It is interesting though 'cause, since we have no fucking True Clue what the hell Crocodile's actual real End Goal with Cross Guild is right now (does he want to get One Piece and fight the Strawhats+Shanks, does he want to get Pluton from Wano (and/)or does he want to destroy the World Government?? We don't know), that we just have a fuck ton of theories on what could happen, but no way to really tell what the actual direction this entire plot thread is going to be

And one I've seen a lot of people suggest was Cross Guild recruiting more of the former (/OG) Shichibukai into their ranks

And I just find that idea so fucking interesting

Because this is where one needs to remember that Oda based the OG Shichibukai on the Seven Heroes from Romancing SaGa 2. The Seven Heroes were a legendary group who once in the past saved the world from a great evil (before disappearing and turning into an evil for the game's protags to defeat). Just reading the descriptions you can see how each of the OG Shichibukai match up to one of the heroes respectively. And the inspo would be fine and dandy by itself, like just some fun trivia about what inspired Oda. But the Seven Heroes were specifically created and lead by Wagnas, with Noel as his right-hand. Wagnas happens to be the character Crocodile matches up with, and Mihawk just happens to match up with Noel. And here we have Crocodile starting a new organization with Mihawk by his side, with unknown true goals. And we do have that one World Government that needs to get overthrown so the world can be "saved". So like.

Suddenly, the idea that Cross Guild could recruit some of the other former Shichibukai (to maybe help take down the World Government?) doesn't sound too out-landish at all

Especially because Moria alone is already like an actual contender for someone who could maybe join Cross Guild. Like, assuming he's alive and made it out of Fullalead with Perona. 'Cause with Absalom dead and Hogback gone with the wind, Moria should have like nothing else left but himself and Perona. And while knowing Moria he's going to be Very Happy about reuniting with Perona, like... where's he gonna go? What's he gonna do if the two escaped Fullalead? But because Perona and Mihawk already know each other, Perona could very easily become a bridge to getting Moria with CG, especially if he's still wounded etc from the escape, Perona would want her boss' to survive and she'd trust Mihawk to help probably. And god knows, if Blackbeard tried or even succeeded at stealing Moria's Fruit, the man could have some legit good intel on Blackbeard (and how he steals powers) that he could then share with CG, something Crocodile could appreciate. Also, if Crocodile and Mihawk want to ensure the Marines are too scared to come after them, getting Moria in their ranks would help with that.

Then there's Kuma. And. Well. Assuming Kuma doesn't kick the bucket in the next few chapters. If Kuma is still somehow alive and his soul/memories can be put into a body (some people have been suggesting his memories could be implanted maybe into a Pacifista or that giant robot on Egghead or maybe even his Seraphim, or maybe just memories could be returned back into his original body), and if he'll still have the ability to near-instantly travel across the planet then I'm putting my money on him returning to the Revolutionaries to be honest. But if he loses that ability, I don't think he's going to be sticking with the Strawhats to be honest. That said, he'll still need somewhere to go (with Bonney?), and with the rest of the Revs on the other side of the Grand Line... Cross Guild could, potentially, be the nearest, safest place for him, if for no other reason than the other former Shichibukai might be his safest bet right now. Especially if Crocodile ever did have any involvement with the Revolutionaries. But indeed, this assumes Kuma isn't Turbo Perma-Dead Forever, which remains to be seen.

I know a lot of people love Doflamingo and would love to see him back. Personally I want him to stay in jail, where he deserves to be. <3 Also I don't think Crocodile would ever want Doflamingo working for him, let alone go out of his way to travel to Paradise to let him out (though if they did, they could also release Weevil while at it, since he's also stuck in Impel Down) (But honestly, unless someone else goes to break Weevil out and Doflamingo just escapes while he's at it, don't think he's getting out)

Quick honorable mention to Law, since he is also a Former Shichibukai. His crew got nuked by Blackbeard but I doubt he'd join Crocodile and Mihawk for any reason, especially if he's still in the race for One Piece (assuming Cross Guild isn't) (Like Buggy is but Buggy might skedaddle for all we know)

But with the Shichibukai, this just leaves us with Hancock.

