Wounding Words
Tumblr media
Dean x reader
Warnings- ANGST, some fluff
Word Count-2713
Summary- Y/N gets hurt on a hunt. Dean gets angry that he almost lost her, and takes his anger out on her and pushes her away. Will he come to his senses before it's too late?
A/N- This has been on my Patreon for a few weeks. So, it's time to bring it to y'all. This is just one of a few stories on my Patreon right now. You can join my Patreon here
Y/N watched as Dean paced around the war room. It had been a rough hunt, and he was seething. She had seen him mad before, but this was different. He seemed like he wanted to burn the whole world down with his anger, and that was a little scary. Especially, since his anger seemed to be directed towards her as well.
She and Dean had been a couple for almost a year. It had taken them a long time to get to where they were. Y/N with her insecurities, and Dean with his self-loathing, had kept them from giving in to their feelings for years. She didn’t think he would want her with her love handles and thicker thighs, and he was afraid that if he gave in to his feelings, something bad would happen to her. And Y/N was almost positive that he was so angry because he and Sam nearly lost her on their hunt.
They had been hunting a vamp's nest. They had gotten down to the last few when Y/N saw one sneaking up behind Dean. After beheading the one in front of her, she ran to try and behead the one behind Dean before it could reach him. It was all working out just fine, until she stepped on a creaky floorboard, alerting the vamp that she was on the move. Before anyone could react, it was on her, teeth in her throat. Sam had made it her and threw it back for Dean to decapitate. But, not before the damage was done. As she lay bleeding out on the floor, Dean holding his hand to her neck, she could feel her body giving out. She was saying her goodbyes to Dean, but luckily, Sam had the wits about him to pray to Cas, who showed up just in time to heal her. Dean hadn’t acted right since, which led them to where they were now. Which was him pacing in front of her, the rage rolling off of him, as Sam tried to talk to him.
“Dean,” Sam tried to speak, but his brother cut him off as soon as his name left his mouth.
“No, Sam. Don’t try to tell me that it’s fine now. Everything is so damn far from fine,” he roared, slamming his fist down on the war room table, making Y/N and Sam flinch.
“Dude, she’s alive. Cas healed her. It could’ve been so much worse. Be thankful that we didn’t lose her.”
“Dean,” Y/N spoke softly as she approached him, “I’m okay. I know you were scared. I was too, but I’m here. Let’s just move on from today, okay?”
“Move on? You want me to just ignore that you were stupid and almost got yourself killed,” he yelled, flinging her hand from his arm as she touched him.
“Dean!,” Sam chastised his brother. He knew he was scared and going to say things he didn’t mean, and he wanted to prevent this from getting any worse.
“It’s the truth,” he growled, deflecting Y/N’s touch once again. But he was looking at his brother and didn’t see the pure agony she was in hearing his words, “She was reckless and almost died! You just want to act like it never happened?”
“Dean, please, I don’t want to fight with you,” she muttered meekly, barely holding in the tidal wave of tears that wanted to escape.
“Well, you should’ve thought about that, huh?” he said sarcastically, driving the hurt deeper into her heart.
“I’m sorry. I saw the vamp coming after you, and I couldn’t just stand there and watch it kill you!”
“Oh, so you didn’t want to watch me die, but I had to stand there and watch you bleed out? The hypocrisy with you is astounding. Just leave me alone,” he huffed.
“Please,” she tried, pleading with him one more time, wrapping her arms around his middle, “Let me fix it. I don’t want this to linger between us.”
“You can’t fix it! I watched you bleeding to death in my arms! If Cas hadn’t shown up, I’d be burning your corpse right about now! And you think a hug is going to fix it?” He screamed, throwing her arms away from him, “That’s another thing. I don’t always need you to try and fix everything. I’m not a damn child! You know what, I can’t do this. I’m going out. Don’t wait up.”
Y/N stood there heartbroken as she watched him stomp up the stairs and out the door. In all the years she’d known him, he’d never talked to her that way. Her body was frozen as Sam ran after his brother, the slamming of the bunker door brought her out of her stupor. Against her will, the tears began to flow down her face, her heart shattering in her chest. She ran for her room, grabbing her duffle and throwing her things in it haphazardly. She had to get out of there. She couldn’t be there to see the disdain on Dean’s face when he came back. What she didn’t know, was Dean had never made it to the impala. Sam had reached him before he could get away.
“What the hell is wrong with you, man? I know it was terrifying thinking that she was going to die, but don’t you think you should be hugging her a little tighter than usual instead of pushing her away?” Sam exclaimed as he grabbed Dean’s arm, spinning him around to look at him.
“Look, I don’t need a lecture from you. Pushing her away is what I have to do!”
“What are you talking about? You love that girl, and you can deny it all you want, but I can see it, Dean. So, explain to me why you’re trying to shove her out the door?” Sam asked, thoroughly confused by his brother’s actions.
“Because! Loving her is only going to get her killed! Tonight proved that. She almost died trying to save my sorry ass. I’d rather her be gone than watching her burn on a pyre one day. I can’t do it,” Dean shouted, his voice breaking with the emotion he was trying to keep hidden.
“You really are a dumbass. Y/N did what any other hunter would’ve done in that situation. You need to get your ass back in there and apologize before you lose one of the few good things you have.”
“I can't, Sammy. No matter how I feel about her, I’m poison. I break everything I touch, and despite how much I love her, I refuse to be the reason she gets killed. She deserves so much more than me, or what little I can give her. She probably doesn’t even feel the same way about me, anyway. So, I need to end it now, before it’s too late for her to get out and find someone she deserves.”
“You know that’s the first time I’ve ever heard you say that you love a woman out loud? And you’re going to let that slip away all because you don’t think you’re good enough? You’re the stupid one, dude. Y/N loves you too, you idiot! Everyone can see it but you, apparently. You were too busy throwing your little hissy fit in there to notice how you ripped her heart out and stomped on it. She was broken when you turned around and walked away. Someone doesn’t get that look on their face unless someone they love hurts them. And, man, you hurt her bad. But, if you want to walk away from that, go ahead, but you’ll live to regret it. You know what they say, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.”
Sam turned and walked away, leaving Dean there in a stupor. He hadn’t thought about watching her expressions as he went on his tirade. He was scared and trying to push her away. His only train of thought was getting her to leave so she could find someone better. As he stood there, trying to think of what to do, what Sam said kept playing on a loop in his head.
“You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.”
As he stood there with that repeating in his head, he had to face the truth. Could he really watch her leave? Could he live the rest of his life without her, not knowing where she was or who she was with? That’s when he realized he didn’t really want to lose her, he’d let his fear overrule his heart, and he knew then he needed to try and fix it. His legs were moving before he knew what had happened, leading him straight to her door. He could hear her crying as he approached and it broke his heart. He did this to her. He made her cry, breaking her heart with his cruel words, and he hated himself for it. He knocked on her door before his self-hatred and guilt made him walk away.
“I don’t want to talk right now, Sam,” her voice carried through the door, making him feel even more guilty. She sounded so broken and dejected, and it was all his fault.
“It’s me,” he spoke softly, trying to let his voice convey how sorry he felt, as he waited for her reply, but there was nothing. He knocked again. Silence.
“Sweetheart, I just want to talk.”
“I think you said enough, don’t you?” she answered, trying to sound stern, but he knew her well enough to hear the apprehension in her tone.
“Please,” he almost begged, wanting to fix this. But just more silence.
He laid his head against her door, her silence speaking volumes. She was done, and it was his fault. He took a deep breath before speaking to her one last time.
“Y/N, I’m sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I was scared. Watching you dying was more than I could take. I wanted to make you leave, so you could find someone you deserved, someone you could be with that didn’t risk your life every day. Honestly, I deserve to lose you. Like I told, Sam, I break everything I touch, and I broke you with my words. And when I said I didn’t need you to fix me, I lied. I need you, sweetheart. I need you like the air I breathe. Y/N, I’m so sorry. I can never take those words back, and I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but can you please forgive me?” he pleaded, whispering the last three words, “I love you.”
He stood at her door waiting to see if she would open the door, but nothing. Complete silence. He’d done it. He had broken her heart and hurt her beyond repair. With a sigh, he placed his hand on her door, trying to commit her to memory.
Y/N was on the other side, listening to what he had to say. Her head told her to make him leave, but her heart told her to open the door and let him apologize. She heard a pitiful sound come from the other side of the door, and that made up her mind. She flung the door open to see him standing there, tears falling down his face.
“D-Did I break us?” he managed to choke out through his sobs.
“Do you mean it?” she asked, her red-rimmed eyes boring into his.
“Yes! I’m so sorry, Y/N. I don’t deserve you, but if you’ll have me, you’re all I could ever want. I let the fear of losing you get to me, and I know I can’t take back what I said, but I’ll try to make it up to you every day for the rest of my life if you’ll let me,” he rambled through his tears.
“No, not that. The last thing you said.”
“That I want you to forgive me? Of course, I meant it!”
“That’s not the last thing you said, Dean.”
“I’m lost, sweetheart. That’s the last thing I remember saying.”
“Never mind. You obviously didn’t mean it if you don’t even remember saying it,” she sighed, stepping back to shut the door, when it hit him what she was talking about. He grabbed the door before she closed it on him.
“Yes, I meant it. I love you. I love you so much that it terrifies me. That’s why I lost my mind when you almost died. The thought of losing you made me sick with grief. And I know I tried pushing you away, so me saying that doesn’t make much sense, but after I thought about living the rest of my life without you in it, I realized I can’t. I can’t live not knowing where you are, or if you’re okay. I need you, sweetheart. I need you to be there with that beautiful smile when I walk into the kitchen every morning. I need you to give me hugs like you do when I’m having a bad day, and most of all, I need you to fix me when I get so broken that I don’t even know how to begin to fix myself. I love you, Y/N. And I want to spend the rest of my days proving that to you if you can forgive me,” he sniffled, reaching to cup her face in his hands, wiping away her tears with his thumbs as they streamed down her cheeks.
“I forgive you,” she whispered, placing her hand on his cheek, him leaning into her touch, “I never wanted to leave you.”
Hearing that she forgave him, made his heart swell. He smiled, leaning in to kiss her. He tried to pour everything he felt into the kiss. How guilty he felt, how sorry he was, and most importantly, how much he loved her. The kiss was soft but passionate. One of those kisses that don’t lead to anything sexual, but still toe-curling. Once they had to part to take a breath, he couldn’t contain his smile. She really forgave him.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he repeated the sentiment, realizing how good it felt to say it to her.
“I love you, too, Dean. I have for a long time,” she admitted, her declaration making his breath hitch.
“Really? You love me, too?” he whispered in astonishment. Even though Sam had told him that she loved him, he didn’t truly believe it. He never thought he would be worthy of love from someone as good as her.
“Don’t be so shocked, babe. Contrary to what you believe, you’re a good man, Dean Winchester, and I’m a lucky woman to get the chance to love you,” she stood on her toes, kissing him softly, “You just have to start believing it yourself.”
“Did I tell you I love you?” he chuckled, her words meaning more to him than she’d ever understand.
“I think it’s been said once or twice,” she laughed, him joining her. She loved to hear him laugh. It was music to her ears.
“Just once or twice?! Well, I think we need to fix that, don’t you?” he beamed, cupping her face once again to kiss her.
“I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you,” he said, kissing her between every declaration.
“Dean Winchester, one might think you’re secretly a hopeless romantic,” she cackled, joy filling her to hear him say he loved her.
“Only for you, sweetheart. I’ve never felt this way about anyone else.”
“You don’t have to lie to me, Dean. I know you’ve loved other women,” she sighed, not really liking to think about Cassie and Lisa.
“I’m not lying. I have loved two other women, but sweetheart, it’s nothing like what I feel for you. I mean it. What I felt for them doesn’t hold a candle to the love I have for you.”
“I love you,” she said in awe, seeing in his eyes he was serious, “More than I can ever describe.”
“Well, that’s good. ‘Cause if I have my way, you’re stuck with me for a very long time.”
“That sounds perfect,” she giggled, pulling him down to her for another kiss.

