The concept of throwing characters you are already attached to into worlds of other fandoms has become my favorite thing.
First up!
Clone Wars x Hunger Games!
Will Always be (A Double Edged Sword)
SUM: The 65th Hunger Games’ holds all the aquatic land mines and turbulent team alliances one could ever hope for! District 11’s Cody Fett aims for the prize of survival but is taken to his knees by the searing venom of the Capital’s fangs. Just adjacent, District 10’s Obi-wan Kenobi, curates a smile for golden gowns and dull slacks alike while the Games starting cannon is craned into position. A dazzling, thrilling guillotine. Will this year’s games conclude with the killing of two birds with one stone? Will the little brothers standing at the doors see their tributes again?
Cody and Obi-wan protect and aid their families no matter the consequences, when the Capital plucks them from their familiar labors and tainted dollar dealings, they are faced with an entire new beast. Cody believes he’s spared his brothers from the worst fate imaginable but Emperor Palpatine has his claws in every corner of the district’s. Obi-Wan’s faith and willingness to cross inconsiderable lines is planted onto the cropping block as Cody becomes his biggest competitor and bitter partner in the Games. Cody’s made promises, his family needs him to be strong. He will not let the Capital win, not ever.
#im thinking about characters#them#this is only Cody’s moodboard but im making Obi’s soon#obi-wan is apart of the JEDI an religious organization that takes in orphans and helps run the community and distribute food#obi has to leave anakin behind during the games and he is not happy#the mental image of the Fetts home makes me smile#music and dancing and music#17 is the head of the Fett house#a lot of district 11 is home to other characters from CW#sci-fi weapons! lets GO!#I think I might switch Mutts out for Droids?#im just thinking things#thoughts aloud#SW x HG#Star Wars x hunger games#wip fic#wip#Loyalty and lies AU#star wars au#codywan#commander cody#obiwan kenobi#obi wan#obi wan x cody#photos from pinterest#sw moodboard

Been thinking about how I'd rank each of the new pokemon introduced in each generation and I'm curious what the consensus is, so I'm running two polls.
Including Megas, Regional Variants, GMaxes, etc in the generation those new forms were introduced in, not the original Pokemon:

Heroverse: Timeline
(had this in my drafts for a while and finally deciding to post it)
wanted to try and assemble a proper timeline for the Heroverse! this is subject to change as its constantly developing, but right now this is the one I have in my brain. Will also list the protagonists and their ages for each of those games
P:LA- Auberi (Age 19)
⬇️ 200-ish years or smth
FR/LG- Red (Age 13) (he’s the only heroverse protag that isn’t an OC)
⬇️ 2 years
HG/SS- Al (Age 11)
⬇️ 3 years
S/M- Al (Age 14)
⬇️ Approximately 30-ish years or so
OR/AS- Arcelia (Age 15)
⬇️ 2-3 ish years
D/P/PT- Quartz (Age 15-16 maybe)
⬇️ A few months to 1 year
SW/SH- Blake (Age 16)
⬇️ a few months
The Isle of Armor/The Crown Tundra- Blake (Age 16(IOA)-17(CT))
⬇️ a few months (1 month after CT more specifically)
X/Y- Blake (Age 17) & Auberi (Age 18)
⬇️ 1 year
B/W- Blake (Age 18) (happens linear to Auberi getting sent back to P:LA)
⬇️ 1 year
S/V- Florence (Age 15)
⬇️ 1 year
B2/W2- August (Age 15)
⬇️ A few months
The Teal Mask/The Indigo Disc- Florence (Age 16)
haven’t… totally figured out where OR/AS falls in here? I’m thinking maybe a few years before SW/SH, as currently I’m trying to work Arcelia in as the protag, and she’s around Blake’s age. but if I decide to just make a new protag from scratch- I might just place it right after HG/SS, or somewhere in that one 30 year gap.
UPDATE: ORAS’s spot on the timeline has been decided so nvm lol
UPDATE 2: changed D/P/PT's place on the timeline
note that any semblance of a canon timeline mentioned in the games is just… mostly if not completed disregarded/rewritten in this AU lol
also! I feel like I should explain the weird placement of S/M cause I feel like out of them all that one's the biggest head scratcher, since in most timelines I've seen it's placed pretty later cause obviously it's a more recent game. see, my original trainersona was Al, my Johto protag, and when S/M came out I made her my protag again cause I wanted her story to continue and hadn't really fleshed out her universe beyond those games back then. BUT over the years after she stopped being my trainersona I still didn't want to get rid of her. I made Blake's story afterwards, but introduced a new character named "Gold" to it that was supposed to be Al's future kid. he's the guy who takes over after Blake loses their champion title. therefore S/M had to be placed right after HG/SS. in short, Heroverse is a result of me mashing two OCverses together. and that also means S/M is heavily canon-divergent in this verse lol.

