lol ok, there is not much to these two rn, fair warning Basically I saw people coming up their version of LMK character designs and then I really wanted to come up with one for Macaque, but since I can't draw at a level that does the design justice, I just decided to write a story where Macaque has that design. As for the premise; basically MK and Bai He take Macaque to a Journey To The West themed Chuckie Cheese type place and Macaque gets into a fight with the pilgrim animatronics that entertain kids there.

As for the fake dating thing: basically I really wanted to write something where Wukong and Spider Queen are best friends (because I love them as friend) but then I added ✨drama ✨ by having them fake date because SQ is a closeted lesbian and doesn't want her parents to question why she's still single and Wukong's just a really solid bestie. And then something something endgame ships are shadowpeach and Spider Queen x Scorpion Queen because those are my two brainrot ships :P

[Masterpost] SQ Drama CD: Beyond the Asteroid - ver. BLUE - Translations

Long time no SQ! I have been working on this in the background whenever I have some free time, and I’m so glad I can finally share them~!

SQS 2 is still one of my favorite SQ stage plays, and I am so glad that they adapted it into a drama CD~! Similar to what they did with Tsukiuta’s Yumemigusa, they added a bit more to the story to fill in the gaps that they couldn’t do on stage. This includes more dialogue from Muramasa, and a few other key details like their backgrounds and lore.

For this version, we’re focusing on QUELL’s side of the story! The RED and BLUE versions technically complete each other, but it’s also okay to watch/listen to them without listening to the other ^^

I am working on editing the original subtitles I posted, and I will post them once they are finished as well~! RED Ver. is in the works together with more from VAZZROCK~!  I guess I am back in a TsukiPro high~ (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Listening to SolidS Drama CD 1 Omake

Judai: Let us all take time to remember that Tsubasa was the one who actually started thinking of a plan to celebrate Shiki’s birthday.

“Dai: So, what did you want to talk about?

Tsubasa: Look, it’s almost January 25th, right?

Dai: So?

Rikka: Shiki’s birthday!

Dai: Aah…

Tsubasa: I was talking with Rikka about surprising him! It’s Shiki we’re talking about, so I bet he’s forgotten his own birthday.”

Tsubasa: That’s true~ … wait. Ah!!!

Dai: You’re too nois- ah. I see.

Rikka: Eh? … Ah, I get it!

Shiki: Hm?

Tsubasa: That’s it!!

Shiki: This is it?

Dai: That is it.

Shiki: This?

Rikka: Coffee, right?

Shiki: Yeah, that’s right. Wait, I can’t get what you’re talking about at all.

Tsubasa: *laughs* It’s fine, it’s fine! Don’t sweat the small stuff, Shiki!

MBS EPISODE EIGHHHHT

weak. I hate to say it but I could feel it in my heart from the start. It had good moments but this episode just didn’t bring it home. I’m going to break this up into my usual notes and then some general evaluation. Notes: What is the deal with curtain and food? He has so many weird scenes with meals.. there’s probably some hidden meaning here but I don’t know what it is And they didn’t get to chuck-root the school :((((( Constance? Wants to pour acid on curtain’s feet Haha I liked Kate’s little “Nyoope” when the recruiters found her Martina redemption and the fighting tetherball team, sure Jackson and Jillson get even more unhinged. they terrify me We got Kate yeeting Constance up the tower, but her bucket had a built in rope motor somehow WE GOT KATIE-KAT but we didn’t get Sorry it took me so long And Milligan’s still moody instead of joyous Go Constance, break the thing, yay Number Two and Rhonda had some real shippy energy in this episode and PLEASE they are SISTERS Two more close profile shots of curtain in this episode, one where he is physically shorter than Milligan but dominating the interaction, and one where he’s physically looking down at Reynie but Reynie’s getting to him. Reynie has a heart to heart and curtain passes out. That’s different. Sticky even said, “it’s anger” and he was like “no, it’s vulnerability” oooooookay then. The whisperer is not an intercom/loudspeaker. sheesh. So the kiddos leave and the twins talk, resolving nothing, then curtain escapes REYNIE AND MISS PERUMAL NO COMPLAINTS HERE *sobs* Kate and Madge at the end <3 Constance refuses adoption!?!?!?!??! And no age reveal obviously rip Sticky’s family redemption he’s going to the totally not made up Boatwright Academy now Mr Benedict is like, I love you all, no snowball fight, the end. SIKE Curtain, SQ, and a totally real engineer lady are on a BOAT. You know, I felt bad for the engineer this whole series, as she is portrayed as kind of doing the technical work hoping it’ll be used for good, while curtain abuses its practical application, but her mood really shifted in that last scene. She was like heheh hey guy that I know is definitely is evil, howabout this mysterious blueprint... are they really trying to set up the sequel. Some tree branches will have to get pretttty bent.