It Felt Right
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Female!Reader
Word Count: ~1k
Warnings: none!
Request by anon: #4 last one, i swear. Idk if you watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but I love the whole 'kissing so we don't break our cover' thing that Jake and Amy do, and I think that would be so good for dean x reader.
Summary: Dean has to think on his feet before you get caught on a case.
Square Filled: caught red handed (2021) for @spnfluffbingo
Author’s Note: i appreciate any and all comments! <3
Tumblr media
Sam is sick, which is why you and Dean are taking on this case solo. There is a rumor of a man who is hoarding a bunch of cursed objects that he plans to use on people. Your job is to infiltrate the party he’s at because you think that he will hit the party.
Before you were a hunter, you were a professional hacker. People came to you and paid you to hack stuff, and your clientele list was very long. You were making good money until you got caught up with some monsters pretending to be humans, and that’s when you met Sam and Dean.
You were able to use your skills to get you and Dean an invitation to this party so you don’t have to sneak in and ruin things before they have a chance to kick off. The party you’re going to is formal, so Dean had to rent a suit that makes his body look amazing. He hates suits, but he needs to do this if he wants to blend in.
You, on the other hand, are excited to dress up. You normally don’t have opportunities to do this, so when you can get dolled up, then you’re taking the chance.
“I hate this suit,” Dean complains once you two are in the door.
This party is for recon only. You don’t want to start a fight here with innocent people. If you can figure out where the cursed objects are, then one of you can leave to get the weapons while the other stays with the man in question.
“I know you do. It’s for one night. You can suck it up. Besides,” you pause and fix his tie slowly, “you look very handsome. Be more flexible. Blend in.”
“If I recall, you’re the flexible one,” he smirks.
“I did the splits once and I’ll never hear the end of it,” you chuckle.
Dean looks around the party and locks eyes with the man in question. It is only for a second or two, but Dean looks away in case the guy recognizes him. Sam and Dean have been in and out of the monster world so many times that they know who they are and what they look like. Still, the guy doesn’t seem to recognize Dean.
“There he is. Come on.”
Dean places his hand on the small of your back and guides you across the room and around the other chatting couples. No one even seems to realize that you and Dean aren’t supposed to be here. If you had worn what you usually wear, then everyone would notice for sure.
“I told you these outfits were a good idea,” you whisper.
“Yeah, yeah,” Dean chuckles.
The man walks into a restricted area, but the guards around the door aren’t paying attention to who enters or leaves. They are too busy chatting with the other guests. Some security this place has.
When the time is right, you two sneak through the door only to see it’s a very long hallway with a dozen doors on either side. The man is already halfway down the hall with his back turned to you. He must not have heard you two come in.
“Dean, where do we go? We need to hide.”
You really don’t want to find out what will happen if this guy turns around and sees a Winchester waiting for him. The man doesn’t seem to notice you two panicking, but that doesn’t mean he won’t turn around at any time. Maybe if you can see what door he goes into, you can leave and come back a few minutes later to check it out.
Before you have a chance to do anything, the guy turns and makes eye contact with Dean once more.
“What are we going to do?” you panic whisper. “Do something.”
Dean doesn’t hesitate to pull you into him. Without thinking, he presses his lips against your own, kissing you as if he’s been doing it his whole life. Your entire body goes rigid until your brain catches up to you.
This is Dean Winchester. Dean Winchester is your best friend. Your best friend is kissing you.
He slides on hand into your hair to pull you closer as if you actually can. He’s got you pressed against him as much as he physically can. Your head is swarming with images of him, you can’t smell anything but him, and he’s invading your mouth with his tongue.
“You’re not supposed to be here.”
Dean pulls away from you the second his tongue touches yours. He looks at the man you’d been following, but you can’t do anything but look at Dean.
“Sorry, man, I needed somewhere to kiss my girl in private. It’s a madhouse out there,” Dean chuckles smoothly.
You can’t look at the man in fear he’ll see something in your dazed eyes. The only place you can look at are Dean’s lips, and even that is proving to be difficult.
“Yeah, I understand. You can’t be in here, though.”
“I’m sorry. We’ll leave right now.”
Dean wraps an arm around your waist and practically drags you out of the hallway and back to the main party. Once the door is closed, you think Dean is going to address the kissing part, but he doesn’t go near it.
“I saw a door at the other end of the hallway. If we split up, then we can find a way to the back entrance. The cursed objects have to be around here somewhere.”
“Um--”
Words don't seem to want to come out of your mouth, but Dean doesn’t have time to waste on this.
“Call me if you need me.”
The minor crush you have on your best friend is magnified to a thousand. He leaves your side, but you can’t seem to move. When best friends kiss, there always seems to be awkwardness between them. Like they never should have kissed in the first place.
You can’t explain it, but kissing Dean felt more than okay. It felt like it’s what you are meant to be doing your whole life.
It felt right.
With a touch to your lips, you turn and go the opposite way as Dean went.
“Why did you kiss her, idiot. You may have ruined everything,” Dean curses at himself.
If there is one thing to be sure, it’s Dean’s feelings for you. He prays he hasn't just ruined what you two have.

Sneak Peeks
Below the read more link is some sneak peeks and previews for fics I am working on. As well as some ramblings of ideas that I've been playing with. So far, these are all reader insert where the reader is in a particular role. So you'll have to imagine yourself as a specific character style. I will try to keep the reader as descriptively neutral as possible in terms of eye, hair, and skin color, but they are all Female reader at the moment.
Underworld's Princess Preview
“So this Illiara, what is she?” Dean asked as he looked at Y/N.
He couldn’t help but notice a sad look in her eyes as she told the tale.
“She’s their last daughter,” she sighed. “No one knows what she is a Goddess of, but something happened, and she’s running from the Gods.”
“So she’s not good, but she’s not bad? Is that what you’re saying?” Dean shook his head with a huff, “I mean, I just don’t trust monsters, period. And these Gods are just that, monsters.”
“Look, you know as well as I do that nothing in this world is black and white,” she began, “there are grey areas that we just can’t explain.”
“Are we actually having a decent conversation?” Dean asked, offering her a smile.
“I guess we are,” Y/N agreed.
“You know it doesn’t hurt to give me your last name,” Dean said.
“Why? So you can look me up? Nah, I like the mystery behind myself,” she leaned back and hummed. “I should really get going.”
“You sure?” Dean’s face was concerned as she began to grab her belongings.
“Yeah,” she sighed, “I gotta keep moving. Don’t like to stay in one place for too long.”
“Then I guess we’ll see you out there,” he muttered, holding his hand to her.
The minute she took it, she could feel the electricity running through them. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest.
Dean felt it, too, his heart soaring at just the thought of holding her hand. There was something in her eyes that seemed to call him for help. Or maybe it was a trick of the light, but he could have sworn that they flashed purple for just a second.

Devil's Backbone
Cowboy!Dean x Reader Fic
The wooden steps to the Gallows creaked with every step Dean and Sam Winchester took. The elder brother, Dean, looked out into the crowd. His eyes locked with hers as the sheriff grabbed his arm to guide him towards the nose that would be his end.
“Dean and Samuel Winchester,” the judge said as he stood to the side of the Gallows, “you are charged with robbery, murder, and kidnapping,” the judge then turned to them, “do you have any last words?”
Dean gave a soft smirk before looking at his brother, “What do you think, Sammy? Do we have any last words?”
“I don’t know, Dean,” Sam said as he straightened his back, “I guess just that, you won’t be able to keep good men down.”
“That’s the damn truth,” Dean agreed, cracking his neck as he prepared himself for the lever to be pulled, giving way to the trap door below his feet.
He turned to the crowd, and locked eyes with her, the woman he never thought could steal his heart. He gave her a wink before his body shot down once the trap door was open. Both Sam and Dean’s body hung as they stilled. The woman was looking away from the scene, her heartbreaking slightly. How did they get to this point? Especially when Dick Roman pulled all the strings?

Moon Goddess's Daughter and the Alpha
“Your highness,” Artemis called, taking her attention away from the mirrored water.
“Yes, Artemis,” she frowned upon seeing the frown on her head warrior's face. “What is wrong?”
“The barrier has been breached,” Artemis informed her.
The warrior bowed her head in shame.
“He found us,” Selene whispered as she rushed to Artemis’ side. “You must take Y/N and flee. She must be hidden from him until she finds her mate, or at least,” she paused, glancing at the large pool in the middle of her office, “he finds her.”
“My Queen?” Artemis gave her a puzzled look.
“I have a plan, but you must trust me,” she placed a firm hand on Artemis’s shoulder.
Artemis followed the Queen as they made their way to Y/N.
Reaching the training grounds, Artemis couldn’t help but smile as the Princess had Zack pinned to the ground. Zack, Y/N’s trainer, had been working with the princess since the tender age of 6. Zack was one of Artemi’s most skilled pupils and head of the squad protecting the young princess.

Huntress and the Red Hood
Jason Todd!Dean Winchester X Batmans Daughter!Reader
Jason rolled his eyes but froze when he saw Y/N at the top of the stairs. She wore a lavender-colored halter top dress with a puffed-out skirt made of tule. He hadn’t realized that his mouth was hanging open until Dick came over and pushed his mouth close.
“You’ll catch flies if you keep your mouth open like that,” he chuckled.
“I– well– shut up,” Jason mumbled as he watched Y/N get help from Alfred down the stairs. “How long do we have to be here anyway,” Jason breathed. “We aren’t even his real kids… well, except Y/N.”
“We make our appearances like anyone else, Jase,” Dick said as he gave Jason a firm pat on the back. “Y/N, you look stunning,” he said, his attention shifting to the young woman, taking her hand and kissing the back of it.
“Thanks, Dick,” she said shyly before turning to Jason, “Oh, you actually can clean yourself up. I give it two minutes before you’re tearing your suit off and running off to cause mischief.”
“Please,” Jason huffed. “I can behave.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and walked over to her father’s waiting arm. Jason watched as Bruce escorted Y/N to the manor's ballroom, where a small string quartet was playing. He hung back and watched as Bruce danced with Y/N and talked to her. He wondered what the conversation was about, as by the end, Y/N gave Bruce a bright smile and hugged him tightly.

And that is all, for now. Feel free to comment on what you think and what you feel up to reading I would love to hear from all of you.

