The Story So Far:

A small-town woman who had her world turned upside down when she caught her husband in an affair, she relocated to Port Leiry after finding an opening at a local Elementary School on a job search website. It's about as geographically far away from her problems of faith and fidelity as she can find, but the brochure doesn't mention the presence of monsters alongside its touting of the regions' seasonal beauty and quaint locales...

First Impressions of Animorphs!

I'm listening to the Animorphs series while I work, through Animorphs Aloud - a fan made reading of the series. Here are my first impressions/random thoughts about them! Spoilers below if you haven't read them.

Book 9: The Secret

You know how we have the mirror test for animals to test their self awareness? How do you reckon they'd react to a clone test. My cat Sadie hates all other cats, would she hate herself if I morphed her?

One of the things that got me into Animorphs was seeing someone's take on an Andalite. They mentioned that Andalite's are never described as having a humanoid torso, so their design lacked that. It was a really nice design. This book does mention Ax having a humanoid torso however. Shame

Not another Eusocial animal! Why wouldn't the exact same loss of identity happen like it did with ants?

I wonder if anyone has animated a morph. That'd be cool to see, the images on the books are freaky enough so in motion would be even cooler

This is a pretty shitty forcefield if it just stops at the ground. You could literally dig under it, no termite form needed. If the Yeerks had made this forcefield a sphere they would have been fine

I always felt bad for queens of insect colonies, spending your entire life in a hole secreting eggs sounds like hell to me. But this passage is making me reconsider the idea, if the soldiers really were like slaves and controlled by the queen then it's as if the entire colony is actually the queen. One organism. Hmm

In this book, Cassie commits regicide!

Think I've discovered how I'd fail as an Animorph. I would totally morph a cat and end up dozing off in a sunbeam past the two hour limit and being trapped as a cat forever. Not the worst way to live though

Cassie is apologizing to Jake but honestly Tobias deserves one too. You can't blame him for acting on his nature especially when he didn't know these were 'special' kits. And he just saved Cassie's butt. And is offering to help raise the skunk babies.

Has a suspicion Homer would get skunked this book. Someone had to, and he was mentioned earlier. Also weird to me that someone would just trust their dog to go home on their own

My first thought upon hearing this was Cassie was gonna straight up murder Farrand 😭

I mean I guess this Yeerk plan was pretty low stakes to begin with, just them trying to hunt the bandits, but this was a pretty pathetic fight. They give up because smell bad and would have to refit ship. I guess I've never smelt skunk spray though so I don't know how bad it is

Visser Three has lost pretty much all his menace by now

Knd x AWISC au part 5(warning: Transphobia).

(While Monty, Carter, and Linda have different classes than Benedict, the one time the four are together in school(besides lunch) is drama club. It's one of the few clubs that both predators and prey animals can attend alongside Music club, Art club, Book club, and Best friends international.)

Mr.Eucalus (Koala): Gather around, Students.

(The students gathered around, ready for the day's agenda.)

Mr.Eucalus: We have four new members. Say hello to Cindy Viper(Viper, obviously), Zack Thorax(dragonfly), Sadie Scarlet(Parrot), and Timothy Woodchuck(groundhog).

(The four introduce themselves to the club members.)

MS.Barkson(Borzoi): This year's upcoming play will be the reenactment of the final days of the Pred-Prey war, the first war where women fought alongside men.

MS.Barkson: Now before we do anything else, what role do each of the new members want.

Timothy: Actors team, all eyes must be on me!

Cindy: I'd like to be on Actors team too, I always loved playing pretend.

Sadie: I want to be a part of the sound team, please.

Zack: And I would like to join the props, sets, and scenery part of the Stage team.

MS.Barkson: Alright, then the first day's agenda will be introducing the new members to each of the respective crew they joined.

(Sadie was introduced to Bob(lynx), Logan(tortise), and Ella(rabbit), Zack was introduced to Carter, Tyson (golden eagle), and Winifred(spider), Cindy was introduced to the actresses, Autumn(red panda), Zoe(cheetah), Stacy(swan), Muriel(black bear), Ramona(hornet), and Linda, and Timothy was introduced to the actors, Monty, Aaron(komodo dragon), Greg(chicken), William(white tiger), Henry (Skunk), and Benedict.)

Timothy: Mr.Eucalus, there isn't an equal amount of boys and girls.

