Taking A Walk
“Whoa, slow down, Pete!” Sam cried, pulling with all his might on the dog’s leash. Pete, a great big mastiff, lunged and strained towards the dog park, eyes lit with frenzied excitement. Sam’s neighbor had not been kidding when she had said that Pete was not walked enough. He acted as though he hadn’t seen the light of day for weeks. At last, they made it into the park, and Pete was allowed off the leash so he could race around the enclosed grassy area.
With a sigh of relief, Sam leant back against the chain-link fence. “You might have helped,” he panted in annoyance to Kye, who stood next to him like a dark cloud. He wore his usual black clothes, and his face was full of doom and gloom. He glared at Sam.
“And why did you bring me along? I’m not a dog that needs walking,” Kye scowled.
Sam groaned. This again. Sam had only wanted to help out their neighbor, who had a big work project this week and needed someone to walk her dog, or else he would never get out. As Kye’s caretaker, the only way Sam could do that was to have the vampire go with him. Kye, however, hated walking. He hated being outside unless there was good reason to, and in his mind, walking a dog was not good enough. As a result, he had sulked all morning before they left and glared at Sam’s back all the way to the park.
“Because we have to be together, remember?” Sam replied irritably. “And it wouldn’t hurt you to think about other people, sometimes, you know? Ms. Ginger really needed our help.”
“She could have hired someone else to walk her dog. Aren’t there professionals that do that kind of thing?” Kye grumbled.
“Look, you need to get out too,” Sam argued. “Even vampires can’t just stay cooped up in the house forever. That would be as bad as if you were stuck in the Ministry,” Sam said, then immediately regretted having brought it up.
Kye glanced at Sam, then hunched his shoulders and looked away. “Yeah, I guess,” he mumbled. There was an awkward silence.
“Sam, is that you?” a girl’s voice suddenly spoke. Sam turned in surprise, to see a girl with long brown hair walking up to him, a small brown dog trotting along next to her.
“Lily?” he said in surprise. He hardly recognized her, since she had always worn her hair up in pigtails in middle school, but the more he looked, the more certain he was it was one of his school friends.
“Fancy meeting you here!” Lily exclaimed. “What are you doing here? Did you get a dog?”
Sam shook his head. “No, we were just helping to walk our neighbor’s dog,” he explained, motioning to Pete, who was still romping around in the grass.
Lily cocked her head. “We?” she queried.
Gesturing to Kye, Sam said, “This is Kye, my adopted brother. Kye, this is Lily. We were friends back when I was in public school.”
Kye nodded to her uncomfortably. “I had no idea you had adopted a brother,” Lily said in surprise.
“Well, it’s only been in the last year,” Sam said.
“I see,” Lily said. Pete suddenly ran up, a stick in his mouth, and placed his paws on Kye’s legs, looking up at the boy with puppy dog eyes. Kye scowled, but took the stick and threw it. Both Pete and Lily’s dog shot after it, racing to be the first one to retrieve the stick.
“How are you doing, Sam? It feels like it’s been so long since I saw you. You should have reached out, you’re still in the same city even if you’ve switched to homeschool,” Lily commented.
“Oh, err, I guess I got busy. Sorry,” Sam apologized.
Lily laughed. “No worries! I just thought it might be fun to get together again sometime. Are you enjoying homeschool?” she asked.
“Yeah, it’s not bad,” Sam said. “How is everybody else?”
They stayed at the park a while, Sam and Lily catching up, while Kye threw sticks for the dogs and listened. A couple times, Lily tried to include him in the conversation, but Kye often answered with short sentences and didn’t seem to want to engage. Sam apologized, saying that Kye was rather shy. Lily did not seem to take offense, though.
“Well, I should get on home,” Lily finally said. “Here, boy!” she called, her little dog running over to her. “Stay in touch, okay?” she called, waving goodbye and leaving.
Sam waved goodbye, and he and Kye collected Pete and headed home. When they had almost reached their house, Kye asked, “Sam, do you miss going to school?”
“I guess I do somewhat,” Sam answered, puzzled. “I mean, I do miss my friends sometimes. And it was nice having an actual teacher there. Why do you ask?”
Kye shrugged and muttered, “Never mind.” Sam raised an eyebrow, but didn’t press further. Was Kye upset about Sam talking to a friend from school? No, why would that bother him? Or did it have something to do with what Sam had said about being cooped up? He would have to ask Kye more later.
At dinner, when they had almost finished eating, Kye suddenly said, “I want to go to school.” Sam’s spoon fell to the table with a clatter, and he gaped at Kye. His mother looked up from her stew in surprise.