Forever
Once upon a hunt, two hearts entwine,
A hunter named Dean and an angel divine.
Castiel's grace and Dean's hunting skill,
Together they fought with a force to thrill.
Their bond grew stronger with every fight,
Feelings they couldn't ignore or slight.
One fateful day, they both confessed,
With a kiss, their love was truly blessed.
But obstacles came as ever so true,
Heaven and Hell against them, what to do?
Sacrifices made and secrets kept,
Their love was worth it, they never wept.
A giant Hellhound came, causing alarm,
Snatching away Castiel from Dean's arms.
A deal with Crowley, the King of Hell,
To find his love, Dean couldn't dwell.
Through the fight, Dean's love was the key
He rescued Castiel, set him free.
With the Hellhound gone and love intact,
Their bond forever, they'll never lack.
Through every trial, they'll stand as one,
A hunter and his angel, forever young.
Their love a force that cannot be tamed,
Together they'll hunt, forever proclaimed.

Too Many Beds
main masterlist | supernatural masterlist
summary: you want nothing more than an excuse to sleep next to dean again
pairing: (pre-s1/s1) dean winchester x female reader
rating: R for language
word count: 2.1k
warnings: none really, language, bed sharing, kissing, mutual pining, idiots in love, brief mention of the death of reader’s dad
timeline: starts slightly before season one, ends near the beginning of season one
author’s note: a spin on the classic 'just one bed, what ever shall we do?' trope lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’d known Dean all your life, practically. You met him when you were six and he was eight; two lonely little kids stuck with absent (job-driven) fathers and baby brothers you felt responsible for. Over the course of the last eighteen-or-so years you ran into the Winchesters during hunts enough that you considered them family.
When Sam left for college you were there for Dean and when you lost your dad in a hunting accident Dean was there for you. He actually stayed with you, not wanting you to hunt alone since your brother was off at college too.
So, for the last six months you’d been hunting with Dean (who hadn’t spoken to Sam for over a year).
“One room, two queens,” Dean said to the woman behind the counter, placing “his” credit card on the space between them before sliding it toward her.
“We’re all booked up I’m afraid,” she said.
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, I was actually about to turn on the no vacancy sign.”
“This is the third motel we’ve been to,” you said, “every one of them has been full—you’ve gotta have something!”
“I mean, there’s technically one room left but the heater’s out and my boss said not to let anyone sleep there because of that.”
There was a silent pause; you and Dean shared a knowing look.
“We’ll pay in cash, your boss ‘ll never know,” you told the woman. She smiled and nodded as you paid her with cash.
“Room 209, my boss gets here at ten tomorrow morning so please leave before then.” She handed you the key and you nodded in thanks.
You had underestimated just how cold the room could be, but when you unlocked and opened the door you understood why the owner didn’t want anyone staying here.
“Son of a bitch,” Dean mumbled, following you into the room and feeling the cold air. “We’re gonna freeze our asses off in here!” he quickly closed the door behind him, hoping the icy air hadn’t swept any snow into the room.
“It’s either this or we sleep in the Impala,” you shrugged, “and, no offense to your car, but it’s fuckin’ uncomfortable to sleep in.”
“And there’s only one bed,” Dean sighed.
“I’m gonna take a quick shower,” you told him, ignoring his complaints.
**
“Are you shivering or crying?” Dean asked.
You rolled over so you could meet his stare; “Shivering! It’s fuckin’ cold in here!”
“You wanna…cuddle up, maybe?” he asked hesitantly.
“Excuse me?” you laughed a little.
“Look, I’m not thrilled about it either, but it’s cold in here and unless we both wanna catch fucking pneumonia we better be smart and share body heat.”
You sighed, weighing your options; “Fine. But we never, and I mean never speak of this again, you hear me?”
“Understood.” He nodded.
You rolled back over as he scooted closer to you. He wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, pulling you into his chest.
“This okay?” he asked quietly, his lips ghosting the back of your head.
“Yeah,” you mumbled back. “Thank you, Dean.”
**
You woke up to the sound of Dean snoring loudly. You were used to his snores, sure, but he’d never been this close. He was laying on his stomach and resting on your chest; his mouth open and his hair tickling your neck. Your first reaction was annoyance but then it quickly washed away as you realized you didn’t want to move a muscle, so Dean could continue sleeping.
And the more you laid there, listening to his snores, the more you realized how comfortable you were…even in such a physically uncomfortable situation.
As the time passed and the sun began to rise, you cursed the light that was slowly but surely peeking through the curtain and onto Dean’s face.
“Morning,” he mumbled to you as he lifted his head up. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his right hand before wiping his mouth. “Sorry,” he chuckled, noticing the small spot on your gray sweater dampened with his drool.
“It’s okay,” you mumbled back. “I think it’s your sweater anyway.”
“I thought it looked familiar.”
He rolled off of you and out of bed.
You watched as he padded across the dirty carpet and over to the small kitchen. He turned on the coffee maker and the loud, off putting grinding noise made his face scrunch before he quickly shut off the (definitely broken) machine.
“So much for coffee,” he grumbled. “You gonna sit there all morning or you wanna get outta here? We’ve got a long drive ahead of us.”
“I’m getting up,” you replied. You would usually be annoyed at him for rushing you to wake up, but this time the annoyance was…different. Something about his bedhead, the way his lips were pouting over the lack of caffeine, and how he looked in his brown Henley and baggy sweats just made you wanna hold him again. All you wanted was to pull him back into bed with you and hold him in your arms forever.
**
You were beyond frustrated at this point. How many stupid fucking hotels had to have vacant rooms with two beds and a functional heating system!?
It had been nearly six months since you and Dean shared a bed and you had been looking for an excuse to sleep next to him ever since.
But the last couple weeks had been different—Sammy was back. Yes, you loved Sam like a brother, but you missed getting to be alone with Dean. You missed sitting shotgun in the Impala and watching him drive.
Sam definitely noticed the way you looked at Dean, but the younger Winchester didn’t say a word. Without being too obvious about it, he tried to do little things that would let you be close to his brother. He’d sit in a certain chair or part of the couch so that you and Dean had no choice but to sit together. Or he’d make some lame excuse so that he got his own room while you and Dean had to share. “I need to do some more research and I need the light, why don’t you two just sleep in the other room?” for example.
**
“Two rooms, please,” Dean said, reaching into his coat pocket for his wallet.
“Unfortunately we’ve only got one room left,” the cashier replied.
You almost couldn’t believe your ears, fucking finally!
“Oh, that’s too bad,” you faked your best frustrated look, of course Sam saw right through that.
“Well, I am not sharing with either or you,” he said with a teasing smile.
“There’s actually a pullout couch in that room, as luck would have it,” the cashier informed the three of you.
God fucking damn it, you thought to yourself.
**
It was barely after two when you felt the bed behind you dip, and you shook yourself awake.
“The hell?” you asked, still half asleep.
“The pullout couch isn’t working,” Dean mumbled quietly. “You mind sharing with me?”
You smiled a little and scooted closer into his arms, indicating you were okay with him sleeping next to you.
“Of course I don’t mind sharing with you,” you whispered and his grip tightened.
**
“I’m gonna go get breakfast,” Sam announced. “I’m assuming you want your usual?”
Dean put his right pointer finger to his lips and furrowed his brows angrily. He gestured to you as you slept and Sam got the message.
“Usual is good,” Dean whispered before Sam left.
Dean stayed laying perfectly still as you slept on his chest, soft snores escaping your lips and to Dean they were the sweetest sound.
As you stirred awake slowly, he rubbed your back a little.
“Morning,” you mumbled, a small smile on your lips. “Where’s Sam?”
“He went to grab breakfast,” Dean told you.
You furrowed your brows as you sat up, looked across the room, and realized something; “The pullout bed looks fine? I thought you said it wasn’t working?” You turned back to Dean, who had a sheepish grin growing on his lips.
“So…maybe I’ve just been looking for an excuse to sleep next to you again. Like we did back in that motel when the heat was out.”
“Really?” You attempted to hide the smile trying to find its way onto your face.
“When we were checking in last night I noticed how your face lit up when they said there was only one room left,” Dean admitted. “And I saw that disappointed look you made when they said there was a pullout couch. So, am I wrong, or have you been wanting an excuse too?”
“I really liked sleeping next to you that night,” you said, avoiding eye contact. “And you’re right, I have been hoping for another ‘oh no just one bed, guess we’ll have to share’ situation but…”
“But what?” Dean asked when you trailed off. You looked down at him.
“Dean, you and Sam have been like my brothers for as long as I can remember. I mean, Bobby practically raised all three of us and my actual brother as siblings! Your dad and my dad knew each other basically forever and I guess…I guess I figured our lives are too entangled for anything to ever actually happen between us. We’re family.”
“Chosen family, Y/n.” Dean smiled softly. “Doesn’t mean you have to be my chosen sister, you could be my chosen…you know…”
You leaned down and placed a soft kiss on his full lips.
“That,” Dean finished his previous statement.
“Let’s just keep this between us for now, okay?” you suggested. “If Sam finds out, then your dad will find out, and he’ll immediately tell my brother, then before we know it Bobby—”
“I get the picture, sweetheart,” Dean chuckled before kissing you again. He put his hands on your cheeks as he sat up. He pulled you onto his lap, your legs now straddling his hips. His hands moved to your shoulders then trailed down to your lower back as yours went into his hair. You pulled away from him after a moment, huge smiles on both your faces.
You looked into his eyes, his truly beautiful eyes, and you bit your bottom lip ever so slightly. Your right hand rested on his left cheek, your thumb stroking his skin lovingly.
“You’re awesome, Dean Winchester,” you whispered.
“You’re fuckin’ incredible,” he replied before he kissed you again. “And gorgeous, too,” he added. “You know how fuckin’ annoying it’s been, sleeping without you every night since that one time?”
“I do know, Dean, I’ve been just as annoyed about it.”
Dean kissed you one more time before he wrapped his arms around you in a tight embrace, tucking his head into your neck. You wrapped your arms around him too, pressing your lips to his temple.
You pulled out of the hug so you could once again look at his face. Resting your forehead on his, you smiled before you kissed him again.
“Breakfast,” Sam called out as he opened the door, “is served!”
You and Dean froze for a split second before you hurried off of him.
“Shit, I’m sorry,” Sam said, “did I interrupt you two?”
“What?” you scoffed. “Of course not!”
“Interrupt? There’s nothing to interrupt?” Dean added.
“Oh…wow you two are fast,” Sam mumbled, shaking his head as he made his way to the kitchen before putting the food down. “Well, pancakes, eggs, and bacon from the continental breakfast.” He gestured to the food now on the table. “Hope you’re hungry.”
As Sam sat down to eat, you looked at Dean anxiously. Say something you begged him with your eyes.
“Sammy,” Dean started as he got out of bed, “would you mind uh…not telling dad? About me and Y/n…kissing just now? When we find him, I mean.”
“Dad’s never really been invested in your love life, but he’s not an idiot,” Sam laughed.
“So…you are gonna tell him?” Dean furrowed his brows in frustration.
“Dean, he knows you two are together, it’s not some big secret?” Sam replied, shoveling more food into his mouth. “Damn that’s good.”
“Okay, just hold on—what?” Dean asked. “What do you mean dad knows? There’s been nothing to know since like four minutes ago?”
“Wait,” Sam stopped eating and fully turned to face you and his brother, “are you trying to tell me this is the first time you two have kissed?” Sam furrowed his brows deeply as you and Dean both nodded. “So…never in high school?” You shook your heads again. “That prom we crashed?”
“Sam you were there the whole time? When would we have kissed?” you asked.
“Huh,” Sam let out a laugh. “I genuinely thought you two had been a thing since like… ‘98.”
“What!?” you and Dean exclaimed in unison.

