BIOGRAPHY

Dahee has been in the entertainment industry for most of her life, actually getting her start as a child actor along with her sister before her becoming a solo singer. Her mother was a stylist for many actors and models while her father had a short stint as a singer in a group. He eventually became a songwriter and was active up until a few years ago when he retired. But given her parents being active in the entertainment industry it was natural for them to get Dahee into it. She starred in a few dramas and a movie before she stopped acting at the age of 14, only to have her debut as a singer at the age of 15. She debuted under the stagename D:AE with the techno hit ‘Wa’ in 2003, gaining attention rather quickly. Her popularity grew with each release, and her company capitalized on it by having her promote in Japan as well.

In 2007 she debuted in the duo SAF with her sister, originally it was a trio but the third member left before their debut. They were an instant hit given each of them had a successful solo career, and many were fans of the sister’s good relationship and how well they worked together. Since then they have also promoted and released music in Japan, Taiwan and China. However their contracts with their company expired in 2014, and after careful consideration they went their separate ways with the company they had been apart of for years. Each sister went to different companies after that, however they reaffirmed that SAF did not and will not disband, no matter the distance between the two sisters. However their last comeback was just before their contracts expired. The reason for their departure was them hearing the company would be closing it’s doors rather soon. And that’s just what happened in 2015, and there was quite a scandal about it. 

Shortly after leaving her old company she signed onto Termina in 2014, resuming her solo career and releasing her first single since signing under the new label in 2015. However, SAF remained inactive as the two focused on their individual careers. They did release a digital single to commemorate their tenth anniversary in 2017, but there was no promotions much to the disappointment of fans. They have teased a possible comeback in the recent months, but as of now they are still working on their solo careers but are as close as ever.
