everyone knows Junji Ito, for good reason. do you have any favorite horror manga authors who aren't him?

Yes omg! As much as I adore Junji Ito and he rightfully gets a lot of attention, I wish some lesser-known horror mangaka got more attention.

I'd say my favorite non-Junji Ito horror mangaka is Sachiko Uguisu! Her style is gorgeous and her stories are so fun and unique. I highly recommend Shibito no Koe wo Kiku ga Yoi ("You Will Hear The Voices of the Dead") as well as her oneshot manga.

I also really like Kanako Inuki. Unfortunately much of her work isn't available in English, but there's still quite a lot you can read. I like Presents and Wish Fulfillment a lot.

Ahh, does Matsuri Akino count? I think she does. She's the creator of the Petshop of Horror series and her art style is sooooo beautiful!

Just gonna go out on a limb here and say that I personally dislike the Transfem! Vil headcanons.

My main reasons being that I personally don't see it, and two people once harassed me and someone else over it

I personally don't like the headcanon bcus i feel like it gives into the idea that men can't like feminine things(makeup and fashion)/do jobs that have been more catered to women like modeling

Vil wears makeup and does acting/modeling, he's very famous for it too

Out of these statistics, I feel like it's more important for Vil to be male than female because it shows that men can do something that has been more stereotyped for women

Also, it was either Yana herself or his va, Hiroki Aiba, that stated in an interview (I'll add it once i find it-) that Vil wasn't really meant to be considered trans and is more coded to be androgynous coded

I've also seen people hc him as Transfem for the fact he uses アタシ(atashi) to address himself, whilst the pronoun is more used by females, it can be used by anyone regardless of gender

I once asked the one of two people that harassed me and someone else over the headcanon, why they headcanons it just to see it from their side, and I kid you not, one of them said that he was the stereotype for transfem people... Hunny, that is the lamest ass argument for a hc I've ever heard.

At least everyone else has a genuine reason like "he just gives me these vibes", "I kin Vil and I'm Transfem and I can't help but give my kids traits of myself" etc etc whatever the fuck they're reasoning is, I don't give an honest shit

But if the reasoning is that they're a stereotype for something, then that is more proof as to why you don't headcanon them as that.

I also told them that I personally didn't see it, and they responded with "you're obviously not transfem" like how does that have anything to do with it, and a trans fem that was on MY SIDE said that she didn't see him as a stereotype. Uuuggh people ISTG

So yeah- If you hc Vil as Transfem, good for you, just please don't harass me over it, we're all entitled to our own opinions and headcanons, and I just wanted to slightly vent/rant over an experience I had with two ppl that hc Vil as transfem