Evaluation: keep reading! (sorry it gets long)

To recap what I’ve said from the start, I think the casting is fantastic but the tone is wrong. The darker, more saturated filter, the isolating camera shots, and very understated music make things colder and stilted. This is a constant throughout the whole series. The book was warm, messy, and full of charm, which I didn’t feel watching the show.

characters were.. compromised? Mr B starts off with a LIE about test winners going to Boatwright Academy. That undermines EVERYTHING he does from then on. “Regrettable but necessary” DOESN’T cut it. He’s also just so anxious and jittery instead of his gentile, kind, strong book self. Just from the show, they didn’t frame his genius very well. He seems more like a fool. Not really confidence-inspiring. In the same way, Being directed to cheat is one thing, but Reynie should NOT have lied to SQ to manipulate him into seeing the forest or whatever. Yeah reynie felt bad about it and SQ called him on it, but this is like the core values of our protagonist team, the strong love for truth. Also, I feel like in the show Reynie’s leadership isn’t highlighted. Like, everyone else has their thing but you almost wonder why he’s framed as the main character. The girls got bonding and the boys got bonding but there was hardly opportunity for him to really bring the team together into a cohesive unit Also, as much as I love Number Two’s life of crime (because it’s funny), she too should have that love of truth, but instead regularly does unlawful things. AND they never explained her eating, and even stopped having yellow clothes :( Additionally, the side story of her and Rhonda’s friction (entertaining I suppose) also really changed the character dynamic. In the book, the adult team was unwavering and wise, a sturdy basis for the perilous missions of the children. But their internal strife, while adding drama, makes them seem unreliable and less absolutely good and trustworthy. And I think trust and integrity are key parts of the book’s solid narrative. Constance’s refusal of the adoption felt wrong too. She was like, “Respectfully decline, but. I’ll stick around here.” I think they were trying to keep going with her contrariness, but it just comes across as foolish pride? Constance is a LITTLE GIRL. She DESERVES a FAMILY. SHE DESERVES A LOVING PARENT (and two wonderful sisters). Yeah family doesn’t have to be by blood OR lawful paperwork, but her actions in this scene really just. cuts off the feels at the knees. We KNOW she’s strong and independent but that doesn’t mean she HAS TO BE or even necessarily WANTS to be all the time. Over the course of the series we see her warming up to people, a kind word here, a little smile there, but this adoption refusal is.. harsh. Then we’ve got Sticky. Yes, he struggles with the comfort of the whisperer. And he overcomes it. BUT in one of the earlier episodes, they had him fighting with the team, defending the whisperer, dismissing his friends... and I count this as betrayal. It may be extreme on my part, but I think he went too far. The Society is the Society. In the book he bested his fears for them and with their support. Yeah he desperately wanted to just give in but he had PRINCIPLES and knew why he couldn’t. His honor, his responsibility to stop curtain, and his loyalty to his friends got him though. But in the show he just dumped them. And then was like, oh oops jk I’m back. (I knowwwwww the book has the privilege of being able to explain characters’ thought processes and emotional states, while shows have to work with more tangible actions and words but stilll I did not Like That) And finally, curtain wasn’t smart. He had hired people doing all the work. He just used it to his ends. Less evil genius and more manipulating creep. But this? I’m more ok with. As an villain, he got the job done. But this makes him less of a foil for Mr Benedict and more of an antagonist, if that makes sense. In the book they never knew each other, but were both alone in the world and greatly smart, and they chose verrry different paths. Whereas in the show he and B were always kind of opposites, warring in motivation and method from the start.

