the higher-ups to which they got accepted.

Now, they both attend Tokyo Jujutsu High where it’s a school for either elites, students that come from traditional old families, people with unique talents, people who worked hard to get there, or it’s either all of the above or one of them. As you can see, the system for enrolment is pretty unfair for some since others can simply be applied for being born in the right family while others have to work hard to get there. This creates discrimination and separates a lot of groups together.

Just like in the original universe, Jujutsu High is a place for the community and provides mediation, general support, education, and shelter. The buildings also visually are the same so nothing about the looks of the school has been altered. It’s location is also where it should be: it’s well hidden on Tokyo's outskirts, far and high in the mountains since it’s so exclusive.

The uniform system is the same as in the original universe as well: you can customize your uniform however you’d like by sending a request paper to the school, regarding them of how you’d like your uniform to look like for your satisfaction.

Tokyo Jujutsu High

The 1st year students are Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji Itadori, Nobara Kugisaki, Junpei Yoshino, and Hana Kurusu.

Megumi Fushiguro has been enrolled for his ancestral traditional roots.

Yuji Itadori got enrolled for his physique and inhuman stamina. He might become a professional runner.

Nobara Kugisaki for working hard with her grades in the countryside.

Junpei Yoshino for being recommended by Yuji. He aims to become a movie critic.

Hana Kurusu for mastering some music instruments. She wants to be a professional musician or even a conductor someday.

The 2nd year students are Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, Yuta Okkotsu, Sukuna Itadori, Mizuhime Uchiumi, Panda, and Uraume.

Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, Mizuhime Uchiumi, and Yuta Okkotsu have been enrolled for their ancestral traditional roots and individual talents. (The ones between these four who got recognized for their talents were Maki for mastering weapons, and Mizuhime for her impeccable swimming.)

Sukuna has been enrolled for his immense strength and intelligence. His future is looking….quite interesting (so fucking dark omg what-)

Uraume has been enrolled for their excellent cooking skills. Naturally, they are aiming to become a five star chef.

Panda is actually an AI that took the form of a panda. He’s mostly seen on a movable average-sized screen. His appearance has been based off of one of Yaga���s dolls. He was made to learn more about the potential of artificial intelligence.

(I really didn’t wanna exclude Panda from this since he’s one of my favourites so I had to improvise lol. Also, Toge can’t speak in this au. He just interacts with writing on paper or uses sign language for people like Megumi who know how to understand it.)

The 3rd year students are Kinji Hakari, Kirara Hoshi, Hajime Kashimo, Choso, Haruta Shigemo, and Yorozu.

Kinji Hakari got enrolled for his talent in dancing. He’ll be a professional dancer.

Kirara Hoshi got enrolled for being an amazing fashion designer and stylist.

Hajime Kashimo and Choso have been enrolled for their ancestral traditional roots.

Haruta Shigemo has been enrolled for….being lucky.

Yorozu has been enrolled for her intelligence (albeit a very stubborn one) and her immense knowledge for insects and how she plans on using them for the future.

(She’s a nudist but the school strictly, and understandably, doesn’t allow her to be naked so she’s forced to wear the basic jjk uniform *the same one Nobara wears*. She only wears the white shirt and skirt though. She won’t allow anything else. Yes, that means she walks around barefoot even during winter 💀.)

Since the students have different talents and projects they’d like to engage in, the school has teachers who help them sharpen up their skills in order to use what they have for the future.

All of the teachers have been hand selected by the higher-ups above Yaga (which is why the teachers are all past students but Yaga doesn’t complain about that. It leaves him less trouble to explain how the school works compared to if the higher-ups did in fact hire teachers who have never been students here before lol).

Some students, depending on what they’re good at, have managers to help them deal with what they’d like to do for the future. The student can choose the manager they’d like since they’ll stick with them for their whole school years.

(*the managers used to be students who learned how to specifically become managers for other future students*)

The principal for Tokyo Jujutsu High is Masamichi Yaga (passionate doll and puppet maker).

The teachers for Tokyo Jujutsu High are:

Satoru Gojo (professional model) teaches the 1st year students.