Thing is, last we saw her she was still in Paradise, wanting to reunite with Luffy. It is entirely plausible she could (or may already have) set out for the New World if she feels like she has to leave Amazon Lily to protect her home-- which she might have to, considdering without her warlord status the Government has gone after her. But indeed, if Hancock is on the run and heading to the New World, surely she'd want to find Luffy. So why would she ever join Cross Guild? She doesn't like men (aside from Luffy), so surely she wouldn't trust that disaster crew with a clown for a mascot. But again. This is where "what the fuck is Crocodile's end goal" comes in again. Because if he wants to destroy the World Government and wreck the Nobles' out of orbit... Well. I don't think convincing Hancock to go back to the place where she was kept in slavery for years would be easy. But also. Perhaps, just perhaps, she could be persuaded into committing some delicious revenge under the right circumstances (whatever that might be).

IDK man, there's potential here, things could get so interesting with Cross Guild and whatever the fuck Crocodile is planning (vs how Buggy's mutiny rolls out)

It is kind of funny though, how like the best case scenario for Cross Guild Shichibukai Reunion would be like. Kuma and his daughter. Moria, Mihawk and their collective daughter. Crocodad and his sharp boyfriend. And Luffy's wannabe fiancée. (The clown is optional)

Logan tried to murder Chuck. What then?

After the sun set on Krakoa and the dust settled, Charles Xavier surrendered himself to 'human authorities.' He was being transported to his super prison built by Reed Snitchards and Tony Nark when...

Logan came to kill him in a very unsubtle way. Surely those guards died or at minimum suffered serious permanent injuries. What little we get of his motivation is an objection to Chuck's time as Sentinel X - killing a bunch of humans. Logan Behavior, basically. Certainly hypocrisy.

Pretty stylish entrance though, The Shining style. He's just about to gut him after Chuck declines explaining himself or speaking at all. Keep in mind resurrection Protocols just phased into another dimension - Logan is aiming to kill Xavier permanently (comic book permanent obviously) here despite the fact he's going to prison for life. He'd actually be subverting punitive state justice here.

I hardly need to say that this is pretty extreme for Logan. He's killed countless people, but for the last few decades he's worshipped the ground Charles walks on. After AvX, when Chuck committed suicide by Phoenix, Logan appointed himself the custodian of 'the dream' and ran the school (though he renamed it after Jean because he's a creepy and petty man.) Cyclops is often held up as Chuck's heir, but I think Logan is just as much. (Though Jean and Storm beat them both out and surpass him.) Maybe this is a hypocritical broken pedestal moment.

Magneto objects, freezing him in place and proclaiming 'no more martyrs.'

Did you know 9/10 failed murderers say 'cripes?'

Then he yeets him out of the prison and levitates it so he can't get back in. Mags and Chuck have a chat and we see nothing of Logan until Wolverine #1.

These people all need therapy. Emotional intelligence so low.

That murderous unilateral motivation seems to have cooled - 'Charles doin' what he did' is third on his list of things that took their toll. Not to minimise his pain, but everyone else has experienced those things too. Many had it worse. Scott, for example, was tortured for six months with his eyes sewn shut and a broken back (which... healed somehow.) If someone else was doing this he'd call them out at best, more likely he'd tell them to get over it. This is #Logan Behavior, though it's weird he doesn't mention Daken's death.

Brief aside - was he truly needed in the pack? I can't see what use a throng of wolves would have for a naked guy with opposite sleep patterns, very different dietary requirements, and the inability to breed with them. His presence got them killed. He was tolerated at best, more likely an imposition. Kevin Costner motherfucker.

I'm 99% sure this is next chronologically. Scott says Logan was 'in the area so he asked him to investigate' - 'the area' being Santo Marco, a fictional South American country that Magneto briefly conquered in 1963. The X-Men answered his distress call.

No mention of Chuck here, and he greets Scott warmly. No thank you though. They patch him up back at the Factory. Looks like he does have use for X-Men.

