You mimic the LU art style so well??? Holy crap?? Down to the sketchy style and soft linework-- thats impressive, genuinely. I also love your disney princess/Lu crossover work, its great.

I also noticed you've only done some LU work-- and none of the other fandoms you mentioned. Dont feel pressured to, but if you perhaps want to do fanart of Star Wars (maybe of Luke being silly, as hes always been a favorite of mine) or of something atla related?

sorry it took me so long! life has been crazy, as life usually is lol. my older sister and i were genuinely obsessed with star wars all throughout elementary and middle school (she would always pretend to be padme and i would always be ashoka and we had lots of fun playing pretend together 😁)

Love the energy of the new doctor who episodes, love Ncuti Gatwa's charisma and the show's willingness to take risks. That being said I'm a bit sad we don't seem to be getting the old character focus of the og RTD seasons. I really like Millie Gibson's performance but on a script level Ruby Sunday doesn't feel like a real person to me. What drives her, what are her flaws, what's her socioeconomic background and how does that inform her behaviour, what are the unlikable parts of her, what does she want most? What's her relationship to her mother like beyond aspirationally and non-specifically positive? How does she dress when she's just sitting around at home? What might she butt heads with the doctor about???

Some more advice for fellow adults: set your ego aside and let younger people (even kids!) educate and teach you. There is no shame in looking to a younger person for education and knowledge. It is, actually, a big facet of humanity that we teach each other - why, then, does that teacher need to be the Right Age in order for you to be willing to learn from them?

younger art— typical boyish indie/rock sleaze. i think he’d be into radiohead, the smiths, the strokes, elliot smith, pink floyd, gorillaz, etc. and secret britney spears enjoyer (patrick caught him listening to ‘gimme more’ on his blackberry one (1) time and never let him live it down). i think The Beatles and the Bee Gees would also be thrown into the mix pretty regularly.

older art— toned wayy down. much more melancholic songs when he’s working out or cooking or reading at home. i could see him listening to bon iver, sufjan stevens, etc. but he definitely listens to throwbacks from his earlier tennis career when he’s training on the courts. classic rock, alt rock, some pop. he’s become properly domesticated so his music taste has as well for the most part. i think he listens to “To Love Somebody” by the Bee Gees sometimes and cries (he thinks about tashi and his daughter).

i feel like he’d have pretty eclectic taste all around.

I've seen people say that Whit knowing so much about hanging must mean her mother must've hanged herself but like....that doesn't make a whole lot of sense right ?

You don't magically know the techniques of hanging and how to do it purely because someone close to you has done so.

Whit's knowledge, outside of the possibility that he's the timelooping mm, would then have to mean something else.....like maybe he considered doing it himself.

It's very dark but considering this cast's mental health it's something to consider.

my gravity falls oc<3

Annabeth was born to a wealthy family in the 1900s in the newly founded gravity falls, during her birthday she died in a freak accident due to their chandelier being improperly installed, falling and crushing 14 year old annabeth.

She haunted the forests of gravity falls for many years attempting various times to communicate with the townsfolk, unfortunately for Annabeth this always ended in screams of terror and ghost hunts.

All until a strange new man moved right into the thick of the woods and immediately began experimenting and exploring the paranormal side of gravity falls that everyone else never even dared to acknowledge, she watched him for a long time a stir of hope building up inside of her. He never feared the monsters he came across no matter how terrifying, the only thing she could ever read on his face was pure fascination 

She considered revealing herself for a long time, but all in all her fear of rejection was far greater than her need for a friend, at least she thought.

After a particularly dangerous mission, encountering a monster ford had not yet documented, he was rendered unconscious. After barely distracting the monster with a small rock slide she managed to bring him out of harm's way and back to the shack.

While trying her best tending to his wounds he suddenly woke up. She immediately froze, preparing for the worst. He would be terrified, he would think this was strange, he would try to capture and experiment on her. But instead, he only asked one question, his voice filled with pure excitement.

“Are you a ghost?”

She couldn’t speak for a moment, it was obvious wasn’t it? Ford was not a stupid man, she knew that. Why ask something so obvious? She realized her silence was growing more and more prolonged by the second, so with a shaking voice she managed to squeak out. “Yes”

Immediately, he starts rattling on and on about how extraordinary this was, a “passive ghost” as he called her. Yes of course he’d encountered the supernatural before, but never anything like this! 

He asked her a million questions, who she was before she died, the after life, what shed whiteness in her nearly a century being dead.

But as he talked she still couldn’t believe it, some part of her almost didn’t want to. It was too good to be true wasn’t it? 

Weeks turned into months and she kept visiting more often, he told her about life outside of gravity falls and gave her the education she was never offered as a young girl in her time. He invented gloves that allowed them to interact, her hair was long but she wouldn’t dare cut it so each night he would braid it. 

Things were good for a long time, Until he came.

thinking about love in danger days

this is part of my conspiracy theory that that album is aroallo, but i've always gotten the sense that romance and romantic attatchment is much less important to danger days than any other mcr record. with bullets&revenge it's quite obvious as the demolition lovers take up like, everything, and the black parade has a heavy focus on a romantic relationship as well. 

while i do think there are lines in it that are romantically coded, there is a definitive lack of emphasis on it- like it's nowhere in the plot at all. 

i do think danger days represents a very familial type of love though. while other albums visit a sense of "i want you, i need you, i miss you, i hate you,", this is more like…"i love you, i want to protect you, i'm sorry"

i find this especially strongly in s/c/a/r/e/c/r/o/w:

"Nevermind about the shape i'm in, I'll keep you safe tonight"

"love, love, love won't stop this bomb"

"run, run, bunny, run"

and other songs: 

"i'll find you when the sun goes black"

"just save yourself and i'll hold them back tonight"

"how long until we find our way in the dark and out of harm"

relevant things i can't cover with just quotes are planetary go, oft-theorized to be about party poison and kobra kid, as brothers, leaving battery city together; sing, about the killjoys' last message to the girl while saving her; goodnite dr. death, phrased as him saying goodnight to children; and summertime, which i can't discern the meaning of but seems more like a family type of love. 

i think it makes sense that danger days is like this, seeing as it features main characters that take care of a child main character as opposed to main characters that love other main characters of the same age/ability. 

another thing i noticed while re-listening to the more sentimental songs for this essay is that there's just a distinctly different vibe to it. So much of it is focused around wanting to protect people, keep them safe and out of danger (<- ha that's the name of the album) and loved. i think this also makes sense, because the killjoys live a very, well, dangerous life without much security, and they'd want to provide what they lack the most. another semi-related thing i noticed is just how much of an emphasis there is on childhood in this album. i feel like there's a vibe of youth or teen-hood throughout the earlier ones, but this is just VERY strongly about kids. again this makes sense cause not only are the killjoys teenagers (a type of kid!) they also have a proper little kid to watch. 

also, i wonder how much of this stuff was due to gerard becoming a parent. just something to think about