“What do you mean, Kye?” she asked.
Kye shifted in his seat uncomfortably. “I want to go to public school, not homeschool. I want to...see teachers and make...friends,” he said hesitantly.
Mother smiled. “Well, I don’t see a reason to not go, as long as you’re sure you’re ready. We can talk with Mr. Steven and see what he thinks. Summer break will be coming soon, and if we decide to put you both in public school again, we could register you for the next year,” she said. Kye nodded.
Later that evening, as both boys prepared for bed, Sam turned to Kye and asked, “Kye, I’m sorry about what I said earlier today. I didn’t mean to make you feel bad about always staying home. You don’t have to go to school just because of that,” he said.
Kye shook his head. “No, you were right. I haven’t been thinking of other people. I’ve just been thinking of what I want. And I can’t just stay inside all the time, I’ll have to learn eventually how to live outside of the house and how to be around other people. Now’s as good a time as any to start learning,” he responded. “Besides,” he said slowly, “you really did seem to enjoy talking to Lily. Maybe—maybe with your help, even I could make friends.”
Sam smiled and put an arm around his brother. “We’ll both make new friends,” he encouraged.
Kye nodded slowly and murmured, “Yeah. And you know, maybe taking a walk once in a while is not so bad.”

Caregiver Sam Winchester
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam is a cuddly caregiver and no one can convince me otherwise !!
He loves to play peek-a-boo when his kiddo is especially on the small side.
He also uses a plethora of pet names !! “Kiddo” / “Sugar” / “Prince(ss) / Royal” are common ones he uses
Sam is great at cooking and typically will make whatever his kiddo asks for
Of course this does require store trips typically and he will happily make these into a game
“Let’s see who can put on their shoes the fastest!” / “Can you find the bread before I do sugar?” / “Who can carry more bags?”
When he’s cooking he’ll either sit you down on the countertop or nearby with some toys
Once Sam finishes cooking he always comes up and ruffles his kiddos hair before sitting the plate down before them and kissing their head <33
Bedtimes are so fun with him!! Once again it’s turned into a game and he always reads bedtime stories until you fall asleep
And even then he will lay there with you and run his hands through his kiddos hair until he falls asleep as well :)

I started reading Kochab a bit ago and while I'm no where near done I wanted to tell you how gorgeous it is
I keep stopping at every page to zoom in and study all the details, your artwork is absolutely stunning <3 I love the backgrounds, and how you play with the framing and composition, it looks so good !!
And the little animations! Agkkfsdlkf! They are so pretty! You make everything come to life! I want to live in this world!
Also love how you use colors, really makes me feel how warm/cold it is, esp when the warm vibrant oranges begin flooding in after a lot of darker purples n blues, feels so cozy
I'm still in the early phases and dont know Kye or Sonya very well yet, but I just know I'll fall in love (while they do the same w each other>:3)
I think there was more I wanted to talk about but I'm half asleep n can't remember so I'll leave it there. Thank you so much for sharing your work, you clearly put so much into it :]
Thank you so much! this comment is so lovely to receive. thank you for taking the time to appreciate all these little details, this all makes me so happy to hear <3
Tumblr media
thank you! It was watercolor base + digital touching up (for the fine details and also broad color shifts) I really like that medium combo, it feels like I can get the best out of both :)
Tumblr media
thank you so much!! I keep saying it but I've been really blown away by all the support for the comic ending and kickstarter - it's really much more than I'd hoped for. :') <3
Tumblr media
<3 thank you so much for reading!
Tumblr media
thank you!! :') ah that's a broad question! Color is part of how I think about contrast, values, composition, lighting, and mood. I look at a lot of photos and art for reference/inspiration, and try to make myself try new things! I do fall pretty easily into wanting every painting to just be blue/purple and yellow, and I try to avoid doing that too often, haha. I also have to try hard to not let things get muddy, and/or bogged down by realism when stylized or expressive color would work better. A lot of my art is based on lighting or color schemes I've seen in real life and want to try to capture. I've taken Kat Tsai's color class and Sam Nielsen's lighting class, and both really influenced me too! My asks tag might have some more thoughts/resources too.

🥤 and 🧃
From this meme. Thank you!
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
Scenes from @sinvraal’s Kye Shepard series still live rent free in my head a decade later. I highly, highly recommend it.
🧃 ⇢ share some personal lore you never posted about before
I don’t want to get into too much detail because it’s a spoiler for Mezzo, but I will say this: Sam is the only biotic who can perform a biotic charge, because his biotics work differently from basically everyone else. We are going to find out why this is, how it happened, how biotic charge works and why others can’t do it, and it’s really cool.

