The La Brea Tar Pits: Where Prehistoric Beasts and Ghostly Tales Collide
The La Brea Tar Pits, a unique and fascinating landmark in the heart of Los Angeles, offer a glimpse into a prehistoric world where saber-toothed cats, mammoths, and dire wolves roamed. But beyond the scientific wonders of these ancient asphalt seeps lies a realm of mystery and intrigue, where whispers of ghostly encounters and unexplained phenomena intertwine with the stories of extinct…

Paleolithic Huntress and Her Pet
A Paleolithic huntress in Pleistocene Africa is showing some affection to her tame saber-toothed Megantereon. Humans may never have been able to fully domesticate any saber-toothed cats as far as we know, but I can still see some adopting cubs and raising them to be hunting companions. It would be like how people have trained lions and tigers to perform tricks in historical circuses.

In a monumental discovery for paleontology and the first of its kind "Mummy of a juvenile sabre-toothed cat Homotherium latidens from the Upper Pleistocene of Siberia"
Abstract The frozen mummy of the large felid cub was found in the Upper Pleistocene permafrost on the Badyarikha River (Indigirka River basin) in the northeast of Yakutia, Russia. The study of the specimen appearance showed its significant differences from a modern lion cub of similar age (three weeks) in the unusual shape of the muzzle with a large mouth opening and small ears, the very massive neck region, the elongated forelimbs, and the dark coat color. Tomographic analysis of the mummy skull revealed the features characteristic of Machairodontinae and of the genus Homotherium. For the first time in the history of paleontology, the appearance of an extinct mammal that has no analogues in the modern fauna has been studied. LORE TIME LORE TIME!!! (Also my favourite art so far in that last panel yay)
Someone ages ago asked about their afterlife and the answer is! Well! This isn't Starclan that's for sure!
Also meet Snakespots, they seem nice and not suspicious c:
Good job to that Anon who guessed that Ice Fangs were another sabercat! Smilodon is present at this time and I'd be lying if i said I wasn't super excited to finally draw them >:3
Who is that getting bodied by an Ice Fang, you ask? Well, that would be telling uvu
*squints* did tumblr eat the quality or are we ok??
I'm sure everything said this page is totally valid information that should be taken at face value and nothing should be questioned bc Snake and Burnet are very reliable narrators who would never go into the story and tell lies uwu-b

Attacking the Deep Ones
100,000 years ago on the East African coast, the huntress Ekan’e and her tame saber-toothed Megantereon Orru ambush a marauding party of Deep Ones, determined to prevent them from abducting any more of her kind for sacrifice to their horrible deities known as the Great Old Ones. Can our Paleolithic heroine and her feline companion vanquish these vicious fish-beasts?
This is an illustration I did for one of my short stories. The Deep Ones are one of the creatures the horror author H.P. Lovecraft created for his Cthulhu Mythos, being a race of sapient and amphibious fish that are biologically immortal and have built various undersea cities. In Lovecraft’s stories, they have a habit of interbreeding with humans, but I wanted them to be more dangerous by abducting them and sacrificing them to their gods. They’re now the kind of monsters you want to see taken down!
