David Gaider on Dorian, under a cut for length:
"Now this is a fun one. It's no big secret I have a lot of feelings about Dorian, not least of which because he was my first (and only) gay male companion. There's a lot more to him than that, of course (as there should be), and it was quite a trip. So let's go! Now, DAI is a story all its own, but I'm sticking to the characters. In this case, back at the beginning, the writers were going to try something new: we were going to let the artists take a more active role in the companion creation process. Why? Because not doing so had caused a lot of problems. See, here's the thing: writers and artists speak two different languages. When talking about characters, we talk about their story. Who they are. What they want. We'd write up these briefs, huge and full of information... but it was never the information the artists needed. They wanted visual cues. I don't mean describing their appearance. Sure, we'd usually provide that, especially if there was a story case to be made, but often the artists vetoed us on appearance stuff anyhow so meh. No, I mean they looked for visual language while we tended to only talk about who the characters *were*. What would happen is they'd hone in on something visual in our write-up not intended to be a focus. The first write-up for Anders in DA2, for instance, mentioned he was "haggard" after his journey... and the first concept we got was this pale, shriveled man. "What... is this?" "YOU SAID HAGGARD!" đ
"
"That was the other trick: sometimes when we DID try to be more descriptive, we had to be extra cautious because the words could be interpreted very differently. You encounter this recording VO, too. A VO note says "hysterical" and you *meant* "really upset" but the actor read "scream like a banshee" Thus this caused problems, like I said. The artists would struggle, sometimes conjuring details just to give the character *something* but which would change the character... and, to us, the character was created. Done. We were already invested, probably already writing them. Something had to give. So this time we wrote a bunch of character briefs - but short. One paragraph. We stuck to vibes and the *emotions* we wanted the concepts to evoke. And we didn't name them. They got titles like "Slick Con Man" or "Ice Queen", so we wouldn't get too attached. Then we handed these off to the artists. And it worked nicely. The ones that just weren't inspiring we'd discard, no problem. The others had juice... and the artists felt free to play and offer lots of variations because we weren't set on anything yet. A lot of times, what they produced ended up inspiring US. It was a neat back-and-forth."
"This is what led to Dorian, in fact. He came from a short write-up entitled "Rock Star Mage" and it really boiled down to "I'm cool and I know I'm cool, so take that you cretins". And just like that, the first sketches (by Casper Konefal, I think? I bet I'm wrong) were all amazing. Instant fire. Me: "He looks kind of like... Freddie Mercury?" Him: "Is that bad?" Me: "NO ARE YOU KIDDING THIS IS AMAZING" Plus there was a monkey. Sadly, we had to lose the monkey. There were iterations to come, but this was really where Dorian was born: Tevinter mage, noble, savant, and too cool for school."
"When did he become gay? Not right away. Like I said elsewhere, we didn't talk romance and sexuality until after the concepts were more in place. But as we were brainstorming about why this hot shot mage left Tevinter, the idea DID come up that maybe it was because he was gay. Not directly, however. Homophobia isn't really a thing in Thedas, after all, so at first blush I didn't think that could work. "Rich kid gets kicked out of the house for being gay" wasn't a trope I wanted to explore. But, then again, magister families in Tevinter are *obsessed* with the appearance of perfection, so...? Any deviation from the "norm" is considered scandal-worthy. It said weakness. It said you couldn't control your house. Now... THAT had real promise. The writing pit discussed it a lot. So I think it's fair to say that the gay fairy was already circling Dorian even before we got to the romance talk. I think it's also fair to say that the rest of the team realized I low-key wanted to write him, because when everyone started calling dibs, who was left standing for me? (I pick last, remember.) I gleefully snatched him up and got to work... ...about six months later. I was very busy at the time. đ
That late start meant I had to design and write VERY quickly. And I did. Somehow, though, this one... it came easily. "Catty gay man" isn't digging very deep, no surprise to anyone who knows me, and it had an extra layer of being so fun because Dorian was confident. He sparred verbally. I loved it."
"There was more to it, however. The conflict between Dorian and his father... ugh, how do I say this? Let's be clear: Dorian's story is not MY story, but it's also not far off. I wrote the entire confrontation scene in one go. After I was done, I probably cried harder than I ever have in my life. đŤ I was unsure whether it was any good, however. I just didn't feel objective. I passed it over to Cori May - my friend but also Dorian's editor - and asked her to please tell me and be honest. She read it. She walked into my office after, tears streaming down her face, and just nodded. "It's good." Here's the thing. Not everyone is going to agree with this, but: I don't think a writer NEEDS to be a minority in order to write a minority. Sometimes those characters should simply exist, and we want them to. But if that character's story is ABOUT their experience as a minority? That's different. Dorian's story didn't need to revolve around his sexuality - and, honestly, it only did so as a tangent to his family issue, but they're so bound together it's probably irrelevant to split them - but my writing him meant it could be. It allowed me to SAY something. That felt good. It felt right. Ramon Tikaram came on board after a lengthy casting process (so many British Indian accents, oh god). I sat in on a few recording sessions... the confrontation scene, though? Ramon: *says line* Me: (curled up on a nearby sofa in fetal position) *shaky thumbs up* Caroline: "Yep. Great work, Ramon!""
"Dorian's sexuality isn't all he's about, but that's certainly how some viewed it. When the character was announced in 2014, his being gay was mentioned as the last of a number of points, and the instant response from some gamers was to act as if we'd called a press conference just to say THAT. đ It was annoying. Still is. Overall, however, the reaction to Dorian was very positive. The number of straight men who said they romanced him still pleases me. The number of fans who privately contacted me who'd been through conversion therapy, some who said Dorian helped them survive? Well. Gosh. đ I did write him for Trespasser - though I hear that a late scope cut meant every conversation had been chopped by 1/3rd or more, and that meant a lot of nuance lost. Which is sad, if true, because it sounds like the result of that left some Dorian romancers a bit cold. Such is how game dev rolls. đ If you need more proof of how it was hard for me to let go of him, a short story I wrote after Trespasser came out where Dorian has a bit of closure with his dead father: medium.com/@davidgaider... So yeah. He'll always be my boi. And I'll always be thankful Bio gave me this opportunity. â¤ď¸"

User: "I'm not going to lie, it's hard to take my mind off Dorian almost having a monkey." David Gaider: "If by âalmostâ you mean there was a picture of a monkey that the concept artist put there as a whim, and which would almost certainly have taken more cinematics and modeling time to put in than we could ever afford⌠then yes. đ" [source]

