December 9 - Solidarity (The Accidental Sequel)

So Bloom's reboot outfits made me so mad I did mini fashion study on what I think a 2020's, California-raised, respectable denim queen Bloom Peters would wear, pulling from Y2K style and Winx Club itself. iPhone quality, sketches not cleaned up, etc. Further notes/ramblings under the cut!

Going left to right:

Denim Dress -> Heavy inspiration from Bloom's S4 Band outfit. Girl needs to wear black more. Cute little bow because she's being Formal, and bits of pink with the socks and the word 'love' on her shirt.

Denim Skirt -> How do you make leg warmers look good on Bloom? Step 1 is not making them out of denim. Step 2 is referencing Bloom's casual partywear from Season 1 and this Pacsun model photo. Other notes not drawn in detail: Bloom wearing some gold necklaces, including one with the classic winx wings, and her crewneck saying 'Gardenia California 2004' as a nod to the OG release.

Denim Pants -> We're stealing everything from Classic Bloom with subtle updates. Turning the classic white and blue striped sweater into a tee with thinner lines. Updated flare jeans and of course the return of the yellow platform sandals. Some may stand for their erasure, but I don't. Also some bracelets and a ponytail in reference to the Reboot leaks (!!) because there are good ideas there, they're just executed poorly.

Denim Shorts -> Bloom's cropped hoodie is a reference to comic #17 The Ghost of Balmoral, but with a heart because Pink and Heart Motif. Fun fact if you don't own a pair of worn denim shorts you can't live in California (that's why I had to leave).

I decided to finally get the armchair of my dreams as a gift to myself after the exhausting exam season, amd I am so unbelievable happy. I do not feel guilty about spending money on myself, it was something I have wanted for a long time and it's definitely going to be good for my back since now I won't have to read on my bed all day to stay quiet. And honestly my exam season was destructive but very successful so you know what? I deserve this. I have also finally started to read Babel by R.F. Kuang and I am loving it so far! I am trying to enjoy the last few days of no studying at all, and I do plan on slowly getting into studying again next week. The guilt of not working is trying ro haunt me but I am fighting it with all my strenght. My main goal for the upcoming weeks is going to be to get back into my studying routine slowly and by small steps. I am still recovering from burn out and I do not want to make it worse. The first step is going to be to create a plan of everything I need to do academically in the next while, and to schedule as much time for myself and for resting as I need during the week. I don't care if I end up taking only one and not two exams in April, I need to get back on my feet and I need to prioritize my mentsl and physical health.

quickie El wardrobe analysis

I LOVE that far left outfit for being dead on in characterization.

this kid wore hospital gowns for 12 years and there's no way the bare-legs-skirt sensation wouldn't give her lab vibes. she might like skirts/dresses for the look (it's what real girls wear!! the tv said!!) but she would put leggings or pants underneath. and now we have a wardrobe sketch to confirm it! chef kiss!

yeah, and tell me what all these times have in common:

if you see El bare-legged in a dress it's because she's pretending to be someone she isn't in front of Mike.

but she tried one on at the mall!

made it through my long day of classes (8:30am-8:15pm)! took my breaks as real breaks (aka comfort movie time) and as a result don't feel burnt out. going to a late night dance class tomorrow and have my first inorganic chemistry quiz on thursday so powering through a grind session tonight.