Let’s talk about the boss battle (such as it was). I said it was weak and I meant it. The book is heart pounding. There is so much going on, and so many people in play, the narration jumping all over the place in real time, all culminating in that clash at the top of the tower. Now, the show... the highs weren’t the highs. It felt more like checking off story points. Kate and constance outside - check. Resist the whisperer to stall for time - check. Milligan reveal - check. Reynie starting to figure out narcolepsy triggers - check. Constance shouting then you are the greatest fool of all - um, no, that didn’t happen. Constance defeating the whisperer - check. Curtain escapes - check. We got zero action. No good fights. I know Emmy Deoliveira is a kid and I’m not mad at her for not being able to do action sequences or run with Constance piggyback. But there was almost no physical conflict on-screen, and that’s Kate’s real time to shine. Also they had Number two and Rhonda in the tower ready to fight and then they just didn’t. All this build up for nothing. Furthermore, and I think this is the biggest problem, there was no momentum. Yeah they cut from scene to scene, but the music and tone cut scene-to-scene too. So there was like, dramatic music, Kate’s ready to fight! Get hyped! and then cut to absolutely silent, mr curtain staring at someone. feel mildly disturbed. and then cut to Rhonda and Number two being friends and ready to fight! Aww! And yay! Get hyped! And then cut back to Sticky sitting in a chair, dead silent. It goes on like this. The music, the urgency, should have carried throughout, building in intensity and desperation as the kids come together and curtain unravels more and more and then BAM! curtain down and OH NO! the whisperer and finally Constance’s “I... DON”T.... CARE!!!” and then the madcap escape from the island. Watching, I just couldn’t get swept away. Storywise, they tied it all up and logically it made sense but the emotional culmination just wasn’t there. It was over and done too quick. It fell flat. I didn’t feel the struggle, the suspense. And then they gave us a fabricated Mr B and Curtain conversation that didn’t really help anything. And then the falling action had some nice moments but as I mentioned, the things with constance and sticky kind of made it feel less relieving, joyful, and sweet. I know a snowball fight is elaborate to set and film but I would have loved to see it.

Final thoughts I can’t help but love the kids. I’ll say it again, I sure liked this casting. And for all the changes they had to make, the original central plot was there, and most of the characters were recognizable even with all the alterations. So I did have problems with some of that underlying integrity, as well as the overall tone and execution, but I also laughed at the little funny things, jammed to the title theme, and was excited to see this, my favorite book in the world, get more recognition. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to adapt a work of prose into an audiovisual medium, and considering how outlandish the book sometimes got, they gave it their best shot. I didn’t love it but I can recognize the accomplishment. In terms of faithful and well-made adaptations, on a scale of Percy Jackson to Harry Potter, I’d give The Mysterious Benedict Society a 6.5/10.

Track 2: Eichi and Rikka’s parenting talk

Eichi: -gulps down a drink- That was fun! Rikka, thank you for letting me watch the shoot.

Rikka: You’re welcome.

Eichi: Haa..hh, Rikka really is a professional model, after all. Your posture, facial expressions and glaces say it all. I ended up learning a lot of things from you! Well, I may say that, but I don’t think I can imitate something like that.

Rikka: You’re underestimating yourself, you can probably imitate most of it already. I actually envy Eichi for that. You’re tall, and your shoulder and chest width aren’t bad at all. You’ve also got some sort of presence already, you know? I think that you’ve got the ideal body for a male model.

Eichi: It’s true that my height fits… But I have a tendency to stoop over, so I hunch my back over a lot. I first noticed that after looking at a picture we took. It kinda makes me nervous from time to time, actually… So I’m in the middle of working on my posture. 

Rikka: Practicing walking in front of the mirrors in the lesson room could help. I can watch you next time.

Eichi: Eh!? Is that alright!? That would make me happy!

Rikka: No problem. I hope I can make up to you for this.

Eichi: Make up for what?

Rikka: For putting up with my selfishness from today. I suddenly asked you for an outing saying there was something I wanted to talk about, and I ended up making you wait quite a lot.

Eichi: Over something like that? I wouldn’t call that ‘being selfish’, though. Rather, the fact that you invited me made me really happy. 

Rikka: Oh… is that so?

Rikka: -chuckles- I told you earlier, but you don’t need to worry about something like that.

Eichi: I know. I know that you’ve told me that before, and it makes me think that not doing what you wish is sort of rude, but still...

Rikka: In this industry, especially the TV world, it’s all about that hierarchy, right?

Eichi: You’re right.

Rikka: Back in my days as a model, I was also overly conscious about it, but nowadays the people around me are easy-going. Everyone in Tsukipro is pretty frank after all.

Eichi: It must be the company’s atmosphere, huh…? Now that I think about it, Shu is also rather free-spoken. On our first meeting I asked him “Shall we exchange contact addresses?” and he looked really nonplussed.

Rikka: I know what you mean! Shiki reacted the same way!

Eichi: Shiki-san too!? It might be because they were once members of the same unit, but those two are really similar.

-Rikka spins the straw in his drink-

Rikka: Eichi, how’s Shu been lately? 

Eichi: Oh… Shu? 

Rikka: Is he resting properly? Beside QUELL’s activities, he must also have solo activities, right?

Eichi: Uhh… yeah! He’s pretty busy, but from what the manager told us, he’s trying to do things moderately. Shu himself said he’s actually used to taking small breaks during work. And recently he got back on track with QUELL’s activities, which made him look like the happiest man on earth. Considering the piles of jobs he has, he’s surprisingly still alive and kicking.