I read a fic once where Dean and Cas fuck after Dean finally goes to heaven and like…yeah it was hot or whatever who cares but…..it started with Dean driving around Heaven in his Impala and then Cas suddenly appearing in the driver’s seat shouting, “TETANUS?!?!?! REALLY?!?!!! AFTER EVERY THING, YOU LET IT BE A RUSTY FUCKING POLE?!?!?!”
And like, pop off, hotwings. You’re so right. That ending was dumb as hell.

Dean x reader
Word Count- 3885
Warnings- SMUT, idiots in love, mutual pining
A/N- I was listening to my playlist, and "Cry To Me" by Solomon Burke played, and this whole fic played out in my mind, so I had to write it! I really hope you all enjoy it as much as I did writing it!
Dean was walking through the bunker, wondering where Y/N had disappeared to. One minute she was sitting at the table in the library, and when he came back in from the garage, she was gone. It wasn’t uncommon for her to disappear somewhere in the bunker, but he needed to do a supply run and wanted to ask her if she needed anything.
He caught himself wanting, no, needing to make sure she was okay lately, checking in with her before he even asked Sam if he needed anything. He knew why but didn’t want to admit it out loud. Dean was ass over tea kettle in love with Y/N. How could he not be? She was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on, not to mention that she could hold her own on any hunt put before her. She was smart. As he would put it, she was Sammy smart. She knew her lore just as well as his brother, and that was impressive, considering Sam was a giant, walking encyclopedia.
He and Y/N had been friends for years. She had moved into the bunker with them not long after he and Sam had discovered its existence. But they had known each other long before that. Bobby had introduced her to the brothers shortly after John’s death. Her father had been a hunting buddy of Bobby’s, and he had taken her in when her father had gotten killed on a hunt. Granted, she was twenty-four when her father died, but Bobby didn’t want her to be out there on her own. Dean had been smitten from the first time he had seen her but never acted on it, happy to have her as a friend until lately. Now, she was all he could think about, and to be honest, it was scaring the shit out of him.
His thoughts were interrupted as he walked upon her door. What sounded like her TV on had gotten his attention. He peeked in her cracked door and couldn’t help but smile at the sight before him. Y/N was sitting cross-legged on her bed, her hair up in a messy bun, her eyes glued to the movie playing in front of her. Even in her old pajamas, her hair a mess on top of her head, Dean had never seen anything as beautiful. His heart fluttered in his chest as he looked at her, a smile pulling at his lips as he knocked on her door to let her know he was there. He could stand there and watch her all day, but he didn’t want her to catch him staring and think he was a creep.
“Hey, Y/N. I’m heading out on a supply run. Do you need anything?” he asked, smirking as her eyes never left the TV to look at him.
“Nah, I’m good.”
“Movie that good, huh?” he laughed, finally making her break her eyes away and look at him.
“Damn right it is,” she exclaimed loudly, a small giggle leaving her, making Dean’s heart flutter yet again, “It’s one of my favorite movies.”
“Really? Dirty Dancing is one of your favorites?”
“Absolutely! It’s a classic!”
“I don’t know about that,” he chuckled, trying to aggravate her. He loved when he could get her flustered. It was the cutest damn thing.
“Are you serious right now?! It’s so romantic. Especially this scene,” she sighed dreamily as she turned her attention back to the movie.
Dean looked up to see it was the scene where Johnny was dancing with Baby in his cabin. Yes, he knew this scene, as he had seen this movie before. Swayze always gets a pass!
“Women really find this stuff romantic?” he questioned, watching her reaction closely.
“Yes,” she replied softly, watching the scene intently, “And a man that can dance is just sexy.”
His heart almost stopped when she smiled and winked at him, her gaze swiftly returning to the movie. He watched her as she continued to watch, her expression was soft, and did he see want in her eyes as she watched the two on TV dance together?
Little did he know that he was right. Her heart beat faster as she watched the scene, her imagination running wild as she pictured it was her and Dean dancing together that way. Her chest felt tighter as the sadness that it would never happen washed over her. All she wanted was for Dean to want her as badly as she wanted him, but he would never see her that way. She sighed softly as she looked over to see him still looking at her, and she smiled, trying to cover the hurt she was feeling at that moment.
“Actually, could you pick me up some ice cream? I feel like just being lazy and eating junk while I watch movies all day,” she asked, knowing she needed to be alone the rest of the day. It was getting harder to hide her feelings for him, and she didn’t have the strength to fight it today.
“Sure thing, sweetheart.”
It had been a few days since she had spent the day by herself. She was glad Dean had left her alone, considering she had watched, as he would call them, ‘chick flicks’ and cried at the longing to be with him, knowing it would never happen. Luckily, today was a better day. She had cried out all her frustrations and was happy to be in the library with the boys. She smiled as she looked around her, grateful that she was where she was. A hunter’s life can be very lonely, and even though she wanted to be with Dean other than his friend, she had to accept that it could be worse. At least she had them in her life at all. The sound of a chair scraping the floor broke her thoughts as she saw Dean standing and walking out towards his room.
“What’s that about?” she asked, looking at Sam for an answer.
“No clue. Who really knows with him,” he shrugged, returning to the book he was reading.
She looked between Sam and where Dean had disappeared down the hallway. She sighed as she stood to go to her room. So much for spending time with Dean today, it seemed. He had been acting off since he left her room the day she was watching movies, now that she thought about it. She couldn’t figure out what happened that would make him distance himself from her. The more she pondered on it, she realized he had been holed up in his room a lot since that day. She felt her phone buzzing in her pocket as she reached her bedroom door. Taking it out to see that Dean had texted her asking her to come to the Dean cave. Maybe she would get to spend some time with him after all.
As she opened the door to the room, she saw Dean standing in the corner beside his record player, a shy smile on his face. Curious, she walked into the room, shutting the door behind her as she approached the man she longed to be closer to. He looked nervous, which wasn’t a look that she had seen on Dean very often. Once she was standing beside him, she looked up to see him staring down at her, his hand reaching out for her.
“Dance with me?” he whispered, terrified she would deny him.
She stood in shock momentarily, wondering if she had heard him right or if her ears were deceiving her. She looked between his face and his hand, frozen in disbelief. Before she could say anything, a look of hurt and rejection crossed his features as he started to pull his hand away. That jolted her out of her stupor, quickly grabbing his hand before he could put it in his pocket.
“I’d love to,” she smiled shyly, squeezing his hand gently.
His smile lit up the room. She hadn’t rejected him after all, and now, he hoped this would work as he had planned. With her hand in his, he picked up the needle to the player, sitting it on the record, turning to wrap her in his arms. As the music began to fill the room, she was stunned. The song played in the scene from Dirty Dancing she was watching when he came into her room that day. He began to sway with her exactly how Johnny was dancing with Baby. She couldn’t contain her giggle as he held her to him.
“Seriously? Damn it, woman, I’m trying to be romantic here,” he grumbled, looking at her with his best bitch face.
“I’m so sorry. Please continue,” she answered, not able to contain her smile.
He rolled his eyes dramatically but continued to sway her body with his. Her smile disappeared when he pulled her tighter to him, leaning down to rest his forehead on hers, his breath fanning her face. The look in his eyes made her gasp. She saw what she had wanted to see for years, desire for her. She felt light-headed with want for him. She had wanted him like this for so long, and now here she was, wrapped up in his arms, as he danced with her.
The song had ended, but he was still swaying them slowly, unable to let her go, afraid she would disappear if he released her from his arms. She wasn’t in a hurry to move, though. She knew she was where she was meant to be, in the strong arms of the green-eyed hunter that had won her heart a long time ago. Reluctantly, she pulled back, looking up to see him smiling down at her, and without hesitation, closed the small gap between them, pressing her lips to his in a barely there kiss.
She had imagined kissing Dean so many times, but even in her most vivid dreams, she couldn’t have foreseen how good his lips would feel on hers or how much the little whimpers he made as she deepened the kiss and ran her tongue across his bottom lip would affect her. The feeling of the muscles in his shoulders moving under her fingertips as he moved his hands all over her body made her ache with desire. She had never wanted anyone so badly in her life, and it was finally happening, making her head swim with the idea of what was still to come.
Dean walked them back over to the couch without his lips ever leaving her, laying her down cautiously, watching her expressions to make sure she wanted this as much as he did. When he found no signs of hesitation, he leaned over her, slotting himself between her legs, his lips going to kiss and nibble her neck. He was in no hurry tonight. He was going to find every little spot that made her cry out, make her feel like she was the only woman in the world, because that’s exactly what she was to him.
Y/N was a withering mess beneath him. The way his body was pressing her into the couch, his lips on her neck, his hands gently caressing her would be the death of her, she was sure. She needed more, needed to feel his skin against her, his mouth leaving open-mouthed kisses all over her already sweat-sheened body. She pushed his flannel down his shoulders, letting him shrug it off before grabbing the hem of his t-shirt and pulling it up his back as she tried to remove it. Dean chuckled as he sat back on his heels, pulling the shirt over his head and throwing it to the floor behind him.
“Is that what you wanted, sweetheart?”
She bit her lip as she nodded, a little embarrassed at how carried away she was becoming. No man had ever made her feel the things she was feeling at the moment. Maybe it was because Dean was just so fucking handsome or that she was so irrevocably in love with him, but whatever it was, she had never been so turned on in her life. And he hadn’t done anything but kiss her.
“Hey…” he whispered, getting her attention. He knew that look. She was in her head again. “This will only go as far as you want it to. I want to touch you, feel you, make you feel so damn good, baby, but only if that’s what you want,”
“I want you, Dean. I need you,” she whimpered, quivering in anticipation.
“Are you sure? We’ll stop right now…,”
“Don’t you dare stop,” she groaned, earning another chuckle from Dean.
“Whatever my girl wants,” he winked, leaning down to capture her mouth again.
He moved his lips down her jaw, kissing and lightly nipping her skin as he trailed down toward her ear, licking the spot right behind her lobe. The sound she made was between a moan and a whimper, and fuck him if he didn’t want to hear her make that noise over and over.
He bore his weight on his hands, stiffening his arms so he could look down at her, and the unbridled passion he saw looking back at him took his breath away. She really wanted him, and it made him want to drown himself in her, completely let go and show her just how much he wanted and loved her. He made it his mission right then to show her how special she was because, god damn if she wasn’t perfect.
“Can I?” he asked, pulling the hem of her shirt up slightly, smiling when she nodded at him somewhat shyly.
Once her shirt had been thrown behind them, he dropped himself down on his forearms, placing soft kisses on the swell of her breasts. Her hands entwined in the hair on the back of his head, pulling him to where she wanted him, and he couldn’t contain the groan that spilled past his lips. She was starting to relax and enjoy herself, and if that wasn’t the sexiest thing he’d ever seen, he didn’t know what was.
She was writhing underneath him as he took her nipple in his mouth through the fabric of her bra, her back arching with pleasure as her pussy clenched around nothing. She could feel him smirk against her skin as he kissed his way down her abdomen, stopping at the waist of her leggings. He looked up, silently questioning if he could continue. He smiled wickedly as she nodded in approval, sliding them and her panties down in one pull.
“You’re so beautiful, Y/N,” he whispered as he ran his hands down her legs, spreading them slowly so he could see all of her.
Dean sat back, taking a moment to just admire the woman lying there before him. He could never express his gratitude for being here with her like this, and it wasn’t about just the sex. He knew what she was giving him and how special it was, and he wouldn’t take it for granted. He wanted to give himself to her wholly, but he had never been so happy and terrified. This wasn’t some one-night stand that would walk away in the morning. She was his best friend, and that scared the shit out of him. What if he couldn’t make her happy? She deserved the world, and he didn’t know if he could be the one to give that to her.
“Dean, stop,”
His eyes shot to hers. This was it. She had finally realized that she was making a mistake. He hung his head, knowing she was too good for him. He should’ve known that he would never deserve someone like her. He turned to reach for her shirt to give back to her when he felt her hand on his cheek, making him look at her.
“I can see what you’re thinking, and I want this. I want you, Dean. I’ve wanted you for so long...Please...Please, Dean, make me yours,” she said, tracing his bottom lip with her thumb, “Make me your girl.”
The dam had broken. Every emotion he had kept bottled up where it concerned Y/N was now at the surface, and it was overwhelming, to say the least. She wanted him, was begging for him, and who was he to not give her what she wanted.
In a flurry of limbs, he had his jeans and boxers off in record speed. He nestled himself back between her legs, caging her in with his arms, his mouth crushing hers, trying to show her exactly how he felt without words. She slid her arms down his back to his hips, pulling him to grind against her, both of them groaning at the feeling. He moved his hand between them, running a finger through her soaked folds, teasing her entrance with the tip of his finger.
“So wet for me, sweetheart,” he groaned in her ear, “I haven’t even tasted you yet.”
“Not this time, please! I need you inside me,” she begged, not wanting to waste another second before she felt him.
“I have to get you ready for me first.”
He pushed his middle finger deep into her heat, slowly dragging it in and out before adding his index finger. The way she was moaning and clutching for him made it hard not to slam home right then, but he also wanted to make her come on his fingers. He moved his thumb to slowly circle her clit as his fingers moved inside her faster.
“D, please! I’m gonna...I’m…”
She couldn’t finish her sentence before she came hard on his fingers, soaking his palm with her juices. Her body shook with her release as she cried out, grinding her hips down on his hand. She swore she had seen stars. No one had ever made her come that hard with their fingers. He slowed down his pace as she came down, going limp, eyes shut tight and breathing hard. She could hear him sucking her taste off his fingers, making her shiver.
“Fuck…,”  she huffed, finally opening her eyes to see him smiling down at her.
“There she is…,” he chuckled, leaning down to kiss her softly, “You okay?”
She didn’t answer. Instead, she rolled him over to his back, straddling his hips. She didn’t wait as she grabbed his hard cock, lining it up with her and sinking down. The feeling of being so full, him stretching her so good, almost had her coming again. His size made her have to adjust for a moment. He was bigger than anyone she had ever had, and she could feel the difference.
She pressed her hands to his chest for leverage and began moving, riding him slowly and making him go deep. Her moans soon drowned out the song playing in the background as she felt the coil in her belly tighten again.
“That’s it, sweetheart, take what you want,” He growled, fighting hard to stave off his release.
“Dean...Oh, God…I’m so close.”
“Let go for me,” he said, reaching up to cup her chin in his hand, forcing her to look him in the eye, “Come, baby girl.”
It was almost like her body was at his command. The coil snapped as soon as the words left his mouth, sending a white-hot heat coursing through her. Her body collapsed on his chest, his arms holding her to him as he thrust up into her, working her through her high. He captured her lips as he rolls them over, placing her leg over his hip as he drives himself deep, whispering praises in her ear.
“You feel so good, Y/N. So wet and tight for me.”
“Dean, please…” she begged, unsure what she was begging for anymore.
“I’ve got you. I’ll always have you, baby girl,” he growled into her shoulder, fighting back his orgasm. He refused to let go until she came around him again, “Touch yourself for me. Come again.”
She whined at the sensitivity as she circled her throbbing bud. She didn’t think she could come again, completely blissed out from the two times she had already, but to her surprise, the coil started to wind tight again, her release right on the edge. Dean thrust in hard while he pulled her nipple in his mouth, and that’s all it took to send her flying off the edge. She came with his name passing her lips in a chant as her eyes rolled back in her head. Her pussy clenching around him threw Dean over with her, stilling deep as he filled her up, whispering her name in her ear over and over.
Neither wanted to move, both enjoying the post-sex haze, but now also scared of what would happen next. Dean was the one to break the stillness as he rolled away, pulling her back to his chest as they lay on the couch. He nuzzled his face into the back of her neck, breathing in the smell of hair as it cascaded across his face. If this ended up being a one-time thing, he wanted to enjoy this little bit of peace that he hadn’t felt in a long time. Hell, he didn’t know if he had ever felt peace like this.
“Dean,” she whispered, breaking the silence between them.
“Yeah, sweetheart?”
“What happens now?” her voice was so soft that he barely heard her.
He stayed quiet for a moment. Seriously thinking of how he wanted to answer her. He knew for a fact that he couldn’t go back to being her friend now. He was absolutely gone on her, and she needed to know it. He pulled her tighter against him as he began to speak.
“Well, I’m not sure how you feel, but Y/N, there’s no turning back for me now. I’ve wanted you for so damn long, and now that I have you, I can’t be just your friend anymore. If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m head over heels for you, sweetheart, and I’m all in. That is if you’ll have me.”
“All I’ve ever wanted was you,” she smiled, squeezing his hand that was resting on her stomach.
He kissed her head before he started to laugh softly, “I’m so damn glad I took the time to learn that dance.”
She turned in his arms quickly, looking at him in shock, “You learned that just for me?”
“Well, you said that a man that can dance is sexy,” he chuckled, kissing the tip of her nose.
“You didn’t have to learn that to be sexy, Dean.”
“Well, then, I don’t have to worry about having to dance again,” he smirked at her.
“No! I never said that. You were already sexy, but that dance made you extra sexy,” she giggled as he tickled her side.
“Whatever you say, sweetheart,” he chided, grabbing the blanket off the back of the couch and covering them.
That night, they lay cuddled on the couch, stealing kisses and never taking their hands off each other. Both of them eventually fell into a blissful sleep. The first night of many that they slept in each other’s arms.

