I always found the scene in Gravitation (2000) where the whole crowd at Zepp Tokyo instantly shuts up and listens to Ryuichi singing acapella unmiked in the back of the room, a bit unrealistic.

But more recently I attended a gig at Zepp, and boy howdy Japanese audiences behave like they’re at a chess match
