[Chapter 2] Captivity - Part 1: Glass Coffin

There's something tickling her face.

Sakura groans, her head aching and her joints stiff, and groggily opens her eyes, blinking slowly at the sight of a clownfish floating just above her nose. It's inspecting her curiously, blowing bubbles at her, and she takes a moment to gather herself before letting out a slow sigh of relief.

Just a bad dream.

A really bad dream.

Only, when she tries to stretch out her tail and her arms with a tired yawn, she can feel something cold and perfectly smooth rub against her scales and skin. She pauses, a sinking feeling growing in her belly, and looks up at the clownfish once more, the little fish hurrying away as it is startled by her movement. Sakura's gaze travels higher still, finally focusing after a moment.

She's staring up, not at open ocean above her, or swaying kelp, or even stone and rock. Instead, her gaze is pinned to wooden planks, something she'd only ever seen while scavenging the sunken ships.

A whispered promise of realized potential, of a world where she could thrive. Retribution and reward for deeds she hasn’t yet accomplished. Will never achieve. Sakura wakes alone. 

2. The Sacrifice (OC x Rengoku Demon Slayer fic)

“This one. This one!” “What would you choose, young one? To continue and renew?...” A memory filters through the fog, a soft voice asking her something, but it is quickly drowned out by the sound of metal scraping together, the feeling of weightlessness and the tight grip of her hand around Cora’s small fingers. She probes deeper. What were they just doing? There was a concert… a subway home and now-

She couldn’t stand him. It wasn’t that he was a dick or some egotistical asshole, he was just so…nice. It drove her crazy. No matter what she’s seen thrown at him, he responded kindly. There’s never been a moment that he even looked vulnerable and his incessant cheeriness was impossible to deal with in the mornings. She preferred to deal with Sanemi of all people because he never wanted to talk first thing in the morning and the two of them could sit in silence until they were forced to their classrooms to deal with whatever insanity the students brought that day. 

4. Untitled Vegas!Murder Husband oneshot

How did it get to this? She glances to the side, keenly aware of the drop behind her. All that’s preventing her from falling to her death is a window. “You really think you can threaten me?” her boss sneers at her, still trying to move in closer.  “It’s not a threat,” she says, trying to straighten, even as she grows more nauseous at the thought of the window breaking. It was a promise.

5. Continuation of The Good In You (Steve Rogers x OC)

They only see what they want to see. America’s Golden Boy. The Man Out of Time. It’s so fucking easy for him to play it up, to slip under the cracks and give them the same smile he gave on stage. They don’t see his anger. The utter frustration that sits in his throat as he watches these men in power lie to his face. It doesn’t matter if it’s about a mission, about the state of the world, about why they’re claiming their country is the best. As if he hasn’t seen the worst of it. They forget who he really is, where he came from. They forget that he is still human. They forget that he’s intelligent. 

5. Reality is Fictional (Multifandom OC fic)

This motherfucker.  If she had any energy left, if black spots weren’t already dotting her vision, she’d have pulled him down with her. The only hope she has is that her nails have gorged out paths in his skin and that any trace of blood will help him be found. That people will question why his eye is scratched. She’s not dying here without at least taking him with her: one way or another.

6. "running from comfort" untitled/undecided

She doesn’t know how she got here, curled up on this man’s lap and lulled by his warmth. She should be escaping, fighting even but as his hand runs down her back and she listens to his heartbeat, all she can do is close her eyes and relax. This isn’t so bad, is it?

7. Balance ( Jujutsu Kaisen OC)

She pauses for a moment, looking up as she feels it. It takes a moment for her to place it, to recognize the energy that resonates all the way, even here. No one else stops, unable to recognize the shift in the universe.  “Motherfucker.”

8. Only Murder Husbands in the Building (multi x oc)

She tries not to sigh. The building is in decent shape and the trailer behind her is just waiting to be emptied. She’s just exhausted. She hasn’t even started moving in. A small hand tugs on hers and she looks down at her niece. The kid looks even smaller in the city. She’s clutching her stuffed dinosaur and shifting in place, trying not to run off. It helps that Marshmallow is on the kid’s other side. Thank god. Evie doesn't know what she’d do if she had to corral her as well.  “Auntie?” “Hmm?” she asks before crouching down so that she’s on eye level with her. “What’s up Harpsichord?”  “We go home?” This time, Evie does sigh. “This is our new home. Ready to check it out?”  Harper clutches her dinosaur tighter before reaching for Marshmallow’s collar. “I don- wanna.”  “I know, but we gotta.” Harper pouts but Evie moves forward, bringing the others with her. “Come on.”