The pages in this category are redirects from names that are unsuitable for inclusion in a printed version of Wikipedia. To add a redirect to this category, place {{Rcat shell|{{R unprintworthy}}}} on the second new line (skip a line) after #REDIRECT [[Target page name]]. For more information follow the links. Never substitute redirect template(s), nor place them on soft redirects.

This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.
This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. They are not part of the encyclopedia's categorization scheme.
This category is hidden on its member pages—unless the corresponding user preference (appearance → show hidden categories) is set.
These categories can be used to track, build and organize lists of pages needing "attention en masse" (for example, pages using deprecated syntax), or that may need to be edited at someone's earliest convenience.
These categories also serve to aggregate members of several lists or sub-categories into a larger, more efficient list (discriminated by classifications).
"Unprintworthy" redirects are redirect pages on Wikipedia that aid online navigation, but would have little or no value as pointers to target articles in a hard-copy book. The name of a redirect may be unprintworthy for a number of reasons, including being nearly identical to the name of the target page, containing typographical errors, or not being encyclopaedic. Redirects are not unprintworthy just because the name may be offensive to some, unless the name is also not encyclopaedic.

My personal thoughts on actual game canon and main protag by game/region/generation.
Incredibly convoluted, just like the actual canon timeline appears to be.
First, objectively, at this point it has been established that there are multiple timelines, with the establishment of Rainbow Rocket. I've mentioned it before, but the original gameboy versions do not appear to be within the same continuity of time as the GBA/DS game. They do potentially seem possibly connected to the 3DS era games via direct trading through PokéBank, as well as adult Red showing up in the same game as young Wally. The Switch games are still up in the air as to how or even if they are connected directly.
I think the two official timelines seem to be
RGBY → GSC (BDSP?) → XY → ORAS → SM/USUM (→ SwSh → PLA somewhere in this coninuity → SV?)
and
FRLG ⇒ RSE → HGSS ⇒ DPPt → BW → B2W2 (→ SwSh → PLA somewhere in this continuity → SV?)
Not quite sure where the Let's Go games fit into the mix, but If the switch games have their own continuity, I might shove them in there...
While most people treat the remakes as the most definitive games of their region, I think that it would actually be the third version of each region (if there is one).
However, because there are two games per region each generation, some of which have vastly different outcomes for their opposing version, I feel like there is a another unofficial split that follows either the first named game or the second named game in the generation.
For example one timeline could be:
FR ⇒ R → HG ⇒ D→ B → B2 → X → (U)S → Sw → S
All of that being said, these are the games I take as canon and the protags of each:
Yellow: Red as protag (Blue/Leaf exists, but not within the game's events.)
Crystal: Kris as protag (Gold/HIbiki and Kotone don't exist, but if they did, they do not know Kris)
Emerald: Yuuki as protag
Platinum: Hikari as protag
Black + Black 2: Hilbert as protag followed by Rosa (Hilda and Nate hang out in the battle subway, and Hilda is Hilbert's twin sister).
Y: Serena as protag
Sun: Elio as protag (Selene probably doesn't exist, no gf Lillie :< )
Shield: Gloria as protag (Victor probably doesn't exist, no bf for Hop :< )
Scarlet: Florian as protag (Juliana exists and is a regular student)
As there are alternate timelines, starting with Unova, the protags swap as well as which game events are canon (e.g White + White 2 with Hilda and Nate, X with Calem, Moon with Selene, etc). Things get a bit more confusing in regions with remakes.
RGBY Red is still protag, but FRLG Blue/Leaf is, with their situations swapped.
GS has Gold/Hibiki as the protag with neither girl existing, but HGSS has Kotone as protag and Hibiki as her childhood friend.
Ruby and Omega Ruby has Yuuki still as protag, but Sapphire and Alpha Sapphire have Haruka.
Diamond and Brilliant Diamond have Kouki as protg, but Pearl and Shining Pearl have Hikari.
I do have a personal timeline wherein I imagine all three Johto progats co-existing, but that is honestly for another day.