everyone wants him | fred g. weasley
summary: everyone wants fred weasley, why would he want you? word count: 3.2k masterlist
The Leaky Cauldron was alive with its usual chaoslaughter, clinking glasses, and the occasional misplaced spell fizzling out before causing any real harm.
You sat tucked into the corner of the pub, nursing a Butterbeer that had long since gone lukewarm. Alicia had dragged you out tonight, claiming you needed to âlive a little.â You werenât entirely convinced, but there was something about her enthusiasm that made saying no impossible.
And then there was Fred Weasley.
Youâd noticed him the second he walked in, though youâd never admit it. His presence was magnetic in a way you couldnât quite explain, drawing attention without even trying. He laughed too loud, flashed that mischievous grin too easily, and had the audacity to look good doing it.
He was surrounded, of course. Angelina was at his side, rolling her eyes at something heâd said, but not enough to hide her smile. A couple of other faces hovered nearbyâgirls who leaned in a little too close, their laughter a little too eager.
You forced yourself to look away, focusing instead on Alicia, who was recounting some outrageous story involving a Niffler and a stolen bracelet.
âAnd thenâare you even listening?â
You blinked, startled, and Alicia followed your gaze across the room. She smirked. âAh. Fred Weasley.â
You frowned. âWhat about him?â
âYou were practically drooling.â
âI was not.â
She laughed, leaning back in her chair. âDonât bother denying it. Everyone looks at him like that at least once. Itâs infuriating, isnât it?â
âWhat is?â
âHow bloody charming he is.â
You rolled your eyes but didnât argue. Infuriating was a good word for it.
It wasnât until later in the night, after the crowd had thinned and Alicia had gone off to dance with some guy you didnât recognize, that Fred approached you.
âMind if I sit?â he asked, already sliding into the chair across from you.
You glanced up, startled. âUh, sure?â
His grin widened, and you felt an unwelcome flutter in your chest. âYouâre Aliciaâs friend, right? Iâve seen you around. Iâm Fred.â
âI know who you are.â
âDo you?â He leaned forward, resting his chin in his hand. âShould I be flattered or concerned?â
You narrowed your eyes, refusing to rise to the bait. âDepends.â
âOn?â
âWhether or not youâre about to use that ridiculous charm of yours to try and get in my pants.â
He laughedâa genuine, full-bodied sound that caught you off guard. âMerlin, youâre sharp, arenât you? I like that.â
âI wasnât trying to be likable.â
âEven better.â
You shook your head, unsure whether to be annoyed or amused. He was persistent, youâd give him that.
âSo,â he said, leaning back in his chair. âWhy are you here, all tucked away in the corner like some kind of mysterious enigma?â
âMysterious enigma?â
âItâs the best I could come up with on short notice. Donât judge me.â
This time, you couldnât stop the small smile that crept onto your face. âI didnât want to come tonight. Alicia dragged me here.â
âWell, remind me to thank her later,â he said, his tone light but his eyes unexpectedly serious.
You hesitated, caught off guard by the shift. For a moment, you wondered if there might be more to Fred Weasley than the charming facade.
But then someone called his nameâa girl, predictablyâand the moment passed.
Fred glanced over his shoulder, his grin returning as he waved her off. When he turned back to you, he seemed almost reluctant.
âDuty calls,â he said, rising from his chair. âBut donât be a stranger, yeah?â
âWhy would I be anything else?â
His laughter followed him as he walked away, and you were left alone, staring at your now-empty glass and wondering what, exactly, had just happened.
&
Diagon Alley was unusually quiet for a Saturday afternoon. The crisp autumn air carried the faint scent of roasted chestnuts from a nearby cart, mingling with the earthy smell of parchment and ink that clung to the shopfront of Flourish and Blotts. You had come to pick up a new quill, your old one having finally succumbed to overuse during a particularly tedious set of reports.
As you stepped out of the shop, quill and a small stack of books tucked under your arm, you nearly collided with someone coming in the opposite direction.
âCareful there,â came the familiar voice, low and teasing.
Fred Weasley.
You took a step back, startled, and looked up to find him grinning down at you. His hair was windswept, cheeks slightly flushed from the cold, and he had the same effortless energy that seemed to follow him everywhere.
âDo you make a habit of running into people, or am I just lucky?â he asked.
âOnly the particularly unfortunate,â you replied, stepping aside to let him pass.
âUnfortunate?â He raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. âHere I thought youâd be thrilled to see me.â
You rolled your eyes, though you couldnât quite suppress the small smile tugging at your lips. âWhat are you doing here, anyway? Donât tell me youâre in need of a good book.â
âIâll have you know Iâm an avid reader,â he said, placing a hand over his chest in mock offense. âIn fact, I was just about to pick up aââ He paused, glancing over your stack of books. âWhatâs this? âThe Art of Brewing Potent Potionsâ? Didnât take you for the potion-making type.â
You shifted the books slightly, suddenly self-conscious. âIâm not. Itâs for a friend.â
âAh,â he said, nodding solemnly. âA likely story.â
âDo you ever stop talking?â
âNot if I can help it.â
Despite yourself, you laughedâa small, involuntary sound that you quickly tried to stifle. Fred noticed, of course, and his grin softened into something warmer, more genuine.
âWell, Iâd hate to keep you from your important potion-related business,â he said after a moment, stepping aside to let you pass.
âImportant quill-related business, actually,â you corrected, holding up the bag in your hand.
âAh, of course. How could I forget?â
You shook your head, already turning to leave, but his voice stopped you.
âWait,â he said, his tone shifting slightly.
You turned back, surprised to see something uncertain flicker across his face. It was gone almost as quickly as it had appeared, replaced by his usual confidence, but it left you curious.
âLet me walk you back,â he said, gesturing down the street.
You hesitated, torn between instinctively brushing him off and the strange, unfamiliar pull you felt to say yes. In the end, the latter won out.
âAlright,â you said, falling into step beside him.
The walk back was filled with the kind of aimless chatter that felt oddly naturalâFred recounting some escapade involving a rogue charm and a very unhappy house-elf, you half-listening, half-watching the way his hands moved as he spoke.
When you finally reached your door, he paused, rocking back on his heels. âWell, this is me,â you said, nodding towards the entrance.
Fred nodded, his grin returning. âGood to know. Iâll keep this in mind for next time.â
âNext time?â
âSure,â he said, already stepping away. âYouâre not getting rid of me that easily.â
And with that, he turned and walked off, leaving you standing in the doorway with a faint smile and a strange, fluttering feeling in your chest.
&
The weeks that followed your second encounter were marked by an unexpected rhythm.
Fred had a way of showing upânot at your door like expected, but in the spaces in between. He had a knack for making himself unavoidable, though never in an overbearing way. Youâd catch him at the tea shop near your office, juggling two mugs precariously in his hands and grinning at you as if it were fate. Or in the park, where heâd be charming a group of kids with conjured fireworks, his laughter echoing over the treetops.
âI swear, youâre everywhere,â you said one afternoon when you bumped into him yet again outside Flourish and Blotts.
âOr maybe youâre just not very good at avoiding me,â he replied, his grin maddeningly confident.
Despite your best efforts, the barriers youâd carefully constructed began to shift, piece by piece. It started with the smallest of gesturesâhim carrying your books when your arms were full, sneaking you a bag of your favorite sweets when he somehow discovered your weakness for honey drops. The conversations, too, began to stretch beyond the surface, slipping into territory you werenât entirely comfortable with but couldnât resist exploring.
âTell me something youâve never told anyone,â Fred said one evening, his voice softer than usual.
You had both ended up in the same quiet corner of The Leaky Cauldronâpure coincidence, or so he claimed. He leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, and for once, his usual smirk was nowhere to be found.
âWhy would I do that?â you asked, deflecting with a raised eyebrow.
âBecause Iâd like to know,â he said simply.
You hesitated, your fingers brushing the rim of your mug. The question had an intimacy to it that made you feel vulnerable, and yet, there was something about the way he looked at youâlike he could see straight through the walls you kept up.
âIâm scared of not being good enough,â you blurted before you could stop yourself.
Fred blinked, surprised by your honesty, but his expression quickly softened. âGood enough for what?â
âFor anything. Everything,â you admitted, your voice quieter now. âI donât know. Itâs stupid.â
âItâs not,â he said firmly, his gaze steady. âAnd for the record, I think youâre more than good enough.â
The moment lingered, delicate and raw, before you cleared your throat and changed the subject. Fred let you, but the look in his eyes stayed with you long after youâd said goodnight.
As time passed, your world seemed to orbit closer to his. He found reasons to seek you out, and you found yourself looking forward to his presence, even when you tried to convince yourself otherwise.
One evening, he brought you to his joke shop after hours, proudly showing you prototypes of new products. His enthusiasm was infectious, his face lighting up as he explained the intricacies of a new line of trick wands.
âWhy do I feel like youâre trying to recruit me?â you teased as he handed you one to test.
âBecause I am,â he said without hesitation. âYouâd be great at it. Youâve got a good eye for details, and you donât take my nonsense too seriously.â
âSomeone has to keep you grounded.â
Fred grinned. âExactly. Thatâs why youâre perfect for the job.â
You laughed, shaking your head, but something warm and unspoken passed between you.
It wasnât long before people began to notice.
The first comment came from a colleague at work, offhand and seemingly harmless. âYou and Fred Weasley seem awfully friendly,â they said, their tone laced with just enough curiosity to make you feel self-conscious.
The whispers followed soon afterâbarely audible at first but growing louder with each passing day. Fredâs reputation preceded him, and people were quick to remind you of it.
âEveryone knows heâs a flirt. Donât get your hopes up.â
âHeâs not exactly the relationship type.â
The words wormed their way into your mind, sowing seeds of doubt. You began to notice the way people looked at you when you were with him, their gazes heavy with judgment or pity.
Fred, oblivious to the change, continued to treat you the sameâwarm, attentive, and maddeningly Fred. But the whispers weighed on you, and before long, you found yourself pulling back.
The first time you ignored his owl, it felt like a betrayal. The second time, it felt like self-preservation. By the third, it had become a habit.
Fred noticed, of course, though he didnât understand.
âHave I done something wrong?â he asked one day, cornering you outside the tea shop where heâd so often âaccidentallyâ run into you.
âNo,â you lied, refusing to meet his eyes.
âYouâre avoiding me.â
âIâm not.â
âYou are.â
The hurt in his voice was almost too much to bear, but you held firm. The walls youâd rebuilt were sturdy now, bolstered by fear and the voices of those whoâd warned you to stay away.
Fred watched you for a long moment, his expression unreadable, before stepping back. âAlright,â he said quietly. âIf thatâs what you want.â
You told yourself it was. But as he walked away, the ache in your chest suggested otherwise.
The days after your confrontation with Fred dragged on, every hour stretching unbearably long. You told yourself you were doing the right thing, retreating before you got too close, before the inevitable heartbreak. But the certainty that had driven you to push him away began to waver in his absence.
You didnât realize how much space Fred had occupied in your life until it was suddenly empty. The silence felt heavier now. Your tea breaks were lonely, lacking his easy laughter. Even the parks seemed duller without the sound of him enchanting children with his conjured fireworks.
Work became a refugeâa place where you could bury yourself in tasks and avoid thinking about him. But even there, his presence lingered. The bag of honey drops heâd given you sat unopened in your desk drawer. Youâd thought about tossing it a dozen times, but your hand always hesitated, as though getting rid of it would make the loss of him too real.
It was during one of these long, quiet days that you overheard them.
âI heard sheâs been seeing Fred Weasley,â someone said behind you in the tearoom.
Your stomach dropped, and you froze, pretending to stir sugar into your tea.
âSheâs deluded if she thinks heâs serious about her,â another voice replied. âFred Weasley doesnât settle down. Sheâs just a bit of fun, like all the others.â
Their laughter echoed in your ears, sharp and grating. You forced yourself to walk out calmly, but their words stayed with you. By the time you got home, theyâd grown into a roar in your mind, impossible to ignore.
He deserves better. Someone more exciting, more confident. Someone who isnât scared of taking up space in his life.
The thoughts clawed at you as you sat at your desk, staring at the parchment in front of you.
You donât belong in his world.
Your hand moved before you could stop it, the quill scratching out the words you thought would sever the tie cleanly. The letter was short, clinical, void of the emotions tearing through you.
âFred, I think itâs best we go our separate ways. Thank you for everything. Take care.â
The owl flew off with it before you could change your mind, its silhouette disappearing into the night. The moment it was gone, the finality of it hit you like a curse.
You curled up in bed that night, the ache in your chest feeling like a physical weight. You told yourself it was for the best. But deep down, you started to think youâd made a mistake.
You waited for him to show up at your door, demanding answers in his usual larger-than-life way. But Fred didnât come.
At first, you convinced yourself that his silence was proof that you were rightâhe wasnât serious about you. But as the days turned into a week, the void he left behind became unbearable.
It was Alicia who finally forced you to confront it.
âYouâve been sulking for days,â she said, plopping down on your couch uninvited. âWhat happened?â
âNothing,â you mumbled, not looking up from the book you werenât actually reading.
Alicia snatched the book out of your hands, her sharp gaze piercing. âYou donât look like this over ânothing.â Spill.â
You hesitated, but the words came spilling out anywayâthe whispers, the letter, the crushing fear that youâd never be enough for someone like Fred.
When you finished, Alicia looked at you as though youâd just told her you planned to live on the moon.
âYouâre an idiot,â she said bluntly.
âThanks,â you muttered, burying your face in your hands.
âIâm serious,â Alicia said, her voice softening. âFred isnât like that. Not with you. Do you have any idea how he lights up when he talks about you?â
Your chest tightened at her words, but you shook your head. âHeâs Fred Weasley. He lights up for everyone.â
âNo,â she said firmly. âNot like this. Trust me, Iâve seen him flirt a hundred times. This isnât flirting, love. Heâs serious about you. And if you canât see that, youâre going to regret it.â
Her words haunted you that night as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. By the time morning came, you knew you couldnât leave things as they were.
The shop was quiet when you arrived, the familiar smell of wood polish and faint smoke lingering in the air. You knocked hesitantly, and Fred appeared in the doorway moments later, his expression unreadable.
âHey,â you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
Fred stepped aside without a word, letting you in. The silence between you was suffocating, the usually lively space feeling oddly hollow.
You fidgeted with the edge of your sleeve, searching for the right words. âIââ
Fred cut you off. âWhy are you here?â His voice was calm, but there was an edge to it that made your chest tighten.
âI⌠I wanted to explain,â you said, your throat dry.
âExplain what?â he asked, his arms crossed. âWhy you decided to shut me out without a real reason?â
The hurt in his voice cracked something inside you. âI was scared,â you admitted. âOf getting hurt. Of not being enough.â
Fred stared at you for a long moment, his expression softening as he stepped closer. âWhy would you think that?â
âBecause everyone saysââ
âTo hell with what everyone says,â Fred interrupted, his voice fierce. âI donât care what they think. The only person whose opinion matters is yours.â
You swallowed hard, your voice trembling. âI didnât know if you were serious. About me.â
Fred reached out, taking your hands in his. âIâm as serious as it gets,â he said quietly. âBut I canât make you believe that. You have to let yourself believe it.â
The tears youâd been holding back spilled over, and Fred gently pulled you into his arms. His embrace was warm, steady, and everything you hadnât realized youâd needed.
âIâm sorry,â you whispered against his chest.
Fred pressed a kiss to your hair, his voice soft but certain. âYouâre the only one I want.â
When you finally pulled back, his hands lingered on your face, his thumbs brushing away the last of your tears. The look in his eyes was so full of warmth and determination that you felt the last of your doubts dissolve.
When he kissed you, it wasnât just a promiseâit was a beginning.

