screaming. Crying. They’re so cute I cannot physically handle it.
It's been a good long while since I made a silly little comic about silly little guys I enjoy!! This was a birthday gift I made for my beloved @quixoticrobotic who's birthday was just yesterday!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I like the idea of Piper & Rabbit seeing a beautiful woman (each other) and trying to have a nice, fancy little date but of course they're both also silly and attract sillies like magnets, so nothing's ever that simple. ^_^
Image Description/Transcript under the cut
Page 1: Piper and Rabbit are sitting at a table with drinks; Piper's is a tall foamy beer, Rabbit's is a thin martini-like drink. Rabbit: Yknow back where-ere I'm from they don't got anything that can get a bot buzzed, let alone drunk. (Well, except that one time…) Piper: Well then you better enjoy it! It's on me, yknow!
Page 2: Close up on Rabbit taking a sip of her drink. Rabbit: You're too ki-kind, Miss Captain Faraday~! Piper (off screen): Just Piper's Fine. Every bot's got the right to enjoy themselves every now and then. Piper (off screen): Now as for me, I'm still reeling from the fact you've gotten to see mammals! Rabbit: Y-yes ma'am! Why, we were so surprised to see ya didn't have any out here. (Made our set about Dr. Doolittle a little confu-fu-fusing!) Piper (off screen): Dora's going to be mighty jealous once I get back to the ship.
Page 3: Rabbit's eyes widden as the shot pans to reveal Hatchworth and the Spine in fake mustaches, hiding behind a nearby table. Piper (off screen): (And uh, speaking of jealous…) Are your band mates back there alright with us meeting up like this?
Page 4: Rabbit turns her head in a fake smile to yell at her brothers, who dive behind the table to hide. Rabbit: Oh that! No they're just being silly g-gooses! Rabbit: HATCHY~! THE SPINE~! Rabbit: Y-You guys shouldn't play spy detec-decktives like that behind my back when a beautiful lady's involved!
Page 5: Rabbit pulls herself across the table to get closer to Piper, knocking over her own chair and drink in the process. Rabbit: My brothers get worried about when I go on dates, that's all! Rabbit: Don't even think about em! Piper: Okay… Rabbit: They wouldn't know a ro-romantic atmosphere if it smothered out all the lights in the room~! The Spine (off screen): Hey! Hatchworth (off screen): No no let her speak.
Page 6: Close up on Piper taking a sip of her drink. Piper: I think it's kinda sweet you got family that cares enough to butt into your business like that. Piper: Me, I was an only child, so I can't really relate. Rabbit (off screen): Oh, Wh-what about your crew? Piper: Oh! Yeah, they're like my family! Been through thick and thin with them.
Page 7: Piper's expression drops as the camera pans to reveal Ivanski and Sally sitting at another nearby table. Rabbit (off screen): G-good to know, cause I was wondering what they were doin back there otherwise~! Piper: Ah. You don't say. Ivanski: Gooooo Captain! Sally: I don't know him.

Percy Jackson comes home from Yancy Academy for the winter break. He's excited to see his mom, excited that for once Gabe is actually gonna be at work (the man likes seeing how many of the temp Christmas staff he can bully into leaving before New Years). Sure the weather has been *horrifcly bad* out of nowhere but, eh. So ,he gets back to the apartment and
There's some guy sitting on the kitchen floor, his back to the kitchen cupboard. He's holding a wad of kitchen roll to his temple, but blood's still seeping through. His clothes are shredded and burnt. He's got Percy's black hair, and seagreen eyes. Sally comes out of her bedroom with one of Gabe's shirts and a pair of his jeans draped over her arm, freezes for a second when she sees Percy, then dumps the clothes at the stranger's side, crosses to the door and wraps her son in the tightest hug of his life and says: "Honey? This is your father."
The blood coming through that paper towel is gold.
#all i could think of this morning was#au where Zeus reacts Even Worse to finding his bolt missing#leading a badly injured Poseidon to flee Olympus- at which point he goes to Sally and Percy because he needs to get them somewhere safe NOW

Anyone noticed that Surge is like... aesthetically derived from Scourge, but her damage and reasons for hating Sonic are way more similar to Fiona?