Rescuing this so I can put what version I ahd choose/I'll choose, my bias metrics and if I think one works better than the other/more canon or not or it's indiferent.
RBGY / FRLG -> I'll probably picked red since red is one of my fav colors + cool dragon on box.
GSC / HGSS -> I acually bought both HG & SS but prefer HG over a mile in tems of the plot. Ho-oh just fits better with the aesthetic of the main legendary they went and Ho-oh always had that kinda mysterious godly vibe. Also that new theme slaps hard. Love lugia's design, but HG fits more.
RZE / ORAS -> played a bit of emerald but cannot form a solid opinion since it was not my game. Bought AS as I always wanted a GBA + pokemon sapphire. Kyogre was so cool an original back then. Also love Archie's redesign. Both work but I think I'm more inclined to prefer AS' plot as the sea is the origin of life (plus we have droughts and drinkable water is scarse, etc) so water fit better in my head.
DPP / wedonttalkaboutthoseremakes. Platinum kinda wins here, as controlling both time and space made sense but if we talk about the previous version, even though I liked dialga more (for some odd reason) I think Palkia fits better bc of distorting space idk. Plus Cyrus playing cards with Giratina at the distortion world is a plus (?).
BW/B2W2 So probably an unpopular opinion but at least in plot I prefer BW over B2W2. I have bias towards white and is kinda funny to think even though N tought what he was tough wasa the truth and was folowing his ideals, Reshiram taught him the real TRUTH. While you also fight for your ideals of your ideal world. Because even if you want to people and pokemon to be happy there will always be somebody who will abuse them.
X/Y Bought X for the deer and a funny nickname regarding friend's stories but if not for that I'll probably had picked Y. Megacharizard Y > X don't @ me. Feels more natural. I also think makes more sense charging a weapon of destruction with the energy the DESTRUCTION pokemon has been absorbing in order to wake up. (While "dying" Xerenas did the contraty so I think Yveltal would have more energy reserves since he had been absorbing them earlier).
SM/USUM Sun and Solgaloe wins here. Also normal daylight lol. I honestly loved US and was the third/2nd version that I'd enjoyed more in tems of story... Though I probably pick US bc of necrozma and the ultra recon squad, Sun Lusamine worked better (also Fuck Lusamine). The fusion forms seemed unnnecesary though. Idk if overall I could pick one version. But maybe US wins S by very little.
Sw/Sh Haven't played but I like Zamazenta's design more. Zacian is so basic, "look it's a sif pokemon hahah" don't @ me.
S/V Never been this biased towards a version and I think Scarlet as the more canon one. Sada's design is something different while Turo's looks more in line with standard pokevillians idk. Also Sada has fucking abs and fangs. Ans she's not afraid to show them. Koraidon also feels moer "alive" plus regal magestic ancient red feathered lizard vs P*nis dragon? yeah, biased since the first trailer. Also he is a doofus and looks like a red toothless. I love him so much. I also prefer mounts than vehicles in videogames. So troting in a powerful organic beast feels recomforting (ok the form is weird in the begining but looking at cyclizar I got used to it pretty quickly). Plus organic integrated airbags! safer! Then better paradoxes. They look more original and are not a "x pokemon but robot" (The only one interesting is iron valiant). Past paradoxes also work better in Area 0. It is beliavle that they could had survive there isolated in that remote closed area, a bit like The Lost World or Journey to the Center of the Earth. Also bc of movies like Jurassic Park. And idk why people say does not make sense to build a time machine to bring pokemon to the present. "she uses futuristic technology" like have you seen what the pokemon anime/movie villians use? what the actual technology in the pokemon wolrd is than even in gen 1 games we had FUCKING TELETRANSPORTERS? That's a really bs argument. Past theme makes more sense to me and they feel more organic in area 0 and also with other pokemon.

