i've been thinking a lot about teeth in the suckening. Arthur starts off with purposefully dulled teeth, meaning that he had to rely on Void to properly bite into whatever he'd hunted. when he gave up his appearance his teeth grew sharp and grotesque, preventing him from properly hiding behind the same facade as before.

Shilo's teeth resemble a classic vampire look with just sharpened canines, but he refuses to use them. he's disgusted by the idea of biting into someone; he feigns humanity by drinking from a cup and willfully ignoring that the blood is still from a person even if he doesn't have to use his teeth.

I think Emizel's teeth are the most interesting since every tooth in his mouth becomes serrated from the moment he becomes a kindred. he didn't make much effort to hide his vampiric abilities once he got them, but he couldn't even if he wanted to because his teeth made it obvious that he was no longer human. plus, edward removed all his teeth that one time, wasn't that cool.

there's no point i wanted to make here, these are simply my ramblings. i just think teeth are cool and that it's neat how they reflect aspects of their respective characters.

Most vampires have specialized hollowed out teeth (and thin tubes lined with an connecting to said teeth that go just over the roof of their mouth and connect to the inside of the throat) most often the top canines for drinking blood directly from a victim though they may drink the blood normally in other circumstances such as from a cup. Because of how these teeth are connected deeper into the head any damage taken to them is extremely painful and proves more difficult to heal often leaving crack like “scars” on the teeth. These teeth are connected to more flexible gum tissue and can move around slightly for easier feeding. (a little bit similar to a snake)

These teeth also inject victims with a small amount of venom that calms and numbs victims when first bitten.

Similar to some venomous snakes this venom is mildly anti coagulant and will thin out blood. (The venom neutralizes in the human body within an hour)

Because of all this vampires have smaller nasal cavities, which isn’t really a big problem seeing that they are dead and don’t need what the nasal cavity offers quite as much. (respiratory protection, breathing, etc.)

I might make a more anatomically accurate one later but for now you get my scribbles!

tumblr annihilated the quality of this so i added a text free image of him so ppl could actually see him! the quality will probably hold up better on my FA lol. i wanted to use a text tool in paint or sai to write all that out but they were either crunchy or just straight up not working for me today

anyway i have had levels boyfriend-adjacent guy in my head for months (almost a year honestly i think) but i only had a fuzzy idea for his design itself in my head and the many attempts i made to just find smth by doodling weren't promising. so while i still think this is a little complex for him (probably kinda overdesigned especially cuz im still so pleased with levels design and her color blocking and she has a great 'looks more complicated than she actually is to draw' design to me) and ill likely mess w it a bit in the future, im happy with where i ended up this time! i have a lot less experience drawing robots than i do just normal furries so figuring out pleasing shapes, lines, and plating for more inorganic stuff isnt rly second nature to me, but i'll get there, and im happy with him for now :-)

one thing i was trying to translate w his design that i couldnt fit on the ref was that since he's level's mechanic and he also does as much of his own servicing as he can, i wanted some of their plating and (minimal) greebling to be similar. zag has some plating styles he likes i think.. i did want their colors to contrast but still look good together :) i had to fight everything in me to not make him just teal. i love you teal. level had enough teal in her design lol. zag got a greener teal for highlights than level's 'beachier' color scheme bcuz i cant resist at least a LITTLE bit