Kidnapped by a mad scientist (Starline/Robotnik), experimented on in a traumatic fashion (turned into a lightning-powered anti-Sonic/used for the Auto-Automaton prototype), blames Sonic for her situation happening at all (because he didn't kill the villains before they could hurt her/because he didn't come back to save her), and is angry at Sonic for not taking a stronger position against the villains (explicitly/implicitly).
And given how well-received Surge has been, there's a level of "Wow they could've done something like this a while ago if anyone at Archie had seen Fiona as a character rather than a love interest" but honestly I'm mostly just glad they finally did something with the concept of "Person who feels that Sonic is to blame for everything that went wrong in her life and wants to kick his teeth in about it."
#In all honesty I've never liked villain Fiona *because* they bolted her to Scourge and made her into Evil Sally 2#If she became a villain who could challenge Sonic herself and was driven by her desire for vengeance#(so basically Surge)#that would've been fine. A+ no notes#But instead her character becomes ''Scourge's girlfriend who annoys Sonic's girlfriend''#Even her slapping Tails feels less like a dramatic moment and more like an overdramatic ''Hate this character now'' sign#So yeah as much as I generally think IDW is a downgrade from Archie#and that Flynn had mostly a strong start and has gotten worse over time#I will give them both plenty of credit for Surge#I find her way less annoying than Scourge and also everything villain Fiona should've been#Sonic#Sonic the Hedgehog#IDW Sonic#Surge the Tenrec#Surge is probably the best part of IDW TBH#Not huge on the rest of it but even I- dedicated Flynn disliker since 2012 that I am- have to admit they went off with her#Not gonna tag Fiona since this post is basically ''Man Flynn's version sucked and none of the others gave a shit''#I like her and I wish she was better but Archie weren't up for that

hang on we forgot something, without getting into it we remembered that we very often hear complaints about certain things with robots not having much in the way of fat robot gal rep much less in a videogame. Steamworlds Heist does that, meet the archaeologist Dora D. Aventura
she appears later in the game and has a lot to say, has an interesting story that we won't spoil, as does rural bounty hunter Sally Bolt who is also sort of in this category
this game (series) is a real joy for doing a lot of things with robots we wish would happen elsewhere in general so easily
y'all just wanted to let you know most of the steamworld series is on a deep discount sale, steamworld heist is literally going for a $1.04 on steam and it is so 200% (really more like 1500% worth it given what price usually is but we didn't want to sound too hyped) worth it, a fave. its trans-coded robots in a midwest-esque post apocalypse setting the indie game, playing as noble space pirates, if there is anything we love with detailed robot stories that has been released navigating gender from a robot perspective as much as transformers it's this. unsure if the url will load a thumbnail properly so we will post a trailer video here. the series started with a metroidvania digging game, Steamworld Dig & Steamworld Dig 2, has an exquisite citybuilding game, Steamworld Build, and even a high fantasy tactical deckbuilding game whose premise is being an in-universe fictional prose story, Steamworlds Quest. Steamworlds Heist itself is a space adventure tactical rpg game (in the videogame stats sense of the word) with puzzle-like gun physics. the series is unique for it's genres and the story it is trying to tell, and is so heartfelt

i personally wouldve opened the pjo show in a mini prelude with two (2) scenes to establish the worldbuilding and the stakes presented:
FIRST SCENE- camp half blood visits olympus on the winter solstice as they do yearly. only half of the olympians look interested in their kids (hermes, athena, ares, apollo) and the other half are visibly bored (zeus, poseidon, hades, mr d, etc). hermes tries to connect with the leader of his cabin, luke, but is cooly rebuffed. camp half blood leaves and some time later zeus notices his master lightning bolt is missing along with hades’ helm of darkness.