The Main Event (Multiple Pairings) Part 1
Can be read as a standalone but also (Part 8 in the Blind Items AU A/N: Its my nineteenth birthday 𼳠I wanted to write about adults being happy in different stages of their life because I am so scared of growing up and the thought of not being a teenager next year makes me nauseous. Enjoy! Each pairing has a Blind Items backstory which is linked at the start of their section (You don't have to read the backstory, though) Multiple (separate) Pairings: Logan Sargeant x Leclerc!reader, Oscar Piastri x reader, Charles Leclerc x reader, Lando Norris x reader, Lance Stroll x reader, Lewis Hamilton x reader, Alexander Albon x reader in the next part Summary: A wedding between Logan Sargeant and the youngest Leclerc child means a very interesting guest list, in which all previous victims of the F1 Blind Items account are included.
Oscar Piastri
âDude, how come you are more nervous about my own wedding than I am?â Logan asked.
Oscar rolled his eyes and scoffed, pretending what the American was saying was ridiculous, as he nervously picked at his nails, trying to hide his trembling hands. Logan just laughed at his friend's failed attempt at nonchalance.
âItâs just- Iâm nervous about the media inserting themselves in the events today. I mean I donât want to have my toddlers in the spotlight any more than they already are.â Oscar explained. After being forced to reveal his kids to the world before he nor his fiancĂŠe were ready, and after just a few interviews and racing events the kids attended, Oscar didnât want to give the media much more for the time being.
âWow, way to make my wedding about you.â Logan teased, trying to relieve the utter look of anxiety and despair on Oscarâs face. But the Mclaren driver just shot him an unamused glare. âLook, I have told you time and time again if you donât want them as flower girls- or kids, Iâd gladly make my brother frolick down the aisle throwing petals. As much as I love my honorary niece and nephew, nothing would make me happier than making Dalton do that.â
This finally got a laugh out of Oscar. âThey have been practicing too much to do that, we would be in for a shit storm if you tried to take away their time to shine.â It had been a big thing in the Piastri household for the past few months. Every second of every day, Frances and Hudson had been asking their parents questions about what weddings were like, how they should walk down the aisle, and if they had to see uncle Logan kiss his wife (they were not amused by the idea of having to see that). Not to mention the hundreds of times they forced their parents to watch how they would walk down the aisle, asking what they thought and ignoring any criticisms given to them (they saw no reason as to why they shouldnât be allowed to dance and sing while throwing petals).Â
âThen calm down. If all goes well there wonât be any media there, I mean I think we have done a pretty good job at making sure no one outside the event knows about it. Plus, no offense but there are plenty of people with far more interesting stories and scandals than your family. The tabloids are bored with yâall now that there isnât anything new to expose.â Maybe a harsh way of putting it, but it was true, there were plenty of Formula 1 couples who had been exposed by the media for various reasons in attendance today.Â
âRight. Got to say, Logan, the guestlist is impressive. I mean could you imagine telling your 13 year old self that the Lewis Hamilton would be attending your wedding?â Oscar asked. Even after a few years racing against the guy, the shock from being around him never wore off. He just had that âgreatest of all timeâ energy.
âI canât even take the credit for much of it though. It's the bride who brought all the biggest names.â Logan rolled his eyes playfully. It was true though, his wife-to-be had made friends with all the biggest names in the world and they werenât half assed friendships either. She could make even the tiniest of acquaintances feel like longtime companionships. She could make everyone feel so unbelievably loved and cherished in such a short time.
God he couldnât wait to marry her.Â
Oscar laughed at the lovesick grin on his friendâs face. Usually heâd tease him, but he decided maybe he should just cut the man some slack on his wedding day.Â
But the urge was too great he couldnât let Logan go unteased, before he could do so though-
âDad! Dad! Dad! Look, me and Fran match!â Oscarâs son, Hudson, ran into the room, his sister following after him.
The two seemed to light up in their soft blue outfits.
âDonât you two look awesome!â Logan said from behind the twins, making them turn around. âYou guys look better than me on my own wedding day.â
The toddlers shouted in excitement as they ran to their favorite honorary uncle (much to Landoâs chagrin. He fought hard for that title).
âYou two ready to be the stars of the show? Throwing petals ainât easy work.â He said as he crouched down to hug the toddlers.
Oscar rolled his eyes. Leave it to Logan to make his own children completely uninterested in him. Fortunately, someone who was actually interested in him entered the room after them. His wonderful fiancĂŠe.
âYou look gorgeous, honey.â Oscar said awestruck.
âYou saw me in this earlier.â She deadpanned.Â
âLet a man compliment his fincĂŠe, will you?â Holding her close to him, kissing her deeply. It was only when the two werenât cut off with toddler âewwsâ and âstop grossssâ that they looked back at their children, currently in a⌠dance competition with the groom. âGlad to see how much they care for us.â Oscar sighed, feeling childish jealousy.Â
âLet him entertain them, heâll get some more practice for when he has his own kids.â
âHeâs too young, honey. He is about to get married, he doesn't need to think about that right now.â Oscar scoffed, feeling offended for his children that Logan would ever dethrone his honorary niece and nephew from being his favorite kids.
âSays the man who had two kids by 18 and has been engaged twice, but not married, by 23.â Honey amused.
He blushed at the reminder that their relationship had been done a bit⌠backwards.
âThey already have an officiant and audience, maybe we can just jump in with the bride and groom, two birds with one stone.â
âNope! I already have two Piastriâs taking the spotlight today, I donât need more.â Logan said while both twins climbed all over him.
Charles Leclerc (And the Leclerc Co.)
Normally, hard launching your child was not something a bride would encourage on her wedding day, but as the youngest Leclerc child, Charlesâ sister loved the drama. Hence why her nephew was making his debut to the public as the ring bearer. Only a month old, the media hadnât gotten to meet the cutie as he was born right at the start of winter break. It brought tears to his eyes, how insistent his baby sister was on having her nephew involved in her wedding. It was already an emotional day for Charles, who felt like he was losing his first baby as he walked her down the aisle and sent her off into her future, but he truly couldnât be happier.
And doing it with his son by his side just made it all the more memorable.Â
âHoney?â Charlesâ girlfriend called as she popped her head into the room he was getting ready in. In her arms was their newborn who, while still so small, broke everyoneâs heart at how big he was getting. âOh, my love, are you seriously crying again?â she asked as he tried to inconspicuously wipe away his tears.
Being reminded that he had just been crying only made him start to cry more.
âCharlie, you are more emotional than I was while pregnant. What is going on with you today?â
âIt is stupid, Iâm sorry. It's just- it was yesterday my sister was in my arms, having just been born, and now she is getting married and the American is taking her away.â
If there was one thing the Leclerc brothers loved to do, it was make fun of their soon to be brother-in-law. They truly did love Logan, but it was so easy to pick on him and he was far too polite to try anything with them yet. If you asked them, they would say they are just treating him like the brother he is, but they also just really love how much it pissed their sister off, who will certainly be defending him.Â
âOh, sweetheart, she isnât going anywhere. They are still going to live in Monaco, and you race with her husband almost every weekend. If anything now that they are married you will see more of her.âÂ
It was true. Even if the Leclerc brothers had a strict ban on dating drivers, they had to admit that their sister had found a good partner in Logan. A man who was driving alongside Charles, had been on the same team as Arthur in the past, and knew just how important and difficult the sport was on family.Â
Giving her boyfriend a quick kiss on the cheek after wiping his tears from his face, Charlesâ partner went on to try and fix the mess of hair that her lover was currently fighting.Â
The Leclercâs had terrible bed heads, something that unfortunately had already been seen in the first grandson, even at just a month old his hair was thick and unmanageable.Â
Fortunately, Charles had calmed down enough that he was no longer a complete mess when his brothers entered the room. If Charles knew anything about his brotherâs (and his sister) it was that such tears would have led to him being teased for the rest of his life about it.Â
âHave you seen her?â Charles asked Enzo, hoping for any indication on how their sister was doing, having been too busy setting up for the wedding and taking care of his son to check on the bride thoroughly.
Arthur rolled his eyes, âWhen we tried to see her, Maman wouldnât let us in.â
âWhy? Is something wrong?â Charlesâ girlfriend asked, the same level of concern in her voice displayed accross Charlesâ face.Â
âNo, no, the bride said she wanted to have a little moment with the four of us before the wedding, so she didnât want us to see anything before.â Enzo explained. He had understood her sentiment, Arthur⌠not so much.
Letting out a breath at the confirmation that nothing was wrong, Charles sat quietly while he got his hair tamed, his brothers playing with their nephew in the back.
It was a sight that almost brought tears to Pascaleâs eyes, but she had already cried so much and she knew she needed to save the rest of her tears for the ceremony. Her three boys, all in different stages of their lives, all dressed up and ready to support their baby sister on her big day.Â
There was a sense of love and excitement in the air, reminding her of when her daughter had first been born, her older brothers hardly able to sit still while they waited in anticipation. Though everyone was calm now, having gotten most of their childish impatience out of their system, those feelings hadnât changed.Â
âSomeone wants to see you all.â She spoke up, getting the attention of her boys. Charlesâ girlfriend pressed a kiss to his cheek and took their son from his uncles, wanting to give the Leclerc siblings a moment alone.Â
âMy goodness, you look stunning.â She said to the bride as she walked through the doorway before leaving. This made all the brotherâs perk up, losing the rest of their patience as they waited to see their baby sister.
The second she stepped into the room and tears welled up in everyoneâs eyes, the Leclercs knew it was going to be a long day full of bittersweet melancholy, but also one so full of love.
Lando Norris
âHave I told you how wonderful you looked?â Lando asked, grabbing his girlfriendâs hand as he ran his thumb over her knuckles.
She rolled her eyes, âOnly a thousand times since we got in the car. Not to mention when I was getting ready, when I was trying on dresses, or when I was simply speaking to you about what I was thinking of wearing.â She teased.
He knew it was overkill, but he also knew how stressed she was. Not about the wedding, she was excited to attend and celebrate, but of the fact she knew sheâd finally be identified as Lando Norrisâs âunremarkableâ girlfriend the tabloids have talked about for a while.Â
The media knew he was dating not a model, or heir to a fortune, or an influencer, but a âsimpleâ teacher, one who had a private instagram account with hardly 100 people on it. They had seen what pictures Lando posted of her, maybe a few posted by friends, but they never showed her face. They didnât even know her name.
Even though their words were harsh, even though it hurt they thought she was undeserving of him when they didnât know her, the anonymity at least came with the sentiment that all their judgements came from one simple fact, that she was a teacher. Now, they would have more to criticize, more to know, and she hated the thought.
Despite the public not knowing about her though, she had still been able to become good friends with many of Landoâs. Had been present for many arguments between Logan and Lando as they defended their individual titles of being âthe best honorary uncleâ to the Piastri twins and had been there to help watch the toddlers so Oscarâs fiancĂŠe could get a bit of a break during races.Â
She loved so many of the people there, and she knew they all had her back. Because of this, she felt more ready to face the music. She shouldnât be ashamed of who she was, she loved everything about her life, and she wouldnât be made to feel bad for loving Lando.Â
In the end, it was what the two of them thought and felt about their relationship that mattered.Â
Lando smiled as he watched her take a deep breath, ready for what was to come. Heâd move heaven and the earth for her, and he for sure wasnât going to let some idiots online ruin something so good.
Lance Stroll
âYou must have the worst heartburn, huh?â A mutual friend of a friend, Marie, asked.
âOh, well actually-â
âUgh it was so bad! And the indigestion, that really sucked. Oh! Reminds me of this one awful stretch of time when I was pregnant. I was actually also at a weddingâŚâ Marie started on a tangent about some pregnancy horror story. One the currently pregnant woman she was talking to, didnât appreciate hearing at the moment.
Lance looked over at his wife, stuck in conversation looking pained. Fearing that something was wrong with her or the baby, he quickly made his way over with an excuse to whisk her away.
âAre you alright?â He asked once out of earshot of Marie.Â
His wife opened her mouth to answer, but was unable to when a choked sound made its way out first. The sound attracted the eyes of several wedding guests, who upon seeing that she was pregnant, turned back to their conversations, finding that as the excuse for such an outburst. While she was embarrassed when all eyes turned to her, the lack of interest in her wellbeing after seeing her belly just made her start to sob even more.
Knowing his wife was in distress and clearly the crowded room was adding to the discomfort, Lance led her to an unoccupied hallway.Â
âCome on, hun. How can I make this better?â Sweetness, with a bit of helplessness, in his tone.
You-you canât!â She cried. God, how was she ever supposed to explain what the hell was happening with her. Especially when each second, she felt differently.
Maybe that was the problem.Â
âIâm- I am so tired of being the pregnant lady.â She managed to get out.
Lance frowned at the confession. âI know, love. I canât imagine what it's like to be pregnant, and I wish I could help. I know it sucks, but you can get through-â
âStop! That's the problem. Every single issue I have is written off as something that just happens with pregnancy. Like they are just side effects that canât be helped! Like I just need to deal with them alone because âI signed up for thisâ. Maybe it sounds stupid or childish but I donât give a fuck anymore, Lance. I donât want to be treated like some pregnant lady, I don't want to be treated as if every single emotion I have is just because of hormones or because all women are just expected to suffer through this! Marie just came up to me and started talking about her own horror stories from when she was pregnant! I donât want to hear that, not when she isnât giving actual advice, just trying to laugh about things I, as the currently pregnant person, donât find funny! I donât want to talk about how I am so hungry and have people laugh and say âoh that's just what happensâ. I want to get food! I want to be able to be upset without people losing interest the second they realize it's just the pregnant lady crying. I want the things I'm going through to be taken seriously, Lance.â
A beat of silence as he took in her words.Â
As the silence stretched on though, she found herself with an apology forming on the tip of her tongue, feeling bad for yelling at her husband during her tangent when, even if he had contributed to the problem, he didnât really do anything wrong.Â
Just as she opened her mouth though, he got on his phone.Â
She started to not feel as bad as she watched her husband seemingly ignore all she said.
âAre you-â She began, just to be cut off by him putting his phone in his pocket, and kissing her deeply.
Most of her anger seemed to disappear at that moment. He hadnât kissed her like that in what felt like forever. Since she had told him she had been pregnant, he had been unsure of how to go about doing⌠well, anything.Â
After a few passionately blissful seconds, he pulled away, still holding her face between his hands and stroking her cheek with his thumbs. âI ordered a car to take us to a crappy fast food place.â
She stammered, âWhat do- why?â
âYou said you are hungry, the ceremony hasnât even begun yet, we are going to be here for a while before we can eat and while Iâm sure the bride and groom have an amazing set up, there isnât a point in making you suffer any longer when we can fix it.â he explained.
She didnât know what to say. She wanted to agree, but she also wanted to support their friends and knew she probably shouldnât skip out on their wedding day. But she really needed something to eat and her feet were killing her already-Â
âNo, Lance, we shouldnât it- it would be rude.â She answered.
Lance laughed at her attempt at trying to convince both herself and him. âAs much as Iâd love to stay, Iâd much rather watch you eat a disgusting amount of fast food in an impressively short amount of time all the while dressed to the nines. Plus, we both know the bride and groom would be understanding.â He said as he grabbed her purse and opened the door for her. âAfter you, my love.âÂ
She sighed, realizing he was right.Â
âOh how gentlemanly of you,â she teased in a posh accent. âIs it often you whisk away distressed damsels to fast food restaurants?âÂ
âOnly the gorgeous ones. I did earn my nickname of Sir Lancelot from my wife for a reason.â He teased back.
âIt seems you have.â She replied with a kiss on the cheek.
Lewis Hamilton
âOh, sweet pea. You look stunning!â Lewis said as he facetimed his daughter, currently at home with her mom.
The young girl giggled at the compliment, asking her dad about the wedding. She had been more than curious about weddings lately after hearing that her dad was attending one.Â
â-and the bride wears a beautiful white dressâ
âLike the one mommy is wearing?â she asked her dad, pointing to the oversized t-shirt her mom was wearing with paint stains on it from when she and her partner had painted the nursery for the 1 year old currently asleep in said room. Lewis laughed at the image.
âWhile I am sure your mommy could wear that and still be the most beautiful girl in the world. A wedding dress is a little⌠different.â Lewis answered.
âMommy! Can I see your wedding dress?â her daughter asked.
Both parents froze at the question, realizing they might have not told their child a pretty important detail about her parents.Â
âOh- honey. Daddy and I never got married.â She answered. Her daughter looked back at the phone, at her dad, confused.
âDad? Why didnât you marry mommy? Donât you love her?âÂ
Harsh. Lewis didnât know how to answer such a question, but he eventually found the words.Â
âSweetheart, you know I love your mom very much. You are all my most favorite girls. Some people just donât get married, they donât feel the need to.â He answered. It wasnât that the two of them didnât want to, they had planned on it. But their first daughter had been unplanned, then their second had been too, and eventually, as they became everything to one another, they didnât have a wedding so high on their priority list, knowing the proof of their love was evident in the two girls they were raising, in the life they had built together despite many unwanted opinions trying to ruin it.Â
âLet me talk to your dad sweetie. Can you grab my water from the living room?â His girlfriend asked as her daughter handed her the phone and jumped off the bed.
After the sound of the young girlâs footsteps softened in the background, she spoke up, âSorry about that, Lew, she saw a photo of some celebrity wedding today and her interest in the topic was reignited.â
âShe is a curious kid, I get it. She is a smart one too, she gets it from her mother.â He watched his girlfriend blush at the compliment. Even while tired having to take care of the two young children alone, she seemed to be glowing. âWe never did get around to marriage, did we?âÂ
She sighed, âI guess we got too busy. I hadnât even thought about it in a while- not that I donât want to marry you still!â
He laughed at her realization she may have chosen her words wrong, âNo, I havenât either. Two kids is a lot, and we both know how we feel about each other. But I will always be ready to marry you, the second you say so.â
âWell, Iâll always be ready to marry you, after you properly propose. You already got two kids out of me, I at least deserve a big flashy ring.â She teased.
âAnd you shall have it my love.â Lewis suddenly heard his daughter coming back. He spoke up when he saw her pop back up on screen, âWhat do you think, love bug? Should mommy and daddy get married? I think your mom would look beautiful in a big white dress, right?â
The little girl perked up at that, âYes! But, will it be hard for mommy to wear a dress with the baby in her tummy?â She asked, pointing to her momâs stomach.
Both adults froze.Â
Slowly, Lewisâ girlfriend let out a deep sigh. âBaby, I told you not to talk about that with daddy till we could tell himâŚâ
If his eyes opened any wider, they would have popped out of his head. âSheâs serious? We are having another baby?â
âSurprise? I wanted to keep it a secret till you came back and make it all special but she was so sad when you left I told her to cheer her up.â
Lewisâ heart softened at the thought, âWell, I guess a wedding might have to be postponed for the time beingâ He amused.
Theyâd get around to it, maybe after this next kid, maybe after the next few.

