Today was the first day to work this year. I can't say when I started feeling this from, but now I feel certainly how important to keep my routines. I should do the things I always do without concerning my mood. Morning, I take a bath, have breakfast, go to my workplace, send LINE messages to my friends, and write my memo. Then my mood follows the activities wonderfully. Today I wrote my ideas on my memo pad as usual. I want to read some books on brain science when the library will open. I started having an interest in thinking about my brain with Antonio Damasio's and Shinsuke Shimojo's books.

Today I read Miki Nakatani's "Diary in Austria". I didn't know that she was married to a musician in Austria. In this book, she tells us about the days she enjoy gardening and learning German although she suffered from the corona. Indeed, she looks a little snob, but this diary is a great intelligent text for me. It tells me a really highly sophisticated point of view... I can't say how to express the richness of her mind. "Spiritual"? It sounds a little bit religious. I thought that "she has a really rich heart". How does this sound?  

She tells me that she had learned a lesson from her illness. If we have a healthy body, then we can feel happiness without needing anything more. I agree with her. Now I have been able to stay sober and eat daily meals deliciously. I also can work well, and they are pleasant for me. But I sometimes forget this happiness or this thanksgiving. I need to go back to look at this basic fact. Back to the basics. I also have another impressive part of this book which is her husband's words. "Life is too short not to enjoy". Certainly, I have to reflect on myself if I am really enjoying my life. My life... my work, reading, etc.

This diary has a humorous part that tells us there are the "Post-Poo Drops". It is an item of deodorant that is used in our bathroom. I couldn't stop smiling when I read and learned that. It has really a powerful name... but how to express this in Japanese? We Japanese have an item of deodorant which has the name "Toilet, after it (sonoatoni)". But a clever writer said that its correct name must be "Toilet, after shit(kusonoatoni)"! I tried to translate it, but have to feel that my sense isn't good. I recommend Miki Nakatani's that book because it must be an "underrated" book.
