A Divine First Meeting

Shuichi falls out a locker and into the acquaintance of Angie Yonaga.

Angie/Shuichi [Fluff, Comfort]

Shuichi fell out of the darkness and onto the ground. He felt confused and disoriented, a slight soreness spreading through him from where he'd hit the ground.

"Hey, Hey, are you okay down there?"

Shuichi looked up to see a girl leaning over him. She was bright as the sun, wearing a yellow coat over a white outfit and smiling down at her. Her long white hair matched her top and the longer he looked at her, the more he realized just how scantily dressed  Shuichi quickly looked away from it, eyes first darting up and meeting her own, before he blushed and redirected his gaze to the ground.

The girl kneeled down beside him, poking the side of his head. "Angie is speaking to you. Can you hear me?"

"Um, sorry," he muttered, keeping his eyes to the ground. "I, um, I'm okay."

The girl clasped her hands together. "Nya ha ha! How divine! Praise be to Atua."

"Huh? To... Atua?"

The girl ignored my question, instead holding a hand out to me. "Do you need help getting up or do you plan to lie around on the ground all day?"

"O-oh, no, I can get up by myself." Shuichi pushed himself to his feet, keeping his hat pulled firmly down on his head and his gaze away from her. Or, he tried to, but she leaned to the side to peek at him under his hat anyway.

"My name is Angie Yonaga," she told him. "What about you?"

"Oh, I'm... Shuichi Saihara."

Angie smiled at him, leaning to the other side and back again. "Nice to meet you, Shuichi! You're the first person that I've seen so far and that must mean that our collaboration is the will of Atua!"

"Uh, you keep mentioning this Atua..."

Angie stood up straight again, clapping her hands over her head. "Atua is Angie's God! Atua ia all knowing and he has spoken."

Shuichi recoiled a bit from her sudden energetic outburst. He wasn't sure that he believed in her "Atua'' talk but he still asked, "What, um, did Atua say?"

"Atua says that we should work together to find out what's going on."

Shuichi could have thought of that on his own, but he supposed that it was comforting to know that she had the same idea. He offered her a small smile. "Alright, let's work together then."

"Nya ha ha! It's decided then. Angie and Shuichi will work together!"

As strange as Angie was, Shuichi found comfort in the fact that he wasn't alone. Wherever they were and whatever was going on, it was nice to know that he would have someone by his side to help him figure things out.

Shuichi stared at her for a moment, dumbfounded at that reaction. "How can you be so nonchalant about this?"

"As long as Atua is on my side, I never have to be worried," she added serenely.

"I... see."

"Also, just because Angie doesn't remember how she got here, that doesn't have to mean that she's in danger. Maybe we just need to find something to jog our memories and then everything will be right as rain."

It was true that there was nothing to say that they were in danger, he couldn't image not being worried in this situation. Though Shuichi had always been a bit of a worrywort, so having someone so much more relaxed and cheerful than him was putting him at ease.

Angie's face suddenly appeared in his line of sight again, making him jump. Angie laughed as she stood up straight once more from where she had leaned down to peek at his face. "Nya ha ha! Are you worried, Shuichi?"

"Well, yeah, of course I am," he admitted. "I don't remember how we got here. I know where we are. It's... kind of a strange situation, you know."

Angie reached out to him, pulling  him into her arms and resting his head on her chest.

"Wha!"

"Shh, it's okay," she said softly, stroking the back of his head soothingly. "Don't worry, Shuichi, you aren't alone so you don't have to stress yourself out by over-thinking."

Shuichi was initially uncomfortable by the unexpected physical contact, but he quickly found it rather soothing. Not many people had ever hugged him, let alone held him like this. He sighed, half resigned to letting her do as she wished and half enjoying the gentle attention. "I don't know how you can stay so calm."

"I believe that Atua put us together for a reason," Angie said. "I can help calm you down and you can keep me from having to face this situation alone. So why worry before we even know what we need to worry about."

"I... guess that makes sense."

"Of course," she answered cheerfully. "So let's just stay like this for a while and when you feel better, then we can try and find out where we are and why."

She said tha, but Shuichi had the feeling he wasn't the only one taking comfort from the physical contact. Shuichi couldn't fault her for wanting a bit of comfort in a confusing situation. So, despite his nervousness, he wrapped his arms around Angie and returned the hug. He thought he felt her relax just a bit more too. It was a good feeling, being able to comfort someone and finding  comfort in turn. Maybe there was a little truth to Angie's statement and they really were together for a reason.

“I’m really glad,” Angie said softly.

“Huh?” Shuichi tilted his head to look up at her without moving from her tight embrace.

“That Atua didn’t make me do this alone,” Angie said. “ Not that Angie is ever really alone when Atua is with her, but… things are easier to face when you face them together, right?” She smiled at him and Shuichi found himself easily smiling back.

“Right.”
