of courseeeee <3 i was horribly shy as a child and still am to some extent, so some of these assumptions are based on my own experience!

Though he likes your shyness, he sometimes finds it annoying

Akutagawa (likes that you keep to yourself in public so enemies tend to overlook you, but he doesn't like having conversations on your behalf because you're too shy to make a phone call), Fyodor (likes that you're quiet and keep to yourself when other people are around, but doesn't like when you get shy toward him), Jouno (likes that you don't approach people or start conversations, but hates when he has to guess what you want because you won't just say it).

He likes that you're shy and finds it very cute when you need him to help you with social things.

Nikolai (you cling to him in public; sometimes he likes to disappear and watch from afar as you panic and search for him because the look of joy and relief when you finally spot him goes straight to his heart), Ango (feels like you're safe from harm because you keep to yourself and let him run a lot of errands for you; he loves feeling needed by you), Sigma (is surrounded by bold people, so you're a breath of fresh air being fairly quiet and calm; he'd do anything for you at the drop of a hat and doesn't even realize you need the help because you're shy), Junichiro (is also fairly timid, so he likes having a quiet, introverted relationship with you; you spend a lot of time at home playing games and cuddling; he can overrule his own anxiety to do things for you), Bram (is endeared that you're quiet and shy when others are around; he hates when people consider you his trophy wife or ask if he has you under a spell; he'll get in fights with people over this), Poe is the only person you've ever met who's as shy as you are; he hides in public, he trembles when he has to ask for something; only you and Ranpo know how fun and silly he actually is, and only they know the same about you), Mori (adores your timidness and enjoys controlling you as much as you'll let him; it's not necessarily toxic but it can certainly get there...), Oda (considers you as beautiful as the cherry blossoms in the spring after a dark, cold winter; he'd do anything for you, no questions asked), Chuuya (enjoys protecting you, helping you, cheering you up; he does wish you could have a bit more confidence because he wants everyone to know how radiant you are, but he's content keeping your shine to himself).

He generally finds it cute when you get shy, but wants to help you be more confident.

Fukuzawa (understands that it can be scary to talk to people, so he never pushes you and while he happily does things for you, he also gradually coaches you into being more confident), Dazai (selfishly loves that you cling to him in public and need him to do things like order at restaurants on your behalf; he just wishes you knew how much power you have and thinks it'd be hot if you acted really confidently sometimes), Tachihara (feels so important when he gets to help you, but sometimes he wishes he had a bold, dynamic partner who would go out with him and do all the crazy things he wants to do without shying away), Atsushi (finds you very cute and is happy to do things that you're too shy to do, but he recognizes his own lack of confidence in you and wants you to blossom the way he did), Tetcho (thinks that you're sweet if not a bit naive and wants to make you happy; he also thinks you'd be happier if you didn't need to rely on him so much).

He gets annoyed when you're "overly shy" and wants you to be more confident.

Ranpo (doesn't understand why you can't just say what you want to say and do what you want to do; has no concept of anxiety and is not helpful), Kunikida (gets frustrated when your shyness messes up his scheduled plans; he wants you to be more confident for your benefit but also his), Fukuchi (tells you he doesn't want a partner he has to take care of, and tells you to get used to doing things on your own), Mushitaro (is very independent and wants a partner who is equally so; he gets annoyed when you need help or cling to him in public and constantly tries to make you more independent). (Bonus discussion on the longevity of these four relationships.)

Some people just aren't cut out for life. We are all dealt a hand, some cards interchangeable. But for the most part, they mold us; and make us who we are. They map out the rest of our lives. So what are you supposed to do when all the cards you've been handed don't play in your favor?

Even the interchangeable cards; you discard them only to pick up more rotten ones. Your judgment is poor, and your decision-making only gets you stuck between a rock and a hard place. 

You envy the people who were gifted better cards. People who were not condemned from the start. Those are the people who make something out of their lives, the ones who are deserving of taking up space.

You know this sounds self-deprecating, and yeah, it is. But to you, it's also logic. You think that's why you dislike Dazai Osamu.

When he talks so freely about death, his desire for a perfect suicide. It makes your stomach turn, not for obvious reasons, but for selfish ones. He plays off his pain as a joke so no one thinks twice about it when he asks a pretty stranger to "commit a double suicide" with him.

You try so hard to conceal your suicidal thoughts, hiding your depression behind a pretty mask. Showing up to work each day with a smile on your face and a "can do!" attitude. 

You and Dazai really are the same in that aspect, masking your pain so it's less noticeable to others around you. 

Your abdomen twists into knots when he talks so freely about suicide because it causes your mind to wander and your mask to slip. Dazai always seems to pick up on that slight change in you when it happens, too. His chestnut eyes bore holes into your profile from where he sits beside you. You can feel his eyes on you as you try to smile brighter, putting on a chipper face as Kenji updates you on how the cows on his farm are doing.

You hate it. It feels like he's reading your mind; retaining all your deepest darkest secrets. Does your face really give you away so easily? No... It can't be that. You've been working at the Detective Agency for a long while now, and since then, no one else has ever assumed something was wrong with you. 

If they only knew how pitiful your life really was. As much as you love all your colleagues at the Agency, you hate working. Waking up is exhausting, and you dread the repetitive daily routines you're forced to accomplish. On your off days, you sit at home alone- by choice. Interacting with others is draining, and when you're urged to participate in social activities, the anticipation and anxiety eat away at you until the day finally comes. 