Atsuya Kusakabe (detective) teaches the 2nd year students.

Nanami Kento (business man) teaches the 3rd year students.

Kiyotaka Ijichi (manager)

Akari Nitta (manager)

Yu Haibara (manager)

Takuma Ino (side manager)

Shoko Ieiri (doctor) takes care of the students if they have severe or even minor injuries.

Kyoto Jujutsu High

The 1st year students are Arata Nitta, Ranta Zenin, Rin Amai, Remi, and Iori Hazenoki.

Arata Nitta got enrolled for his impressive coordination and teamwork. He’d like to become a manager for Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Ranta Zenin got enrolled for his ancestral traditional roots.

Rin Amai got enrolled for his gambling games. He’s likely turn out to become a game maker.

Remi got enrolled for her beauty model pictures she took. She’s learning to become an influencer.

Iori Hazenoki got enrolled for boxing. He aims to become a professional boxer in a ring.

The 2nd year students are Mai Zenin, Kokichi Muta, Kasumi Miwa, Noritoshi Kamo, Aoi Todo, and Momo Nishimiya.

Mai Zenin, and Noritoshi Kamo have been enrolled for their ancestral traditional roots.

Kokichi Muta has been enrolled for his robotic engineering.

Aoi Todo has been enrolled for his workouts and trainings.

Momo Nishimiya and Kasumi Miwa have….worked A LOT to get here.

The 3rd year students are Naoya Zenin, Takako Uro, Ryu Ishigori, and Charles Bernard.

Naoya Zenin has been enrolled for his ancestral traditional roots.

Takako Uro has been enrolled for modelling. She has the looks and body for it.

Ryu Ishigori has been enrolled for his sweet tongue and aims to become a professional taster.

Charles Bernard has been enrolled for his art. He’s aiming to become a mangaka.

The principal for Kyoto Jujutsu High is Yoshinobu Gakuganji (perfects in electric guitar music).

The teachers for Kyoto Jujutsu High are:

Mei Mei (freelancer) teaches the 1st year students.

Utahime Iori (song and poetry writer) teaches the 2nd year students.

Yuki Tsukumo (explorer) teaches the 3rd year students.

As for the relationships in this au, GOD DAMN THERE’S SO MUCH DRAMA-

For one, Sukuna and Yuji DO NOT get along with each other. Since they’re twins and all, people generally assume that they get along very well, when in reality they can’t stand one another. While Yuji has great friends like Megumi, Nobara, Junpei, Hana, and the rest of the 2nd year students, Sukuna doesn’t have any friends and is perfectly satisfied without the need to have some. The only one who he usually hangs around or becomes chattier than usual with is with Hime. Mizuhime is Sukuna’s childhood (and only) friend (who he also somehow convinced after junior school that they should be ‘friends with benefits’ to which Hime surprisingly agreed). She’s the only exception and Sukuna plans on keeping it like that forever. When she’s around other students, Sukuna just boredly entertains himself to pass the time or just listens from one ear to what Hime’s talking about with the others. He also only talks to other people if he has to or if he’s looking to get something from them. Another exception to his private circle, is Uraume. They are exceptional at cooking so Sukuna usually keeps them around even when Hime’s there. Uraume doesn’t mind cooking for Sukuna when they want to since they admire the guy. In short, Yuji’s friend group consists of the 1st year students and the 2nd year students, while Sukuna’s “friend” group consists of Hime and Uraume.

Of course, just like Tsunami and Bloodflood, the yandere circle does not change so Hime will STILL have a hard time dealing with the suitors even if this is a “No Curses AU” since they’ll all attend her school 💀

Except that there are some additional relationships here and there:

1. Hana is into Megumi but Megumi is into Yuji and Hime.

2. Sukuna and Yuta are into Hime but they’re both in the same class (rip Hime….)

3. Yorozu is into Sukuna but Sukuna is into Hime.

4. Yuji has a secret crush on Hime but Sukuna is aware of it. He loves to hurt him by having some fun with Hime since she and him are “friends with benefits” now. (But as much as Sukuna keeps saying that about his and Hime’s relationship, he actually does have deep feelings regarding her and doesn’t just see their relationship as a way to mess around.)