SECOND SCENE- and im borrowing from the lightning thief movie here but idgaf. zeus and poseidon meet some time later at the top of the empire state building and zeus threatens him that his son better return his master bolt soon. poseidon covers for percy saying his son hasn’t even joined chb or even knows of his parentage yet but zeus is uncaring and specifically says he’s been lenient enough by letting poseidon break the treaty of the big three and by letting his son grow up in the same city as him virtually safe. poseidon counters by pointing out that he considers the treaty null and void seeing as zeus broke it first but zeus again, doesnt care and makes the final threat that if percy doesn’t return the master bolt by the summer solstice, than olympus and atlantis will enter war
#walk with me yall!!#pjo show crit#pjo/hoo#we just havent gotten a good grasp on the stakes of the quest yet#other than sally ‘dying’ but the mystery of who stole the master bolt is literally nonexistent#and id recast hermes too LMAO#sidenote but i picture zeus to reacting to his bolt going missing just like king neptune in the spongebob movie when his crown is stolen 😭

post episode (and post lunch) thoughts:
thematically i appreciate this episode - ultimately i think that what this episode made clear to me was that this season was not about the trio (annabeth, grover, percy) but about percy's family (a different trio: sally, poseidon, percy). i think that if you separate show sally from book sally (and accepted that they toned gabe down, shifting that narrative 90 degrees to the left) and you just take the show as it is (with little to no relation to the books) what you're left with is a show that isn't actually about the quest, but a show about family dynamics in which sally and percy trade off on being the focus character.
in that sense, thematically, this episode did everything it needed to do - it made poseidon's parenting story line full circle, it wrapped up sally's faith in poseidon, it ended with percy finally seeing the lengths to which poseidon would go for him. that was the core of this show. and in that regard, if we make this about sally and poseidon and percy, this show makes thematic coherence.
but.
the show isn't supposed to be about that? as an adaptation from the book, the focus should be on the quest. right? the focus should be on percy's relationship with annabeth and grover right? the focus should be on percy and luke and the realities of being a child of the gods, that the gods forget unless convenient to them. right? right?
i feel like i'm going insane - surely?? that's what was promised? episode eight once again cuts out annabeth and grover. the emotional climax of the story is not from luke's betrayal. it is from poseidon shielding his son from zeus.
it's really hard to say, because i loved the moments with luke that we were given (except for whatever weird shit is going on with backbiter like what?? xin mo what are YOU doing in camp half blood [edit: forgot backbiter literally is xin mo in the book]), but the story ended after percy returned to montauk and was embraced by sally. that was, thematically, the end of the episode. i hate to say it but the rest of the episode felt like an epilogue. like it could have been cut??? and that baffles me.
i saw a post the other day about the choice to cut down on the time percy spends at camp half blood (please if anyone knows the post/who made it message me, i lost it somehow) and how it affects the story as a whole and it's so true. that change was really revealing in the end, because this isn't about percy's journey ultimately. it's about what percy represents - and what he represents is his two parents and how they influenced/raised him. so anything that isn't that is filled with significantly less emotional weight.
#like the parenting themes?#objectively had the best and most coherent throughline#like when i saw poseidon stop the bolt from killing percy#that hit#it hit really hard#and this is DESPITE my disdain for how they handled poseidon#but from the beginning#from the flashbacks#from everything#this has been a family story#but it wasn't the family that i expected#it wasn't about the kids#it wasn't about camp#it wasn't about luke and annabeth and thalia#it was about sally and poseidon#and their son percy#and i guess i'm just mourning the coming of age that we could have gotten#i'm mourning the relationship that the trio of annabeth percy and prover could have built#trust your actors please#they can and will deliver#percy jackson#percy jackon and the olympians#pjo tv show#pjo show crit#spoilers#pjo spoilers#.

Pros of this Episode:
Annabeth ripping into Procrustes every time he speaks by threatening to cut off his head. She is Done TM and I am so proud of her
Percy being a New Yorker once again, lying through his teeth, and calling them suckers. Also RIP to “it was a big bathtub” but “I mean…we’re all dying…to some extent” SLAPS
Grover and Percy looking at each other after finding the Master Bolt like “oh shit oh fuck oh shit oh fuck” I felt that
Hades and his Fruity Little Vibe, being so flamboyant and over-the-top but also still nice in his own way, You go Glen Coco
Sally. Everything with Her, Sally and Percy, Sally and Poseidon, Sally and the bitchass principal, Sally. Sally Jackson. End of story.