Of the games primarily developed by Game Freak:
Sets of two games plus a third 'updated' game: G/S/C (99-00), R/S/E (02-04), D/P/Pt (06-08)
Sets of two games plus two more sequel or updated games: B/W/B2/W2 (10-12), S/M/US/UM (16-17)
Sets of two games plus DLC: Sw/Sh (19-20), Sc/Vi (22-23)
Sets of two games without any additional content: FR/LG (04), HG/SS (09), X/Y (13) [the only non-remake in this category], OR/AS (14), LG P/E (18), BD/SP (21)
Sets of games that don't follow any above pattern: R/G/B/Y (96-98) [Has two 'updated' versions released sequentially, rather than as a pair], PLA (22) [Standalone title, has free content updates]
Pokemon hasn't followed the 2+1 model since the main generation 4 games, which came out in 2006 for D/P and 2008 for Pt. Since most of the 'updated' games had relatively minor content changes along with bug fixes, those roles have essentially been taken over by a combination of free updates and DLC.
(At the time of writing Pokemon Legends Z-A has been announced, which will likely belong to a category with PLA. The current unknown is whether Z-A will have paid DLC, which would place it once again into a category of its own.)
As best as I can tell, any game with Pokemon Home compatibility (directly or via a chain of transfers) is considered by TPC to be a 'main' Pokemon game, and any other distinctions are solely drawn by fans. Yes, that means Go is included in the main series despite not primarily being developed by Game Freak and also being a completely different type of game. Theoretically Colosseum and XD for the Gamecube should also apply, as Pokemon from those games can be traded to the GBA games and thus transferred, but aside from occasional nods in the mobile games those games are basically never mentioned, so TPC's official stance is a little unclear.

Been thinking about how I'd rank each of the new pokemon introduced in each generation and I'm curious what the consensus is, so I'm running two polls.
Including Megas, Regional Variants, GMaxes, etc in the generation those new forms were introduced in, not the original Pokemon:

I have no idea why people hate the aesthetic of the gen 4 remakes, to me personally it’s the best case scenario we could have received; the remakes remain faithful to the original and best of all GF aren’t the ones developing it. That alone brings joy to my heart since as we know GF are out of touch as a company and would bastardize the post game for hollow reasons... Looking at you ORAS with the reused battle Mason from X/Y As long as ILCA don’t remove anything and perhaps add some new content as well, these are looking to be the best remakes since HG/SS and thank goodness. Again thank the lord for the fact GF aren’t the ones touching this, I do not want to see Gen 4 in that up scaled 3ds style they are using for the Legends game and what they pulled with SW/SH.

If you wanted to do this on original hardware this requires at a minimum:
Colosseum/XD
R/S
FR/LG
E
D/P/t
HG/SS
B(2)/W(2)
X/Y
OR/AS
(U)S/(U)M
Sw/Sh
PLA
S/V
For a total of 13 games, requiring:
A gamecube or wii for Colosseum/XD
the gba link cable for the gamecube for transfer between gen3 mainline and Colosseum/XD
a GBA for trading within gen3
a GBA link cable for trading within gen3
either pokemon box or a second GBA for trade within gen3
a DS for transfer from gen 3 to 4
a 3DS for trade in gens 4-5 and transfer to gens 5-7, as well as bank usage to move between gens 6-7
a smartphone for HOME transfer from gen 7 to 8
a switch for gens 8 and 9
or 9 pieces of hardware, including 2 specialized cables, 5 separate consoles/handhelds, a phone, and either an additional handheld or one of the rarest disks on the fucking planet.
Conclusion: emulator.
A friend was asking for help 100%ing ribbons on an alolan exeggutor, starting as an exeggcute to get as far back as possible.
So to get all possible ribbons you'd have to
beat Mt. Battle with it
clear every gen 3 contest
get 510 EVs and take it to slateport
clear gen 3 championships
clear the gen 3 battle tower with it
take it to Julia in Sunyshore every day of the week
buy all the ribbons in the resort area
maximize its friendship and take it to Dr. Footstep on the beach at route 213
clear every gen 4 contest
clear the gen 4 championships
clear the gen 4 battle tower
win 7 in a row on wifi at the gen 4 battletower
beat red at mt. silver
beat gen 5 and 6 championships
maximize its affection and take it to prism tower
supremely train it and take it to north boulevard
win a battle royal with it
clear every gen 6 contest
clear 50 on the battle chatelaine
clear the gen 7 championship
clear the battle tree on normal and super
clear the gen 8 championships
take a picture of it in PLA
and clear the gen 9 championship.
did I miss anything