9. A Slayer in Hawkins (Stranger Things/Buffy OC Crossover)

Steve doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing. It was a bad fucking idea or bad luck, because he keeps getting caught up in this but he couldn’t bring himself to let these kids try to lure some monster that Dustin had been hiding in his basement! These fucking kids. If Steve lives to see this, he’s going to have words with them. Particularly ones that involve them promising to stop doing stupid shit.  Because now? Now he’s in a junkyard, a bunch of kids are hiding in a worn-down bus and he’s pretty sure he’s surrounded. Fuck. He can’t die out here. If he dies, there’s going to be no one to look after the little shits.  Steve apparently lives off of luck. He goes sliding over the hood of a broken car, narrowly avoiding one lunging at him before he smacks one of the things across it’s face with the bat. The kids are yelling his name, calling him to retreat but he can’t listen to them right now because he’s fucking surrounded.

10. Untitled Sakura Haruno fic

They killed her.  She is left for dead, haphazardly buried. They don’t even bother sealing her body and returning it for proof. She’s not worth it, in their eyes. They don’t even check. Her murderers are certain that this civilian playing ninja is dead and if she isn’t, she will be. There is nothing special about her. Her only purpose is to die, according to their orders. Her death will bind her team to the village. She will be a footnote in a story of Konoha’s greatness. If she’s worth even that.  They do not expect the girl to dig herself out, to drag her broken body out of the ground through sheer will and determination. They do not know how her anger fuels her enough to break the surface and breathe. She succumbs to the darkness, alone and furious and in so much pain, as her mind replays the last words said to her: “For Konoha.”

Really stupid au where when they were younger, Kakashi and Obito shared an accidental kiss a lot like Sasuke and Naruto. (Kakashi commits to his mask shortly after but will never not insist it's unrelated)

Years later and Kakashi, trying to cheer up Naruto and Sasuke ab their own embaressing accidental first kiss, shares his own story

Then, years later when Obito reveals himself on the battlefield, instead of going "woah, another Uchiha!?" when he hears his name, Naruto can't help but point and shout OH MY GOD UR THE GUY WHO KISSED SENSEI!!!!!!!!

Instant dead silence. (Obito wants to die)

Sakura, who never heard the story ab how it was a one time accidental kiss: "omg... sensei's childhood boyfriend went evil on him... this is so fucked up"

Obito is VIOLENTLY thrown off by this turn of events (and also hasn't actually thought ab it in years oh my god that did happen didn't it)

Kakashi, seeing how badly it threw him off, and also the kind of person who plays hard into throwing people off and generally fucking w them to gain an edge, seeing Sakura mumbling ab lovers to enemies and just kinda goes "Yeah Obito I can't believe you'd do this to me I thought we had smthn special."

"Yeah a rivalry????"

"So I was only ever a way for u to get stronger,, figures u were using me,,,"

[Confused Obito car crash noises]

Sakura yells smthn ab him being a deadbeat and how Kakashi can do so much better and Naruto is instantly shouting in agreement as Sasuke stands there like "hn." Which is basically the same thing for him

Kakashi just starts straight up lying actually

"What about all those picnics we went on... watching the sun set over konoha..."

"Are you talking about when Minato said we weren't allowed to come back inside till we stopped arguing and ate on opposite ends of the roof bc we couldn't even look at eachother without yelling???"

"We literally got eye married" (not a thing, he just made this up 3 seconds ago)

"We got WHAT" (no one can prove him wrong tho bc no surviving Uchiha knows that much ab their clans marriage traditions)

"Oh my god sensei's husband is a deadbeat" - sakura, horrified (and maybe a little delighted)

"Figures." -Sasuke, who's been in proximity w Obito for some time now and absoloutley believes every word ab this topic Kakashi is saying

"Woah. This is almost as bad as the fact he murdered my parents when I was a baby dattebayo" - Naruto who's priorities are NOT what they should be

"Ok. I wouldn't go that far." - Sasuke, who's priorities are also fucked but not THAT fucked, oh my god Naruto

"No, no he's right. We should kill him even harder for this" - Sakura, who doesn't actually agree but wants an excuse for more juicy sensei love drama (and also wants to see Obito beaten to death anyways)

An SI-OC / transmigrator with house husband goals as Sasuke is funny to me for many of the same reasons that I like Shen Yuan in SVSSS. A Sasuke who abruptly gave up on most of his ambitions and started trying to genuinely enjoy life would break everyone around him with shock and confusion. (And on a slightly more serious note, this could be used to explore the toxic expectations surrounding masculinity and honor in this world.)

A new element making a mess is potentially a great way to explore the canonical characters who are still there. Truly, it is SO funny to imagine how Naruto and Sakura would react to a Transmigrator Sasuke suddenly being pretty nice to them and essentially saying, "Yeah, my dream is to be the husband of a Hokage." I think this would awaken something in both of them!