Cons of this Episode:
So I’m not a fan of- *gunshot, I am killed instantly*
#the scream I scrumpt when Annabeth yelled at Crusty from the back room#also Cerberus’ character design was adorable#you’re not getting my criticism after I posted about last episode#I’m not opening Pandora’s box thanks#percy jackson#pjo#percy jackon and the olympians#pjo tv show#percy jackson and the olympians#percy jackson tv show#pjo spoilers#percy jackson the lightning thief#pjo series#grover underwood#annabeth chase#sally jackson#hades pjo#hades#Poseidon#poseidon pjo#procrustes

Hello. I saw that your wishes for Percy Jackson were clear. I wonder if you can write for yandere son percy jackson and mother reader?
Yandere Percy Jackson x Mom!reader (platonic obv)
-£ hope you don’t mind this being short! I have a lot of Fics to work on but I needed to make you something!
-£ warnings: Yandere behavior, being protective, and violent behavior.
Percy only likes your attention to be solely on him and no one else. Of for some reasons you are interacting with another kid he gets angry and starts to throw a fit to get you to pay attention. And you’d offend get calls from the school about Percy “pushing” or “biting” another child.
He’s a very needy child. Needing to be held by you, needs to play toys with you, even sometimes plays the hero to save you.
When you enrolled him in school you didn’t know how he would react. He would cause trouble to get sent home, do anything he could even finding a way to sneak out of the school. He was a trouble making.
It took some convincing to actually get him to stay in school
When he is slightly older he doesn’t acted out as much. He is hiding his actions away from you.
But expect percy to glare at any man he sees talking to you or even sending a glance your way.
Helping you with the groceries and refusing to let you carry a lot.
“Mama” he peeks his head into the kitchen, “I need help with this question.” and you of course help him. even tho he understood the small question.
Lets say what happened to Sally happened to you instead? He would actually go crazy. Killing the minotaur? The monster should be glad it died before he could stab it over and over again.
“Father if you are hearing this,” he spoke as he placed the blue jellybean into the fire while closing his eyes, “You failed to save the one person who I cared about. If you need my help, consider me out. I could careless about your war, or you.”
He didn’t want to be in camp at all, until he found out that you were alive.
Of course he jumped on that quest to safe you and didn’t even care if he got the lightning bolt. You could still be alive and that’s all he needed to hear.
He would tear Olympus down brick by brick and have the gods begging for mercy if he need to.
(If you catch my slight quote from the second book hats off to you)

you have to understand.. sally dropped a match in a discarded, eaten ice cream sundae. you're supposed to give the best part of your meal to the gods, the thing you'll miss the most, and she took a sundae that wasn't even hers and dropped a match in it and didn't even pray out loud but poseidon showed up IMMEDIATELY. LIKE HE'D BEEN WAITING FOR HER TO SUMMON HIM. and they didn't even look at each other but you could tell how much they love each other and he said he'll listen!!!!!!!! she doesn't have kind things to say about his family BUT HE'LL LISTEN TO HER!!!! and he'll laugh with her! just a little! it's all he can allow himself to do!!! and he'll give in just a little and look at her, but she won't look at him, but she'll ask him anyway, "do you want to talk to him?" AND HE'LL WANT TO SAY YES BUT HE CAN'T HE HOLDS HIMSELF BACK BUT