Hello again, people! This is a continuation of my main AU stuff. This is my AU's Solar Eclipse and Blood Moon! (I don't actually have a Luner in this AU for personal reasons). So basically, Eclipse is the mature one while Blood Moon is the childish one. (BM basically replaces Luner.) ^ ^ I redesigned Eclipse a little bit and changed where I put the heart on Blood Moon (It was on his chest as like a button thing).
So, to explain a little bit about the relationship they have with Sun and Moon.. Sun and Moon are twin brothers, and they have this older brother named Kye or Kill Code. (May explain one day why he changed his name to KC, which, yes, is inspired by SAMS.) Anyways, Eclipse is Sun and Moon's nephew, but not really Blood Moon. That's because Eclipse built him, so he wasn't technically born into the family. Sun and Moon do treat Blood Moon like he's their biological nephew too, though, but KC does not acknowledge him as his son. Which, as I post more about this AU, you'll see why that's probably for the better.
(Yes, I am saying the animatronics can have kids. Just go with it, please, because I haven't even found a way to explain that.)
Well, well, I've ranted again. I don't know if anyone actually will read this, but if you wanted a little bit of an explanation on that, you got one! I will be posting some doodles of Sun next, like I said on my last post. I just couldn't wait to share this, lol. They're so cute! >w<

Rescued
“No, please,” Sam pleaded, shuffling backward until his back bumped against the alley wall. He gazed up fearfully at the four thugs in front of him, who were grinning maliciously and cracking their knuckles ominously. He should have known better than to walk the streets at night, but his job after school always had him stay late, and he couldn’t just quit his job. Not when his single mother worked herself to the bone, and they still had barely enough to pay the rent and buy food.
“Don’t worry, little boy, we don’t need to hurt you. We can do this the easy way. Just hand over your money and take us to your mother,” a larger man, who seemed to be the leader of the thugs, said.
Sam’s skin went cold. He swallowed and stammered, “Wh-what do you want with my mother?”
The large man laughed, a chilling and disgusting laugh. “We’ve been watching you, boy. Yer mother’s a beauty, and she don’t have a hubbie, eh? We just want to have some fun with her,” he leered at Sam.
So, these men were stalkers. Unfortunately, it was not that rare in this city full of crime for there to be thugs who would stalk people and take advantage of them, especially if they were poor. And despite their poverty, Sam’s mother was quite beautiful. Sometimes, Sam wished she were more ugly, so that she would not be such a target. Or that they could have lived in a better area of town or even in a different city altogether, where these crimes were not so common.
Fishing in his pocket for his wallet, Sam said, “Please, I’ll give you my money. Just leave my mother out of this.”
The man’s crooked grin turned into a vicious scowl. “Oh, so you want to do this the hard way, eh? You show us where she is, kid, or else we’ll take that face off of you,” he snarled, curling his hand into a fist.
Sam closed his eyes tight, awaiting the blows that were sure to follow. Instead, he heard a chilling voice, “Do you want to know pain?”
Opening his eyes again, Sam saw that the men had turned in surprise to look behind them, at a figure who had just appeared. Sam stared. The figure was a boy, about as tall as Sam and wearing a black shirt and pants. From under his messy black hair, red eyes glared. Not the kind of red when you got pink eye or didn’t get enough sleep, but glowing red. His teeth were bared, showing sharp fangs like a dog’s.
After a stunned moment of silence, the leader scowled and said, “Whatchu want? Stay out of our business.”
The red-eyed boy took a step forward, boring into the men with his murderous gaze. “I said, do you want to know pain?” he snarled.
Glaring back, the leader retorted, “You better get outta here, or else-”
Almost too fast for Sam to register, the boy moved and slammed a fist into the man’s stomach. The man went flying, crashing into one of the walls with a terrible smack. Doubling over in pain, the man coughed, blood splattering the ground. For a moment, the three other men just gaped at their leader in shock. Then one of them stepped forward with fist raised to punch the black-clad boy. The boy, however, swiftly grabbed the man’s arm, flipping and throwing him at the wall as well. In three swift moves, the boy kicked and beat the other men against the wall, leaving them coughing and groaning in pain.
Sam gaped. How could a boy his size and build possibly be this powerful? It was as if the men were weightless, as if the boy were flinging teddies around. No doubt the men had several bad bruises, if not bones broken. Just who was this boy?
Approaching the thugs, the boy snarled, sounding more like a beast than a human. Glancing at the boy’s hand, which he had flexed, Sam tensed. The boy’s nails had become long and sharp, like claws. Though he had guessed at the beginning this boy had a murderous intent, Sam became certain without a doubt that he meant to kill.
