#according to her facebook she got married #to the super controlling douchebag thats going into the army #NOW #according to my uncle. if youre in basic training (which he is) you cannot get married #the military does not let you do that #SO. shes possibly not actually married #unless theres been some kind of rule change since my uncle was in the army which is possible #either that. or hes not actually in basic training. which opens up a whole other can of worms #but as far as we are aware he is in basic training right now #and as far as we are aware they couldnt have actually gotten married if he is in basic training #which raises some questions #like girl what are you doing

im so glad that we never get a clear picture of sophie’s background in leverage & i hope we never do. however i also really like making up various, often conflicting backstories for her in my head. perhaps they’re all backstories for an alias of hers, ones she laid to rest back in season two.

#something to be said not just about how Ibrahim aims to replace his past family with his present bond with Süleiman (and Musti and Mahi #branch off of that bond) but also how Hatice fits in all of this - the one Ibrahim leans on everytime he's likely to lose SS is *her*#she isn't just the future he wants to secure in the castle but also the past he yearns for outside of it especially in that initial period #of their relationship; and not just any past but a very particular fragment of it - the next most valuable person of his past other than #his brother: his *mother*. it's no wonder him playing *his mother's* melodies with the violin marks the beginning of their story and stays #an important motif throughout. just like Ibrahim's mother Hatice is so familiar yet so out of reach (and this unreachability accumulates in #E13 - Ibrahim leaves for Parga thus returning to his past but leaving Hatice behind but *then* finding out his mother is gone too.#*both* people he wants to be close to soo much are *gone* in that moment. there's a link between them because of this. also Hatice tieing #lbrahim's mother to “heaven” as well and her “looking at their happiness from above” Ibro responds with in E14.) Hatice will distance #more and more from that role later on until lbrahim starts to outright abandon this whole 'return to the past' idea with Hatice and #search for it through Nigar instead. but yeah anyway I feel these two scenes are the perfect encapsulation of how complicated #the past is for lbrahim; he avoids remembering it because it *hurts* to remember both because why would he remember it when he already has #an established future and because deep down he resents what he's become and established as that isn't ever permanent and he's lost all else #*himself* most of all as who is a person without his roots? he wants to forget them but can't ever do it so what's left is replacing them #*all of them*; when he finds Hatice too he wants to have *both* her and Süleiman and SS marrying Hatice off directly challanges that want #up to that point he believed in the possibility of their love more than Hatice did; now? he seems as lost as she is not knowing what to do #the only way not to lose either of them is accepting Süleiman's order convincing himself that this is how it should be no matter how much #that hurts and would bury him even deeper; he can't bear it so he searches for a solution - and when he sees Rhodes sea? it hits him #it hits him how low he's actually sunk through the losses and if he can't “fully* replace the past he'll *fully* return to the past letting #*everything else* once hidden out as well. not to mention how right before he left to Parga he was brought to fear for his literal death #and then he is given more power that also brings some uncertainty with it and that likely scared him cementing his departure for Parga #directly following Piri Pasha's advice to let power go as it won't let *you* go #(btw a big contrast between S01 and S03 Ibrahim can be drawn in his relationship with Piri Pasha and his relationship with Ebusuud)#magnificent century #muhteşem yüzyıl #muhtesem yuzyil #ibrahim pasha #(sorry for the disorganized tags but if I kept it like it was I would've exceeded the limit before I even finished 😅)#(just Ibrahim and Hatice in general are people who latch onto each other to get over their losses and ache for peace amidst their turbulent #lives and positions and that's what keeps them close and will later too)

"Some modern historians, apparently fascinated by the fact that Matilda was eleven years older than her second husband, Geoffrey of Anjou, have been quick to assert that the marriage was unhappy. The historical basis for this assertion rests upon the word of the Durham chronicler, who stated that when Matilda returned to Henry I’s court in 1129 it was because Geoffrey had repudiated her. [Historians have thus assumed that their mutual incompatibility led to hostility and an eventual separation]. However, it must be noted that the northern chronicler was hardly in a position to have first-hand information about events across the Channel, and that he had the chronology of the affair completely wrong. The author placed Matilda’s marriage in 1129, and wrote that only a few days after King Henry returned to England on 13 July of that year, he was told that his daughter had been repudiated by her husband and had returned to Rouen with only a few attendants. The marriage actually took place in 1128, and Matilda was in Anjou with her husband in 1129 when the la Haye brothers brought a charter in favor of the abbey of Fontevraud to her for her confirmation. The other contemporary accounts of Matilda’s separation from her husband did not record her departure or suggest reasons for it, but only noted her return to Anjou in 1131.

It is possible that Matilda’s return to her father’s court in 1129 was not a marital separation at all, but rather a political mission. Perhaps Matilda and Geoffrey grew uneasy in their isolation and began to doubt the commitment of the Anglo-Norman barons to their cause. Leaving her husband behind to manage affairs in Anjou, Matilda may have travelled to Normandy seeking clarification of her position. A few scraps of evidence point in this direction. A letter that Hildebert of Lavardin wrote to Henry I in 1131 expressed pleasure that the king was now reconciled with the count of Anjou, who ‘had now fallen in with his wishes in everything concerning him and his daughter’. Henry of Huntingdon and Robert of Torigny stated that a ‘great council’ held at Northampton on 8 September 1131 decided that Matilda should be returned to her husband. The wording implies a decision made by the great men of the realm for political reasons, not a family’s success in persuading a tearful daughter to return to a husband whom she disliked. Furthermore, William of Malmesbury wrote that ‘no small gathering of the nobility being held at Northampton, the oath of fidelity to her was renewed by those who had already sworn and also taken by those who had not done so previously’. The renewal of the oath also suggests that Matilda’s mission may have been occasioned by concern over the succession rather than by the marital discord that historians have often taken for granted."

#empress matilda #geoffrey of anjou #my post #12th century #We don't and can't know the historical truth but this is an interesting alternate perspective for sure!#though it doesn't change the fact that Matilda does seem to have been coerced/forced/pushed into the marriage #and that fact in turn cannot be used to determine what they thought of each other or how they got along after they did marry #also both perspectives are not mutually exclusive - they could've become estranged AND she might have left to settle her succession #But ofc it's entirely possible that this alternate version may have been true #It does fit the claims of chronicles like Torigny who spoke of how there were tensions between Henry and Matilda & Geoffrey #before his death because he refused to surrender her dowry castles or pay homage to her as he should have #But ultimately however the marriage began they do seem to have formed more-or-less functional partnership #and were evidently mutually invested in their kids #so there's that #I really like alternate perspectives like this that make you question established historical narratives by scrutinizing the actual evidence #(also I had many many problems with this chapter and how it dismissed and downplayed gendered criticisms against Matilda #but that's another issue)

its kind of funny that sonic being some form of royalty is a concept thats used somewhat often in both official material and in fan content when it doesnt really fit his character all that well. imo it could only work if he was born into it and also doesnt really like it or want anything to do with it. he would never Choose that lifestyle