Rikka: I see. He’s pretty tough, as usual. He’s been working as a talent in this field for a long time, so I guess it feels like second nature to him…

Eichi: In the beginning I was really worried about him, but it doesn’t feel like he’s overworking himself. I started to wonder if maybe it’s time I let him manage his schedule by himself. Instead of asking myself “What does he have to do for today?”, I need to ask myself “How can I show him my support?”

Rikka: ‘How?’

Eichi: If he’s maybe depressed or something.

Rikka: Eeh...? Does he have those kinds of moments too?

Eichi: I’m not really sure, but probably. It’s hard to tell based on his expressions alone, and even if I were to ask him, he’s the type to deny it.

Rikka: Shu… doesn’t talk a lot about himself?

Eichi: In the beginning he used to tell us more about himself. But I always got the feeling he wouldn’t really go into details while at it. 

Rikka: Don’t you get worried thinking he might take too much on?

Eichi: Honestly, there are times when it irks me. But my wish to wait for him to open up by himself is stronger.

Rikka: Then… in those moments, do you simply keep quiet?

Eichi: Hmmm… I try to make small talks with him whenever that happens. Like, things that made him happy that day, or things he enjoyed. Whenever I do that, I feel like Shu’s expression lightens a bit. Though, I can’t really tell if I was being helpful or not~

Rikka: Shu must be really happy.

Eichi: You think? I hope so. Ah, sorry! I shot my mouth off!

Rikka: No, don’t worry about it! I was the one to open this topic. But… I see. QUELL’s ties really run deep.

Eichi: Yes! If they asked me about what we won’t lose to SolidS to, I’d say that it’s our bonds~! Just joking~!

Rikka: Bonds, huh.

Eichi: O..h… now that I think about it… You said that there was something you wanted to talk about...?

Rikka: Eh!? Ah…! ...Yeah.

Eichi: If by chance I went overboard with the things I said, I apologi-

Rikka: You’re wrong! ...It’s the opposite.

-Rikka takes a sip from his drink-

Rikka: Uhm… the thing is… I guess I was just wondering. ...Why am I unable to watch over the others and be there for them just like you? I’ve been reflecting on that a lot...

Eichi: Err… sorry if I’m wrong, but… Are you talking about Shiki-san?

Rikka: Bingo. Sometimes I feel like I nag him too much. Shu may have solo activities, but he’s rarely at a loss because of them. On the other hand, Shiki is different. His main job is composing, and his workload can be packed up to the point he won’t get out of his room. Not to mention how his biological clock is all over the place, I’m just…… worried.

Eichi: Ah… I suppose not knowing what to do made you get worried. I know the feeling. Sometimes just seeing his face in the morning and evening is enough to make you breathe easy again.

Rikka: Exactly. Though when I don’t even know whether he’s asleep or awake, I feel hesitant to call out to him.

Eichi: I can tell this is not something new for you though. I’ve always thought that you’ve been doing a good job backing him up until now, Rikka. To the point that I looked up to you as my goal.

Rikka: ‘Goal’ is a little exaggerated... 

Eichi: Not at all, I’m serious when I say this! Uh, is Shiki-san that busy right now? 

Rikka: Seems that way. I can tell he’s more into it than usual. He’s a workaholic, so he’s always enjoyed being busy, but this time it feels like he’s desperate… Even then, I can’t tell what exactly he’s so busy working on...

Eichi: Hmmm… Being asked that is kinda difficult… If for some reason he’s being quiet due to nervousness, or if he’s being worried since it’s something exclusive, it feels as if we’d be the ones intruding if we voiced unnecessary concerns...

Rikka: I’d rather be a nuisance if that’s all it takes to make him listen. With Shiki being the way he is right now, my words probably go in one ear and out the other. As long as he has his music in front of his eyes, anything else falls on second place. Ah, ...sorry. I made you wait for me only to listen to my complaints.

Eichi: Ah, no, not at all. In this situation, you have all the reasons to call out for help out of concern. SQ’s leaders are both too hard-working in the first place!

Rikka: Exactly! It’s even more frustrating when you can’t do anything to help them. But still, it’s really nothing new for me. I wish though I could show him my support better from now on.

Eichi: That’s right! How about we bring him back a souvenir? We might be able to lure Shiki-san out of his room with some tea.

Rikka: Oh, yeah. That doesn’t sound bad. It may be worth trying. 

Eichi: Alright! That’s settled, then! What should we go for?

Rikka: Fresh cream might be too heavy for the stomach considering he’s tired. What else is there…?