“Be careful,” Dean says as he helps you into the house.
Your side is split open from the monster you and Dean were hunting, and he didn’t have time to fix you in the field or on the way home. Sam isn’t with you right now because he is across the country fighting his own monster with Garth.
“I know,” you wince as you hobble next to him.
Dean brings you into the war room where you take a seat at the large table. He leaves immediately to grab the first aid, and the thought makes you smile in amusement. When he comes back, your shirt is already off. You two have been dating for a couple of years now, so seeing you like this is nothing new.
“You know I don’t need that,” you grunt.
“Your side is split open. Let me fix you.”
“Dean, I’m a witch. Did you already forget that?”
You lift your right hand and hover it over your wound. You close your eyes and mutter a spell that will heal you in seconds. Dean watches with amazement as our skin folds over and stitches itself back together. Soon, your abdomen is healed and you have no permanent damage to the area.
“At least let me clean the blood off you.”
“That, you can do,” you chuckle.
Dean leaves and comes back with a damp washcloth in which he rubs your skin until it’s free of your blood.
“This will never not amaze me. After knowing you for eight years, the way you do spells is awesome.”
“Thank you,” you say in a shy voice.
He’s told you plenty of times how powerful you are, but no matter how many compliments he gives you, you’ll always turn into a blushing schoolgirl for him.
“Alright, the wound may be healed, but you need to rest. I can’t imagine how tired you are.”
“Kind of, but instead of resting, how about we watch a movie?”
“I like the sound of that. I will meet you in the man cave with snacks, drinks, and popcorn.”
Dean leaves for the kitchen, and you walk to the man cave. When Dean first discovered this area, he was so giddy like a child in a candy store. He decorated it to be the perfect place to hang out, fit with old retro video games, a pool table, a foosball table, a big couch, two recliner chairs, a flat-screen TV, a homemade bar, and a bunch of different trinkets.
It’s the perfect room to quarantine in.
You get comfortable on the couch and find your favorite movie on VUDU. You could watch this movie a thousand times over, and you’ll never get bored of it. Dean comes in ten minutes later with all the fixings.
He turns off the light as he passes by the switch and takes a seat next to you. You grab your favorite candy and a handful of popcorn before you hit play. Because this Bunker is underground, there are no windows to let in natural sunlight. The only parts that get that are the very top floor, and even then, it’s not great light. The Men of Letters really made sure that no one can see or get inside this place.
Due to that fact, the glare coming off the TV is too bright in this very dark room. Dean doesn’t seem to have a problem with his eyes adjusting, but since you’re dizzy from the blood loss, you need another source of light to contrast the TV’s brightness.
From the last time you were in here, you left candles all around the room. You complained it smelled too much like a man in here, but Dean didn’t seem to mind since he liked the smell of the candles. Without getting up from your spot, you raise your left hand, and every single candlewick in the room goes up in flames.
Dean looks around the room before settling his gaze on you.
“Sorry, the glare from the TV was too bright.”
“It’s romantic,” he grins and scooches closer to you.
You lean into his body and meet him halfway to kiss him. You could be surrounded by monsters, but you’ll always feel safe in Dean’s arms. He makes home feel like home without being near it.
After the movie is over, your eyes droop from being too tired. The energy lost from your wound is catching up to you, and Dean can see it’s time for bed.
“Alright, time for bed, sleepyhead.”
Dean moves the snacks to the other side of the couch and scoops you into his arms bridal style. Your head rests on his chest, and the steady beat of his heart is enough to lull you into a light sleep.
He walks to your shared bedroom and lays you on your side of the bed. You can’t go to bed in your hunting clothes, so he helps you into your pajamas before getting undressed, himself. Every time you’re together, right before bed, you always do the same trick to help you two go to sleep. He knows you’re tired, but he doesn’t want to break the cycle you two have.
“Sweetheart?” he whispers.
“Mmhm?”
“Can you do my favorite trick?”
Yes, you’re tired, but you’d do anything to put a smile on his face. You reach over and turn on the bedside lamp to give the room a soft yellow glow. You grab the pillow behind you and rip it open so that all the feathers go everywhere.
“Are you ready?”
He nods excitedly, and you close your eyes to concentrate. In a flash, all the feathers on the bed lift into the air, and they float there as if gravity isn’t a real thing. Dean laughs and watches them in amazement, and you watch him with admiration in your eyes. It doesn’t take much to make Dean happy, but you’ll do it all if it means he’ll keep smiling.
Your magic has been used to hurt a lot of people before, even killed them, but you’d only use it to bring Dean joy.

