In Spain there are 1,064,600 people who are deaf or have some type of hearing disability, of which 761,600 are 65 years of age or older. As of March 31, the SVIsual video interpretation service had answered more than 300 calls to these information phones.

There are important barriers to receiving health care or to making arrangements with public administrations or private companies, since most of the resources are telephone access. The awareness campaigns that are broadcast are not entirely accessible either and, regarding the education of deaf students, there is inequality according to regions, as some educational administrations have sign language interpreters and deaf sign language specialists and others not.

The main lines of action against the crisis focus on making information accessible to deaf people and making communication accessible in services available to citizens, in health (health care, psychological care network, among others), to deaf older people and vulnerable groups (video assistance and accompaniment to combat loneliness, volunteer network to meet basic needs, specific care), deaf women victims of gender violence (ALBA virtual information and care service, accessibility to 016, advice and support, informative videos), for women (Social mediation in mortgages, rent and housing, psychological support for caregivers, support for teachers, educational content and resources, online sign language teaching network, video interpretation service for deaf people).

Among the demands of the associative network CNSE, is the extreme compliance and the adequate implementation of the legislation on the rights of deaf people, that it be mandatory for the telephones of attention to citizenship, the new digital applications, the pages of Internet or any other service or resource promoted by the public sector as channels of information, communication and interaction motivated by the pandemic are fully accessible to all deaf people, the recognition and support of the work carried out by the CNSE associative network to guarantee rights basic of deaf people and their families, the rapid processing of subsidies and financial aid to the CNSE and its associative network that guarantee the support of their social work and the guarantee that in the access to official information both the subtitling and the sign language meet criteria of rigor and linguistic precision, being, in addition, Subtitling is visible and sign language is visible.