Much like today, the day you've been letting eat away at you since the mention of a work party was brought to your attention. You practiced different smiles and laughs in the mirror, shaking your head and trying again when your "act" seemed too unnatural. You probably changed your outfit ten times before ultimately deciding on the same old thing you usually wore. 

Your hands were coated in perspiration as you balled your fingers, making a fist. You took in a shaky breath as you brought yourself to finally knock on Chief Fukuzawa's door. He welcomed you with a tight-lipped smile and a nod of his head, stepping aside to let you through. Immediately, you felt his eyes on you. Dazai watched your little performance as you greeted everyone, and when it was finally his turn to watch your act up close and personal- you froze. 

His eyes were too intimidating. You felt exposed in front of him. It irked you that he had such an effect on you. Why was it so easy to pretend with everyone else but him?

"Aww, where's my greeting?" Dazai smirked devilishly at you, raising his eyebrows slightly as he leaned in close. All-encompassing, invading your personal space. 

You remained quiet. You were on the outside looking in, screaming to yourself to say something- anything. Your gaze shifted to the floor as your hands came up to bunch up the hem of your shirt, rolling it between your fingers; an attempt to self-soothe. 

"I..."

"Oi! Stop teasing them, Dazai," Yosano shouted from the kitchen, plum-colored eyes still fixated on the fizzy concoction she began making for herself.

The sound of Yosano's strong voice ripped you from your stupor. Your head shot up, only to notice Dazai was still gazing at you- studying you. 

"I would do no such thing! I'm hurt that you think so low of me, Yosano!" Dazai's intense gaze finally eased up on you as he whipped his head around to face Yosano. The tall brunette man clutched a hand over his heart in feigned affliction. 

You took that as your opening to slip away, excusing yourself to the restroom. You hardly noticed the way Dazai's attention was drawn back to you at the sound of your hurried footsteps. "Hey- wait up!" 

You quickly pulled the bathroom door shut behind you. You could hardly look at yourself in the mirror, too ashamed of yourself for freezing up back there. The cool tile floor welcomed you as you sunk, curling into yourself. You hugged your knees as they drew closely into your chest. You could feel your rapid heartbeat in your throat, anxiety rising by the second.

"You know, I wouldn't be sitting on the floor if I were you. Let's get you up." Nothing registered until you felt firm hands grasp your biceps. A strong force drawing you up to rely upon your shaky legs. 

"Why- what are you..?" Your sentence fell off. You weren't entirely sure what you were trying to ask. Your mind was too convoluted with disappointment; shame for yourself. 

"The door was unlocked so I figured I'd let myself in! You weren't looking too hot out there, and I wanted to check up on you." Dazai's warm hands still cradled your biceps, untrusting the support your trembling legs half-heartedly gave you in your current state. 

"I'm fine," You chuckled out of nervousness before continuing, "I'll be out in a minute, so you can just go." You could tell by how Dazai looked at you that he didn't buy your lie, not even for a second. 

He let out a deep sigh, large palms moving up to your shoulders before he blurted out, "Stop, just- just stop. You're not fooling me, so quit it with the peachy-keen act. Why do you insist on hiding behind a facade?"

"Why do you?!" You shouted back. You brought your hands up to swat his hands off your shoulders. The shift between distress and rage made your legs feel more grounded. 

Dazai gaped at you for a moment. He genuinely looked taken aback before his face shifted into a tepid expression. He let his arms settle against his sides, his demeanor appearing more taut than usual.

"This isn't about me. Stop deflecting." His voice was eerily calm, making you feel unsettled. Seeing a more serious side to Dazai was far and few between for you. 

"But it is! I hate you... I hate you so much. You- you..." Your vision began to blur as tears spilled past your lashline and down your sullen cheeks. How embarrassing, you thought. Crying in front of the man that made your stomach turn. 

Dazai brought his hand up to your cheek, brushing away the onslaught of tears with the pad of his thumb. "I believe that hatred is displaced. You just don't want to acknowledge that."

Your eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as you drew your hand to grasp his wrist. You tugged with all your might to pull him from your cheek, but no give. Dazai stubbornly kept his large palm on your face. The warmth from his hand seared your skin. It was neither comforting nor unpleasant. Just... unfamiliar.

"You're wrong, I hate you-"

"No, you hate that you see yourself in me."

Your hand fell from his wrist. He was right, and deep down, you knew that. But you refused to admit it. It was shameful. You liked to hate Dazai because it took attention away from the real problem at hand, yourself. 

Dazai let out a sigh as he continued to wipe away your tears. "Tell me to stop if you hate it, but I'm going to hug you now." Before you could process, Dazai embraced you. His hand that was caressing your face only moments ago now cradled your neck. His other arm wrapped around your frame, enveloping you.

"I understand your pain well... I can see myself in you too. But I don't despise you, you know. I actually... worry for you. You try so hard to pretend that everything is fine. It must be exhausting."

It felt like your heart was being squeezed, as if your ribcage was collapsing in on itself. His words shot right through you, as did the guilt. You had been so unfair toward Dazai up until now. Using your displaced disdain for him as a distraction because you were too much of a coward to hold yourself accountable.

It ached so much to come to terms with. Your arms felt heavy as you pulled them up to wrap around Dazai's lanky frame. You quietly sobbed into his chest, grasping your hands into the back of his shirt desperately; as a small child would cling to their mother. 