Fan fiction has ruined me. I'm rewatching Supernatural with my husband, who's watching it for the first time. Someone said something to Dean early in season 2 about having a hole that needed to be filled. I just started howling. Literally rolling on the floor in agony over how much I was laughing. My husband just looked at me confused. He has no idea what he's in for.

It’d been nearly four weeks of back-to-back hunts. This was the seventh motel you and the two Winchesters had been at this month and you were almost ready to call it a night.
“I’m gonna wash this wraith stench off of me,” you told Dean. You then added quietly so John—who was sitting at the table and cleaning his guns—wouldn’t hear; “Would you like to join me, handsome?”
“More than anything,” he whispered before he bent down and kissed you. John coughed loudly, and you weren’t sure if it was just a perfectly timed accident or a purposeful guilt trip. It was most likely the latter. “But… I think it’s better if I don’t, sweetheart.”
You smiled sadly with a small nod; “Next time, then,” you assured him. You looked up into his eyes and noticed the tiredness laced with the usual burden he carried. He blinked unusually slowly as if he was trying his damndest to stay awake, and you furrowed your brows. “How about you head to bed, you can shower after you get some sleep.”
“It’s alright, I’m not that tired,” he said.
“Hey, are you feeling okay?” you asked him, barely above a whisper so that John wouldn’t hear.
John didn’t like you. He didn’t really trust your intentions with his son, and he thought you were just a distraction that would end up getting Dean killed if he wasn’t careful. He didn’t like how easily Dean would get ‘all giggly’ when he was near you, and he didn’t like that his son kept his guard down when he was with you.
He didn’t like the matching rings you wore, or that you too often referred to the other as husband or wife when a stranger would ask. You weren’t married, you were his fucking girlfriend and John fully believed you wouldn’t still be together by the time Sam finished his first four years at Stanford.
“I’m fine,” he replied, matching your quiet tone. “I’ll shower right after you so don’t use up all the hot water, okay?” There was a teasing smirk on his face which made your worries subside temporarily.
“I promise to leave you some,” you said before you kissed him once more.
**
“Dean are you okay?” you asked, seeing the far-off look in his eyes when you left the bathroom.
“Yeah, I uh…” He rubbed his eyes as he tried to again focus on your face. He looked over at his dad, who raised a brow at his eldest son. “I’m fine, sweetheart.”
You followed his line of sight and pursed your lips when you saw John.
“Dean says he’s fine, drop it Y/n,” he told you.
Against your better judgment, you decided not to ask Dean again. With your hair still wet from the shower, you took the brush from your bag and started fixing it.
“Aren’t you gonna shower, babe?” you asked Dean, who hadn’t moved an inch.
“Uh, yeah,” he said. He started to kick off his shoes when he tripped and fell straight to the floor, his cheek now pressed against the carpet.
“Dean!?” you exclaimed and hurried over to him. You fell to your knees and took him into your arms, shaking him gently in hopes he’d just wake up. “Dean? Dean, honey, please? J-John he’s not waking up!” You pressed your lips to his temple; “C’mon, Dean!”
John had left his spot on the couch and was now hovering over you, as you looked up at him desperately.
“Is he breathing?”
“Yeah,” you replied, tears slipping down your cheeks. John helped you lay Dean down so he could check his breathing.
“He seems fine,” John deduced. “Is there a wound we missed or something?”
“W-We need to call an ambulance,” you said and rushed to grab your phone off the nightstand.
“Y/n, Dean wouldn’t want us to call the cops,” John replied. He seemed a little too calm for your liking, so you weren’t about to let him call the shots regarding Dean’s wellbeing.
“I don’t care, we’re getting him to the fucking hospital,” you said as you dialed and made your way back to Dean. “Now hide your goddamn guns before the paramedics get here—I need an ambulance at the Rosebud Motel room 302, my husband just collapsed unexpectedly.” You ignored the look John gave you when you called Dean that. The operator asked questions and you answered each one; “Yes, he’s breathing… No, no bleeding… He’s twenty-five… Uhm, I’m not sure…” You pulled the phone from your ear; “Has he had anything to drink yet tonight?”
John was putting away the guns and paused to think before he shrugged; “I dunno, I wasn’t watching.”
Your eyes widened and your teeth clenched, the fucking audacity. Looking at the table you saw three opened beers so you made an educated guess when you answered the 9-1-1 operator.
“He might’ve had a beer or two, but he’s not a lightweight, he’d never pass out after two beers… Yes, his dad is in the room with me… Yes, I can stay on the line.” You took in a shaky breath as you brought his hand to your lips and kissed his knuckles.
“Just stay calm, ma’am, help is on the way.”
“I’m trying,” you replied, tears streaming down your cheeks as you kept his hand pressed to your lips. “Th-This isn’t like him, he’s–he’s always okay.”
**
You bounced your leg anxiously as you sat next to John in the waiting room. As you absentmindedly played with the ring on your right ring finger, you couldn’t help but think of the time when Dean had told you how much you truly meant to him almost three years ago.
* flashback *
“I got you a present.” His smile was adorable as he sat next to you on the couch. He saw your face light up and felt the need to downplay the gift; “It’s nothing much, don’t get too excited.”
“Dean, you could give me a dirty sock and I’d love it,” you teased, placing a quick kiss on his pink lips.
“Well… this is like one teer above ‘dirty sock’, I think.” He smirked and handed you the small velvet box.
You opened it and your jaw fell open; “Oh my god, Dean!”
“I know how much you like mine,” he said quietly.
“I do like yous,” you took his right hand in yours and kissed the ring on his finger, “I love yours, Dean.”
“Well, this one is exactly like mine.” He smiled. “Except it’s in your size, obviously, so we can… you know… match.” You took the ring out of the box and admired it for a moment. You were about to put it on but he stopped you; “May I do the honors, sweetheart?” he asked. You couldn’t help the giggle that escaped your lips as you nodded and he took it from you. He slipped the ring onto your right ring finger before he kissed your hand.
“I mean this in the most genuine way possible; this is by far the best gift anyone has ever gotten me, Dean! Ever!”
A sheepish blush was forming on his cheeks as he leaned over and kissed your lips; “I love you so much.” He pulled away so he could look at you; “And, I want you to know this isn’t a regular gift.”
“Yeah?” you asked, your smile growing.
“Yeah,” he replied and kissed you again. When he pulled away again he chickened out a little and didn’t say what he was going to. “You’re twenty-one, which means you can now legally drink in all fifty states.” He stood up, pulling on your hand gently so you would follow him to the kitchen. He took two beers out of the fridge and put them on the table. He used the ring on his finger to easily open one then handed the other to you. “Why don’t you give it a try.”
It took you a few tries but you managed to open the beer using the ring he just gave you; “Okay, now that’s awesome!”
“Happy birthday, sweetheart!” Dean said and you clinked your beers together before you both started drinking them. As he brought the bottle down from his lips, he watched as you kept drinking and smiled to himself. He suddenly felt the courage he felt when he bought the ring and decided to tell you his thoughts; “You know you’re the only girl for me, right?” You nodded with a smile. “I don’t just mean ‘for now’ I mean like forever. That’s the real meaning behind the ring, I love you and I want to be with you for the rest of our lives.”
You couldn’t help the happy tears beginning to sting your eyes as you looked up at him; “Forever?”
“Forever.”
* end of flashback *
You were shaken back to cruel reality by the sound of John’s voice beside you; “What’s taking them so long? We’ve gotta get back on the fuckin’ road.”
“Are you fucking serious right now?” you scoffed and looked at him. “Dean might be in serious trouble, and you’re thinking about the next hunt!?”
“Dean’s gonna be fine.” He rolled his eyes.
“We don’t know that,” you replied. You again started fiddling with the ring Dean had given to you.
“You know that ring doesn’t make you two husband and wife,” John commented.
You stood up abruptly, not wanting to say what was running through your head; Yeah, and Dean being so fucking perfect doesn’t make you a good father.
“Dean Smith’s next of kin?” the doctor asked.
“I’m his wife, this is his dad,” you said. “H-How is he?”
“He’ll be fine,” she replied. “He has a very minor concussion from when his head hit the floor, but he just needs some rest.”
“What happened?” John asked.
“He fainted from over-exhaustion, he’s gonna be okay.”
“Over-exhaustion?” You furrowed your brows, placing a hand over your chest. “B-But he’s been eating fine? A-And sleeping as much as me, I think?”
“Actually,” John interrupted, “he’s been helping me with research at night, he doesn’t sleep as much as you.”
Never in your life had you wanted to knee John Winchester in the balls as badly as you wanted to at that moment.
“How many hours a night are you sleeping, hun?” the doctor asked you.
“Like three to five… every other night,” you admitted. “And that’s always been enough! If it wasn’t, Dean could’ve just taken a nap he didn’t have to—fuck.”
“Can we see him?” John asked.
“He’s still asleep but yes, you can go and see him,” she replied.
On the way to Dean’s room, you kept wondering how this all happened—how did Dean get so fucking tied he collapsed!? If he was staying up at night, why didn’t he just sleep in the car? You would’ve happily driven Baby, and it’s not like you hadn’t done that before—Dean’s love language was sharing that fucking car.
“This hasn’t ever happened before, right?” you asked John.
“Never,” he replied. “Guess Dean’s just not as strong as he used to be.”
“Excuse me?” you seethed and stopped in your tracks, pulling John to a halt as well. “Dean is a fucking hero but he is not a machine, he’s a fucking human being who’s been treated like a soldier since he was six-fucking-years-old!”
“If you wanna say something, fucking say it!” John exclaimed.
“Oh, I am saying it! How fucking dare you work him so hard that he lands in the fucking emergency room!”
“We all know in this line of work, we have to do what we have to do!”
You slapped him hard across the face and your eyes widened when you realized what you did.
“Dean is your son,” you said, quickly changing your facial expression back into one of pure rage. “He is your fucking child and you’ve been treating him like shit for far too long. He deserves better, he doesn’t deserve to be so fucking exhausted that he collapses.”
You walked away and into Dean’s room. Seeing him lying in the hospital bed made your heart break as tears welled in your eyes.
“Oh god,” you mumbled. “Dean.” You quickly pulled up a chair so you could sit next to his bed and patiently wait for him to wake up. John did the same, though he seemed annoyed by the fact Dean was still asleep.
You weren’t sure how long had passed before John got fed up; “Can you press the button for the nurse so we can ask when he’s supposed to wake up?”
“I think we should just let him sleep, don’t you?” you whispered, not knowing if Dean had been sedated or if he was just resting like normal.
“I didn’t ask for your opinion, I told you to call the damn nurse,” he said, raising his voice which caused Dean to stir awake.
“Hey sweetheart,” Dean said groggily, his eyes half-hooded as he brought your hand to his lips and placed a kiss on your knuckles. He then dropped your hand and rubbed his eyes to wake himself up. “This isn’t the motel,” he realized. He noticed John sitting at the other side of the bed and he sat up a little, trying to somewhat compose himself. “Wh-What happened?”
“I’ll fill you in,” John said. “Y/n, why don’t you go grab us some coffee so I can talk with my son?”
All your instincts told you not to leave the two Winchesters alone but what choice did you have? You didn’t want to start another fight with John, you were tired too, and you didn’t want Dean worrying.
“Yeah, sure,” you said. You took the time to bend down and place a loving kiss on Dean’s forehead, causing him to smile. “No coffee for you though, you need more sleep,” you told him before you left the room.
About ten minutes later you walked back in and the sight practically made your eyes bulge out of your skull as your jaw flew open.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” you asked and placed the two cups to the side.
“Dad said there’s a hunt,” Dean said matter-of-factly. “I can sleep in the car or something, let’s go.” He started to stand up so you pushed him back down.
“How fucking dare you!” you exclaimed at John, who stood on the other side of the bed. “How dare you tell him to suit up right now! He is staying here in this hospital, and he is getting some goddamn sleep!”
“That is not your decision,” John replied. “If Dean says he’s fine, then he’s fine.”
“You realize those are the exact words you said to me before your son collapsed, right?” you scoffed. “Dean lay back down now,” you told him as you began taking his boots off. “You are staying here for the night, you understand me?”
“Don’t you boss him around!” John exclaimed. “Dean and I are leaving here now.”
“You can leave if you want to, but Dean is staying put!” you replied, matching his tone.
“No, he is not!” John yelled.
You’d never fought with John like this, usually yelling and getting yelled at made your eyes tear up in the most inconvenient way. But this? Dean’s health? You were not about to back down. Not one single tear dared to appear in your eyes as you looked at John with such anger you wanted to slap him across the face… again.
“Why don’t we get a third opinion?” you suggested.
“Yeah, Dean, do you wanna sit here like a pussy or do you wanna go save some fucking lives?” John turned to look at him.
“Don’t answer that,” you said quickly. “I meant, let’s call the nurse and see what they have to say about it.”
Before John could protest, you walked over and pressed the button. It took half a minute—during which you and John stared daggers at each other—but soon the nurse walked in.
“How is everyone?” she asked, noticing the tension in the room.
“Do you think this young man here can leave yet? He’s doing fine and wants to go home,” John said.
“Let me check his chart,” she replied before doing so. “I would have to no, he should definitely stay here and get some much-needed rest.”
“Is there a doctor—” John started but you stopped him.
“Goddamn it John!” you scoffed. “He is not leaving!”
“You are not his fucking family!” John shouted, much louder than before. “I am! You aren’t his wife, you aren’t his sister, you aren’t his fucking mother—you are just his current girlfriend, and believe me that’ll fucking change in a heartbeat. You are not in charge of what Dean does, you are not family.” There was a short pause as your eyes brimmed with tears yet you refused to let them fall. John sighed and continued; “I am Dean’s father, I know what’s best for him, and I say he’s packing his things and getting the hell outta here.”
The nurse looked absolutely shocked, her jaw hanging open. The look John gave her made her hurry out of the room.
“Dad,” Dean said, seeing the tears in your eyes. “Dad, you can yell at me all you want, I’m your kid but…” He exhaled shakily as John turned to look at him with a frustrated look. “But you can’t talk to her like that, you just can’t. You might not think of her as family but that’s on you, she is a part of my family, Dad. And yeah, we might not be legally married or whatever but she’s not just my current girlfriend? She basically is my wife, we’re not just… dating?” Dean looked at his father with a sense of desperation, John just had to apologize and you could all drop it. Of course, John, being a stubborn bastard, held his ground and crossed his arms authoritatively. “I-If you aren’t gonna take back what you just said to her y-you can go on this next hunt alone.”
“Excuse me?” John scoffed.
“You heard me,” Dean replied. “She’s everything to me and I can’t sit idly by while you talk to her like that.”
“So you’re talkin’ back to me now? Like Sammy?” John asked. “Refusing to take orders?”
“This isn’t about me, Dad!” Dean said, his face twisted with guilt. “You know I follow any orders you give, that I’m quick to obey. But you saying Y/n isn’t family? I-I’m sorry but I can’t let that slide, Dad.”
John huffed and abruptly left the room.
“I’m sorry,” you said to Dean the moment John was out of earshot.
“Me too.” Dean smiled sadly as you both wiped your eyes quickly.
“Why don’t we get these jeans off of you so you can be more comfortable?” you suggested patting his shin.
His brows shot up; “Really? Here? Now?”
“Dean, no!” you chuckled, shaking your head. “I meant comfortable so you can go to sleep!”
“Oh…yeah, that makes more sense.” His trademark cocky smile was back and that made your own smile return to your now tear-stained face.
“I’m serious about you staying put, you know.” You nodded toward his pants and he got the message.
“You can be real stubborn, you know that?” he laughed as he hurried and slipped his pants off. You folded them up and put them on the chair along with his belt. He shrugged off his jacket and you tossed it on top of where the pants sat.
“Get under the covers,” you said. He rolled his eyes playfully but he obliged nonetheless.
“Happy?” He smiled when he was comfortable in the bed.
You nodded; “I love you, Dean.” You leaned down and placed a kiss on his lips, causing his smile to turn more genuine.
“Hey,” the doctor interrupted as she walked into the room, “Nurse Roberts just told me about the little outburst… everything okay in here?”
“Yeah, just a little misunderstanding is all,” you replied. “But it’s all settled—Dean’s staying the night.”
“That’s good to hear,” she said with a smile. “I’ve gotta be honest I’ve never seen anything like this.”
“What do you mean?” you asked, clearly anxious about her statement.
“I just meant that your husband is very healthy,” she assured you; “I’ve never seen a young, healthy man like him just collapse from over-exhaustion.”
“First time for everything I guess,” Dean laughed nervously.
You glared at him; “Not funny, babe.”
“She’s right,” the doctor backed you up. “Now, whatever you’ve been doing recently that caused you to lose this much sleep, get this stressed you need to quit it right here, right now.”
“It’s our job, we can’t just… quit,” you said. “But I will definitely keep a closer eye on him from now on, make sure he’s getting enough sleep.”
“You can’t put this all on her, you understand me, Mr. Smith?” She looked at Dean before he nodded shyly. “Mrs. Smith you need to fix your own sleeping habits as well — if you both don’t smarten up and take better care of yourselves, you will definitely be right back here before the end of the year. You got that?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Dean said.
“Good.” She nodded. “Now, I’m gonna give you a small dose of a mild sedative to help you fall asleep, alright?” She said as she made her way over to Dean’s IV bag to give him the sedative. “You ripped this out the second you woke up, didn’t you?” She asked him when she realized the needle was no longer in his arm. “You two, I swear!” She started preparing to simply inject Dean with the sedative but you stopped her.
“Is there maybe like a pill equivalent to what you’re giving him? He doesn’t really like needles,” you said.
“There is, would you prefer that?” she asked Dean, and he nodded vigorously. “Alright, I’ll go and grab that for you then. Mrs. Smith the chair in the corner folds out into a small bed if you two don’t want to share one.”
“Oh, that’s alright, I’m not tired,” you said.
She gave you a look; “Seriously? Hun, what did we just talk about?”
“I get that, but I know Dean’s not gonna sleep properly if he doesn’t feel safe.”
“This is a hospital, it’s safe,” she said.
“Sorry,” you said with a small shrug, and again she sighed.
At that moment, John decided to walk back into the room, making your breath hitch a little before the doctor left to get the meds for Dean.
“It’s alright, you two get some sleep; I’ll keep watch,” he said as he made his way over to the chair and sat down.
“You sure, dad? I thought you said there was a job nearby?” Dean asked.
John looked at you and smiled ever-so-slightly. Maybe it was something you had said to him, maybe John didn’t want you being alone with Dean while he was so weak, or maybe there never was a job and he didn’t have anything better to do than stay with his son.
For whatever reason, John Winchester sighed and answered; “You’re more important, Dean. Your safety is more important. Now quit whining and get some sleep.”
Dean pulled the covers back, silently asking you to join him in the bed and, of course, you obliged. You gave him a quick kiss on the lips before getting comfortable in his arms.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he said, kissing your temple.
“I love you more,” you replied, making him let out a soft laugh.
“You always gotta one-up me, huh?” he chuckled.
“Uh-huh,” you giggled. His arms tightened around your frame as he tucked your head under his chin. John couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt for treating not only you but his own son so poorly. Every time John saw Dean be this relaxed and happy, you were always the cause. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing.
By the time the doctor got back about seven minutes later, you and Dean were both fast asleep; the latter letting out snores that gently moved your hair with each breath. She smiled a little at the sight and decided to duck back out of the room so as not to wake you two.