Benedict:(agitated) What are you insinuating?

Mr.Eucalus: Now, Benedi-

Timothy: I'm saying that there's clearly a boy amongst the real actresses. (Points to Linda.)

Linda: How could you!?

(Linda starts to cry in Benedict's arms after hearing Timothy's transphobic comment.)

Benedict: You know, you got a lot of nerve to say something like that!

Timothy: Why can't you handle the truth?

Benedict: It is not the truth and you know it!

MS.Barkson: Alright, break it up, you two.

Mr.Eucalus: Timothy, you need to at least pretend to be tolerant of everyone if you want to stay in the club.

Timothy: Don't have to, my dad's rich and can bride the school to keep me in drama club.

(Timothy shows everyone a thick wad of cash, showing that they couldn't do shit, annoying everyone.)

Benedict in thought: (And I thought I hated Kenneth the most, at least he isn't aware that he's being an asshole. I hope he gets devoured after pissing off the wrong predator!)

Come on now, I’m imaging Gyro being dickass Gyro and ignoring the needs of his infant daughters Maggie and Sadie-Mae (they’re close in age but were born to two different mothers) yet again and so Jake and Diego are running themselves ragged. Holy shit! These girls didn’t just shit their diapers again did they??/ Are they hungry, when did we last feed them, maybe they need to be burped???? Hey, they stopped crying as soon as they saw us, what could this mean??? And so on and so forth.

So Jake has this mental checklist to go through every time one of the girls cry or make a fuss. Ergo, Jake handles the babies.

The other menace on their hands is Gyro’s *other* daughter. THe menace to society. The miniature Gyro. The little bull herself. The little Italian (Neapolitan) girl with a super mad bad attitude. Paxe Amalia Zeppeli.

Diego does more than wear a little cinnamon-scent spice scent. He’s also a bit spicy with his attitude. So the little bull is charging at him? No problem, his people were born to be bullfighters!!!! Olé !!!! He makes quick work of the bull and sends her in her pen (bedroom) when she tries to poke him with her horns. Off you go to bed, little girl!!! And so, Paxe dreams of the days when she can charge at and launch Diego into the air.

And all the while, what the fuck is Gyro doing??? He’s either working or shirking his work as a father!!! Diego and Jake search the house looking for him, each carrying a squirming baby, and Gyro is nowhere to be found.

Then he comes home a little later than usual and is drunk as a skunk. “Where the fuck have you been? The girls have been shitting everywhere, they just vomited today, they’re crying and won’t stop!!!!”

But Gyro doesn’t give a shit, really. Out of the three, Paxe is the one he cares about most. Matter of fact, Paxe is so close to Gyro that she instantly pacifies when Gyro is near. In other words, she don’t fight, she don’t back, she don’t dig in her little heels when something don’t go her way. No, no, no!

Then Jake and Diego start nagging in Gyro’s ears when all the kids are asleep. “What kind of a father are you?” “What kind of a MAN are you?!” “Leaving your little baby girl out like that...!” “You’re a monster!!” And things like that!

And Gyro finally, finally wises tf up and thinks, “Yeah, what the fuck am I doing, my baby daughters need me...” And he makes an effort helping Diego and Jake care for the girls. I mean really, sometimes, Diego needs some quiet time in the evenings and nights to further work on his case or take care of some legal matters. Usually, he takes care of this in his office where he knows it’s quiet, but with these three kids, oh my god, there’s no way that he can keep this up!!!! He has to work on his homework from home!

The home has an office room that he could use, and he does use it, but those kids are still a handful. Many times, he’s heard Jake pace up and down the hallway by the baby screams Diego hears through the walls. Jake was struggling to pacify all of them and kept shuffling up and down the corridors. Diego couldn’t work that like. No. Way. Every goddamn five minutes, he was interrupted from his attempt at navigating the most difficult of law!

They needed more help. By god, they needed more help!!! Maybe one other person to help lighten the load. Jake became detective by day and devoted dad at night, flitting here and there to check up on each kid. But he disliked working with Paxe because she would charge him and every opportunity and only found his presence revolting. So Diego had to step in and set things straight. He’s much strict and stern and hard-attitude spicy like her father, but unlike him, Diego wasn’t her father! And he never would be! So that is why she is easy to fight him, to charge at him like a bull. But like a bullfighter, he evaded and humiliated her.