5. Uraume deeply respects Sukuna but often wonders why he likes having Hime around.

6. Gojo is into Hime and Geto (Geto quit any connection to the school) but since Geto isn’t in the school with him anymore and doesn’t teach like him, Gojo gets to see Hime more 💀

7. Choso and Hajime are into Hime but they’re both in the same class…. (rip Choso 😭)

So yeah, Hime….Good luck 👹

your entire au gives me such kdrama vibes, idk how to put it. it lowkey reminds me of boys over flowers with poor girl (sukuna) getting sent to an extremely elite school cuz she helped out a rich kid (mizuhime). the clear divide between the school elites and the ones who got into the school through hard work alone.... every time i think of a no curse AU, i ALWAYS imagine sukuna as the poor dude, rags to richest guy 😂 like, he starts out poor and looked down on but through sheer grit (and violence) he climbs up until HE'S at the top of the hierarchy and you've covered that perfectly 😩👌

also poor jona 😭 he keeps catching strays … first suguru expects the best of him and gets annoyed whenever he displays normal! behaviour! of! a child! then everyone followed suit and caused him to feel lonely leading him to be immensely attached to his mama which is what suguru is annoyed about in the first place but he refuses to stop the cycle 😭 then a horrible nanny left him to drown nearly killing him and leaving yua despaired beyond belief leading to the birth of sanyu (which I was wondering if you’ll explore it later on? like in-between the spare and nightmares) and then he faced a horrible curse which probably traumatised him and all his daddy cared about was pounding his mommy’s ass and patching up his wound …. 😔😔 but good for yua for being an AMAZING mother and risking suguru’s wrath just to ensure the well-being of her children … love it sm that’s why she’s the main character!!!! /j

I'm so happy you're enjoying the series! I know updates to it are slow, but I plan to release another multi chapter FES fic sometime this year. As for sending more asks, feel free to do so, because I love getting into the logistics and character analysis for the fics I write.

All the upcoming fics in the series will explore family dynamics. Since Yua is the MC, it'd largely be centered on how everyone interacts with her. Things with Suguru will remain tense, and her relationship with the twins will be up and down. And yes, I imagine they are adopted at that point, which will be made clear.

The way the twins treat Jona strains their relationship with Yua, and increases her resentment toward Suguru. He's the root of all evil to her, and she's aware that the girls will do anything to please him, evident when they left her to fend for herself in FES. Yua's feelings toward them are conflicted, as she knows they're impressionable, traumatized children, but their actions have caused harm. First to Yua, and now to Jona.

Speaking of Jona, the nanny incident will definitely stick with him, despite his young age. As is what happens in Nightmares, which will be revised to better match with Spare. Both will lead him to cling to Yua, but also to be a protective big brother. His brother, (and any future siblings), and Yua will become the center of his world. As he gets older, he'd be willing to make sacrifices for them, i.e. willingly training with Suguru. Time jumps will happen between fics, so we'll get to see Jona evolve.

None of Yua's pregnancies were good news to her, but each child she births she loves. Moreover, she's aware her kids are the best way to get back at Suguru, as having them devoted to her undercuts one of his motivations for heirs: blind loyalty. Unlike Suguru, she doesn't see her kids as pawns, or even extensions of herself, but as their own person who need protection. Yet, some pettiness is present in her parenting, and making sure her children dislike their father is very important to her.

Pre H-Era

Project Sigma was one of the secret, experimental projects created, developed and run by Chuohku's Science and Research & Development Departments.

The project was codenamed, 'Project: Living Dolls'.

The project involved several young children (mainly those who were 12 or 13) being either kidnapped or sold to Chuohku by their parents or members of their immediate family in exchange for monetary gain, favors, payment for past debts, or forgivingness for crimes.

Once placed in Chuohku's care, the children were placed in something similar to boot camp, where they were trained, tutored, and experimented on. Their former names were erased and replaced with nothing more than a series of numbers.