Heart Of Stone
Tumblr media
Dean x reader
Word Count- 1630
Warnings- Angst, Self-loathing Dean (yes, that's a warning 😂), A little fluff
A/N- This fills my "Unexpected Touch" square for @jacklesversebingo
Dean woke with a start, his body and pajamas drenched in sweat. Another nightmare, another sleepless night. You’d think with everything he’s seen in his life, he’d be used to them. But, he has to take deep breaths and try to still his racing heart every time, ground himself to keep from panicking. He hates it. Hates how, after all these years, his fears still plague him.
This dream was different than the usual nightmares. It wasn’t the faces of all the people he couldn’t save or the monsters that had tried to end him. No, this one was worse. It was about her, and those are the worst. He can handle the trauma that comes with his job and take the guilt and sadness that comes with it, calm himself, and push it down. But, when it comes to the nightmares about her, he can’t.
Y/N had carved her way into his heart the last few months, whether he wanted her to or not. She meant so much to him. Just the thought of her smiling face or the brightness in her eyes when she spoke to him always calmed his nerves. Hell, who’s he kidding? She soothed his soul. But she would never know that. She couldn’t. Dean wasn’t the kind of man that deserved a woman as good as her. As much as he wanted to be selfish, open himself up to her, let her in, and let her start to heal him, he wouldn’t. She didn’t deserve to be dragged down by his self-loathing, insecurities, or the inevitable misery that would come with being with him. No, as much as he wanted to be a man she deserved, a man worthy of her love, he wasn’t and never would be. So, as with everything thing else, he’ll push his feelings down and bury them deep.
As he sat on his bed, back against the headboard, his mind swirling with all the negative thoughts, a soft knock on his door made him jump. He would know that sound anywhere. It was Y’N’s knock. Yes, he had it so bad for her that he could differentiate her knuckles on his door from everyone else’s. He sighed, running his hand down his face, and tried to calm himself before she entered his room.
“Come in,” his shaky voice echoed through the silence.
“I thought I heard you scream. Are you okay?” she asked as she peeked around the door. Her hair falling around her face out of her messy bun made him smile softly. Damn, she was beautiful.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m good.”
“Why don’t I believe you?” she smirked, walking into the room and putting her hand on her hip.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to lie to her. She always saw right through him, which made her more endearing and infuriated him simultaneously. He took a deep breath and exhaled loudly, pinching the bridge of his nose. She wasn’t going anywhere, so he might as well tell her the truth. Well, half-truth. She didn’t need to know that he had a nightmare about her. How he had allowed himself to have her, just to watch her die bloody.
“I had a bad dream. Nothing to worry about. You can go back to bed.”
“Dean…” she sighed, walking over to sit beside him, taking his big hand in hers, “You do know you can talk to me. You don’t always have to go through everything alone. It’s okay to let someone be there for you every now and then.”
“I know, but I’m fine. Honestly,” he smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes, the tell-tell crinkles by his eyes not there. She knew he was faking it, and she wasn’t leaving until he talked to her. He was always there for everyone he cared about, shouldering the majority of everything, and he deserved to be cared for this time.
“Let me take care of you for once. You don’t have to be the tough guy all the time,” she whispered, reaching up to cup his cheek in her small hand, caressing it with her thumb as her other hand entwined with his.
His breath caught in his throat, heart racing, as he stared at her. The unexpectedness of her soft touch had surprised him, thrown him off guard, and he was frozen. His head and his heart were in a battle with each other. His mind telling him to back away, to leave now, and to end it before it can go any further. On the other hand, his heart screamed at him to stay, pull her to him, kiss her, and tell her how much he loved her. Casting his eyes down, he tried to decide whether to run or remain where he was when she spoke.
“Dean, look at me,” she pleaded, and when he didn’t look up, she slid her hand from his cheek to his chin, lifting his face to look him in the eyes.
“Y’N, don’t, please,” he whimpered, his willpower slowly chipping away as she stared at him, the longing in her eyes breaking his heart. Because all he wanted was her, to take her in his arms, but he couldn’t. She deserved so much more than a man like him could ever give her.
“No, Dean, you don’t. If I’m wrong, please correct me, but I’ve seen how you look at me. How your eyes follow me when I’m in the room, the longing in them when you think I’m not looking. I know this because that’s how I look at you. If you haven’t noticed, I want you, and I think you want me too,” she admitted, her voice trembling with the anxiousness of how he would respond. She doesn’t know if she can handle his rejection.
“It doesn’t matter what I want.”
“Yes, it does, Dean. It matters just as much as what everyone else wants. You deserve happiness, too.”
“I’m not a good man, sweetheart-” he began to speak, but she cut him off.
“That’s bullshit! You’re the best man I know!” she shouted, her frustration with his self-doubt spilling out.
“It’s not. You want the truth? I hate what I see when I look in the mirror; hate the man that’s staring back at me. You see these hands?” he lifted his hands, turning them around for her to see, “They’ve killed people, Y/N. There’s a dark side to me. You’re telling me that’s a man you want to be with? Because you deserve more, so much more.”
“Dean…” she whimpered, his words breaking her heart. How could he not see what everyone else sees? “First, you don’t get to decide what I want or deserve. And second, you want to know what I see when I look at you? I see a man who raised his little brother to be an incredible man. I see a man who puts everyone above him, no matter what, always putting himself last to make sure everyone else is taken care of. And these hands, all I see are hands that are cut, calloused, and scarred because he puts himself in danger daily to make sure others are safe, people who will never even know what he sacrifices for them. I don’t see that as a bad man,  Dean. I see a man who deserves more than he will ever believe he does, and if you will let me, I want to be the one to prove it to you. You’re an amazing man, Dean. Please stop selling yourself short of what you want, and especially what you deserve. And that Dean Winchester is the world, and I want to give that to you.”
“I can’t, Y/N. I can’t. What if something happened to you because you were with me? What if my nightmares come true?” he choked on his words, the thought of losing her bringing tears to his eyes.
“Is that what you dreamt? That something happened to me?” she asked softly, placing her hand back on his cheek. He nodded as he leaned into her touch, finally allowing himself to feel and enjoy how her palm held him just right as a tear finally escaped and rolled down his face.
“That’s why I can’t. I couldn’t make it if something happened to you.”
“Dean, something could happen to me going to the grocery store, a hunt, or I could slip and crack my head open taking a shower,” she chuckled.
“That’s not funny,” he grumbled, turning further into her touch.
“It’s the truth. Anything could happen to either of us at any time. So, why would you let that stop us from having what we want? Why not enjoy what time we do have together?”
“I don’t know how to be in a relationship, Y/N. The one time I tried, it blew up in my face.”
“Then how about we learn together? We’ll take it slow. Learn how to let go of our fears, the things we can’t change, and love each other the way that works for us,” she smiled, leaning in to gauge his reaction, and when he didn’t pull away, she pressed her lips to his in a gentle kiss. A kiss to let him know that she was and would always be there and would take care of him how he deserved to be.
And that night would be the beginning of something wonderful that he had never thought he could ever have. A relationship with a woman who loved him for him and accepted him and all his flaws. Over time, she had done what he thought was impossible. She had broken through and shattered the walls he had around what he thought was a heart of stone.