Rikka: Ah, what about daifuku with beans? The ones I got for a souvenir the other day were so delicious~

Eichi: Now you got me curious. Let’s check them out!

Worn interiors, small rooms and lack of light were ruining the potential of this 3,000 sq. ft. apartment on Barcelona’s Avenida Pau Casals. Due to its elongated shape, the biggest challenge we faced was bringing natural light into the middle section.

By changing the apartment’s internal layout, we were able to create a large, bright apartment with three bedrooms. We increased the master bedroom size and designed a multi-purpose space that includes a bedroom, dressing room, lounge, yoga room and bathroom. Three small rooms were transformed into an airy open-plan kitchen that flows directly into the dining room.

When choosing furniture, fixtures and decor, we sourced quality pieces from across Europe. The overall appearance, however, has a decidedly English flair. We decorated each en-suite and the guest bathroom with Drummonds’ utilities and all the artwork is from Spanish artists in Madrid and Arco. The result is a bold, contemporary living space, full of drama and character.

☆ Announcement regarding the SQ series「SolidS」’s CD schedule release ☆

As we have received the sickness information of Umehara Yuuichirou-sama, the voice actor of Murase Dai. We decided to postpone the future CD release of SolidS, the unit in which Murase Dai belongs to.

Putting the recovery of him in the first place, we will making another announcement in the future. We appreciates for the kind undestanding of SolidS fans.

As for the unit in the same series「QUELL」there is no change in the schedule release. we will proceed with the production and will report it in the meantime.

Hi! I want to ask something and sorry if my english is bad..You mentioned that in Solids crossover CD with Quell, there's a part where it made a portion of solids fans come to hate quell. And why is that? I'm new to tsukipro maybe that's why i'm never heard of it. Thank you very much^^

We’re talking about SolidS drama CD vol.2 Two of a Kind.

This is technically QUELL’s debut CD. I understand that it was Tsukipro’s intention to introduce its newest group to the existing SQ fans as “kouhai of SolidS”; it’s an effective and easy way to quickly make fans warm up to new characters when they have some sort of connection to the characters that you already know and love. It sounds like a good idea, but imo the execution was done poorly…

We get a very brief lead in to QUELL and its members by way of Shiki introducing Shu and co. to SolidS. Note that this is the VERY FIRST TIME that we’re meeting QUELL, so we don’t know much about their background or motivations. Tsubasa tries to be friendly and attempts to make small talk with the twins but unintentionally says something that makes Ichiru furious on Issei’s behalf. From then on Ichiru is incredibly spiteful towards Tsubasa, and most of the CD is focused on the conflict between the two.

From an objective standpoint, Ichiru’s anger is justified when you understand his background. But it’s not hard to see how SolidS fans would feel upset that this new character is attacking Tsubasa (and Tsubasa is arguably the most popular character in SolidS). Shu and Eichi obviously berate Ichiru for his behaviour (while Issei is gloriously level-headed and imo the MVP of this story), but for the most part the adults in both SolidS and QUELL leave them to sort things out by themselves. I’ve seen reviews from SolidS fans who said that because SolidS didn’t aggressively have Tsubasa’s back, the whole CD felt like an attack on Tsubasa (I disagree, but fans can be over-protective). There’s also a scene where both groups were at the same studio for shoots but due to scheduling issues SolidS’ session had to be changed to make way for QUELL. To fans of SolidS, it could come across as Tsukipro brushing SolidS aside for the new group.

I think the story itself was interesting and showed us some new facets of Tsubasa. I also liked that the adults were… well, mostly acting like adults. But frankly it was a really stupid move to introduce your new idol group as antagonists……. how did you think fans would react? >_> There were also complaints that despite it being branded a SolidS drama CD, QUELL occupied more than half of it. Just bad marketing decisions all around ;; If they had released this CD after QUELL vol.1 and marketed it as a flashback story for SolidS/QUELL, I really think QUELL would’ve received a much warmer reception from SolidS fans.

[Masterpost] SQ Neo X Lied Vol. 4 Translations

Hello, hello~!! I’m back with the final installment for SQ’s Neo X Lied Series~!! The Shu and Dai volume was really the one I was looking most forward to ever since the preview was released~!

The song was very dark and realistic, and the theme and message behind it are pretty, well... Let’s say they’re very eye-opening! I won’t spoil much about it for the translation’s sake, but I do hope that the message reaches everyone who reads it, too~!

After this will be the bonus CD that comes with ordering all of SQ Neo X Lied from the same retailer~! And then afterwards will be VAZZROCK bi-Color S3 Vol. 2 (Takaaki and Nao’s volume, yay~!!)