Maybe Transmigrator Sasuke mostly means this as a joke. Falling in love and getting married someday would be nice, sure, being protected by an OP protagonist while he focuses on rebuilding his clan would be cool, but his current focus is SURVIVAL and this is really motivating Sakura to pick up her training and it's getting scary fast. Which makes Naruto more competitive too! Also, Sasuke enjoys the grossed-out faces and disgusted noises that young Naruto makes every time that he makes a "Oh, your dream is become strong enough to marry me?" joke. So funny!

Our transmigrator is severely underestimating what this kind and flirty behavior is doing to his teammates here. (The mental term I have for this process is "Luo-Binghe-ification".) Kakashi is on the sidelines of this, watching his student (mischievously but also somewhat obliviously) sow chaos, thinking, "Oh, this is going to be a fucking disaster of teenage love drama in five years or less. Great."

(Kakashi is also potentially thinking, "I wish I'd been in the right headspace to pull this shit on Obito back in the day. Damn, that would have been hilarious.")

He might step out of the way if he’s not in a good mood or didn’t even process what you were doing.

If he likes you, he’ll likely catch you. Then complain.

Doesn’t trust anybody for a trust fall, but he’ll catch you if you do a trust fall.

Sakura Haruno

Catches you with full intention to do so.

She’ll hold you for a second cuz she’s strong and you don’t bother her.

When she does put you do, she asks what you did that for.

She’ll trust you for a trust fall. She doesn’t trust just anybody, so that’s a compliment.

And of course, she’ll catch you.

Shikamaru Nara

Catches you, but is shocked and like “what??”

Puts you down like immediately.

Somewhere in there, he said “what a drag.”

He’s not doing a trust fall, he doesn’t care.

But if you screamed, “trust fall” and just fell back, he’ll catch you.

Choji Akimichi

Catches you without question. He didn’t fully realize what was going on, but he would do it over and purposely catch you too.

He will carry you around if you want afterwards.

Always catches you in a trust fall.

He trusts you and Shikamaru to catch him in a trust fall, but Shikamaru always loudly complains about it so more so you.

Ino Yamanaka

She catches you, but probably scolds you for just jumping on her.

Like give her some warning??

Especially if she had anything in her hands.

She can’t bring herself to fall back in a trust fall, even if she trusts the person. She’ll shout about not wanting to do it, but eventually she’ll do it to prove herself.

She always catches you, but some people will get dropped if they try.

Kiba Inuzuka

He probably does the same thing to you.

Like “CATCH ME” and a man that is way too big and buff is flying through the air, right at you.

So yeah he’d always catch you, but it comes with a cocky comment about how much you wanna be in his arms. Beware.

Randomly springs trust falls on everybody and gets pissed if they let him fall.

He will catch you.

Shino Aburame

He’ll catch you… but he’s so confused.

Don’t do that again…

He’s a little scared?

Might think something is wrong, but he kinda finds it cute when he finds out there is no real reason for it. Like you jumped in HIS arms? 🥹

He’s not up for the trust fall shit, but he’ll catch you if you do it anyways.

Hinata Hyuga

Catches you, but she is nervous and startled.

She probably says something heroic sounding like “I will never drop you.”

She’s sad when you get down out of her arms.

She’ll trust you in a trust fall and catch you too.

Neji Hyuga

Probably steps back and then gets just a little upset that he didn’t catch you, especially if you get hurt.

That or you knock you both down to the ground.

He’ll tell you that you shouldn’t have done that, but he’s sorry.

Same goes for trust falls.

He’s not doing them though, not unless you annoy him half to death to do it.

Rock Lee

He catches you enthusiastically, probably hugs you tightly too.

Now he’s got an idea, and next time, when you least expect it, he’s gonna do the same thing. He ends up knocking you both to the ground because at the speed he jumped, even if you catch him, you’re both going down…

Another type to scream “TRUST FALL!” And fall, and expect you to catch him. He will get up like nothing and say “let’s try again!” If you don’t catch him

He’ll always catch you though.

Tenten

Catches you and wraps her arms around you as she processes what you did.

She’s startled and maybe even a little alert, but when she pieces it together and realizes it’s you, she slowly puts you down.

She’s willing to do trust falls. She’ll catch you if you catch her. But if you prank her, she will give you that energy back.

Gaara of the Sand

He got startled and the sand blocked you…

He apologizes and probably lightly warns or scolds you about not jumping at him suddenly.

Tells you that you can try again.

He won’t do trust falls, but he’ll catch you with his sand if you do one.

Kankuro of the Sand

He let you fall.

Thought it’d be funny at first, but he’d feel like a total dickhead if you get hurt.

He won’t apologize though, but it’ll be obvious he regrets his decision.

Probably still tells you not to do sudden things like that, or more so, stop putting yourself in danger.

He’s not doing trust falls. If it’s the first time you attempt to jump or fall, again, he’s letting you fall.