Dazai hummed softly into your hair, welcoming the silence with open arms; as he did you. You were sure all your colleagues were wondering why Dazai and yourself had been in the restroom for so long, but you hardly cared at this very moment. 

For the first time, in a long time, you felt seen. Like you didn't need to hide when Dazai was in your presence... because even if you did- he would know. Being vulnerable felt similar to what you imagined walking a tightrope hung across two tall skyscrapers entailed. So, to say you were apprehensive about this was an understatement. 

However, in the same breath, it felt freeing. It took a little bit of weight off your shoulders to share your burdens with another person. But never in a million years did you think the person who brought you solace would end up being Dazai Osamu. 

"I'm sorry, Dazai- I'm so fucking sorry. I-"

"It's okay. Believe me, I treated people a lot worse than this from my own displaced hatred," Dazai interrupted. Caressing your hair softly, hyperaware of the wet feeling seeping through his shirt and smearing over his skin from your tears before he continued, 

"Just... just promise me you'll talk to me if it ever becomes too unbearable to handle on your own. I know how it sounds coming from me, I'm a hypocrite- huh? But trust me when I tell you… you are deserving of this thing we call living. Even if you can't see it yourself, I can... and I will remind you of that fact until I'm blue in the face if I have to." 

You pulled back from Dazai's chest as you sniffled, eyes scanning his stoic face. He smiled at you softly, rubbing up and down the sides of your arms in a comforting way. "There you are. I was beginning to think you cried your face off!" You chuckled at his dumb quip, letting your fingers untangle from the cloth adorning Dazai's back.

"Well, this is embarrassing... and I'm sure at this point all the others think were up to no good in here." It was Dazai's turn to laugh as his hands drifted lower, grasping yours softly. Your fingers intertwined as a lopsided grin painted your face.

"So let 'em! Who cares? The only thing that matters is that your heart is beating and you're here. Still standing in front of me." Your smile dropped slightly, the urge to cry bubbling back up, making your throat tighten.

"Dazai," You tightly squeezed his hands within your grasp. Scared that if you loosened your grip for even a second, this moment would be gone before you could say everything you needed to. "I'm really glad you're still here, too."

Dazai closed his eyes for a moment, his smile wavering. "There's so much pain in the world... sometimes it's hard not to notice it. I couldn't shut it out every time I felt your distress. That's why I kept a close eye on you all this time. I'm not just some creep with a staring problem,"

You both laughed at that sentiment before he continued, "I know with each day those painful thoughts are waiting for you. But it's not only that, there's also possibilities. Possibilities you can only discover as long as you're alive."

Your hands still clutched his with great force. His words caused you to cry once more as Dazai's eyes softened. He quietly cooed at you, whispering "don't cry," so gently, it was almost inaudible.  

"Dazai... I hope you know the same can be said for you, and your life," You paused, trying to swallow that lump in your throat before you continued. "I... want to help you- help you live. I know it doesn't mean much coming from me, but as long as you're still here I will do whatever I can to help you. I swear it."

Your tear-filled eyes bored into his chestnut ones. Desperately hoping your words got through to him. Dazai inhaled a shaky breath, eyebrows raising slightly. His lips curved into a tight-lipped smile before he let out a small chuckle. "You're really something else, you know that? Not even ten minutes ago you were shouting about how much you hate me. Now we're best buds... how cute!"

You knew he was deflecting, you guessed being vulnerable was just as daunting to him as it was for you. Before you could say anything more, the door flung open. Both Dazai and yourself whipped your heads in the direction of Kunikida shouting. 

"Dazai! Just what do you think you're doing- wait a damn minute! What did you do to Y/N to make them cry?! Get away from them this instant you damn pervert!"

Kunikida gripped Dazai by the collar, dragging him out of the restroom. When your hands untangled from his, you felt uneasy. There was so much more you wanted to say, but it would just have to wait... for now. 

You couldn't help but chuckle to yourself at the sound of Dazai shouting for you to help prove his innocence from presumably the living room. For the first time since you stepped into the bathroom, you looked at yourself. Taking in your disheveled state.

Ah, there it is again. That funny feeling.

Brief information for the F!bsd anime watcher(I’ll name her Victoria cuz I say so):

-Name: Victoria [last name I’ll just type ‘XXX’ in the introduction time(s)]

-Gender: Female, Pronouns: She/Her

-Age: 14 years old (idk how to write thoughts, behaviour, moods, goals that are ‘mature’ like adults’ ones cuz idk what they think so I set her as a teenager for myself to write this thing easier)

-Ability: Yall are gonna vote on if she’s gonna have an ability from nowhere

-Nationality: Chinese(I don’t wanna accidentally write some racist stuff if I say American or British or whatsoever)

Btw her character settings some are actually based off mine cuz I figure that it’ll be easier to write this if I imagine her as myself and I’ve imagined myself in the bsd word many times.

Summary of the last chapter: Victoria was pushed into the agency by Ranpo during Atsushi’s entrance exam, aka bsd season 1 episode 2, after that, Dazai suggested to let Victoria join the ada too, which made Victoria deep in thought again…about her goals, fake ones, and the true ones.

Ranpo pov

I’ve been eating my lollipop and staring at that child, what’s she thinking? Meh, I’m lazy to figure it out. Probably shits about herself being here, but welp.(bro figured out much without even trying to)

I simply walk back to my seat and continue to eat my snacks.