Before the boy could reach the men, Sam suddenly stepped in front of them, blocking the boy. The boy paused. “Wait! I know these men were about to do some pretty awful things, but you don’t have to kill them! We can take them to a police station,” Sam pleaded. It wasn’t that he wanted these men to escape punishment, but to kill them seemed too extreme. Especially if they were going to be torn apart by claws and fangs.
The boy stared at Sam in silence for while. But slowly, his red eyes stopped glowing and became more normal, though his irises remained red. At last, he grunted, “Fine.” Sam let out a sigh of relief. The boy glared at the men, however, and warned them, “But no trying to escape, or I’ll tear your faces apart.” Terrified, the men nodded hurriedly. They stumbled to their feet and limped along as Sam led the way to the police station, the other boy walking behind, glaring at their prisoners.
Once they arrived at the police station, it was all a blur to Sam. Now that the danger was over and adrenaline was no longer surging in him, he felt so exhausted he might fall over. They sat him on a bench and put a blanket over him. The police contacted his mother, and they brought him home later. He was vaguely aware of his mother in tears, asking if he was all right, and then putting him straight to bed.
A week passed after this incident. Sam and his mother had just finished their rather meager supper, rice with canned beans and canned carrots, when the buzzer to their two-room apartment rang. Mother and son glanced at each other in confusion. Who could be calling at this hour? Sam’s friends from school surely wouldn’t be out at this hour, nor would they come to this part of town. Going to the door, Sam hesitantly opened it.
A man in a gray suit, holding his hat in one hand, stood at the front door. He bowed his head politely to Sam and asked, “Hello, is this the home of Sam Wenner?”
“Yes, I’m Sam,” Sam said slowly.
“My name is Steven. I’m from the Ministry of Vampire Affairs and would like to talk with you about a possible job opportunity, as well as have you meet your potential client. Would you mind if we came in?” the man asked, looking expectantly inside.
“Job?” Sam repeated, bewildered. He hadn’t been looking for a new job. And what did the man mean by Ministry of Vampire Affairs? Sam had never heard of that ministry, and though he was aware that some cities had vampires, he had nothing to do with them. But seeing that the man must be some sort of government official, Sam opened the door wider and motioned for him to come inside.
The man thanked him. “Come on, Kye,” he said, stepping inside. Behind him, a boy stepped forward, looking warily at the apartment and at Sam. Sam started. It was the same boy who had beat up the thugs, only he looked less intimidating now. He still wore black clothes and his eyes were still red. But he did not have the murderous gaze, nor did he have the same killing aura around him.
Sam’s mother looked up in surprise as the man and Kye entered. She quickly made space at the small kitchen table for them to sit, and she and Sam sat down themselves across from the man and the boy.
“Ma’am, young man, do you know about vampires?” the man, Steven, asked.
“Well, sir, not much. You see, we used to live in Saleburg, until Sam’s father died and I had to get a job here. They didn’t have vampires in Saleburg, so we only heard about them when we moved here,” Sam’s mother replied nervously.
The man stroked his chin. “No, I suppose you wouldn’t have heard about them. Saleburg is quite small. But here in Sharken City we have several. You haven’t heard of the Ministry of Vampire Affairs?” Both Sam and his mother shook their heads. “Well, that’s all right,” Steven said with a friendly smile. “See, the ministry’s job is to ensure the safety of both regular citizens and vampires, and to strive for both to live as normal lives as possible. Every vampire must have a caretaker, someone who is with them almost every hour of the day, to prevent them from getting out of control and biting someone. Newly registered vampires are retained at the Ministry until a suitable caretaker can be found; if one cannot be found after a certain time period, we will unfortunately have to confine them to the Ministry’s accommodations, as it is not safe to let them loose after that point.”
Steven nodded to the boy next to him. “Kye here is almost to that time period. He has tried several caretakers, but all of them have been unsuccessful in preventing him from trying to bite, except through use of force.” Seeing Sam’s uneasy glance at Kye, Steven assured him, “Don’t worry, he has not actually bit anyone, but we always had to physically stop him from doing it. You however,” the man said, leaning towards Sam across the table, “were able to stop him just by talking to him. And you were not even officially his caretaker. I believe that is a sign you would be an excellent fit for Kye.
“Now, it would be a lot of responsibility. You would have to be around Kye all day, would probably have to switch to homeschool instead of public school. We would not advise putting Kye in public school yet, as he has some, err, social issues,” the man said, with a look at Kye. Kye had been staring the whole time at the table, expressionless, but at that he scowled. The man turned back to Sam. “You would of course be paid, as this will be considered a full-time job. Here, this is what we would be willing to pay you,” he said, and passed Sam and his mother a paper that had several figures, one of which was circled in red. They stared. It was three times more than what he and his mother made now, combined.