letâs play a game!
a game i used to play with my cousins when we were young and its how i shifted when i was 5.
game rules:
-you have no limits you can even shape shift and have super powers!
-let go of the outer world because once the game starts you become who you chose to be.
-choose someone to play the game with for better acting but you can still act alone.
now lets start!
choose your desire.
choose someone to play the game with (optional).
the outer world and any worries or thoughts related to the 3d donât exist anymore once the game starts.
start the game and have fun! you are now in your desired world!!!.
end game whenever desired but make sure to have fun!.
now why does this work?
because you are now embodying your desired self and forgetting about your old self/world and youâre just letting it be
you wont care anymore about what you see because you have it now!
you accept your imagination as the real and only reality no matter what you see and the game is actually fun because you can have wtv you want with no limits
actually once you accept the game as real you will notice that your imagination will align with your desires by itself which means that the 3d will start reflecting your desires!
im gonna give you 2 examples
example-1
lets say that you want to shift to your favorite movie or series. now start the game and once it starts your house becomes your dr house, your parents? dr parents or characters, your siblings? your dr siblings or friends. remember when you were a kid and you acted like you had super powers and stuff? literally do the same thing you used to do thats how you act as if. it has always been fun and it was never like a chore.
example-2
lets say that you want a different appearance. literally talk to yourself about how you look so gorgeous and how you look exactly like you how want. every time you walk see your desired body walking, every time you look in the mirror you are actually seeing your desired face. literally when you are walking in the streets everyone is seeing you with your desired appearance and imagine all the compliments theyre thinking of if not saying.
the reason i like this is that you dont have to close your eyes and affirm or imagine as if its a chore or smth and then go back to your old story. no you have your desires now and you are actually living it and its fun because its a game! you can even include other people in it which makes it more fun. and this way doesnât separate the 3d from the 4d which imo is much better

well since i can already tell that weâre all going to be subjected to the same old tired mai & mai.ko discourse for the foreseeable future, letâs get it clear right now that the atla comics have never been, and will never be acceptable mediums of character development, and hereâs why:
1. the comics are given the benefit of hindsight, which impairs organic character growth.
itâs become extremely clear over the last few years that many of the comics are made as, or include, direct responses to criticisms of the original show â especially when it comes to katara, mai, and the canon pairings. aang didnât ask katara for consent? look, heâs checking if he can kiss her! mai doesnât care about fire nation imperialism? here, sheâs an anti fascist! iroh was a creep to june? donât worry, here he is apologising!
many of the things the characters do or say in the comics feel unnatural because they are not written as characters, but as mouthpieces for the creators to address fandom complaints from the original show.
âbut thatâs good, right? theyâre trying to make it better!â i mean⌠sure? it still doesnât change the fact that itâs damage control, and that no matter what stories span the middle, the arcs of these characters still begin and end with avatar: the last airbender, and the legend of korra, both of which are fixed and immutable. the comics cannot retroactively fix the issues of either show, because theyâve already been defined as the goalposts of the charactersâ lives, and there is no way to undo that.
itâs like if you eat a meal that isnât to your satisfaction, and maybe the chief makes you another dish, which is all well and good â but it doesnât fix the fact that the original meal still sucked! sometimes, accepting criticism means accepting that thereâs no way to go back and fix it but to do better next time, with the next story you wish to tell.
if the legend of korra didnât exist, and the arcs of the characters were left open after atla, then maybe there would be for the room for the comics to function as character development if not for the fact thatâŚ
2. the comics are intended for a very different audience than the show.
itâs obvious that the audience for the original show vastly outnumbers the audience for the comics, likely by thousands, if not millions. this isnât the mcu, where the installation of any atla property is vital to understanding the next, and so on. you can skip the comics and miss nothing whatsoever (and honestly your life would be far improved by doing so).
those who read the comics are likely only the real diehard fans of the show â and the creators know this, which is why we have the whole issue of point one above. but this difference in audience matters, because it reflects the significance of the story being told, and how important it is for the audience to know it. this is why, if the charactersâ development and storylines in the comics truly, genuinely mattered, it would have been in the show already.
iâm not saying that the gaang wouldnât have continued to grow and change post-atla, but generally stories exist as closed circuits, self-contained within themselves. when you end atla, youâre meant to believe that those arcs are finished. thatâs the whole reason the comics deal mostly with fun silly adventures, or with quick, temporary conflicts instead of grand, overarching narratives, because they are not truly meant to function as a continuation of the story of atla, or its characters.
(if you ask me frankly, theyâre meant to be nostalgia cash grabs, but thatâs neither here nor there.)
creator intention matters with the atla comics (or any atla property, in fact), because creator intention was the subject of criticism for the original show in the first place. why must we rely on the comics or the cookbook or avatar legends to tell us that katara did things with her life outside of aang? why do we need to turn to something released nearly two decades after atla to find any evidence that mai denounced the fire nationâs imperialist indoctrination, when sheâs romantically involved with one of the showâs most important characters? why are these stories relegated to a medium with far less reach, far too late?
the answer is that the writers didnât find those stories to be originally worth telling, and that is the real problem fans have been pointing out since 2008.
so, tldr:
#anti atla comics#anti bryke#anti kataang#anti maiko#of course this isnât even getting into the fact that for every supposed moment of character growth in the comics#thereâs like a dozen terrible moments of the most ooc nonsense#i still canât believe trees died for the atrocity that was the promise