Wolverine can absolutely give up. It's his thing.

From 'I never should have left the woods' this has to be after Wolverine #1, but before Uncanny X-Men #1-4, because that takes place over a few days and the phone call between Rogue and Scott implies so. We only get the end of this conversation, but it's very safe to assume it was a soft recruitment offer and assumption of a family relationship. No mention of Chuck here either. He claims he's done, citing Krakoa as a loss. It is a loss, but it also bought back the 16 million Genoshan dead and established a mutant paradise in a heaven dimension - one he could have gone to.

Also, Logan didn't build shit. He had nothing to do with Genosha, in fact he opposed and obstructed it. He bailed on Utopia and the narrative kept genocidal threats away from the school. He had little to do with building Krakoa itself and while he went on the missions he was asked to, he remained a skeptic the entire time. He didn't trust the island and lived on the moon in a polycule. Anyway, he tells Scott not to come looking for him. I promise you he wouldn't say that to Jean.

Looks like he's fine hanging out with Rogue and Gambit. Rogue seemed fine with joining Cyclops and co, but doesn't argue at all when Logan (who is hours away from leaving and has no intention of staying) shoots it down for... reasons? They were X-Men enough when they rescued him from Santo Marco, ingrate.

Neither should struggle to imagine a community 'run' by Scott Summers. Logan has been living with him for at least 3 years and he wasn't everywhere when Logan and Jean were banging. Rogue was on a Krakoan X-Men team with Scott and he and Jean prepped new leaders and stepped back. They all considered themselves Krakoan and Scott 'lived to serve.' How does it end this way? The Chuck question answers itself, though Logan doesn't say 'I wish Magneto didn't stop me killing him' or something. Scott? Uhhh, you took this misanthrope's grumbling as gospel. Go to Alaska and say hi! Or maybe he'll call you. Kate? Uhm, she just told you. She broke in Fall of X, you know this.

Interestingly, Logan uses the term 'fill Chuck's chair.' I thought he was quitting the parts that don't work? 'Why do you even want to?' should be self explanatory. Rogue receives a phone call after this from Scott, and she says he's 'the last person she wants to speak to.' Maybe Logan is right and he shouldn't be around people. He infected Rogue with Scott haterism very quickly.

The Outliers show up and less than a day later he leaves, heading for the nearest forest. Even the swamp hag that guts him thinks he's a whining bitch. Logan is aware that Rogue's group are planning a prison break, that children are being hunted, though it doesn't stop him leaving.

Put all this together and it paints a very human portrait of a traumatized person pushing everyone away, albeit in the most immature way possible. This is what Magneto referred to when he said Logan Behavior, and he's right. If I was talking about a real life person it'd be unforgivably callous, but I'm not. I wrote this piece to interrogate his continuity from Krakoa to FTA, and I was expecting it to make less sense to be honest. As I said, this is textbook trauma response. It portrays that well, but the whiplash of Logan going from 'murder Chuck no matter the collateral damage' to 'Chuck did bad things but Cyclops is worse - don't be friends with him, Rogue' is severe and unsatisfying.

Uncanny #700 was one of the last things written for Krakoa, so it's likely that information wasn't available for FTA writers. Except Logan and Kate had both sworn they'd kill Chuck with plenty of notice, so I don't think that deserves a pass. Is anyone surprised by this? Maybe I should just write a post that says 'From The Ashes doesn't care about smooth continuity and has clumsily broken up these teams by fiat. Just ask Havok, Polaris, Angel, Storm, Omega Red, Jubilee and Shogo, etc etc. Also, it's pretty fucking mid' and pin it on my Tumblr.

That's no fun though. Even when it sucks, when it's safe and nostalgic, when everything you loved has been swept away and replaced with cardboard cutouts, when it's 'fine I guess', and even when it's great; the play's the thing. I love the X-Men and fans have as much ownership of the story as anyone. Not entitlement, just the right to be a part of the narrative, close to the characters. I find it fun and if I ever don't I'll stop (or spend a few years covering Krakoa). I hope you do too. Importantly, you should be critical of the things you love in good faith. As for Marvel the capitalist entity - all bets are off. Fuck em. They do it for the money, we do it for the love.

