The infamous Drake hotline bling Meme
In all seriousness, I am getting so bored of the pretty, feminine boys getting knocked up (with a few exceptions like Judeau from Berserk or Kenshin Himura from Ruronshi Kenshin for example)
The worst offender is when the uke is underaged and the seme is an adult, and the uke gets knocked up 🤮)
Also if the uke looks and acts too much like a female, it almost kinda ruins the purpose of boy love, and it looks more like a standard hetro romance novel than a yaoi one, just my opinion. We all have different tastes.
I do not mind senstive, innocent boys as a whole, but it's almost as if they have one role in the yaoi community "Be the submissive, cute, passive" wife that takes crap from their abusive husbands. That is where I draw a line, and that just feels wrong to me.
I do not mind the submissive, feminine mother trope, but I also really love the strong, sexy, no-nonsense mother trope the most.
Mothers are stronger than you think, (Hell, they gave birth, and giving birth is 10 times worse than getting kicked in the balls) and I think that needs to be represented more in the yaoi/mpreg community.
Like if a male character you like gets pregnant, at least mix it up a bit.
I prefer a male character getting pregnant that doesn't take any nonsense from their hubbies (in fact the hubbies are more respectful, loving, romantic, and submissive than their badass mpreg uke ^^) and said badass male character getting pregnant, starts off hating the idea of being pregnant.... then slowly but surely (slow burn process) warms up to the idea of having a baby of their own, and are willing (either out of obligation or out of love) to give birth to their children, and have a soft side to them.
Plus it wouldn't hurt to see a sexy bara character, or the sexy bad boy character to have the role of a sexy mama.

Drawing gravitation in 2024? It’s more likely than you think.

Do you ship it?

reason: This one is old but it's also a massive part of yaoi fandom, curious how many people still remember it but it's unlikely. It's a very early 2000s anime and the pink haired boy is 100% the inspiration for a lot of the uke stereotypes that pop up if you're brave enough to read an m/m anime fic from the year 2002.

These are characters from a manga called Gravitation by Maki Murakami.
Blondy is Eiri Yuki, and the one with pinkish hair is Shuichi Shindou. It's a bit of an older manga, but it has just been licensed for reprinting.
It's a Boy's Love comedy. Very silly and fun. Obviously plays with a lot of BL themes and tropes.
The story follows Shuichi, an aspiring musician/vocalist. One day he drops the lyrics he's working on and they are picked up by a mysterious stranger who reads them and tells Shuichi he's got zero talent and should just quit.
But our tenacious hero is not one to be deterred. Turns out Mystery Guy is famed novelist Eiri Yuki, and Shuichi's attraction to him is more than just a desire to prove Eiri wrong: it is actually a whole lot of the other desire too.
Thus begins their tumultuous affair.
There's an anime too! (Sorry, I believe that is the dub, which is like sandpaper to the ears, I think it's on Crunchyroll too, but I don't know about language options) Though most fans agree the manga is much better.
My other blog ( @zerotalentscans ) is a Gravi fan blog. Lot's of Gravi related content there, and some scans of the first few chapters, it's tagged "gravi rescan project" :)
The manga ka has also written tons of doujinshi for her own series, which are fun for people who like pwp.