Iâve said it before and Iâll say it again: forgiveness, or the way itâs often presented, is harmful. Thatâs one more gripe I have with season two. The way it frames âforgivenessâ(the idea that you are obligated to forgive someone lest you be âjust as bad as they areâ is problematic.)
Because for one, having Jinx apologize for killing Caitlynâs mom and vow to stop the âcycle of violenceâ doesnât make any sense. One, thatâs just not something Jinx would ever say. Two, the idea that Jinx killing some Councilors is anywhere near the same thing as Caitlyn becoming a dictator is laughable at best, and insulting to my intelligence at worst. Three, Caitlyn never apologizes or faces any meaningful consequences for her actions! Losing an eye was nothing! She shouldâve lost a hand at least and we shouldâve seen her reflect on her actions and pledge to do better for Zaun!!! Not just fuck off and ride off into the sunset after everything she did! And lastly, the âcycle of violenceâ literally isnât a cycle, itâs just one city oppressing the other for centuries and the other city deciding to fight back! This âcycleâ doesnât begin and end with Jinx and her attack on the Council, so framing it like Jinx is the one who has to take sole responsibility for fixing everything is nonsense.
âBut Arcane was never about heroes and villains, everything is morally gray!â You sound dumb. This is obviously a story with overt themes of oppression and revolution. Iâm not here to critique morality, Iâm here to critique its framing. Why are certain characters âjustifiedâ in their heinous actions but others donât get that luxury? Thatâs what Iâm talking about. Moving on, the problem with âforgivenessâ implies that itâs necessary, and the way people conflate forgiveness with letting someone have access to you after everything they did is the problem. You donât have to forgive someone if you donât want to. That doesnât make you âbitterâ nor does it mean youâre âholding a grudgeâ. There is a difference between forgiving someone and just removing yourself from the situation and becoming detached, imo. Thatâs what shouldâve been done with Caitlyn and Jinx. No one in Zaun shouldâve been shown dying for their oppressors because âteamworkâ nor should Sevika have been shoved on the Council to push this idea of âunityâ. Why would Sevika, a Zaunite who has never had and never will have any love for Piltover, be forced to cozy up with the Council? Why is the onus on her, as an oppressed person, to make nice with her oppressors? Why does the institution of Piltover, and people like Caitlyn who uphold that institution and wreak havoc on the underclass of Zaun, never have to answer for their crimes?
Answer: Because they(the writers) want to convince us that Jinx and Caitlyn, and by extension, Piltover and Zaun are âjust as badâ as each other, and that both sides need to work together to heal. Only problem with that is, the Piltover/Zaun conflict was not presented that way in season one. Iâm sure the writers want us to think itâs one city vs another, when thatâs not the case at all. In reality, itâs one city OVER the other, and now theyâre trying to convince us âboth sides are badâ. While itâs true that there ARE problems on both sides, the problems in Zaun literally wouldnât be problems if Piltover wasnât an oppressive institution. Why were the chem barons able to amass power? Because the systems Piltover set up left Zaun behind and allowed pier hungry people like Finn, Margo, Chross, and Smeech seize their opportunities for control. Why is there so much crime in Zaun? Again, because of Piltover. The class disparity that Piltover set up means the economic divide between the two cities is a chasm that grows wider and wider every day. People are forced to steal to eat. They join gangs out of necessity, not because they have to. Why did Jinx kill all those enforcers?
That shouldnât be the question. The real question is: Why does âJinxâ(as in, the persona Powder adopted to feel strong) even exist? Answer, once again, because of Piltover! Jinx is an oppressed person with severe mental health and self esteem issues that have been exacerbated as a result of the crooked system of Piltover. She saw her parents get killed by enforcers(militarized police force that carries out the will of the powers that be and is responsible for harassing, brutalizing, and over policing Zaun) right in front of her before she was even in the double digits. She was then adopted by Vander, but she had to struggle her whole life. Zaun doesnât even have air to BREATHE unless Piltover decides they deserve it. And thanks to Caitlyn, we get to see how even THAT gets weaponized when Zaun steps out of line. So if they donât have access to clean air, itâs safe to say that they also donât have access to the same quality food, water, shelter, clothing, economic, educational, or medical services that Piltovans do, just by virtue of living in Zaun. So you take a severely mentally ill little girl, systematically oppress her, and then clutch your pearls when she becomes violent and lashes out? Label her a âpsychoâ and a âmonsterâ for killing cops, gang members, and politicians while Caitlyn gets a happily ever after after everything she did? I thought âboth sidesâ were âjust as badâ. So why is Jinx the only one who meaningfully suffers? Why does Zaun as a whole always have to pay the price?
Lack of commitment. âTerroristâ is a loaded word thatâs been weaponized against marginalized people for ages now. Itâs another one to add to the list: angry, crazy, mad, belligerent, monster, savage, animal, etc. All these dehumanizing words are leveled at folks who get tired of taking shit lying down. Iâve never thought that Jinx was a âmonsterâ for killing cops, Councilors, or politicians. Never will. But the show clearly WANTS me to, as well as simultaneously wanting to see Caitlynâs actions a certain way. Iâve already made a post about why comparing or trying to equalize Caitlynâs actions and Jinxâs actions is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest imo. Think of it like a bully vs bullied type of thing. Thereâs this kid and his asshole friends who gets to bully you for weeks, months, or even years and face no repercussions. Then, one day you get fed up, and start fighting back. Whether that be with words, feet, fists, or what have you. If you go down, you go down swinging. When the dust settles, BOTH of yâall are getting disciplined(detention, suspended, expelled, not allowed to go on trips, etc) for âfightingâ. And thereâs a very good chance one of you will be punished much more harshly than the other. Even though you started fighting back. BACK being the operative word. Every single time this kid pushed, hit, kicked, punched, started rumors about, and isolated you, nothing was done. The one time you start fighting BACK, both of yâall get in trouble because the school has a âzero tolerance policyâ.
But you know thatâs not true. It canât be. Youâve been telling the teachers, guidance counselors, and vice principal about whatâs been going on. But nothing was done about it. Or if it was, you were the one who was told to move seats. Or switch to a different classroom. Or just ignore them. Or âmaybe theyâre lashing out cause they have problems going on at home.â It was nothing but excuses when you were getting pushed around. Now when you fight back itâs a problem. Now take that metaphor and apply it to Caitlyn and Jinx. Caitlyn is like that fat rich asshole with parents on the PTA who make hefty donations to the school. Jinx is like the scrawny little nobody who has no one to stick up for them. Piltover is the school system. Caitlynâs privilege isolated her from any meaningful consequences, while Jinxâs lack of privilege guaranteed sheâd face hefty consequences, much more than Caitlyn ever would.
Jinx has lost: her birth parents as a result of state sanctioned violence, her adoptive brothers, her sister, her best friend, her adoptive father, Silco, her sister again, her adoptive brother again, her new friend, her sense of self, her life(possibly) and she has to deal with being an oppressed person who struggles with mental health issues on top of all that. Caitlyn has lost: her mother, and her eye. Thatâs it. Sheâs never forced to give anything up. She never had to reckon with the reality of what it means to be not just a Piltie, but a Kiramman, and a dictator on top of that. We never see her be genuinely remorseful about her horrible actions in Zaun. Nor does she try to apologize to the people in Zaun or meaningfully make amends. No, Caitlyn gets to live in that big shiny house of hers with her father and girlfriend and the months she spent co-signing martial law will never be addressed. To bring it back to the bully vs bullied comparison, this means that Jinx would have been expelled for fighting back, while Caitlyn gets ISS(in school suspension). âBoth sides are badâ yeah well you clearly believe one side is worse! And itâs not the correct one!
Piltover is an oppressive, classist, ableist, and brutal institution. Caitlyn was the head of this institution for months after she experienced a fraction of what Zaunites have experienced for centuries. At the end of the day, Caitlynâs actions were brushed aside and she got her happy ending, though it wasnât deserved whatsoever. Meanwhile Jinx, Sevika, Ekko, Isha, countless other Zaunites, and Zaun as a whole did nothing but suffer their whole lives and now they have nothing to show for it. âBoth sides are badâ but the bad that the institution is responsible for is never called out, while the bad that the oppressed people did is blown out of proportion and they are severely punished for it.
And yes, I know Iâm talking about a mainstream television show with white/non black people in the writers room. I knew I was never gonna get the pro revolution story I wanted to see, and Iâve made peace with that. But, if they wanted to have a âboth sidesâ narrative so bad, then they shouldâve stuck with it. BOTH SIDES should have equally suffered and had to reckon with their wrongdoings. The responsibility for doing so shouldnât have solely been on the shoulders of the minority group. THATâS the crux of the issue. I was always gonna think âforgivenessâ was the cowardâs way out. But they never show Piltover apologizing. Only Zaun does, and thatâs not right.

YESSSSSSSS YES YES GOD. OH MY GODDDDDD. RIPPING MY SHIRT OFF LIKE THE HULK. YOU GET IT OP. I LOVE PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS (Says the aroace guy . Like okay fork found in kitchen cmon now)
No cuz LISTEN. romance and attraction is something that is constantly front in center in society as a wholeâŚ.its a lot more understood than friendship or familial relationships. so it probably makes SENSE to hugo at least in concept.
Attraction is understood by a lot of people as like a biological instinct (And obviously its more complex than that but thats the most Basic idea thats been held for most of history i think). And hugos definitely been Attracted to people before. I think he kind of just sees it as a nuisance tbh. He just tries to gaslight himself into pretending it isnt there.
But platonic loveâŚ.you dont have that physical reaction yknow??? I mean ive had what i can describe as platonic âcrushesâ before but itâs differentâŚ.It could be different for other people ofc but in my experience platonic love kind of sneaks up on you. You might not even really notice its there. One day youâll just be looking at someone and youâre like, âoh yeah. This one. Theyre the one. Theyre safe.â
They affect you in little ways. like influencing the way you think or the way you speak and you dont notice until someone points it out. Youâll pick up on words they use and everyday things will make you think of them. ITS JUST. GAH!!! I LOVE PLATONIC LOVE!!
I think platonic love is SUCH an important part of hugoâs general role in the story because likeâŚ.This isnt his first rodeo remember? Hes done jobs for donella before. Hes probably crushed on a few people before. Maybe even people hes worked with. But clearly its never affected his performance before. none of these crushes have Permanently rewired his brain and this perspective he has of the world.
The reason team radical has such an impact on him is NOT just bc sheâs gay for varian. Itâs bc ALL OF THEM are the first people who have just Genuinely cared about her, with no ulterior motives, no strings attached, no romantic connotations, no nothing. Theyre the first people sheâs actually connected with and felt like she could be herself around. and theyâre the first to actually able to counter these mindsets that are so Natural to her- these mindsets that itâs every man for himself, that relationships are all temporary, and that sheâs not fundamentally deserving of love. Varian, nuru and yong showed hugo a new perspective on life. ALL OF THEM DID!! NOT JUST VARIAN!!!
Its why platonic varigo is genuinely so important to me and one of the reasons i think varigo are the âbest friends first/lovers secondâ kind of couple. its also why i dont really like them having chemistry like right off the bat. Because likeâŚThem being friends first is the only reason their relationship as it is is even possible. Neither of them really had friends their age before and thats Why they really connect.
if it wasnât for varian justâŚbeing a good friend, and him, nuru and yong all collectively showing hugo this new outlook on lifeâŚ.team radical would have just been another means to an end. Sure maybe hugo wouldâve had a little crush on varian or found him attractive, but it wouldnât have made him like, quit his whole job. He wouldâve just done the work and moved on with his life. he wouldnât have FALLEN IN LOVE like he did. Love and attraction are two different things and hugo didnt just have a crush on varian, he fell in love with him. and he fell in love (platonically, of course) with yong and nuru too.
THATS what changed him!!! Genuine human connection and love!!! It had nothing to do with romance!!! And i feel like people just tend to focus on the yaoi or whatever when likeâŚIt means nothing if we arenât seeing hugo form these bonds with the group as a whole and watching his outlook change as a result! without the core feature of genuine human connection and friendship the yaoi wouldnât even EXIST!!! đđđ
I especially need more library/betrayal scenes with the whole group bc it genuinely makes me so mad when theyâre Just about varigo and nuru and yong are just. Left behind? NOBODY EVER WRITES NURU AND YONG REACTING TO THE BETRAYALâŚ..NOBODY WRITES THEM HELPING HUGO WHEN VARIAN GETS POSSESSED. THEYâRE JUST. LEFT BEHIND AND THEN THEY SHOW UP AT THE END WHEN THEY HAVE THEIR GROUP HUG OR WHATEVERâŚ.SOMETIMES NOT EVEN THAT!!!
IT BREAKS MY HEART BECAUSE THEYâRE NOT JUST SIDE PIECES TO VARIGO!!! đđđ GAHHH. I NEED MORE TEAM RADICAL JUST ALL BEING BEST FRIENDS AND LOVING EACH OTHER!!!!! I NEED YONG AND NURU TO PLAY A PART IN THESE MAJOR PLOT POINTS TOO!!!!
I feel like we don't talk about how Hugo would be weirded out by the concept of having friends enough. Like we all pretty much agree that Donella, while maybe not being outright abusive, was at least not an amazing parent figure and made Hugo live a life that wasn't super healthy. But I haven't really seen anyone talk about how he probably has never felt platonic love.
I like the idea that it wasn't Varian that convinced Hugo to leave Donella, it was Nuru and Yong.
Hugo would have at least had a crush before, if not an actual relationship, he's aware that liking someone made you want to do stupid stuff, like quit your job, abandon your mother figure, and live with them for the rest of your life, but wanting to do that sort of stuff for someone you have no attraction to whatsoever? Huh?
I just love the idea that while Varian was a huge part in changing Hugo, it took friendship with no hint of romantic connotations to finally win Hugo over.