And then with Dazai’s whole speech, Fukuzawa just lets Dazai be in charge of Victoria’s entrance exam AND her case.(Vic did not say anything the whole time, which she also did realise it was a mistake)

And of course, Dazai cheerfully starts dragging her(she did follow) to the ada cafe. Atsushi asked about the others’ past job, and also knowing that Dazai’s one’s been a mystery that whoever guessed it right will get money(forgot how much). So when Dazai and Victoria walk in, Atsushi immediately starts guessing random jobs, which are all wrong.

Victoria pov

Atsushi goes back to his seat.

Should I… It’ll just change even more things, but who cares..? Em. Nah. Should I? To get Dazai’s extra protection, I need to do this, plus his observation skills will do the shits in the future anyway. Also for my money in Yokohama I guess…

Then I get closer to Dazai’s ear and whispers to it before Dazai goes to ask the waitress about having double suicide with him. “Ex Port Mafia executive, the Demon Prodigy to be more specific.” Dazai did not flinch or say a word, his gaze moved to my eyes for a second, it’s saying ‘you know a lot’ then simply claps his hands and says, “Vic chan guessed it!~ So the reward goes to her!~” he says with a cheerful tone, did not even look at me which was expected and runs to the waitress, damn he’s fast.

Everyone’s jaw drops and Atsushi and Tanizaki ask what Victoria guessed, which she shakes her head, she doesn’t say anything since she doesn’t want to get suspected by saying ‘it’s Dazai’s privacy’(sounds like she knows a lot about Dazai’s privacy) and she wants to be seen as rather quiet, so that people won’t talk and ask her questions too much(introverted thingy).

Victoria pov

Then Kunikida interrupts Dazai from speaking to the waitress starts beating up him, to actually see my favourite character being beaten in front of my eyes is not a pleasant sight, I stare at them for a while until I heard Atsushi, Tanizaki and Naomi start to discuss about what I guessed about Dazai’s past occupation, of course, I’m a topic in their conversation now.

I don’t like it. I always don’t like being a topic in other people’s conversations, it’s annoying to hear and see and sort of scary not knowing what they’re thinking and talking about, I then look at the table, ah shit I’m showing more weaknesses ain’t I.

I look down at the table and look up, I walk near to the table where Kunikida’s beating Dazai and order a coffee, I’ve always wanted to try it. I then glare at Kunikida, he’s one of my least favourite, possible my least favourite in Dazai’s harem and their relationship with Dazai. I then walk back and sit back on my original seat silently waiting for my coffee while waiting for higuchi to arrive after seeing Tanizaki got the call, everyone stands up and I do as well.

No one’s pov

As Victoria expected, Higuchi Ichiyo has arrived, she sits down on the opposite side of Atsushi Nakajima and Tanizaki Juinichiro. Meanwhile Dazai, Kunikida, Naomi and me are standing. Tanizaki starts the discussion with the question ‘You’ve mentioned that you’d like to request an investigation, but what manner of investigation are we speaking of here?’, as the question’s asked, Dazai’s somehow kneeling (I mean when did he start kneeling) and requests her to have a double suicide with him, Kunikida kicks(?) smacks(?) slaps(?) Dazai away.

“Do not kick him so hard, Kunikida san. It does hurt a lot, even if/when he acts rudely, violence is not the best way of dealing with something that annoys you.” Victoria speaks, perhaps it’s because of Higuchi, Vic’s staring at her, her main anxiety focus’s not on Kunikida right now.

Victoria’s pov

I stare at Higuchi as I drink my coffee, “Please continue, my apologies if Dazai san’s actions bothered you, Miss.”

Kunikida apologised to me, which I immediately stop the urge to say that “You should apologise to Dazai”, then he walks out of the room and closes the door(the door technically was closed by gravity and wind).

Higuchi continues talking.

(Just in case you forgot about what Higuchi said, here it is: “Regarding my request… Well, it seems there’s recently been a group of unsavoury people loitering in my company building’s back alley. They appear to be dressed in rags. Some of them have been heard speaking a foreign language.)

As Higuchi finishes explaining, Kunikida opens the door and speaks, “They must be smugglers or some such”, I sigh mentally, I wonder if Kunikida would beat Dazai if Dazai were one of his students in some sort of au like ‘Kunkida becomes everyone’s teacher’… The door closes(or Kunkida closed it idk cuz it didn’t show how it was closed in the anime).

I really forgot most details in season 1, a fake case of investigating the place and finding evidence of the ‘smugglers’ running afoul the law in order to ask for military police’s help.

No one’s pov

Kunkida tells Atsushi and Victoria to go, saying it’s the perfect first job for them, then he also tells Tanizaki to go with them, and of course, Naomi goes too.

When Victoria and Atsushi are packing some tools and their stuff(?), Dazai’s head is lying on the desk and Kunkida walks to them with a photo(still wondering how they got that, probably because of Ryunosuke’s recklessness) and warns us not to run into the dangerous man, if we do, run(Ryu-).

Victoria’s pov

As much as I want to be as invisible as possible, I still need to have that ‘curiosity’ of new and unknown stuff, they can’t know that I know about their future yet.

Atsushi takes the photo. Shin Soukoku Atsushi first sees Ryu, cool.

“Who is that man?” I ask.

“A mafioso.” Dazai answers, who’s sitting on the desk with his headphones around his neck and looking at us now. “Though we call them that because we know nothing else.” What a li— Stop thinking, anyway.