HE SAYS THAT WHEN THEIR SON NEEDS HIM THE MOST HE'LL BE BY HIS SIDE!!! and when their son is a little older poseidon gives him pearls that bring him to MONTAUK, the place where he MET SALLY. TO A PLACE THAT FEELS LIKE HOME. AND PERCY HAS ALL THE POWER OF THE SEA BEHIND HIM WHEN HE FIGHTS ARES. andthenandthenandTHEN! poseidon has his back AGAIN when he stops THEE LORD ZEUS FROM STRIKING PERCY DOWN WITH HIS MASTER BOLT. AND HE SURRENDERS!!!!! HE.SUR RENDERDC. TO ZEUS. FOR PERCY. AND THEN PERCY USED HIS VERY LIMITED FACE TO FACE TIME WITH HIS FATHER TO ASK HIM "DO YOU DREAM?" AND WHEN POSEIDON SAYS HE DOES, PERCY ASKS "DO YOU EVER DREAM ABOUT MOM?" DO. YOU. EVER. DREAM. ABOUT. MOM???????? THE UNSPOKEN, "DO YOU DREAM ABOUT ME TOO?" AND POSEIDON CANNOT SPEAK THE WORD OUT LOUD BUT HIS FACE IS SAYING, YES. YES OF COURSE I DREAM ABOUT YOUR MOTHER, ABOUT YOU, I HAVE DREAMT ABOUT YOU SINCE THE DAY I HAD TO LET YOU GO. AND HE'S HOLDING PERCY'S FACE, HOLDING HIS SON FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HE WAS A BABY AND NOT SAYING ANYTHING BUT ALSO SAYING EVERYTHING AND THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME, THEY ARE BOTH OF THE SEA, AND THE SEA DOESN'T LIKE TO BE RESTRAINED BUT RIGHT NOW, IT HAS TO BE. AND AT THE END PERCY GOES BACK TO MONTAUK, BACK TO WHERE POSEIDON MET SALLY, BACK TO HIS MOM, BACK TO HIS HOME BESIDE THE SEA AND I'M LOSING IT!! DO YOU SEE?? DO YOU UNDERSTAND???
#i am SHOVELING drywall into my mouth I CANT DO THIS#IM GOING INSANE#LIKE HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE A GOD LOVE YOU WITH ALL THE FORCE OF THE SEA#percy jackson#sally jackson#poseidon#posally#pjo#pjotv#pjotv spoilers

Idea time
Odysseus gets reincarnated in the modern day. He's kinda confused and a bit freaked out at first but very quickly decides to just run with it. Keeps his head down and does his best to stay on the sidelines—he is not interested in being the main character. Then one day he meets a young woman named Sally (many of you can see where this is headed) and her son Percy. Sally and Odysseus become fast friends. He becomes a bit of a surrogate father to Percy, tutoring him (he speed blitzed school on an unrelated note), watching him after school (letting him escape to his apartment to avoid Gabe when he comes into the picture).
As time passes Ody can't help but notice Percy's...similarities to a certain someone—the eyes, how his tiny face scrunches up just like his whenever he gets angry. And at first he tries to convince himself that it's just a coincidence and there's no fucking way. Even though more monsters seem to be around when he's out with Percy, rain gets lighter when he's happy and harder when he's upset, whenever they pass a horse on the street it seems to stare at the kid for a hot minute. Eventually he can't help but ask—
Odysseus: Sally?
Sally: Hm?
Odysseus: Whatever happened to Percy's father...?
Sally: Oh...He died while out at sea...
Odysseus: Oh I'm so sorry...
Also Odysseus:
And he isn't stupid so that just about confirms it for him. He considers bolting for about 0.5 seconds before slapping himself internally for thinking of leaving them. He's too damn attached at this point. Anyway he definitely punches Poseidon right in the kisser when he sees him again—because what the fuck do you mean you couldn't wire Sally two-thousand dollars once a month!? And just like that a 3000 year old beef is reignited.
Bonus:
*After Ody and Poseidon Once Again Just Barely Resist Beating The Shit Out Of Each Other*
Sally: ...You're attracted to him aren't you?
Poseidon: NO???
Sally: Poseidon, this is a safe space, speak your truth when you're with me.
Poseidon: ...
Sally: ...