Benji is such a soft-hearted loser with Malcolm. That's why Malcolm is so spoiled, rivals Veroincas level of spoiled and entitlement lol
End of main story updates! Next week I'd be posting random gameplay pics of other sims I've been meaning to play!
Transcript under the cut~
Benji: Malcolm...Your face what happened?
Veronica: Benji...he got into a fight with some loser
Benji: He did what?
Veronica: I feel a little bad. I was hounding on him hard about Luna then these losers started saying some horrible things about Luna and he just snapped
Benji: What about the other dude?
Veronica: Heâs pretty fucked up. I was able to get Malcolm outta there in time but you never know if that person will try to press charges
Benji: What did you tell him exactly
Veroinca: I just told him he wasnât being fair to Luna and you know that too.
Benji: I know I know but...
Veronica: There are no buts Benji. This isnât fair to Luna or you, you canât keep walking around egg shells because youâre scared heâs gonna explode. Luna is hurting too
Benji: Donât worry about it. I'll deal with him tonight
Veroinca: I hope so becasue I told him he has until the end of the week to reach out to Luna or else Iâd call Gideon to beat his ass
Benji: Jesus V. Gideon? Thats cold
Veronica: Whatever! Just make sure he reaches out to Luna or Gideon will beat your ass too!
Benji: V left...
Malcolm:...
Benji: You wanna tell me what happened?
Malcolm:...
Benji: You canât keep quiet about this forever. We have to talk eventually
Malcolm: Fine.
Benji: Do you want me to be honest?
Malcolm: Might as well. Veroinca already ripped me a new one
Benji: I say this with all the love in my heart but you are being too hard on Luna
Malcolm: I know...
Benji: She loves you a lot you know that yes?
Malcolm: I know
Benji: You donât have even speak with Andre. Whatâs most important is being there for Luna. If he ends up being a bitch Luna will know she has you to lean on. If he isnât then at least you can learn the truth
Malcolm: Iâm just scared.
Benji: You have to have more faith in Luna, at the end of the day the real enemy is your Dad. He hasnât reached out once since Andre was exposed, and never calls or checks up on you guys.
Malcolm: Thatâs cuz heâs a bitch
Benji: More of a reason to go easy on Luna. Its you guys vs the world
Malcolm: Youâre a part of us too you know that right?
Benji: Oh? Am I?
Malcolm: Of course! Youâve always been a part of Luna and I. Always!
Benji: Then listen to me when I say you need to reach out to Luna okay? I can be there if you want but please donât ice her out anymore okay?
Malcolm: Fine...

hearing you call live-action sonic surprisingly conservative in your post about media moving forward felt like being shot in the heart
i mean, sonic as a character is pretty leftist. his whole deal is being free and setting people free,
beating up enemies in the game is literally breaking the shell that the animals are stuck in
Eggman was an analogy for pollution, with him destroying the environment for personal gain, and later being more of a fascist dictator
and his thing is always turning people into products, into literal machines he can control to do his labor and fight his wars, which would be every capitalistâs dream.
and so i never put the pieces together when it comes to the movie being conservative.
damn.
ouch.
could you elaborate more on it? idk, the conversation hurts but iâd like to know what your thoughts are on live-action sonic specifically
Oh, sure. We can talk about the surprisingly conservative themes and ideas of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog films. With the caveat that this is old-school traditional conservatism, not modern nakedly fascistic conservatism. The Sonic movies are conservative in a Home Improvement sort of way, not a Lady Ballers sort of way.
What it amounts to is that Paramount approached the films not with intent to make a Sonic the Hedgehog movie but with intent to make a "relatable" story for an audience that also has Sonic the Hedgehog in it.
Have you ever seen 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters? A film which centers a broken family trying to connect with each other, while also there's a disaster movie happening around them? Like. Godzilla and Mothra and Ghidorah is all stuff that's happening, but what really matters here is whether this daughter can forgive her mother.
It's the of writing a low-stakes personal drama and then stapling the film premise to it. The kind of move that makes sense with something like The Day After Tomorrow where the premise is just "It got fucking cold" so the movie kinda needs something with some actual characters that it can be about.
But when it's an adaptation, it shows low confidence in the IP itself to carry a film. It says, "I don't think a Sonic movie would work, so instead I'm going to just make a movie and have Sonic in it."
And the a movie that they made centers some conservative values. But, like, old-school conservative values, not the hyper-fascistic transphobia and white supremacy and stuff you see around today. Things that were considered commonly recognized conservative values in the 80's and 90's, when white people were still supposed to believe that racism was over and all that jazz.
For one, Tom is a cop. Which is a wild choice for a film coming out at the height of BLM and ACAB. The film, as well as its subsequent sequels and spinoffs, play Tom's policing very sympathetically. A major theme of the first film is that Officer Wachowski is a vital and valuable part of his community.
There is no ambiguity; The cops are the good guys here. They're kind of wacky but we're meant to love both of them, Tom and Wade. They are, however, contrasted by the wickedness of the Feds.
Eggman, in the film, is reimagined from an industrialist to a federal agent. He represents the long arm of Big Government overreach coming for the sleepy town of Green Hill. Which is then further represented by G.U.N., who oppose Eggman once he goes rogue but are still the enemy nonetheless.
Even the Knux series still manages to be about fighting the Feds. The federal government has been the antagonist for 3 out of 3 entries thus far, when Eggman himself has only been the antagonist for 2.
The films leave the environmentalism of the original behind, instead centering family values. Rather than setting out to rescue woodland creatures from industry, Sonic has heart-to-heart chats with Tom about growing up and finding his calling. Knux isn't the guardian of Angel Island, but Sonic's adopted brother. Maddie can ground him for inappropriate behavior.
The first film also features the popular old-school conservative theme of Rural America vs. Urban America. Tom is a small-town cop who yearns for the glamour of the big city. He thinks his calling is there. But, over the course of the film, he learns to appreciate the value of small-town living and his importance to his community, and sets aside his foolish dreams of urbanity.
"I wanted to run away to the city but then learned that my Real 'Murica small hometown is where I truly belong" is probably the single most popular conservative story in decades of film and television.
It's worth noting that the film does feature an interracial marriage, which is something I hear brought up a lot as a way of saying "Actually it's not conservative because...."
But for as much credit as Maddie might warrant... There is the issue of Rachel. A character who exists primarily in the film to be a Sassy Black Woman who reacts with furious histrionics towards Tom for no apparent reason. She just. Hates him. From the bottom of her soul, despises "Relatable Cop Boy".
Like. So far as the film's concerned, it needs no explanation. Her relationship with Tom is just an eyeroll, sly glance at the camera, and "In-laws, amirite?" The second film at least gives her more to do, but the first concludes her subplot by having them tie her up and steal her car.
Like. That's it. That is what she amounts to. Maddie's sister yells sassily until she passes out and then the payoff is that they steal her car and leave her tied to a chair as... I guess her karmic retribution for being so sassy and mean to Tom? It's hard to really say whether this is mean-spirited because we do not know what her beef is. The film doesn't think we need to know. "In-laws are crazy, amirite!?"
When you set aside the cool action scenes of Sonic punching robots and look at what the films center as their emotional heart? You get a story about a small-town cop learning to appreciate his rural roots and build a family with his wife despite her unreasonably psychotic relatives, while the wicked federal government attempts to destroy their home, town, family, and way of life.

Do you find yourself in almost a state of mourning/grief with datv? Iâm literally in an almost emotional distress over it. All summer I built up insane defensiveness due to all the grifter hate train bullshit brewing for it with a dose of insane excitement since Iâve been a DA girlie since Origins 2009 release date and I just⌠donât know how to process my feelings?!?
Due to the pre game discourse I almost feel programmed to fight criticism for it and during a new play through I keep having âholy shit that quest was so dialed inâ followed immediately by âwhat the hell did I just listen toâ and yet my brain is still in copium mode.
DA fandom discourse has always been poisoned with garbage takes, ESPECIALLY since Solas got introduced with DAI (Iâm sorry, I truly believe his die hard haters have the reading comprehension of a peanut) but the fact that there is still a huge pocket of the fandom that couldnât even get the point of the solas/mythal dynamic when it was LITERALLY SPOONFED TO US kind of⌠scares me about the future of narrative design in general.
Absolutely development hell and reboot and lack of time to truly sink into the intended story beats from start to finish played a major role. The skeleton remains of bullshit multiplayer factions are here too. But holy shit. Is it just me or does everything else utterly scream âchronically onlineâ to me.
Sorry I have no idea where Iâm going with this. I just needed to yap thoughts that werenât just in the void. I donât know how to reconcile getting my dream romance ending I waited 10 years for alongside a narrative that doesnât even make sense leading to that happy ending.
i wouldn't say im experiencing full on grief but i do know exactly what you mean and i sympathize with your experience a lot. i think it might be because ive been in a corner of fandom that has been very critical of bioware and so i honestly had extremely low expectations of veilguard up until the summer. i thought we would NEVER get the game, and if we did get it, i was sure it would be a fucking trainwreck after 10 years of "[insert x developer here] leaves bioware after 20+ years!". my personal bar was truly on the floor, in the deep roads, in the heart of a titan, in the void etc etc.
it does bother me the way it was marketed because honestly i would call it duplicitous. not in the "false advertising" legal sense of the world but in the way it feels like the devs are (and were) very aware of the flaws in this game and more importantly were very aware of how it would be received by long-time fans. and of course i am aware that developers have little to no say whatsoever in marketing, and its also clear that vg's marketing was an absolute mess of conflicting directions considering that reveal trailer that honestly set the game up to fail (i truly believe the grifting and general, casual reception would not have been so negative if they had used the release-date trailer instead) and the way they immediately had to drop 20 minutes of gameplay to reassure people that they werent releasing dragon age: fortnite LMFAO. but i think that mismatch actually tells us a lot about the similarly contradictory tone and writing in different parts of the game, and the direction that EA seemingly pushed for (as exemplified by their attempts to market it as... whatever that was) and the game bioware was attempting to make (which would have undoubtedly been flawed but probably more in-line with past games).
but, this duplicitous marketing was not just EA, and i do feel that the devs played up the game, and specifically our attachment to past characters and franchise entries, in a way that was a bit unfair when you have the context of their comments post-release about how aware they are of it's shortcomings. and i get it, these people have quite literally no choice. they have to participate in the marketing of this game, it's their job, they need to pay rent and eat etc etc like i get it. but just because they have good reason to play on their fan's attachment to their writing via their tweets and comments in dev q&a's doesn't mean i cant say it left a bad taste in my mouth. i think trick being completely absent from the entire marketing cycle is really interesting in this context, lol. i have no proof of there being a correlation, it was just something i found interesting this summer, and that i find even more interesting now, especially considering their role as lead writer.
it definitely felt like the things they chose to show and the things they chose not to were designed specifically to grip fans and rile us up, and though it worked for their pre-sales, i think it actually hurt them in the end because if they had not gotten expectations up so high by dangling varric and solas and morrigan and the inquisitor in front of us like carrots, we probably would not all have been so disappointed! i sure wouldnt be. remember i thought this game was going to fucking blow not even 8 months ago! for me it was precisely the summer build up that left me so bereft in the end. if i had played the game completely blind id still think it was a flop, but i wouldn't feel absolutely bamboozled and pissed off in the way i and a lot of others seem to feel.
legend @scaryanneee said once that the entire game feels apologetic, in both its writing and design and that has stuck with me ever since she said it. the whole game feels like a big "sorry it wasnt better", and even more so due to the release of the artbook filled with ideas that they knew we'd like better, and even MORE so with the game's lack of denuvo or other anti-piracy software, allowing us to data-mine and see the skeleton left behind at some point. idk a lot about game development but i am under the impression that post-release content that feels like a desperate apology to fans + tweets about how you fought and lost that then get deleted are not the norm????
its truly a mess. but i do not feel hopeless, for some reason. gaming is a mess and i think you are right to fear for the future of narrative design but although there are always people who will bootlick to cope, there are also beloved haters like us who will always complain, and not out of transphobia or a desire to grift, but out of a genuine love for these games and the stories they tell. i wish the reviews had been a bit more discerning and critical, but i hope the message will get through to bioware and EA eventually. i also think that tbh, if this game came out 3 years after bg3 rather than 1, it would look VERY different. i would not even really consider myself a bg3 fan and i have a lot of criticisms of it (lol who's surprised!!!) it is objectively a move in the right direction for the gaming industry for a variety of reasons, and i do believe its many accolades have sent a message to greedy execs everywhere.