“They’re a vicious mob who claims the port as their territory.” Kunkida explains, looks at Atsushi and me, “They’re called the Port Mafia.” The atmosphere turns more serious, mood changes in anime I guess. “They’re the most dangerous gang in this city’s underground. Of them, the one in this photo is a very dangerous man beyond even the Agency’s reach.”

“He has no eyebrows.” I mumble, Dazai bursts out of laughter, that was a clear message of ‘I know about the fucking future’, then Kunkida tells Dazai to shut up.

“Em… Why’s he dangerous?” Atsushi’s sorta sweating and asks.

Then later(after something that I cut off), I ask, “Who’s this man that has no eyebrows?”, again, Dazai starts laughing.

“Akutagawa.” Kunkida replies as he frowns. I cannot let my guard down now, I can feel here, that means I can feel pain, I’m not some immortal teenage so I need to see him as an enemy, for now, for now. For now for sure…

Will Ryunosuke(‘Akutagawa’ is the last name of both Ryu and Gin so I’ll type their first names) attack me in any way with Rashoumon? Speaking of which, I’ve been wearing this dumb school uniform, man, I gotta buy some new clothes after work. Maybe I’ll live with Sushi so… I suppose I need to stop singing in showers, sigh.

Background information:

Upon managing to escape this situation at 14, Ami took to wandering Yokohama as a way to stay low. He has little recollection of those years of his life, but from the events he can recall, he refuses to speak of them. Wakes Fukuzawa up by sitting on his face (and possibly farting)

100% whiny kid who will only be quiet when stomach is full OR when suddenly put in a group of strangers of the same age

Social anxiety goes up higher than his ego

Fukuzawa is convinced Ranpo's been drinking juice his entire life just because of how much he consumes it. He breathes sugar

Messy kid but surprisingly not destructive. When alone, he sits in one corner eating his snacks in peace. When playing with others, well he plays around like a normal child

It's scary how much he both understands and does not understand about life (especially adult life) it's almost scary

Fukuzawa taught him go, not thinking much about it. Ranponot only destroyed his ass but also his pride (in one go pun not intended). After an entire day of trying to beat him, Fukuzawa never brought it up again. Peace was never an option

Yosano Akiko

Wakes him up by pinching his nose so he can't breathe

Yeah she's scary like that. A lot of boys her age are intimidated by her (because she can be such a brute) but otherwise she's pretty sweet

She likes cutting up things (paper things) with Kyouka. Paper flowers and other similar projects are her favorite

Favorite sweets are traditional Japanese treats. The three of them (Fukuzawa + Kyouka) eat those together pretty often

Opposite of Ranpo when it comes to cleanliness. Tidies up very often but can get destructive every now and then (especially when she's chasing someone)

When she's outside, she likes staying in the garden where the flowers are and observe any butterflies flying about. I think she even has a small book on butterflies just because of how much she likes them

Kunikida Doppo

At first, he tries to wake up Fukuzawa normally. "Wake up you should be awake now!!" If that doesn't work, he'll repeatedly smack his face until he gets up

Yeah no he's not a law-abiding obedient child. 100% rebel kid from the day he was born, and only listens to certain grownups like Fukuzawa

Similar to Yosano on the tidiness aspect. Neat freak but can get surprisingly destructive when with a certain other someone

It's cute tho how he tries to be more mindful of his surroundings since Fukuzawa scolds him so much (and he tries to tell the others to keep it down every now and then). But again a certain other someone just manages to tempt him so easily

Spends most of his time in physical games with other active kids because he has so much energy. When he gets tired he likes to scribble on paper and practice writing (since Fukuzawa has neat handwriting, he tries to copy it)

Actually he tries to copy Fukuzawa in a lot of things. You'll see him stick to him quite often

Dazai Osamu

Oh dear it's always a surprise with this one

Usually he doesn't wake Fukuzawa up and makes someone else do it, but when he does it's always some prank or another *cue tiny evil laugh*

Spends most of his time reading and annoying Kunikida. Physical/outdoor activities aren't his thing since he gets injured/tired quite easily

Doesn't clean and had wrecked the place more than enough times.

Ropes Atsushi into the stupidest and most dangerous things you could imagine a child doing. The number of small fires and broken things that Fukuzawa had to clean is staggering

When adults come over though, he's surprisingly well-behaved. But to be more specific it's more like he's intently observing them and analyzing their movements like a not-child would do

His favorite time is bath(tub) time and he sticks there longer than anyone should. He can throw a tantrum if taken out too early

Tanizaki Jun'ichirou

"Wakes" him up by gently pushing his shoulder. If it doesn't work, he gives up and leaves

Because of this he gets into a lot of dangerous (self-inflicted) scenarios. Trying to reach food in a high place, answering the door when he doesn't know who's on the other side, trying to reach a ball that got stuck on a tree

Really he should just wake Fukuzawa up/call an adult when he needs help. He may be shy yet independent, but it's still worrying how much he does on his own

Speaking of being on his own-

He does play with the other kids but most of the time no one knows where he is (unless he's with Naomi)

When he's with others, he's usually Yosano and Naomi's slave lol

His way of bonding with Fukuzawa is by finding and petting (and almost adopting) stray cats

Miyazawa Kenji

Wakes Fukuzawa up by a not-so-gentle squeeze on the arm

The most carefree of the bunch. He happily does whatever he wants and rarely gets into trouble

Except when it comes to lifting things. Fukuzawa nearly had a heart attack the first time he tried to reach a toy under the cabinet and tried (and almost successfully) lifted the thing with his two little hands