Inside the Impala is quiet, silent except for the soft rock playing softly through the speakers. All three men have just come back from a grueling hunt and all they want is to go home, drink some alcohol, and sleep for a day. Sam wanted to stop to get some rest in a motel room before taking the long drive home but Dean had his head set on arriving home as soon as possible. He’s growing kind of tired, it’s pitch black on the road, and he’s passing the double yellow line too often for Sam’s liking.
“Do you want me to drive?”
“No, I got it,” Dean shakes his head to keep him awake.
He drives for a few more miles until he sees something in the middle of the road. It’s not until he comes within twenty feet of it does he see it’s a body.
“Dean, watch out!” Cas gasps.
Dean swerves the car right before he can hit the body, and he slams on his brakes a few yards away from it. All three men step out and run over to it to see who it could be. It’s a teenage girl who doesn’t look to have any injuries. Castiel kneels down and places two fingers on your forehead to check for internal injuries but everything checks out fine.
“She’s knocked out with no injuries. I don’t know who put her here.”
“We can’t just leave her here,” Sam says.
“Bring her with us. We can do more at the Bunker,” Dean decides.
Since there are no other people here to claim you, Sam scoops you into his arms and places you into the backseat of the Impala. When they arrive home, they place you in the infirmary. Castiel is able to do more extensive tests on you to check who you are, where you came from, and what you could possibly want.
“I know everyone on Earth but I don’t know her name.” He hovers his glowing hands over your entire body to get a feel of what you might be. “This is so weird. There is magic within her but not like witch magic, like angel magic.”
“She’s an angel?”
“Not fully. There is angel magic but not enough to be a full angel. I know all angels, and I don’t recognize her at all.”
“We have to wait for her to wake up… if she does,” Sam says.
It takes three more hours for you to wake up and when you do, you stare at the three men still inside the room. You’re in some kind of infirmary inside the Bunker but something is different. This doesn’t feel like the Bunker you know. For one, Sam is with Dean and Castiel and Sam hasn’t been on good terms with them for years now.
“Am I in trouble?” you sigh and sit up.
“What?”
“Come on. Lay it on me. Yell, scream, or do whatever you need to do.”
“What are you talking about?” Dean asks.
“Very funny, Dad. Just get it over with.”
“Dad? Who the hell are you?”
This isn’t your world. This isn’t your Bunker. This isn’t your dad. Dean and Castiel don’t recognize you at all.
“What planet am I on?”
“Earth…?”
“Why is everything different?”
“What happened to you?” Castiel asks.
“I was gathering ingredients in the garden for the spell I was creating, but I saw something gold shimmer. When I touched it, everything went black. I woke up here.”
“She must have touched a portal. She’s from another universe.”
“I’m in another universe? Oh, my dads are gonna kill me,” you groan and put your head in your hands.
“I’m your dad?” Dean asks. You nod. “Who else is?”
“Him,” you say and point to Castiel.
“We’re both your dads?”
“Yes.”
Castiel stiffens awkwardly, Dean looks at him with a weird look on his face, and Sam just laughs.
“So, Destiel is real, then?”
“Shut the hell up,” Dean snaps.
“What’s that magic inside of you? I don’t recognize it.”
“You wouldn’t. I come from a world where people are born from DNA testing in a lab. If a woman and a man want to have a baby, they get to choose the gender they want by the doctor pulling DNA strands from their bodies and making that baby in a lab. If two women want to have a child, then their baby must be a boy to counteract the X chromosomes. The same thing goes for two men. They must have a daughter. Well, strands were taken from Dean and Castiel to make me, but Dean is a demon and Castiel is an angel. I’m half-demon, half-angel.”
“You’re a Nephalem?”
“Is that what Jack is?” Dean asks.
“No, he’s a Nephilim which is only half-angel,” you explain. “I have the grace of an angel, the blood of a demon, and a human soul to counteract the two powers. I’m kind of a big deal in my universe. I’m the most powerful creature, but I kind of fucked up.”
“How so?” Sam asks.
“In my world, the forbidden Garden of Eden is a real place that people can visit. I am forbidden to go in there due to my demonic heritage. The Garden is sacred to angels only, so I kind of snuck in for the ingredients I need for my spell. That’s when I got caught in that portal. My dads are gonna kill me,” you groan. “They’ll slaughter anything to get to me, and when they find out I’m missing, there’s no telling what they’ll do. I have to get back.”
“We’ll be right back. Just stay here.”
All three men leave the infirmary to talk in the hallway.
“A daughter of Heaven and Hell is far more powerful than anything in the entire universe, surpassing God and Jack themselves. She’s not at full power because she’s a teenager, but she can destroy the universe with just a thought. If you two make her upset or stressed, her powers can go haywire,” Castiel warns.
“What the hell are we gonna do?” Sam asks.
“We have to create a portal back to her world and get her back as soon as possible so she doesn't destroy everything in ours.”
Dean peeks inside the room to see you with tears running down your cheeks.
“Why don’t you two get started on that? Let me talk to her alone.”
Dean walks into the room alone and approaches you slowly. You wipe your tears away when he sits next to you on the bed.
“I’m not sure how to do this,” Dean starts.
“I’m really sorry,” you sniffle. “I didn’t mean to break the rules.”
“Listen, I don’t know how ‘Other Me’ or ‘Other Cas’ deals with shit over there, but you’re a kid. You didn’t know any better.”
“I do, though. I have a choice to make when I turn eighteen. Choose to be with the angels or demons. If I choose to side with the angels then I’m an enemy of Hell. If I side with the demons, the angels will hunt me down and kill me. My dads made this perfectly clear and told me to stay out of Eden to prevent people from thinking I sided with the angels. They can be pretty scary. They don’t hit me or abuse me but if I don’t follow the rules, they’ll get scary. God, they’re gonna kill me.”
“If ‘Other Me’ is anything like me, he’ll forgive you. It can’t be easy being an angel and a demon.”
“It’s hard. I’m seventeen, so I have to make the choice in less than a year. I’m not ready. I don’t want to pick a side because that will start a war. Earth would become a fighting ground for demons and angels with me as one of their leaders. I would be forced away from one of my dads.”
“For a demon, you care a lot.”
“I might be a demon but I’m not evil. I have a human soul. I don’t want any of this,” you cry.
“Okay, listen to me. You’re certainly strong and capable of handling things for yourself, but if ‘Other Me’ loves you like you say he does, then he won’t ask you to choose. I don’t care if he is a demon or not. It’s going to be okay.”
You lean up and hug him, catching him off guard.
“Thank you.” He pats your back and you pull away from him. “You know, my dad used to have a soul before finding the First Blade. I’ve heard the stories but nothing compares to seeing him now with one. Your soul is a gift, Dean. Don’t let it go.”
“As long as you don’t let yours go.”
“I promise,” you smile.
“Then I promise, too. Come on, let’s work on getting you home.”