“You would also be provided with a furnished apartment, close by the Ministry of Vampire Affairs, so we would be close by in case of any emergencies. We will provide Sam with some training the first few weeks, before Kye actually comes to live with you. That should work out perfectly anyway, since I believe there are still a few weeks of school before the summer vacation?” the man said.
Sam nodded. He was speechless. It was all too much. Too much to imagine, having a new home that would undoubtedly be much nicer than this dingy apartment that had mold in the bathrooms and cockroaches in the cupboards. It was too much to imagine the money he would be making and how they wouldn’t have to worry about barely having enough food for the week. Why, his mother might even be able to cut back on her hours at the factory and get more rest and have more time to do housework. This job seemed like a dream come true. But, glancing at Kye, Sam hesitated.
Living with a vampire? How would that even work? What did vampires eat? Would he have to give Kye his blood? Plus, if they were going to have spend all day, every day together, the two boys would have to get along, otherwise it would be a nightmare. “Are you really sure I’m a good fit?” Sam asked slowly. “I mean, it sounds like a big responsibility, and I know next to nothing about vampires…” he said.
The man nodded. “Of course, we aren’t expecting you to make such a big decision at once. Feel free to sleep on it, or take a week if you need. Besides, your mother will also have to agree to it, since Kye would be living with you both,” he said..
“What do you think?” Sam asked his mother.
“Well,” she said slowly, “It would certainly be different having Kye with us. But, he did save Sam and me from those thugs.” She smiled at Kye. “So I think I would be fine with having him live with us. But it’s really up to you, Sam, since you would be the one doing the work.”
That was true, he had saved Sam and his mother. Was that enough reason to have a vampire live with them, though? Sam looked at Kye, who was glancing uncomfortably around the room, looking at anything but Sam and his mother. Perhaps Sam did owe it to him. Hadn’t the man said that Kye was almost to the point that he would be confined to the Ministry? Though Sam didn’t know exactly what that meant, he had a feeling it would not be pleasant. It sounded somewhat like putting a person in prison.
“And, what about Kye? Does he want to stay with us?” Sam asked.
They all looked at Kye, who hunched his shoulders and sank down in his chair, now that all eyes were on him. The man smiled and urged him gently, “Go on, Kye, tell them.”
Staring hard at the floor, the boy murmured, “Yeah, I want you to be my caretaker.”
He glanced anxiously at Sam, his red eyes staring out from underneath long black hair. Something shifted in Sam as he saw them, those eyes filled with fear and longing, a longing to be loved. It was an emotion Sam had felt too, though perhaps in a different way. The longing for his father to hold him and say that he loved his little boy, instead of yelling and hitting Sam and his mother. A longing to be known. A longing to be accepted. Swallowing, Sam turned to the man again. “I would be happy to become Kye’s caretaker,” he said firmly. He cast another glance at Kye and smiled. Slowly, hesitantly, Kye smiled back.

Halloween (1978)
Halloween is a 1978 American independent slasher film directed and scored by John Carpenter, co-written with producer Debra Hill, and starring Jamie Lee Curtis (in her film debut) and Donald Pleasence, with P. J. Soles and Nancy Kyes appearing in supporting roles. The plot centers around a mental patient, Michael Myers, who was committed to a sanatorium for murdering his babysitting teenage sister on Halloween night when he was six years old. Fifteen years later, he escapes and returns to his hometown, where he stalks a female babysitter and her friends, while under pursuit by his psychiatrist.
 Halloween (2007)
Halloween is a 2007 American slasher film written, directed, and produced by Rob Zombie. The film is a remake of the 1978 horror film of the same name and the ninth instalment in the Halloween franchise. The film stars Tyler Mane as the adult Michael Myers, Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Sam Loomis, Scout Taylor-Compton as Laurie Strode, and Daeg Faerch as the young Michael Myers. Rob Zombie's "reimagining" follows the premise of John Carpenter's original, with Michael Myers stalking Laurie Strode and her friends on Halloween night.  Working from Carpenter's advice to "make [the film] his own”, Zombie chose to develop the film as both an origin story and a remake, allowing for more original content than simply re-filming the same scenes. Despite mixed reviews, the film, which cost $15 million to make, went on to gross $80.3 million worldwide in unadjusted U.S. dollars. Zombie followed the film with a sequel, Halloween II, in 2009.