science fiction needs to step up
so like if we're going by mainstream modern popular stuff, mainly star wars, star trek, mass effect, firefly, starcraft, alien/predator, planet of the apes, halo, half life, bethesda fallout, etc, lots of problems with modern society are just directly copy and pasted into the sci fi series.
now obviously there's people like mary shelley, frank herbert, douglas adams, and hg wells who don't fall into these trappings, and there's a difference between hard sci-fi and a space western (of which the entirety of the previous passage fall under), but space westerns tend to be what most modern popular sci-fi series tend to fall under because of a predominant majority of first-world media consumers tendency to gravitate more towards westerns considering this group of people is mostly The West, and also the tendency for those people to ignore actual science. space westerns is the topic.
they're all built pretty closely off of european colonial imperialism and the specific corruption associated with religion and capitalism. in star wars, the empire is nazis. the borg are commies and the klingons are *tugs collar* you know. in mass effect the spectres are the government's shadow ops who operate above the law which means that the government can do whatever they damn well please, laws be damned, just like am*rica does. the terran dominion and weyland-yutani and the apes and the covenant and the combine and the enclave are all just direct reskins of actual systems that exist in today's world, and countless other pieces of plot in those stories can be found to have roots in racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, misogyny, and various imperialist cultures such as roman catholicism, the inquisition, ottoman islam, the hunnu, the conquistadors, etc.
now there's nothing wrong with using the empire and darth sidious and stormtroopers as a space version of nazis, hitler, and the storm troopers. there's nothing wrong with having space orcs enslave space goats to appease their magic space demon overlords as a direct euphemism for the complexities of slavery but in space [thats legit the plot of warcraft I'm not even kidding]. there's nothing WRONG per se with a corporation trying to use killer aliens as a war profiteering gig or for scientific research in a work of fiction. countless societies have tried to commit genocide, enslavement, and greedy gains at the cost of innocent lives. the issue is the prevalence of these specific issues being the ONLY PROBLEMS anyone ever encounters in space sci-fi.
I mean there is the overwhelming trope of, eh... "space jews" which, translating from tropes, is when certain alien races are obsessed with obtaining money and typically have large noses or horns or other antisemitic caricatures and stereotypes.
AHEM. FOR EXAMPLE.
this is of course bad and lazy writing and character design. but weirdly enough Star Wars & Harry Potter are nearly the highest grossing film series in history. BIG FUCKIN OOF, GUYS.
and that's the problem! they can get away with this bad and lazy writing and still make money!
even series I like such as futurama do this. dr zoidberg is a fountain of jewish stereotypes. the volus as well, especially compared to the turians. and yeah I do like star wars but you literally can't name one alien race from SW that isn't directly lifted from a real world culture and then bastardized. granted I really can't name any races besides dathomirians because star wars worldbuilding is trash.
but I'm really sick and tired of seeing things in media and just sighing and saying "yeah that's just X but in space". it's really depressing that the visions for the future and fiction that are successful are all built on things that sure might not seem bad on the surface if it's just one of them but it just keeps happening over and over and over again.
and hey maybe watto, griphook, the volus, and the warcraft goblins ARENT all stereotypes of jewish people... but uh... it's not really probable