And the other thing is that Diego quickly found himself holding a baby in his arms and soothing her while looking over some business stuff on his home computer. He could no longer separate work from family matters.

They needed Gyro and his help. And so when he helped, he could balance running around, pacifying each kid individually, and pacify Paxe when the little bull stirred and wanted attention and affection. Admittedly, Gyro only needed to keep Paxe at bay. Jake could easily deduce what the babies needed and spring into action. And Diego got used to and even liked the feeling of a baby sleeping soundly in his arms after a fight, while he reads documents for work.

"This is obviously worse," says Rafa, ashing the joint into the empty water bottle tucked between his legs, "Theo's just running a business." He hits it, shrugs, and adds in a tight voice, with smoke still in his lungs, "I mean, black market business, yeah, but a business is a business, Del. Kid's an entrepreneur." Letting the smoke out, he shakes his head. There is no part of him that's actually disappointed in Sadie's unfamiliarity with weed, and in fact thinks that probably means they did a decent job raising her — if they needed more proof than they already had in who she's grown up to be. But fucking with Delilah is one of his favorite past times. "Meanwhile this kid is prob'ly payin twenty bucks for some skunk weed she can't even roll herself. We fucked up big, that's all I gotta say."

"Stop laughing. It's been awhile." Choked words through a cloud of smoke, dashed through by her free hand. Not awhile since Delilah had gotten high--no, that was only a few weeks ago, Rafa's weekend with their son and a cancelled catering meeting leaving the redhead's weekend surprisingly free of any serious obligations. But that certain indulgent and the rare, but not unheard of few before it were usually reserved for the special gummies hidden in the drawer of her nightstand, and not the stolen joint pinched between her fingers. Her nose scrunched in distaste, though another, smoother hit is taken before it's passed to her right. "That is awful." And an immediate reminder of their college days, which she supposed was fitting, considering just where (who) they'd gotten it from. "Is it bad that I don't know whether I'm relieved or disappointed that she's buying pre-rolls?" It felt as if Delilah's own upbringing had seen that she'd known how to roll a joint since before she could walk. While this had clearly been a priority of her parents, she was (mostly) glad that this lesson had seemed to evade their daughter. "I can't even tell if this is worse than finding out our son is slinging slime to third graders for profit."

Willy's Wonderland ex vampire hunter au part 6

(After Sara and Crystal were finally let out of the monster hospital they go back to The Bloodmoon Elite mansion. When Sara gets there, she introduces Crystal to Brucie.)

Sara: Brucie, meet your new baby sister Crystal.

Brucie: She's beautiful mom.

(Knighty Knight walks up to Sara.)

Knighty Knight: Welcome back dear.

Sara: It's good to be back honey.

(Sara gently puts Crystal in her crib.)

Willy: Hey guys, Akira has something to announce, so please come to the meeting room as soon as possible.

Sara and Knighty Knight: Sure thing Willy.

(Sara gently puts Crystal back into her arms, and she and Knighty Knight go to the meeting hall with their son Brucie.)

Willy: So Akira, what is your announcement?

Akria: Well, I want you all to meet my boyfriend Alpha.

Alpha: Hello everyone.

Sadie: Are you sure you need to bite him, he already looks like a werewolf!

Toki: Sadie, don't be rude!

Sadie:(hmph) I was only joking.

Akria: So Alpha and I decided to have a double wedding with Gus and Carlin and Alpha wants to be bitten on our honeymoon.

Selene: Oh that's great, I am so-

(Before Selene could finish her sentence she started vomiting blood uncomfortably.)

Willy: Oh dear Dracula!

(Her husband Wisp takes her to the bathroom, after the incident Selene remember that she and Wisp did it a few nights before, she took a pregnancy test and she tested positive.)

Selene: Uh Wisp, you might want to come in here.

(Wisp walks into the bathroom.)

Wisp: What is it Selene?

Selene: Looks like I'm pregnant again.

(She then holds the positive pregnancy test and Wisp is very happy.)

Wisp: Oh Selene, that's great!

(They walk out the bathroom, and tells everyone that Selene is pregnant again.)

Bailey: So I'm gonna be a big sister!?

Selene: You sure are Bailey.

Bailey: I'm so excited!

Akira: I can't wait for us to start having our own kids.

Alpha: We will eventually sweetie.