Ranpo eats the most frequently (and the most unhealthily) but Kenji eats the most number of bowls per meal. Beef gyudon is his favorite but any other rice bowl is going to get devoured just as much

He and Tanizaki are the most likely to sing/dance to music. It's cute how they just vibe with each other

The reason why he's so peaceful tho is that no one can beat him in a fight. And I mean no one. He may be one of the smallest/youngest but he has proven himself once and that was enough to scar everyone's minds (except the adults. They have no idea what actually happened)

Goes to the garden frequently with Yosano, but not because he likes the flowers. He likes the soil. It's weird but very cute

Nakajima Atsushi

Wakes Fukuzawa up very similar to Tanizaki. Only difference is that he lasts longer

Never gets into trouble because of that, though. He waits patiently for him to wake up and reach for food he's been craving, holds in his pee for as long as he could (even thought it's a bad idea), etc.

The only reason why he has so many "battle scars" is because someone keeps tricking him into doing dangerous things. Otherwise, it would've been safe to leave him with the other kids unsupervised

Has this toy plushie white tiger that he hasn't parted with since the day he arrived here. One time Fukuzawa tried to take it from him since it was dirty, but Atsushi cried so much it felt like Fukuzawa was committing a war crime

Eats rice bowls (especially chazuke) just as much as Kenji does

Most of the time he's sitting in front of the TV. He plays with other kids too but once his eyes are glued to the screen there's no going back

Izumi Kyouka

Wakes him up by poking some metallic object at his face

Spends a lot of her time inside, drawing and doing crafts with Yosano

The rest of the kids are noisy as heck which is why Fukuzawa was wondering if Kyouka is just really shy or uncomfortable. Turns out she's just really quiet and stoic (so much so she passes of as Fukuzawa's granddaughter)

It's not obvious but she eats just as much sweets as Ranpo does. It's quite alarming, actually

Hides in cabinets and/or clings to someone during a thunderstorm

Plays with Atsushi the most and follows him around. Will not tolerate anyone saying/doing anything bad to him

Like Atsushi has a toy stuffed rabbit she refuses to part with. It was one of the first things Fukuzawa gave her as well so maybe that's why

She's the most active at night. No one knows why but she just can't sleep easily at night (naps during the day are no problem) so Fukuzawa always puts her to bed last

Bram and Lovecraft always met up deep at night on the shore in the night from the 31. october - 1. november in the past. Normally Bram would need to be with his vampires, hunting down people and animals and having a big ball afterwards but he was never fond of such things and rather spend the night with his dear old friend

Nikolai loves Halloween

He will spend the whole day frightening Sigma and Karma, popping up from the most random places, wearing creepy masks and screeching

The first time when he tried to scare Sigma for the day, he sneaked up to Sigma from behind while the other was cleaning dishes in the kitchen, quietly saying his name and wearing a creepy horror clown mask, Sigma turned around so fast that Nikolai couldn't even back off and slammed the plate he was holding onto the clown's face out of reflex

Luckily Nikolai didn't got injuried but Sigma still apologized a dozen times before scolding him

Fyodor doesn't really care about Halloween but he finds the history of it rather interesting

Sigma doesn't really like Halloween but he likes trick or treating because he often gets free cookies

Ranpo only likes Halloween because of his boyfriends and because of all the sweets

The ADA always throws a big Halloween Party and since they made the truce with the PM, the organizations often celebrate together

Dazai terrorizes Atsushi the whole evening with creepy stories and frightens him with stupid pranks

Shibusawa sews the costumes for Nikolai, Sigma, Fyodor, Karma and him, himself

Dazai dresses up as a mummy so that he won't need to spend money for a costume

Nikolai, Sigma and Karma are thrilled to go trick or treating, even tho Sigma tries to hide it, and actually go from house to house while Fyodor and Shibusawa stroll behind them, talking about philosophical stuff, the history of Halloween, what they have planned for the rest of the evening, Fyodor occasionally complimenting Shibu for the costumes and both of them sometimes just watch thier boyfriends and thier basically adopted kid in amusement

Lucy is also invited to the Halloween Party of the ADA and of course she is bringing her girlfriend Louisa with her

Both of them prepare a bunch of Halloween snacks and cupcakes for the party too

Ranpo drags Poe and Mushitaro with him too but he actually keeps an eye on them to see if they are feeling comfortable or if Poe's social anxiety is acting up again

Poe talks with Louisa the whole time since they are still kind of best friends and are both standing around awkwardly, too shy or scared to actually talk with the others

They both get a bit more comfortable the more they talk with each other

Mushitaro trying to hide from Fukuzawa the whole time cause he really doesn't want to have any awkward talks with Ranpo's father figure, knowing that the leader of the ADA knows what he did in the past and knowing that he knows about his relationship with Poe and Ranpo

Yosano and Chuuya both chat for hours while drinking wine ( They both end up kind of drunk. Chuuya more than Yosano)

Atsushi is just so done with Dazai's bs the whole time

Shibusawa, Fyodor, Nikolai and Sigma have a movie night together with Karma after trick or treating

They then sit together on the couch in thier pyjamas and with thier thick wool socks on, cuddling, eating the collected sweets and drink tea while watching serval movies

When it's already very late, Karma has to go to bed and the four boyfriends stay awake a bit longer, watching Halloween movies for adults (Fyodor and Shibusawa usally play chess while Nikolai and Sigma watch the movie tho cause movies generally bore them) or playing card games