Temari of the Sand

She’ll catch you, but immediately puts you down.

Tells you not to jump so suddenly.

Won’t do trust falls, even if she trusts you. Thinks it’s stupid and definitely not happening.

She’ll catch you though, then scold you for doing it.

Fanbinding: Dirt and Ashes, or: The One-and-a-Half Body Problem by @tozettastone

In which Sakura carries half of Hidan across two countries, leaving a trail of blood, bodies, and other people's legs.

I made this book for @aetherseer as part of an exchange we did, and I had such a great time making it. I saw this fic on their list and remembered reading it ages ago and was like I CAN DO SOMETHING WITH THAT! and here it is.

The cover is Colibri bookcloth, handpainted with acrylic (all of the lettering is freehand- easy when the font you choose is irregular). @pleasantboatpress suggested including a quote on the spine since the title wasn't working there, so I got to add the absolutely banger quote from this fic "Your pain is sacred. Your suffering is beautiful."

For the edges, I used fluid graphite and polished and waxed them. On the endbands I used my Japanese silk thread for the first time (its a dream tbh).

For the typeset, I leaned in hard on the blood sacrifice aesthetic, creating the Jashinist symbol for the front page (and also the cover) and using a font aptly called "Bloody Scratch." You can't see them here but for paragraph breaks there are little scythe.

Team 7 gets zapped into the warring states era but it's like, team 7 either mid or directly after wave-arc.

They're babies!! They're untrained little babies!!! None of them have gotten that good good character development yet!! Kakashi is still actively desperately wanting to not teach them!! (tho he may have just gotten his "ahh fuck. I actually have to teach them, huh." Moment)

Sasuke looks like a carbon copy of a younger Izuna and it's going to cause problems

Naruto thankfully doesn't look much like an Uzumaki, but his tendency to very loudly introduce himself is going to get him into trouble

Going w my usual flavor of "the Hatake are a very small but very famous clan known for being fucking insane", people are seeing Kakashi and going "oh god oh fuck what are one of THOSE guys doing here oh sage preserve us please don't eat me" as Kakashi just kinda stands there like 🧍‍♂️

Sakura is the only one safe from not being fucked up and over her clan, good for her!

-> back to the Hatake thing.

The kids still know virtually nothing about their sensei so they're learning all this stuff about his clan and believing every word of it, from the believable rumors to the insane.

Sakura, in a hushed, worried voice: "Sensei,, is it true ur clan eats people??"

Kakashi, who's father died before he could tell him almost anything about their clan and genuinely doesn't know but at this point is starting to get a little worried about it:

Kakashi, who also never passes up the opportunity to fuck with someone: "only stupid little students who ask stupid little questions <3"

Sakura and Sasuke: *worriedly look at a confused Naruto*

For convoluted reasons they run into the Hatake of the era and after introductions they look at the kids and are like,

"Oh!!! Ok, so this is your kid, right? :)" pointing at Sakura.

And Kakashi is like. ",,no."

"Ohhh, ok. So this one is your kid then?" *points at Naruto*

",,,,,,,,no."

They look at him confused then nod at Sasuke. "So then that one's your kid, right?"

"None of them are my children."

*visibly disapproving / disbelieving side eye*

One big difference between this and the team ro time travel one is how much less trustworthy Kakashi comes off to literally everyone who looks at him.

He's a trained adult shinobi, probable bloodline thief (with no way to prove his innocence), and he has 3 children from 3 different clans (2 of which are indirectly enemies bc the Uzumaki is a Senju ally) (1 of which might have a direct relation to the Uchiha main house) and comes from an infamously volatile "wild clan" from another country entirely (Iron country)

He is NOT getting out of this with talk no jutsu bullshit. He has a target on his back from day 1 and it will take a minor miracle to get even a single person hear him out

Anyways uhh—

Saying Tajima and Butsuma are still alive but due to die in some months (till team 7 accidentally interfere and somehow accidentally save Tajima, maybe also Butsuma but I'm more biased towards Tajima so I'm thinking just him actually)

Kakashi sees baby Kagami and feels like he's been hit by a truck bc he looks just like a miniature Shisui and he has hang-ups about his "suicide"

Half-Hatake Tobirama is catching HEAT from Kakashi's antics. Why does one of ur cousins have a sharingan. Where did he get those children. Do you know anything about this. Is it your duty to help hunt him down bc hes your blood. If not yours then it's definatley the Hatake's, call them immediately and tell them to clean up their mess.

Bloodline theft is like THE ultimate no-no for all shinobi, especially in this era. To the point that even ancient enemies will sometimes temporarily set aside grudges to kill bloodline theives. Kakashi is so fucked, someone get him out of there

Mmmm there are like still bits and pieces of thoughts floating around in my head for this but I can feel myself getting distracted and want to get back to art fight so I'll leave it here for now