Hey, Dragon Prince fans, let's play a game! Season 7 is (kinda near ish) so how about for season 7, we post 7 things we want to see!

I'll start:

Laurelion - I've been curious about them for so long now. I would really like to know more about them. It's a shame the necklace Claudia found of theirs didn't come with a backstory note.

Elarion - Probably one of my most wanted things to see, Elarion has intrigued me, like Laurelion, for a long time but longer. I want to know what happened there. I want to know the full relationship between Ziard and Aaravos. Were they friends? Acquaintances? Did Aaravos help with building the city? He gifted them Dark Magic so he had to be there for a while right? I need to know more.

Hot take here but I don't want a storyline where Ezran is mad at Runaan for killing Harrow. Why? Well because Zubeia was the one who called the attack. Runaan was doing his job. If Ezran is upset with Runaan, he should be upset with Zubeia too. I don't want it to take up unnecessary screen time when this is the last season of this arc and maybe (but hopefully not) of this show.

Another thing I don't want is for Aaravos to be coined. I know it's a popular theory on how he's going to be defeated but he literally just got out of his prison. I feel it would be super anti-climatic just to imprison him again, especially after waiting for him to get out after 6 seasons. And he's supposed to be one of the most powerful beings alive, coining him after him only being out for one season would be kind of a joke tbh. And for him as someone who has been betrayed in the past, he wouldn't let his guard down a second time so it wouldn't make sense.

Leola flashbacks. I just want to see her.

I want to know why Stella has been yeeting stuff in the background. I actually hope it has juicy relevance.

Last but not least, Aaravos is finally out man! I want to see him just do things! And I am especially looking forward to seeing what his relationship with Claudia will be like. We know they spent 2 years DMing each other via a magic sparkle catapiller so now he's free, it'll be more hectic and I'm here for it.

Quelques uns d'entre eux m'ont fait rire, comme Callum qui regarde la prison d'Aaravos, c'est le pondering orb. Aussi j'aime bien le fait qu'ils se soient réunis dans son bureau. Pauvre Opeli et Barius qui doivent écouter leurs aventures bien que j'imagine qu'elle doit être blasé et Barius plus curieux qu'autre chose. Et Aaravos qui yeet la prison et probablement Callum dedans. Pauvre gars, il a été battu à pierre, papier, ciseaux par un ado.

Du coup la scène où on voyait Rayla sauter c'était dans le bateau au final. Après je me demande si le feu est naturel ou non, vu que c'est un ancien bateau vu l'énigme là dessus. J'imagine qu'ils étaient en train de parler puis vient le moment doux et là bam ! Incendie ! Vite ! Quittez le navire !

La scène avec Ezran qui est sauvé par Zym est sûrement le fait qu'il aille voir Janai et Amaya au sujet de Zubeia. Pour quelqu'un qui justement voulait qu'Ezran et Janai interagissent. Et peut être Ezran rencontrera Sol Regem vu qu'il a déjà rencontré les autres archidragons, je suis pas contre ! Corvus a été menotté mais je vois pas Soren, il est où ? Et Amaya est encore vivante donc c'est déjà ça, hâte de voir la bataille !

Et la dernière scène où elle parle dans la tour céleste, j'ai plus l'impression qu'elle parle aux elfes célestes. Et vu comment Stella lance ce regard, je sens que c'est pas Callum. Imagine juste Callum qui essaie de la rejoindre depuis en bas alors qu'il est occupé avec d'autres elfes célestes qui lui barrent peut être la route !

A few of them made me laugh, like Callum looking at Aaravos prison, it's the pondering orb. I also like the fact that they met in his office. Poor Opeli and Barius must be listening to their adventures, although I imagine she might be more jaded and Barius more curious than anything else. And Aaravos who yeet the prison and probably Callum in it. Poor guy, he's been beaten up by rock, paper, scissors by a teenager.