Heyo itâs me, Iâm here to ruin ya day
Thoughts on Mitzi and Mordecaiâs parallels and how desperate they are to find answers about Altasâs death?
mordecai heller and mitzi may: a piece on grieving.
FIRST of all, i apologise that this response took a very long time to cook up. i wanted it to be as fleshed out as possible because i do have a lot to say in this regard. the train of thought initially departed because of the widespread misunderstanding around mitziâs character. to which i thought to myself: well itâs strange that people can easily extend their empathy towards mordecai, who (to me) has undoubtedly done worse. but whatâs even worse is that, if you really look closelyâ if we made a venn diagram for these two, thereâs a large chunk of overlap between them.
(p.s. now that i am proofreading all of this i realise its a bit different from what you asked but nonetheless i hope it captures the complex nature of grief as a theme in lackadaisy, especially when discussing the parallels between mitzi and mordecai)
so letâs break it down.
if someone wanted to read lackadaisy and asked me if there were any main themes that circled around the storyâ i would say: grief. more specifically, the consequences of untapped grief. mean the story itself starts off with the mysterious and brutal death of atlas may, who was THE big cat behind the lackadaisy. atlas himself was an enigma, and i have mentioned this before in another post. his position within the story bears a lot of similarities to rose quartz as they play the ghastly spouse that haunts the narrative.
however, this is not about atlas, but instead the two people that served as his vessel after his passing:
his wife, mitzi, and his right-hand man, mordecai.
instead of dissecting this theme individually, finding the differences between the two, i thought it would do the analysis more justice to extract it directly from the source material itself. initially i wanted to talk about how this grieving bleeds out onto others around them (e.g. mitzi forging a check from wick, mordecai kneecapping viktor).
letâs take âhamstringâ and âmonomaniaâ for example, as they both converse over asaâs claims at their lunch. but if you really think about it, it was never about that.
this scene embodies a power struggle between the two. for one, mitziâs mentions of mordecaiâs âobsessionâ as a deflection. she sees his rigid loyalty as both a flaw and a threat. by framing mordecai as overly fixated, sheâs able to position herself as the more pragmatic party who is trying to keep afloat. which is true and mitzi, rightfully, views mordecai as a ârelentless former associate.â his meticulous nature, his refusal to let go of the past, and his allegiance to ideals that no longer align with businessâ survival paints him as the wildcard to her. then again, itâs hard to take empty words from someone that had abandoned the very concept he claims to protect.
thatâs not to say mordecai doesnât return the sentiment, because he very much does. to him, mitziâs pragmatism looks more like opportunism, evident in her willingness to bend rules, and in his perspective, betray atlasâ vision to keep the business alive. while she plays the capable leader, that imagery clashes with his perception of her as someone who lacks disciplineâ possibly bred by the history that mordecai knows her to be atlasâ wife and nobody more. he sees mitzi as culpable in the lackadaisyâs downfall and he makes sure she knows this.
but at the end of the day, they are having this conversation inside the same car. while one might interpret this being the main divergence between the two, we can see a striking commonality in which they are failed actors starring in roles they never wanted.
what do i mean by this? while the dont outwardly acknowledge it, grief survives in this scenario as a subtext. you can tell by the use of dialogue. mitziâs sarcastic tone and pointed remarks, almost shoving the spotlight towards mordecai, suggests a stage of denial and pain that comes with her grieving over atlas. remember what mordecai said to mitzi in response?
âlosses are endemic to this business. youâve brought them on yourself in your persistence⌠as though you could bring the remains of atlasâ estate to anything but further disgrace.â
his crticisim of mitzi isnât just about the state of the lackadaisy, in fact, mordecai subconsciously targets himself for his own inability to move on. mordecai and mitzi are different people, that is no question. but this scene serves as a great analogy that this conversation could very much be happening in their heads. this is a conversation not between two people but between one and oneself.
hereâs also another thing to note: their seating arrangement.
whether or not tracy meant for this to be intentional, thereâs a lot you can take in this scene in regards to their character. mitzi sits in the passenger seat at the front, where the light is more prominent. it symbolises her active role as the current face of the lackadaisy and the one taking on visible responsibility for its perseverance. however, note that she is still in the passenger seat, not the driverâsâ mitzi is losing control, she is struggling to move forward in the wake of atlasâ passing. but sheâs still not fully in charge of its trajectory, think of how asa and mordecai looks down on her current position.
occasionally, sheâd glance back at mordecai to speak, which definitely shows her discomfort and mistrust towards him, sheâs unwilling to fully confront him. and in my opinion, not only does this reveal her vulnerability, this also shows her internal discontent.
mordecai, on the other hand, is sitting behind her (literally AND metaphorically) in the shadows. he sits in the back, detached from the lackadaisy but not completely. he observes mitzi from behind, his direct vision fixed on the back of her head, almost as if heâs reflecting on her choices and her strugglesâ perhaps⌠confronted with his own betrayal.
plus, if youâre thinking: what about the holes in the windows? GREAT question. despite how they want to present themselves, be it independent (mitzi) or calculated (mordecai), theyâre both incredibly vulnerable individuals.
as they sit in this confined space together, they breathe in the air of their inescapable bond and mutual dependence. their dynamic equal parts antagonistic and deeply intertwined.
#THIS IS A LONG ONE PHEWWWW#sorry it took so damn long#i hope you enjoy this read!!#i had soooo much fun writing this and i cant wait to put out more analysis like this#im considering a separate post for both of them individually#i wanted to put it here but thatâd be waaaay too long and itâd definitely derail the flow#so much to say abt them ⌠. they are so!!!#lackadaisy#lackadaisy cats#mordecai heller#mitzi may#atlas may#xan: rambling#xan: analysis

Yandere Germany with a darling who has an innocent culture
Germany didn't really know what to expect when investigating a new country. For starters, you ran right up to him. No weapons, no gunman. Just open arms and a flower crown that you placed on his head on the tips of your toes. They're your national flowers and you wanted to share them with the strange visitor.
The villagers were all over him too. Followed by gifts and stories of how they've never met someone from "The vast oceans", as they put it. You and your people have never left the island you resided on. It was strange how he even got here in the first place, but it sure was exciting.
Germany didn't know how to feel about it all. He wasn't sure what he was to expect, but this sure wasn't it. He couldn't deny the warmth he felt in his chest as he was pulled left and right by happy, curious people. Or was that just his nervousness? Germany was afraid that this was all a ruse. He made sure to keep his guard up just to be sure, but nothing ever happened. The only thing that came from you was curiosity and excitement. It strangely reminded of Italy and he wasn't sure how to feel about it.
There was one thing he was sure of though; If you are this open to everyone, you'll get eaten alive by the others. His experience with them says so.
Your culture's choice of clothing was another story. It was much more revealing than anything. Your breasts were only covered by a see-through lace top for crying out loud. To say he was a flustered mess was an understatement and judging by the other's exposed state, this was just how your people dressed. Stating that it's in your culture to be proud of the body your family has passed down to you over many generations didn't help either: However, very interesting.
This side of you would definitely be taken advantage of by the others.
The flustered drag through your home was strangely pleasant. How can it not when a cute girl is pulling you around to show you everything? When it was his turn to share all he knew about "The Vast Ocean" you were all wide-eyed and smiled. You couldn't fathom that there were actually other islands beyond the sea. It was honestly adorable in Germany's eyes.
He had taken it upon himself to check out all that you had to offer and set up trade deals and contracts with him. Did he take advantage of you? Maybe a little. You were just so interested in all the strange things he had brought from his lands that you just had to have them.; and see more.
When Germany had to leave you had insisted on coming along. Intrigued about what else this strange visitor had to offer. Much to his strange excitement. There was just something so innocently calming about having you around. He honestly thought of you as a puppy sometimes the way you were excited about the most mundane things. It was so adorable.
As time went on the two of you become close friends with Germany looking over you any way he could. To the others, you looked like a newly discovered colony that Germany had taken under his wing.
He kind of liked that idea. That way, you couldnât be taken by another, more harmful, nation. You and your people wouldnât stand a chance. If fact, you barely had anything to protect yourself and had almost no sense of danger.
He had to protect you. He doesn't know why he personally feels so strongly about protecting someone he hardly knows, but he does. Maybe because he sees himself in you from a time he was an innocent boy? He feels the need to protect your innocence; A gift he wasn't lucky enough to receive.
Your curiosity in the other nations unsettles him. Why can't those curious eyes and perfect smile be reserved for only him? An unfamiliar feeling will carve its way into Germany's heart anytime he sees you so much as conversing with another country. Too much uneasiness eating away at him over your safety.
Germany, as your first and closest friend in the new world, will advise you to keep your distance from the others. He'll reveal their horror stories of the past if it means planting a seed of doubt and fear of the others. His arms are warm though. Germany is your friend. He'll keep you safe.
Germany will slowly pull you closer into his arms as he grows your distance from the others. You'll grow fearful of the others. They're dangerous and are capable of a great deal of harm to you and your people, but don't worry, Germany's here. He'll protect you.
You'll grow cautious of others and the outside world. Taken by German's advice. Something he's proud of. How quickly you've grown to trust his every whim. He'll most certainly take advantage of that.
As he feeds off your fears, Germany will slowly bring in the reins around you. Trading with others will have to go through him first, for example. You wouldn't want to bad deal and jeopardize the well-being of your people, would you? Let him help you. Germany has never steered you wrong before.
Alliances with others is a no-go, waaaaaay off the table. If you had others, you wouldn't rely on him so dependently. Germany can't stand that thought. He'll do anything to keep you under his control.
If you do ever reveal the veil of his lies, though, there are always other, more gruesome, measures that can be taken. After all, he would always enjoy your company. You'll never have the chance to leave him in your weak state. The cruel reality is that your technology is too far behind to even dream of fighting Germany. It's too late to back down. You will swallow your fate one way or another as an underling of Germany, and he, will take care of his darling, little colony.

I see a lot of people acting like Guts was so good to Casca when he admitted he just wanted a side chick. Reading the manga it felt that she was unimportant to him, someone to fuck and throw to the side. Even when he was trying to be there for her it felt so...forced. Like he didn't want to be there at all, why do you think that is?
I think it's a combination of Miura deliberately writing it as a flawed attempt at a relationship in terrible circumstances between two fucked up people that was always kind of a mistake, and like, probably some bad writing as well lol.
Like I think it's supposed to at least come across as sweet and earnest and hopeful at the time. A genuine connection between Guts and Casca. Miura has said in an interview that he wrote their relationship to add more drama to the Eclipse, so presumably the audience is meant to root for them to an extent, so that the Eclipse rape can make the reader even more angry lol.
But I don't think it was ever intended to be true love or even necessarily a good idea on the parts of the characters. When Guts invites Casca along he directly says she might get in the way of what he wants to do (fight strong opponents) so his invitation is conditional. This actually foreshadows Guts abandoning her in a cave to go and fight monsters, because she does get in his way.
Casca also cries when Guts fights Wyald and afterwards tells him to die on his own if he's so insistant about it, so even if she hadn't gone insane she probably would've gotten in the way of his dream to throw himself into danger over and over anyway lol.
On the rescue mission they start getting jealous as they get closer to Griffith. They essentially break up right before the Eclipse starts, Casca telling Guts to leave to pursue his dream while she stays with Griffith.
Judeau puts a lot of energy into trying to get them to hook up and leave together, and it's strongly implied that it's because he doesn't feel like he deserves Casca himself and he wants what he thinks is best for her. But when he dies he regrets never telling Casca about his feelings, and Casca even has a little romantic moment with him after he saves her life, which echoes the way she falls for Griffith and then Guts when they save her life.
And it's kind of jarring when she's already hooked up with the protagonist of the story, and certainly suggests that her relationship with Guts is not exactly all-consuming for them. It's realistically unromantic.
Post-Eclipse, Casca is framed as Guts' responsibility that pulls him away from the more visceral temptation to go after Griffith. And this causes him to nearly kill Casca, and then nearly rape her.
When Casca gets her mind back but can't look at him, Guts swings his sword in frustration and restlessness and thinks about Griffith's intense gaze from across a field. After she gets kidnapped, Guts only seems to care that his sword couldn't hit Griffith.
I could go on lol, but basically there are so many deliberate details that point to Guts and Casca's relationship being intended not as super romantic, but rather a more realistic hookup that isn't necessarily a net positive for either of them. And I do think that's what Miura intended, to a greater or lesser degree. I'm sure it was meant to be somewhat genuine and sweet, but I think they're ultimately shown to be incompatible and like, a trainwreck overall.
And yeah, a lot of Guts' shitty treatment of Casca is definitely deliberate, since after the Eclipse he does abandon her, and later attacks and assaults her, and she's currently traumatized by not just Femto and monsters, but also him.
I've actually written a ton of posts about their relationship and its flaws, so I'll link some in case you're interested in more detailed takes:
This is probably one of the best posts I've written about them imo, about how Judeau and Guts' relationships to Casca are compared and contrasted to highlight some of Guts' flaws.
Guts and Casca's hook up being paralleled to Griffith and Charlotte's hook up in terms of both men trying to repress their feelings about the other.
How Judeau's manipulations reflect on Guts and Casca's relationship.
Visual parallels during the Guts + Casca sex scene that suggest they're both rebounding from Griffith.
My take on Guts wanting to earn Casca's affection in ch 33.
Guts and Casca's relationship as a mistake that contributes to the Eclipse happening.
Guts and Casca's hook up failing to have an impact.
A long list of moments that contradict Guts and Casca's relationship as particularly romantic.
Thanks for the ask!

