If i see one more person spread “news” sourced to outlets like f1-insider… please actually pay attention to sources and use critical thought about where it came from. these accounts want their engagement numbers and will share information derived from a fucking reddit comment if they think it’ll earn them a few extra dollars. there’s always an off chance these bullshit tabloids are right, but they almost never are, and a legitimate source will come along if there’s any whisper of truth to it. i just beg of people to simply wait for sources with the slightest bit of credibility to their name before they start sharing information.

good evening I am thinking about the way scar and ren are foils in crime au. thinking about how ren and scar have been enemies for years (yet many moons ago they were friends once. they just… had different ideas for themselves).

thinking about how they both found victims of cults, yet the way they found them was so drastically different but so similar.

ren, upon seeing martyn enter his restaurant late at night and hesitant to leave, offers him a home. a purpose.

scar, upon being mugged by grian and seeing a bit of himself and mumbo reflected in him, also offers grian some kind of purpose (the home comes later).

they’re both so similar, in the way they’re both the head figures of their groups, in the way they treat their people.

and yet they go head to head for years.

we see ren be convinced that scar is a threat to the people of aqua town, we see him determined to get rid of scar, believing him to be the leader of a cult. we see ren with what he thinks are good intentions.

and — perhaps it’s perfect to equate their relationship to a game of chess.

dogwarts are the white pieces, because typical white black symbolism good vs evil. ren believes himself to be on the side of the light, the king, the white. martyn is his queen, or maybe his knight if you want to contrast scar who is “on the side of the dark”, the black pieces. he is the king, grian his knight along with mumbo.

they’re both trying to win this game, to be the one to steal the other’s “pawns” first.

their game comes down to one of a hero vs a villain. and ren (as well as martyn by extension) believes that they are the good guys. the heroes. he believes that by killing scar, or removing him from office, will save the people. will save grian (for martyn).

but he tries too hard. he tries so hard to be the hero (for martyn, for his brother, for dogwarts) that he inevitably becomes the villain.

ren is always the first to make a move against scar. the hitman. the book trap. without fail, when there is conflict with dogwarts, they are the first to move.

they’re only fighting because scar is simply responding to the moves that ren makes.

they play as each other’s foils so wonderfully. we see ren send scar an invite to a trap, one that scar willingly walks into. and yet, the first time we see scar make a move against dogwarts, it is not an attack. it is a request for help. it is a request to aid him destroy a common enemy.

it is one that ren and martyn assume to be a trap.

it is a parallel, a foil.

they are two sides of the same coin yet they are drastically different and oh so painfully similar.

ren has made himself out to be a villain, all while trying to play the hero.

scar has been painted as a villain, yet he is probably the closest one to a “hero”, whatever you define that as

god I can't get over how fucking amazing of a trailer the Arkham Trilogy had for the Nintendo Direct.

THE Arkham City revamped theme song, syncing in with the strikes and explosions in the background, with characters giving their lines in between, showing most of the Rouges Gallery, and that's not even mentioning how they, somehow by a miracle, got ALL 3 games to look actually really fucking good on switch!!!!!

Like Asylum and City, were somewhat a given, they were originally 360/PS3 and even City was on the Wii U, but considering this Miiiight be the Return to Arkham remasters and possibly not the OG 360/PS3 ports (which would be a bit unfortunate, the OG ports actually look better due to the team making their limits their advantage) which is a bit more demanding,

AND THEN, ARKHAM KNIGHT LOOKS GOOD !!!!! LIKE HOLY SHIT??!?? I know the gameplay footage isn't final, but a good amount of gameplay was show and none of it looked really choppy or too bad?? Seriously holy fucking shit this is astronomically batshit nuts

The studio behind this port is Turn Me Up studios, they were behind the switch ports of the Borderlands games, It Take Two, Brothers:A Tale of Two Sons, and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remakes. And what's SOOOO shocking above all,(as far we know) like seriously surprising, is that Knight isn't Cloud! Not a Cloud service game, it's native to switch. LIKE. HUH. HOW. THIS ISN'T IMPOSSIBLE BUT DAMN NEAR CLOSE YKNOW

god I'm so fucking excited to play this saga again! Plus look at this rad as fuck render for this port, it'll be great hopefully!!!