So the scene where we saw Rayla jump was in the boat in the end. Then I wonder whether the fire is natural or not, given that it's an old boat and the riddle about it. I imagine they were just talking, then came the sweet moment and bam! Fire! Quickly! Get off the ship!

The scene with Ezran being saved by Zym is surely about him going to see Janai and Amaya about Zubeia. For someone who wanted Ezran and Janai to interact. And maybe Ezran will meet Sol Regem since he's already met the other archdragons, I'm not against that! Corvus has been handcuffed but I can't see Soren, where is he? And Amaya's still alive, so that's something, can't wait to see the battle!

And the last scene where she's talking in the celestial tower, I feel more like she's talking to the celestial elves. And the way Stella's giving her that look, I can tell it's not Callum. Just imagine Callum trying to reach her from below when he's busy with other celestial elves who may be blocking her way!

ah-ha, queen of tears reached the half-way point, so they needed to be DRAMATIC. and what's more dramatic than a chaebol family getting yeeted out of their own company and house?

kinda mean, but it was quite satisfying to watch the hong family just crumble. grandpa is the only self-made man out of them, and he lost sight of his humble beginnings. On top of that he's doing shady business, AND he's easily swayed by (fake) shaman readings, essentially. when caught, his immediate reaction is to get someone else to go to prison for him.

they're all truly kinda silly as a whole, and it was no one's fault but their own in the end; i think they need a little taste of failure to build themselves back up.

i knew hyun-woo was gonna take them all in, so i guess the next two episodes will be full of fish-out-of-the-water shenanigans between our "countryside" (family centered) and our chaebols (maintaining appearances) with hae-in and hyun-woo bridging the gap (awkwardly).

you reblogged that old ask about pissa ever going anywhere with their relationships and i've had some thoughts about this topic and it's probably gonna become a little bit of a rant so no pressure answering or even reading it's your askbox of course. so firsts things first jusr as you said the the answer to that task missa would definitely have to be more present on the server for this to not fall flat and feel very surface level. that being said the ender king stuff that's been going on with phil could potentially be a catalyst for things to move forward but personally i don't know if i like this idea 100%. while it is crucial to phil's character because well it's his lore! i presonally wouldn't like missa to become just an extension to him and a plot device for his story. i'd love missa to have more developement on his own or with other people first because as you said yourself a lot of the times when he's on the server him and phil barely leave each other's side.

the thing with phil ignoring missa's feelings in a way is that it could be easily attributed to him being a repressed old bird, which well, he totally is. and the threat of the ender king constantly looming over him and his loved ones definitely doesn't help with opening up to people these days. but that's where a lot of developement could happen for him and he's already been talking more to his eggs so hopefully he can exchange that trust and honesty to missa soon. and if it takes the ender king to do it then so be it i have more faith in missa being open about things on his own accord than this guy.

honestly i think i saw a post similar to what i'm going to say but i really hope the prison kiss will push some unspoken boundary between them that makes them perhaps question some things or move forward. i'm personally any type of pissa enjoyer but i just hope they can confront each other at some point and talk about how they feel. there's a lot of potential for a very sweet story here it would be a shame if nothing ever happened with it. i know it's probably wishful thinking but hey i can dream.

also we don't really know how the server is going to look and to what extent it's going to be reset but it could be a good chance for them to hang out more if let's say some bases get yeeted or they need to gather resources. or even if the bases are untouched it feels like a good moment for less active members to join since there's been a little bit of pause. what i'm saying is missa please log on more it's really crucial to this.