A year or so once their training was over, the children were soon pitted against each other in mortal combat, where they would they use their resources, ingenuity and cunning to emerge victorious. The last one remaining would be given their freedom from Chuohku.

This, of course, was a lie, as the victor was just used for more experiments, including those regarding not only the True Hypnosis Mic, but also for cruel and heinous missions that they were sent on, which they could not recall due to the experiments erasing their memories.

One of these missions included the killing of the subject's own family.

The experiment proved to be a phenomenal success.

H Era Year X

The experimental subject, "Sanyu Inouye", a.k.a. "Subject X" somehow escapes captivity.

Efforts are made to recapture "Subject X", but all have proved ineffective.

The project is unable to be revived due to data and information on it being erased due to interference from former Chuohku scientist, "Kotono Ohara".

Subject is believed to be hiding somewhere in Fukuoka. Observation will continue on the subject in hopes of retrieval.

top 5 books! ✨

I should have predicted that this would come and bite me in the ass.

This is difficult because I've got the mind of a fruit fly and I also don't have my laptop on me. But OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD (and subject to change in a month), in no particular order.

1. Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon: I used to read SK a lot. I used to follow her Dark Hunter series like wild. To the point that two books I own are part of her series because an old friend and one of my cousins knew how into it I was. It's funny because I don't like vampires. I've reread a number of her books. And arguably, there are probably characters I like more than Styxx / romances I enjoyed more than his.

However, Styxx is my baby? ROFL. I like the development of his character, I like how the series shows us scenes and other characters from his perspective. I like the (often unexpected) relationships he gains. And I'm such a sucker for his type of character finding love as well as acceptance. (Also brothers!! *sobs*)

2. Great Illustrated Fairy Tales - Adapted by Rochelle Larkin & Illustrated by Shelley Austin: I actually haven't read this in a long fucking time. But it used to be one of my FAVORITE books (along with a book of nursery rhymes/riddles as well as an illustrated children's bible) as a kid. Aka #formative (or more indulged an interest/obsession I already had werwqas).

3. A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole: I don't know if this is one of my top five favorite books, or it's just my fave book of an author I really enjoy. But they're my favorite couple of hers (outside of Shanti and Sanyu, who are ... ugh need to go reread their book. goodbye!). She hit a lot of beats that were different from the typical royal falls for the non-royal.

The hero is the heart of gold cliché~~ but a lot of that comes from the fact that he was a soft, emotional kid and is genuinely sensitive. He's learned to use that as a shield and a weapon. Our heroine is shy and clever who also has a huge heart (more apparent) and a spine of steel (less apparent ... at first). She really learns to voice herself after being under her father's thumb. Like all Alyssa Cole books she deals with beats you don't often see in romances (or I hadn't, but am realizing isn't so rare/seeing more of now). Like, you'll see things like loss and self-esteem growth in stories. But I like how she touches on things like the struggles/effects of emotional abuse, grief, how we can hurt the people we love even when we mean well, and how it's okay to cut off the people we love once we understand that they never truly meant well.

4. The Pursuit Of ... by Courtney Milan: I know. I know. Don't at me. This is a story about a black man and his white british love interest during the American Revolution. I know. I don't care. John and Henry make me so soft. They are soft together. I love them as characters. I enjoy their growth together. I love how they fall into each other. It hit my 'I don't force you to be better, you're better because I challenge you / because you want to be what I deserve'. And this does that.

I love how Henry makes John smile and inserts much needed whimsy, levity into his life. I love how John doesn't ever dismiss Henry. I love how they listen to and hear each other. I could go on. But. Then it would be longer than the book (hur hur hur).

5. Falling Up by Shel Silverstein: I really wanted to put a childhood fave here. I wobbled between Judy Blume and E.B. White and Little Women/Little Men. But falling up wins because it definitely helped cultivate my love of poetry, it was a favorite book I shared with my little brother (who isn't a big reader, but Shel's stuff was one who bonded over), and who just doesn't enjoy his shit? It has been so long since I've read this tho, so I'm definitely going to check it out of the library. (Thanks for the opportunity to walk down memory lane!).