Poseidon: ...Ineedhimcarnally—

Okay compiling my most critical opinions on the pjo show so far (episodes 1 & 2)
The Gods' Conflict, Foreshadowing, & Big Three Kids
The show has seemingly dropped a lot of the foreshadowing and threat regarding the gods impending war over the theft of the lightning bolt. In the book, Percy remarks about how the weather's been inexplicably weird and extreme. When he gets to camp everyone is on pins and needles about something and they don't want to talk about it but its still very present. By the time he's claimed as a son of Poseidon and everyone's like "oh fuck" and then Chiron finally explains to Percy that the gods think he's the lightning thief, everything clicks into place for the reader. It all makes sense why everything seems so wrong... because things are wrong. Meanwhile in the show, that doesn't carry through as much, so the reveal of the conflict between the gods and why that's a big deal falls flat in comparison imo.
They dropped/stalled the foreshadowing of the fates and the cutting of the string. They could very well include this in future episodes, and probably will, but I think the timing of it - Percy seeing this before he even knew he was a demigod - again carries some hefty significance and helped set the foreboding tone of things being wrong even from the beginning.
They did drop Zeus's attack on Percy in the minotaur battle completely, which does disappoint me. In the book, its lightning that blasts the car off the road. In the show, Sally seemingly loses control of the car. That change is pretty significant, because it's again losing the power of RR's foreshadowing in the book. The attack on Percy outside the camp borders was a duel attack from Zeus and Hades.
Finally, I don't like the changes they made to Percy's claiming scene, namely, the reaction from the rest of CHB. Percy being a son of Poseidon is a huge deal. When Percy's claimed, the attitude is very much begrudging reverence paired with genuine fear of what it means and what he represents. In the book, Percy is claimed. People gasp. Everyone kneels. Annabeth says, "This is really not good." In the show, Percy is claimed. People... stand there? Annabeth smiles - she's going to get her quest. The only person who has the most outright negative reaction is Luke. I won't go so far to say this is out of character for Annabeth, but it is focusing on an entirely different aspect of her character in the moment, and what the audience gets from Percy's claiming scene here, the tone, is now different from the book. Basically, the reverence and fear don't really carry across to the show, which I think is important.
The phrase "forbidden child" slaps tho.
2. Gabe's Characterization, Sally's Characterization, & Why the Changes do Make a Difference
I'm going to say this with great care: The show has absolutely depicted an abusive relationship between Sally and Gabe. The show has shown Sally to be a strong woman who would do anything for her child. The show has shown Gabe to be a controlling, toxic man.
What they have depicted in the show does not read like the characters and dynamic in the books.
Book Gabe is a violent, menacing drunk. He is so disgusting and vile that monsters avoid him. This is overwhelmingly apparent from the second Percy gets home in the book, even before he is aware of the physical abuse Sally has been facing. Percy has already been dealing with physical abuse from him, amongst other things (edit to be more specific: this is including verbal, emotional, & financial abuse). I've already spoke to it here, in-depth, so I'll try to keep it short but all of this has not been translated accurately to the screen. (Is this to say that a person must be overtly abusive to be abusive? No. But does this character on-screen feel like Smelly Gabe? No.) These things have shaped Percy (and Sally) in very specific ways. As others have mentioned: Percy cannot stand alcohol. He meets Dionysus and is reminded of his step-father. He gets to Tartarus and the air reminds him of Gabe.... The character on screen, while abusive, does not share this presence at all, and that makes a difference.
Edit: To emphasize once more, I am not saying that the show has not depicted a realistic portrayal of abuse. It has (verbal, emotional, & financial so far). It has also distinctly changed the tone and Gabe's presence from the book, to the extent that it no longer feels like the same character and that does have a rippling effect on the dynamics he shares with both Sally and Percy.
3. The Lack of Annabeth
Annabeth in the show is just like... really not as present as she is in the book so far, and I'm just kinda like, why lol?
Annabeth in the books is already way more involved in Percy's life. She was in the infirmary feeding Percy ambrosia after the attack (ulterior quest motives lol), she's the one who lead Percy around camp and re-explained godly parentage to him - and its a moment where she's very sincere with him, and even trying to help him! Instead these moments are given to Chiron and Luke, which I do get the merit of, but still, these were her moments!