i do agree that Missa should get to write his own lore whether it coincides with Phil's or not, he doesn't seem to be into scripting interactions with the others he's more likely to just start playing a bit and then bouncing off that for his cubito's story (spreen's betrayal and him leaving roier's house for it, kidnapping by wolves, being in love with phil, fortnite cheese putting him in prison) overall there's no evidence missa's gonna be involved in the ender king plot in canon unless he and Phil have talked about it

definitely think having a lot of new untouched space could take most of the pressure out of just walking around and seeing everything expand so quickly and being worried about building somewhere someone might have already claimed or on someone else's grounds

canon romantic pissa is still up in the air but ccphil and missa are most definitely aware that they're playing into a traditional romantic love story, theyre gonna have to decide if it'd be better or funnier to keep pivoting around the subject and drive everyone on the island insane or to get the ball FUCKING rolling

As long as you meet those requirements, you're entirely free to join the discord server! The minecraft server only adds the additional requirement of needing to be able to run java edition. No mods are needed; Sif's firm goal is that anyone who doesn't want to touch any of that doesn't need to do so. As someone who joined the server not too long after the End opened up in season 1, I can attest that the folks in both the discord and minecraft servers are absolutely lovely. We're all very friendly, I prommy, and our admins (Sif and Vault) strike a good balance between being kind and understanding yet also willing to pull out the newspaper to bop people if we're getting a bit rowdy.

For that aforementioned inexplicable person not yet inducted into Dreblr unaware of what kind of things go on around there, we have: -Giant beet fields of increasing size (season 3 will feature a ring of them around spawn, god help us) -Warden Wranglers, aka the clowns -clown quests -scavenger hunts -server tradition of jumping off the clown tent -Our original clown, @sunshine-in-a-bottle, begging us not to jump off of the clown tent -nobody listening and us all jumping off of the clown tent anyway, to the point where it's SUCH a staple that both prior seasons ended with us all jumping off of it as the server closes -there are many clowns and the circus will likely expand more this season :o) -we've apparently had multiple cults -mysterious structures of unknown origin or importance -people with no life (me) setting up shops/lugging unholy amounts of things back to yeet at anyone who needs them -(please take things from me I want to help people so badly, s1 a lot of people had no idea I was hoarding to give away so I opened up a shop in s2 and it helped SOME but NOT ENOUGH) -the Porb (prison orb), a giant floating orb of obsidian which housed a warden -I have no idea where it was made in s2, but in s1 it was in spawn. you could not see it at night. it was VERY FUNNY. -(other people have disagreed on this, hence it not being in spawn for s2.) -many farms and qol perks, ranging from elevators to a huge villager trading hall to death chests -yes, the first and last can exist without you needing to download mods! Server-side mods are amazing. So are datapacks. -this season we're gonna be doing nearly all of the public structures from scratch again, and we've already been talking about what to do. -personally, I'm gonna try and set up the player shopping district fairly early on. I feel like I waited too long last season. Also I just want to scout a good area out before prime locations get yoinked and I can set it up near my house again. I could literally spend hours here trying to come up with a list of fun things we've done/plan to do, but I kind of need to do some eepy before the appointed hour arrives. I hope this has made you, baffling and probably nonexistent person who isn't already aware of this existing, consider joining the fun. We'd love to have you!

How was the portrayal of Mikoto, I'd like to know your thoughts if you have time to read all that- that is. No pressure if you don't though. It's pretty long.

To be honest my current hyper is actually just me, myself, and fucking I. Yet, that's not a media and I did just write all that so ya already know I'M- (<- Accurate depiction of the fanbase falling into super hell trial three. I'll be fine though~ Because I was already in hell. So, I'm just going to be going, "Super!")

I've pretty much been embodying this song. To me selfcare is recognizing when I don't want to speak to anyone and not pushing myself to do so out of a misguided fear of missing the opportunity to, or misinterpreted my own feelings and ways of display care and consideration one-sidedly. Ultimately causing a lot of undue stress. That and generally recognizing that no one is ever entitled to the ability to access/communicate with someone else especially if someone is abusing that ability.

This may sound antisocial, maybe on some level it is. Yet, this is actually the most social I've been in a year. It's more just a reminder to myself to just not talk to people who make me feel bad about talking to anyone at all or about my hobbies. Something that some may be able to tell I've been really getting back into.

The Parallel Effect - 2. How did you come up with the idea?