But he supposes fair doesnât matter anymore, does it?
ii.Â
Eddie coming over after his shift wakes Buck up the next morning. Buck slept incredibly well. No symptoms, no dreams, no being psychically entrapped by a goddess, nothing. Itâs a huge relief. He needed that. He climbs out of bed feeling rested and less horrified about everything happening to him.Â
âHow are you doing?â Eddie asks when Buck makes his way down the loft stairs.
âA lot better,â Buck admits. âI, uh⌠I know whatâs going on now. I just didnât want to explain it over text.â
âYou do?â Eddie asks, eyes wide. âUh, what is it? How bad is it?â
Buck frowns. Heâs still not sure of the answer to that final question.Â
âWell, itâs kind of unbelievableâŚâ
Buck launches into his story. Everything that happened, from the call where things got bad to his encounter with Lawrence. By the end of the explanation, Eddieâs face is twisted with⌠With something that surprises Buck. It looks like fear. Like something more intense than fear, even.
âEddieâŚâ Buck pleads. He had expected dubiousness. Disbelief. Not⌠This.Â
âIâm sorry,â Eddie blurts, stepping backwards towards the door. Like heâs going to bolt. âI⌠I canât⌠Iâm sorry, Buck.â
âWhat are you doing?â Buck asks, voice suddenly thick with panic. Eddie canât leave him. There is no one else in the world he can talk to about this. He needs Eddie. He desperately needs him.Â
âYou⌠Youâre gonna see, I⌠Iâm not a good person,â Eddie says. âIâm⌠I donât⌠You always thought I was, despite everything.â
Buck is certain his eyes almost bug out of his head.Â
âEddie, what? Youâre⌠No! No, you are a good person.â
âI canât be,â Eddie shakes his head. âI know what Iâve done.â
âO-okay, but I-I can actually objectively tell now!â Buck exclaims. âThatâs literally the only point of me now!â
Eddie takes a shaky breath.Â
âYouâre not crimson the way they were,â Buck keeps saying. âMy stupid tattoo doesnât do its stupid thing around you. Okay? Youâre not bad, Eddie. I know you arenât!â
âYouâre just biased,â Eddie says.
âIâm not!â Buck protests.
âHow do you know?â Eddie demands. âYouâre biased all the time about the people you care about! We all are!â
âIf that was true in this case, I donât think my actual boyfriend would have an evil red glow!â Buck rebuts, exasperated.Â
Eddie stills. Thinking it through. This piece of logic seems to snag the momentum of his own self-loathing.Â
âYou are biased about Tommy,â Eddie says.Â
Buck scoffs. âCome on, I-â
âYou think heâs better than he is, too.âÂ
âI, what? I mean, okay, clearly. But how did you know that?â Eddie shrugs. His eyes are on the floor. âDoesnât treat you as well as he should.â
---
75 for đ˛:
---
âYou can?â Eddie asks. âSeriously?â
âYeah,â Buck rasps. He can. He wonât do anything.Â
The thing is, heâs not feeling anything he hasnât felt before. Itâs something heâs been feeling for years. Buried deep underneath misunderstanding himself and insecurity and an overall sense of hopelessness. Futility. Why was there ever any point in letting him feel this entirely? This hunger. It could never happen. Now? Now all heâs feeling is that hunger, amplified. Amplified so much, he doesnât even notice the futility. All he knows is that he will never put that hunger on Eddie. He will never do anything to Eddie that doesnât doesnât want. Doesnât ask for.Â
Eddie takes a step toward him. âBut you⌠You uhâŚâ
âYeah,â Buck nods. âA lot.â
Because once again, Buck finds himself unable to lie. Or even pretend he doesnât understand what Eddie is trying to ask.Â
Eddie steps towards him. Buck remains frozen. Afraid of making any further movements.Â
âWhat ifâŚâ Eddie exhales. âWhat if I donât really want you to?â
âYou donât⌠You donât want me to want you?â Buck asks. He already knew that. He already knew.Â
âI donât want you to control yourself,â Eddie says, quietly. Quietly, but Buck can still hear.Â
âYou donât really mean that,â Buck mumbles.Â
Eddie exhales shakily.Â
âI do, though. I really do.â
Buck takes a step forward and stops himself. He wants to, but he shouldnât. He really shouldnât.Â
âPlease, Buck,â Eddie sort of whimpers.Â
And that undoes it. All of Buckâs resolve.Â
đ˛
Eddie doesnât know what heâs doing. He doesnât know why he wants this. All he knows is that he does. Desperately.Â
Itâs not the magic. Itâs not whatever he is. He didnât want Tommy at all. No part of him did. He was repulsed by Tommy, at that moment. In a way he hadnât been, when he first met Tommy, and Tommy was always after his attention. Tommyâs advances had sickened him, frightened him. Nothing about Buck does that. And so he finds himself asking, begging. For something he had no idea he even wanted.Â
But god does he want it now.Â
Buck has a sort of hazy look in his eyes. He strides towards Eddie, making an anticipatory heat pool in Eddieâs stomach. He goes sort of lightheaded. Buck grabs Eddie, one hand cupping his cheek, one hand on the small of his back. He kisses him. No hesitation, no tentativeness.Â
Eddieâs never felt anything like it.Â
Itâs either the magic or some sort of sexual revelation. Whoâs to say? His whole body is on fire. Hot like embers after over a week of feeling cold. It feels so good. It feels intoxicating. Eddie wants to drown in this.Â
Buck pulls away from Eddie and looks into his eyes for a second. His pupils are blown. Expression awed. How long has Buck wanted this? Does he actually want it? Or is it all just-
Eddieâs thoughts are cut off by Buckâs mouth finding his throat.Â

@oknowkiss asked me fantastic question â what drarry fics would you recommend to your boss?Â
and i took that SERIOUSLY... literally thought about this the entire day and i have some Answers
first of all, i feel like i need to clarify that my boss is not much older than i am, haha!! sorry if any of you thought i suddenly found myself in the presence of a legendary fandom elder who participated in paving the way for todayâs fandom â though she is a legend in her own right, of course: her vibe is very much đâ¨put-together corporate tech girlie đâ¨(the kind with impeccable taste in fashion, kitchen knives, and interior design) .... at this point in time, everybodyâs got fannish hobbies, and i already knew we both grew up on the internet and liked YA during its prime, but not everybody writes fanfic and actually posts it online, which is why i was literally so floored at this REVELATION i immediately logged into tumblr and had to Post about itâŚ.Â
that being said, she is STILL my boss and iâm pretty sure she hasnât thought about the hp fandom in a long time, so. if i were to HYPOTHETICALLY give my boss a drarry fic rec list, i would start off with something relatively family-friendly 𤣠(also i apologize in advance for inconsistent link formatting)
first off: Hermione Granger's Hogwarts Crammer for Delinquents on the Run by waspabi.... this is actually the first drarry fic i read, ever, so iâm being Nostalgic and biased because this is the fic that convinced me back then. but i think this as a first rec works, too, because she was a dramione shipper, and hermione and draco are here, too (only, what if hermione was lowkey a fujoshi instead....)
since iâd HYPOTHETICALLY be trying to Win Over somebody already familiar with the hp books + the fandom â i feel like iâd have to start with fics that confront canon first, whether it means addressing plot holes or flaws in jkrâs writing and then subverting the shitty parts (the epilogue⌠lol) OR fics that are deeply rooted in the source material, so reading them would be like a refresher course on the hp world while also proving how compatible drarry are together in Situations, lol
i would also recommend Heal Thyself by astolat ⌠in no particular order, some more classics: Dwelling by aideomaiâŚ. Away Childish Things / By the Grace by lettered⌠What We Pretend We Canât See by gyzym⌠Running on Air, of course (the drarry fandom classics)⌠as visual people i truly think she would be charmed by dustmouthâs comics â iâd start with Going Postal and Harry Potter Gets a Job âŚÂ
so okay letâs say sheâs getting convinced and i can now branch out to fics that are more TARGETED towards her specifically⌠iâve never actually talked to her about fandom/trope preferences or fanfic prior to this day so i am definitely playing it safe ahahaha BUT we have bonded over rom-coms, coming-of-age stories, and lordeâs discography and email newslettersâŚ. here are fics that give off That specific feeling to me:
Harry Potter and the Future He Doesn't Really Want, Thanks. (this was actually the first fic i thought of recommending tbh... something about loneliness in the city, hanging out with friends, it's time to play Ribs... HYPOTHETICALLY i wouldn't lead with a rated E fic though 𤣠also, as mentioned, i have a Strategy)
Faint Indiscretions by ignatiustrout
before a fall by eleadore
fics with rom-com references!!
youâve got mail: Pages of You by wolfpants
mamma mia: if youâve changed your mind by warmfoothills (orphan_account)
jane austen-esque references: amid this warm and steady sweetness by warmfoothills (orphan_account)
no specific rom-com as it's technically disney, but in here THE KIDS PUT ON A PLAY and itâs herculesâŚ. we both enjoy musicals so this goes on the drarry syllabus: Falling for a Golden Boy by OTPShipper98
clueless au: Tis a Far Better Thing by The_Sinking_Ship
other recommendations i would give if i were able to successfully sell drarry to her:
Can I Tell You SomethingâŚ? by Gallaplacidia (as drag race fansâŚ)
weâre both designers who loved art first, so i NEED to recommend Truth to Materials by toomuchplor and lately. it's my duty
kylie minogue shade⌠the premise reminds me of an inside joke so INSTANT RECOMMENDATION: moonflower_roseâs Nothing But You On My Mind
fanfiction that would be appreciated by somebody who stanned one d*rect*on during their peak in the 2010s + the height of 1/D, 5sos fics on wattpad: Star Quality by who_la_hoop / Rich Friend by iota
fun fact, though: i roped another friend with very little prior knowledge of hp (apart from a few movies) into becoming a drarry shipper 𤣠so the moral of the story is there is a drarry fic for EVERYBODY even the non-believers⌠and drarry writers are so TALENTED they can convince just about anyone to come to their side...
this is so fucking wordy and self-indulgent!!! i took this WAY too seriously but i feel like tumblr is THE platform for long text posts anyway, lol. now if you've made it this far, i need to know: what drarry fics would you recommend to your boss?
just finished my 1:1 chat with my manager at work and i just found out she used to write DRAMIONE FANFICTION omgâŚ. i wonder if i can get her to read drarry fanfiction in the year of our lord 2024âŚ
#treating this question like iâm in the miss universe beauty pageant and i'm in it to WIN#get ready for: Fanfic Classics â Fics I Would Recommend to My Boss Edition (Vol. 01)#100 likes and i will send her recommendations... just kidding lol... unless?#also she mentioned this fanfic concept (for a different fandom) and i was SO INTRIGUED i kind of need to see it idk.....#okay GOOD NIGHT#drarry fic recs#kiss and tell
