Dumb little edit I did on Tumblr Live last night too make Spaghetti the Crow into Gandalf Stormcrow. I'd love to see more depictions of crows in a non-death/halloween/ominous setting. If I were to have more LotR characters as birds/animals I'd go: Dwarves are Burrowing Owls Sarumon (of Many Colors) is a Rainbow Crow Gandalf the Grey is a old grey crow who becomes pure white when he becomes Gandalf the White. Sauron is a Raven (who's white in his pure Maiar form, then black when he became evil) Balrog is a flaming velociraptor Elves are Barn Owls Orcs are deformed/ugly frogs Humans are crows. This is because the wizards took on the appearance of man so it would make sense for them to be crows.

Another show my spouse and I are watching is Rings of Power, which I'm just enjoying as "officially sanctioned fanfiction". (And maybe that's okay, but that's a separate post) ANYWAY so the Strangers (the guy who we can all tell is Gandalf even if they won't say it) is walking with Poppy and Nori his Harfoot friends and there's this really wonderful scene where they're talking about names and the Stranger says this really powerful thing.

Absolutely beautiful moment in tv, and a message that has definitely resonated with all of the trans folx that I know.

The Stranger is Gandalf. All of us Tolkein nerds who sat down and read the Silmarilion and are obsessing over the lore details they've incorporated into this show know this guy is Gandalf. And here's the thing about Gandalf.

Furry Mechs

2 more Battletech mechs painted up recently.

First up Mechwarrior Foxy's Stormcrow inspired by the recent Clan Spaniel sourcebook. Then we have a Cougar for my Jade Falcons I did in Cheetah print just because.

The base coat and highlights have been added - as what will be a Stormcrow part of the Hell's Horses Clan, Iota Galaxy. The Ninth Ring of Hell.

Why don’t you ship it? I just don't think either of them would. Berryheart is too xenophobic and Curlfeather is too busy with her plotting.

What would have made you like it? If there was some suggestion that the two of them plotted some things together I could conceive a setup for it better.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? It's a good crack-ship, don't get me wrong. Two evil moms who plot and kiss each other is obviously very solid. Love to see some evil lesbians in the world.

StormCrow: Ship it

What made you ship it? It's FeatherCrow except Crowpaw is a little gay boy instead of a little straight boy! I love anything that involves blushy crushing Crowpaw.

What are your favorite things about the ship? Whereas Feathertail was pretty down for it, I feel like Stormfur is much more averse to the weird, angsty WindClan apprentice. The idea of Crowpaw awkwardly trying to impress Stormfur is so cute. I like the idea of Stormfur eventually softening as he comes to understand that Crowpaw is actually a lot softer underneath the prickly exterior. Their first kiss definitely comes out of what started as an argument.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I think Stormfur would break up with him after they get back to the clans. It was more of a fling to him, and Crowfeather - well I guess he wouldn't take that name - Crowfoot would not take it well because he had feelings hard. Also, BrambleStormCrow shenanigans on the journey, anyone?

Short answer for this one: I haven't read any of the Mapleshade-involved prequel books. To me she's just this rando who shows up in the main plot occasionally to cackle evilly and run away.

This weekend I got some more hobby work done.

I got the Sabutai D about 3/4's of the way done but I was able to complete the Shadow Cat III C.

The Shadow Cat III C is loaded with with both MASC and a Supercharger plus a LBX20 and a Improved Large Laser. I'm calling this one Chuck. I gave Chuck a Evil Sunz decal so that this speed freek may find favor from Gork and Mork.

It's been a long time, but when I was playing MechWarrior IV (last game I played) my mech of choice was the Stormcrow. Quick on it's feet, armed with a great mix of lazers, with enough heat sinks to let you use them! I often made sure to mix in a machine gun, just to have. I found that as long as I had some sort of decent mech or two with me in the Lance, no mission could stop us! Clan Jade Falcon was always victorious!!!