The original thought was “Jumanji AU”, and I had the thought pretty early on that I wanted Kara to think she was trapped in a Black Mercy (only to later learn she was stuck in Obsidian with Lena). That was actually intended to last longer, but I ended up clueing the audience into what was happening pretty early. (I hope the moodboard still implies that, though.) 

From there, the story kind of evolved into playing around with different tropes (“there was only one bed”), though I won’t spoil why just in case someone reading this hasn’t read the fic yet and wants to.

Shadows in the Sun - 2. How did you come up with the idea?

Me writing rojarias is 100% your fault and you know it ❤️ I knew pretty early on that I wanted Sam to be involved in the Catco handoff to Andrea, and thought it’d be hilarious if they accidentally solved the rift in the background.

Originally, I wasn’t planning on Sam or Andrea finding out that KDISG, and I was going to put more humor into that happening in the background. (I also thought there might be an Andrea/Lena hatefuck era in there, but that ultimately didn't make it into the story either.)

I knew I also wanted to play a bit with Andrea’s narrative similarities to Kara. I think Andrea’s personality is similar to Lena’s, and I think Lena probably learned how to be sophisticated from Andrea in some sense. But Andrea also has similarities to Kara in how the rift played out - I purposefully wrote Kara very sympathetic to where Andrea is.

6. How did you decide what tense and POV(s) to use?

I primarily wanted to focus on Kara's point of view, because the changes of the pink kryptonite were subtle, and I wanted her to not quite realize what was happening (and for the audience to internalize that, or be able to go back and say "oh, those were the signs").

The hardest part to write here was the almost-kiss scene, because I usually don’t like switching POV midscene. But it’s Kara who initiates, and I wanted to show the audience her thought process in doing that - but Lena needs to be the one to stop the kiss, and I wanted the audience to understand that too.

Pulling in Lois’ POV was fun. I tend to lean into my impression of her character from Smallville rather than Arrowverse, though I’ve never actually seen Smallville, so who knows if that’s accurate. (I have a friend who’s a deep Clois fan who I’ve talked a lot to about both Clois and Supercorp, I’m sure her interpretations influenced mine to an extent.) I toyed around with her having a more active (slightly trollish or crackfic-ish) role in the story, but none of that resonated quite right.

For tense, I find it hard to write in anything but past tense, even though I don't notice when reading whether it's past vs. present.

11. What was the most challenging aspect of writing it?

The most challenging part was actually the waiting - this was my first event fic, and I was still in a habit of yeeting things onto AO3 soon after writing.

I ended up tweaking the fic over time, adding another 1-2k words that were very much needed. Waiting is a good thing! Maybe someday I will learn patience 😂

19. While editing, did you kill any darlings? What were they?

All the time!! Though it’s hard to answer what since they tend to disappear from my mind when the fic is done. The nice thing is that they often reinvent themselves in some other fic/ficlet months later.

There’s a scene between Kara and Lillain that I wanted to write into No One and Nothing, before I remembered that Lillian was still in prison and so it made no sense to insert her there. That scene ended up slotting perfectly into Darkness in All Things, in a way that felt plot-driven given her involvement in the rest of the story.

25. Share your favorite line

Ooooh this is tough. I've now written 232k words, apparently, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others that might be my favorite. But I think it might be the passage from Even Though You're Kryptonian, where Kara has just taken a phantom zone projector blast in order to protect Lena:

Kara smiled softly, the expression not quite reaching her melancholic eyes, as the light enveloping her reached her neck and her face, becoming nothing but a burning, bright as it enveloped her in her entirety - the wide flame suddenly collapsing into a small sphere as it hovered. A momentary, brilliant spark that vibrated quickly, before snapping out of existence. And Kara was gone.

We’ve got some great examples of Jonathan using physical touch as either an expression of admiration, companionship, or affection.

Take the first time we see Jonathan and Evy interact in The Mummy (1999) - when she’s feeling down, the first thing he does is console her and he does this through physical touch (also words of affirmation, which I believe is his second love language, though you’re spot-on with snarkiness.)