Sigma rarley really watches the movies bc these movies scare him too much. He rather looks at the ceiling or at his hands, swearing that he watches the movie and that he isn't scared when Nikolai starts him to tease about not looking at the TV

Ranpo, Poe and Mushitaro leave the Party earlier than the rest bc they prefer to stay in thier mansion, reading old gothic literature, books about ghosts and generally creepy books while listening to spooky old classical music and eating sweets in thier living room over staying at a chaotic party over hours. Ranpo wouldn't mind that much but after a time it gets a bit boring anyways and his partners don't feel that comfortable with staying that long

After some hours of reading, they often watch some old halloween movies or some ghost documentaries together and cuddle before going to bed

Dazai is swooning the whole time about Chuuya and how stunning he looks in his fancy demon costume to Kunikida

Poor Kunikida has to listen to all of it

Kyouka and Kenji go trick or treating with Yosano early in the evening before joining the party

Mori isn't invited

Atsushi and Akutagawa are actually spending the whole time together, causing Gin to tease her brother a bit

Karl steals candy the whole time

Dazai has to carry his husband back to their home late at night after the party cause he is a bit too drunk to walk all the way home

Akutagawa pretending to leave/ go back to the PM apartments, only to sneak through the window of Atsushi's apartment which the weretiger left open for him

Kyouka stays at Kenji's apartment the night for a big halloween pyjama party anyways so the two don't have to search any excuses why Kyouka can't stay at their shared apartment tonight

They stay up all night long, watching horror movies ( Atsushi hiding his face behind a pillow the whole time and Akutagawa tries to remain emotionless aswell as tries not to laugh about Atsushi getting spooked and screaming about every little thing that happens in the movie. It can be just a normal person standing there out of sudden. Atsushi will scream. Same)

Poe's mansion actually looks like a haunted victorian mansion after all the decorating

The Perfect Crime Trio actually decorates eveything weeks before Halloween

Poe is the type of person who tells the creepiest stories and then giggles awkwardly after finishing it, saying that it probably wasn't that good while Ranpo and Mushitaro just stare at him in a mix of shock and awe

Nikolai cosumes an concerning amount of sweets the whole day

Fyodor is questioning how all of this isn't too sweet for him

Kunikida gets super scared by every single stupid story Dazai tells him and it's super amusing to the latter

Atsushi is judging him

Dazai and Chuuya actually dance together to some songs

They have more sweets than some supermarkets at the party ( thanks to the PM which has more than enough money to buy this much sweets)

It's a miracle that Ranpo didn't got sick from eating super much sweets

The two of you met through Fukuzawa, actually! You and Fukuzawa are fairly good friends and bonded through calligraphy. Though you and Kunikida bond through languages! Kunikida wants to be more versatile, so he’s in the process of learning new languages to help communicate with new clients!

Kunikida has nightmares himself and a bit of insomnia. Doing what he does would take its toll on anyone after a while. Though he has specific medication to help combat both. But he’s your rock in your struggles! Whether that’s sitting with you through therapy sessions with a therapist or simply lending you a listening ear, or just sitting with you while he does paperwork. He’ll be there for you no matter what!

This boy is definitely tall, 6’2” in fact! He helps the best he can with your homework, but he’s a math guy, so I don’t know how much help he’ll be. He’s also definitely responsible! He’s the most reliable of the entire ADA except for Fukuzawa and MAYBE Atsushi. He helps you get into a routine to help you get the optimal amount of sleep possible and will even cuddle with you if it helps you sleep. And we know Kunikida. He’s not a big cuddling man! He also happily deals with social interactions for you if it makes you happier :)

This 6’1” hunk is an excellent match for you! It’s initially hard to get him to settle down into a relationship. Still, your personality lures him in, and before he knows it, he’s in a happy and healthy relationship with you! He enjoys watching you do calligraphy and even asks Cherry Blossom to help him learn it so you two can do it together! Tamaki is definitely a tall guy! At sixteen, he’s already 6’0” on the dot and likely to grow at least a couple more inches before stopping. His aesthetic is brighter, so you help tone him down and chill him out, so he’s not as exuberant all the time. In return, he helps you befriend the entire Host Club! And he’s definitely a bit flirty. It takes Tamaki some time to get used to you overworking yourself and insomnia. Novelist AU 2/205

The moon was high in the sky, the city was bustling with people and traffic. Poe was in his apartment after his conversation with Edogawa. He locked himself in his room, the sound of typing echoed. There was a ceramic mug on his desk, as it brings the fresh smell of coffee in the room. Karl curled up on Poe’s lap as Poe stared tiredly at his laptop screen. The blank document stared back at him as he released a sigh of disappointment.

“Too generic, boring.” Edogawa words echoed in Poe’s brain.

Poe agreed that the story was bland, the characters were too generic. He could’ve done better. No matter how much he tried to throw away the failed manuscript, he couldn’t do it. Instead, it was lying on his desk, mocking him with its ominous presence. Karl woke up, his brown eyes staring at Poe’s

“Karl, go back to sleep,” Poe whispered.

Karl gave a chirp before he jumped off Poe’s lamp and climbed onto the failed manuscript. Poe looked at Karl with confusion, he reached for the manuscript as Karl stepped off it. He slowly opened the envelope and a piece of paper fell gracefully on his desk.