Annabeth in the books had already surmised that the gods were fighting, something was stolen, and the something bad was going to happen, all before Percy had even been claimed. And she shared that with him! Again, the loss of foreshadowing and little bonding moments has me :(
I'm a little worried how they're going to deal with her crush on Luke because its pretty central to her character in the books! It helps Luke to manipulate her and also keeps her from admitting he's done something wrong. Also, it was very sweet and funny reading her get flustered - It drove home the point that she was just a kid with a crush that she didn't know how to handle. But in the show Luke spoke to her and I was expecting there to be some sort of reaction to it and there just... wasn't? (This is not something I'm laying at Leah's feet btw! Only the writers/directors!) We're only two episodes in tho so maybe we'll see it some more moving forward.
4. The Minotaur Battle
Again, I've already spoken about this in depth here but !!
The lack of Zeus's lightning strike, them all coming to a standstill and just chatting instead of running for their lives, Grover being awake and just sort of off to the side watching the fight, Sally being like "Promise Me Grover Swear it"... it all just doesn't ring right to me
I wanted more panic, more terror, more urgency. Higher stakes. I wanted Grover unconscious, I wanted to see Percy drag him into camp, and I wanted to see more of Percy's grief alongside his rage. Like the book did.
The pacing in the show here, and just overall, is weird
5. Other Stuff
Mrs. Dodds fight kind of fell flat too. It was honestly too sudden and Percy killing her in the show seemed even more accidental than in the book lol. Like, accidental impalement vs intentional swing of the sword.
They really had show Grover throw Percy to the wolves and not just gaslight him, but low-key have a part in getting him expelled? Not sure how I feel about it tbh.
More New York. I wish we had gotten the part of Percy taking the bus home with Grover included cause like? Him ditching Grover was funny, but it would have been the perfect opportunity to show Percy traveling through New York and establish it has his home. Shots of him looking at the city, walking the streets, interacting with people near his building.. yeah.
More Montauk too tbh. Like more shots of him and Sally on the beach rather than just the cabin.
Nectar and Ambrosia! Unless I missed it, which I might have, why have we still not gotten an onscreen depiction of it yet lmao.
#I'll add more tags/thoughts to this later lmao but!#pjo adaptation#pjo#percy jackson#pjo show crit#had to expand more on Gabe cause im already getting comments like: /you know there's more abuse than physical right?/#yes#I never said there wasnt#I never said that was the only form of abuse percy and sally faced#I said both show Gabe and book Gabe are abusive#but its played differently#tone wise#presence wise#and that matters

One of the most ironic things in HOO is how Rick reversed the “godly parents don’t want their kids” to “no, kids don’t want THEIR godly parent”
You meet Piper and she rambles about how she’d want to be a daughter of Artemis if she wasn’t a virgin goddess. How she thought Athena and her kids were so cool that she wanted to join the cabin. Makes it clear that she DOESN’T want to be a child of Aphrodite. Gets claimed and makes it abundantly clear she’s Tristan McLean’s daughter first and Aphrodite’s second. Yeah, she’s arguing with her dad right now, but at least he was there the last 15 years. Yeah, there’s a war coming up, but she’s on this quest for her FATHER. And also her friends.
Enter Frank who wanted to be a son of Apollo so badly. Figured since the only thing he was good at was a bow and arrow then the sun god HAD to be his father. Was looking forward to finally being claimed by the god of archery. Gets claimed by the god of war and starts blue screening because he can’t, for the life of him, believe it.
Then there’s Hazel, who had trouble wrapping her head around the whole demigod thing in the first place. What do you MEAN that pale white man who looks like a dictator is her father? It’s the 40s; that type of stuff doesn’t happen. And that the boy who looks like needs a home cooked meal and some sleep is her brother? Blasphemy. Absolutely not.
And then you have the original, Perseus himself. Son of Poseidon? No, he’s Sally Jackson’s son. Retrieve the lightning bolt? For what? A deadbeat? Who cares about some upcoming war, that has nothing to do with him. No he’s not going on a suicide quest for glory. CERTAINLY not glory for his so called father. For his mom? Absolutely. You want him to fight for his father? Sorry, he doesn’t fuck with him like that. He’ll fight for his friends though.