He even holds onto Evy’s arm when they visit the prison where Rick is being held. Yes, it can be that he’s afraid of being there (especially since he stole from Rick) but it’s also a way for him to protect his sister; being able to tug her away if there’s any danger and also in case she feels afraid as well.

Then, when he first interacts with Rick outside the prison, he gives him a warm handshake and pats him on the chest as if they’re already good friends. They hardly know anything about each other at this point, but Jonathan makes the effort to be as friendly as possible (that’s also probably due to his British charm but I digress.) This interaction also acts as “I apologize about before but I promise I’m pretty decent once you get to know me” without saying the words directly.

Now, what about in a romantic sense? Take the first time we see him in The Mummy Returns (2001) - he’s walking with Sheila down the hallway, an arm wrapped around her side and holding her close to him. Yeah, he’s feeling great right now but the option to simply walk beside her is right there and he opts for sticking as close to her as possible instead.

I’m going to take this brief moment to say that he’s a huge gentleman since this is most likely after ~things have gone down~ and he’s walking her out, either to her car or to drive her back to her place (as discreetly as possible.) I just think that’s neat. He keeps up a conversation with her and keeps up the physical touch as well.

Of course, we have all the sweet moments with him and Alex; a hand on the shoulder, wrapped up in a hug, leading the other by the arm, hand holding, etc. Their relationship is so adorable. [x]

Also, he grabs a hold of people in an effort to protect them. Even if he can’t do it very well, he certainly tries (I’d screencap those moments but it’s always mid-sprint so the picture comes out super blurry.)

He also gains comfort through physical touch. Since he’s been through a lot of high stakes, a friendly pat on the back or arm, or even getting pulled away from danger (Rick yeets him so much, it’s so funny) gives him the assurance that 1. he’s not alone & 2. there’s someone there to help him.

I think Jonathan is one of those people who think that when words fail, actions speak louder. So, he shows his love for people (whether platonic or romantic) through physical touch; something that says that he cares without uttering the words himself.

That’s just my opinion, though!

So on one hand… I hate the sentimonster bulls*** that’s all but confirmed… on the other hand Marinette’s speech was badass af.

I thought the feligami would be forced but it actually felt natural. I liked the episode

The Adrienette was good and I really hope they do SOMETHING that allows Adrien to break free.

So… thinking about Caine and AM…

To be honest if you asked me who got it worse of their prisoners I’m not sure how I would answer.

Sure, the first instinct would be say “Of course is the IHNMAIMS cast who got it worse! They’re actively tortured constantly, can feel hunger and thirst etc.” but both the situations have both “good sides” and “bad sides”. 

For example at least in IHNMAIMS you can escape with death (well, with a loophole, but still a way), in TADC that’s not possible and all you can do is wait to become Abstracted.

There’s also how the AIs treats his prisoners.

AM tortures them and makes no secret he hates their guts. 

Caine… if he hates the cast… he doesn’t show it at all. Heck, maybe he even cares about them. His problem is that he doesn’t understand humans that well (what do you mean playing “adventures” aren’t fun anymore when one gets harmed?) and there are things with which he has limits (the fact he can’t control the Abstractions and the only thing he can do to deal with them is throw them in the basement - and he probably doesn’t even realize that for a human seeing someone becoming a digital monster and then yeeted in a secluded place can be traumatizing -). It’s not like he doesn’t want them to find an exit, he just doesn’t know how to make one.

Also I don’t think he realizes he was gaslighting Pomni when he went all “Exit? What exit?” (contrary to what some posts may tell you, you don’t always realize you are being toxic) but just thought he was calming her down or that those were the right words to use rather than “Oh no, it’s unfinished”.

And now, I do realize I’m not saying something new. You find a similar analysis in TvTropes.

But you know, one can’t help but wonder: what is worse/more terrifying?

An AI who actually hates you (so you’re resigned he’s going to torture you forever and is never letting you go) or an oblivious AI (who doesn’t realize he’s making you suffer and is giving you false hopes)?