Poe felt a blush crept up his neck, he took a few deep breaths to calm his quicken heart. He suddenly felt inspiration strike him. He rushed back to the laptop and the sound of typing filled the room. He patted Karl, as he gave a soft purr.

“Thank you, Karl,” Poe whispered.

The next week, Poe stood in front of the editorial office door, he was holding a newly written manuscript to his chest. He knocked twice on the glazed glass window of the door before he let himself in. The office was bustling with people and chatter filled the room. Poe looked around for Edogawa, but he couldn’t find him anywhere. He made his way to the receptionist area and sat on the worn out leather couch. He gripped the manuscript tighter to his chest. The conversation they had in the coffee shop yesterday was enlightening. He failed to stump Edogawa, but he provided valuable feedback. He was hopeful, that this time he will stump his editor, but felt his anxiety crawl up, as this novel might get published. The thought of his novel being read by millions upon millions of people frightened him, and he had to attend social functions which made his anxiety skyrocket.

“Excuse me, Poe-san,” A voice said.

Poe snapped out of his whirlpool of thought, his nerves haven’t calmed down, but he looked up to see a young boy with white hair and sunset colour eyes. He had a polite smile on his face. Poe nerves finally calmed down, as he tried to meet the boy’s eyes.

“Yes?”

“I’m Nakajima Atsushi, I’m an intern.”

Poe stood up and shook his hand.

“It’s nice to meet you.”

“Ranpo-san is out of town with Fukuzawa-san, he won’t be back till tomorrow.”

“Ah, I see.”

Poe felt his heart sunk, and sadness creeping onto him. Poe was about to walk away before Nakajima stopped him.

“I’ll be your editor until Ranpo-san comes back,” He mumbled.

“Oh, I see.”

There was an awkward silence between them, Nakajima was twitching on the spot before he spoke up.

“Um… follow me.”

Nakajima led Poe through the maze of desks. There was the sound of vigorous typing of keyboards, the whirring of printers and photocopiers. There was chatter everywhere, and shouting from across the room.

“Dazai get back to work!”

“Okay,” he replied as he waved his hand lazily at Kunikida.

“You are 3 minutes and 25 seconds overdue, we have an appointment in half an hour.” Kunikida scolded.

“You know if you keep stressing, all your hair will fall out,” Dazai said in a mocking tone.

Poe looked away from the commotion before he saw something ugly. He focused on following Nakajima. He felt anxious as he felt like he wasn't supposed to be here. He gripped the manuscript tighter. He took a few deep breaths and looked down at the floor. Nakajima suddenly stopped, he sat on a chair and looked up at Poe.

“Take a sit.” He insisted.

Poe took at sit across from him on the wooden chair. He placed the manuscript on the desk and Nakajima took it. He opened the envelope and slowly pulled it out, and started to read. The silence was suffocating for Poe. He never let anyone except Edogawa read his work and now a nice, polite intern is reading it? What if he thought it was bad? Was he thinking Edogawa was crazy for employing me? The background noise was growing fainter as Poe sank deeper into his whirlpool of thoughts.

“I can see why Ranpo-san talks highly of you.” Nakajima thought out loud.

When Poe heard those words, he felt some warmth on his chest and cheeks. His cheeks are dusted with pink that reached to the tips of his ears. He was thankful that his bangs covered his face, so the intern couldn’t see them. Nakajima placed the manuscript back into the envelope and placed it gently on the desk.

“I’m sorry if my advice isn’t good. Dazai-san thought it would be a good experience.” he smiled.

“No, it’s fine. I want to hear your thoughts.” Poe encouraged and mumbled softly.

Atsushi cleared this throat and gave out a big sigh of relief. Poe held his breath.

“The story is good, it’s engaging and the characters. I can sympathise for the characters and relate with them. You and Ranpo-san worked hard on this.”

Poe released his breath.

“Although,” he continued, “Smaller words could be used, so the readers can understand it better.” He mumbled.

Poe gave Nakajima a nod.

“I think I will leave Ranpo-san with the rest,” He said as he put the manuscript away in his drawer.

Poe had a question running through his mind throughout this conversation.

“Nakajima-san...:”

“Atsushi,” he corrected.

Poe took a deep breath.

“Atsushi-san, is it true what you said earlier that Edogawa talks highly of me?”

Atsushi cocked his head to the side in confusion.

“Yes, he talked about your stories give him chills and it brings his brain to the limit when solving your mysteries. And you are the best author he worked with.”

Poe felt his heart go ablaze. Edogawa talks about him, well his work, to other people. Poe had a smile painted on his face. Both of them said their goodbyes as Poe excused himself out of the office. Poe closed the door before he bumped into someone.

“Sorry. Are you okay?” Poe asked.

A woman with short black hair, she wore a golden butterfly pin. She gave a cold polite smile,

“I’m fine.”

She walked past Poe and opened the door to the editorial office. Poe looked behind in confusion.

“Who was that?” He whispered to himself.

He continued to walk down the empty hall before he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled his phone out of his jacket pocket, he was met with a surprise.

Edogawa Ranpo: Poe-kun we need to visit this cafe

Poe saw a picture of a small antique cafe, under the message. It had stained-glass windows and a chalkboard with white cursive writing, “Welcome!” and “15% off on all desserts” written on it. The strange thing was that when did Edogawa refer to him as Poe-kun?

Edogawa Ranpo: Tomorrow 1 pm?

Poe slipped his phone back into his pocket, and a huge smile was painted on his face. He was looking forward to tomorrow.
