By • Olalekan Fagbade "You're putting our lives at risks" Service Chiefs blame judiciary for granting suspected Terrorists bail The Service Chiefs on Tuesday in Abuja appeared before the House of Representatives at plenary on a sectoral debate for MDAs, recounting activities aimed at combating the surging insecurity challenges in the country. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those present included the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja; and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala. Others were the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun. In his submission, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Gen. Chris Musa, however, blamed the judiciary for releasing arrested Boko Haram suspects after being arrested by the military. “I have been in the Northeast; there were a lot of Boko Haram elements that have been captured. We have kept them for five/six years. We the armed forces can arrest but cannot prosecute. “Some of them have been found wanting, but no prosecution. “We are keeping them for this lengthy period, everyone is accusing the Armed forces in keeping them against their human rights, but we cannot prosecute. “Another aspect of the judiciary is that you use all your efforts to make an arrest, you hand them over, and before you enter your vehicle, the man has been released on bail. “Now you have risked yourself in doing that; by the time he is released, he goes to tell the people the person that arrested him. Now your family members or you are at risk,” Musa disclosed. He said it was getting to a state where the security forces would not want to make any effort. ”We have the issue in the South-South, the last ship that was arrested, was arrested 10 years ago; the ship went and changed its name, changed its colour and came back again. ”By the time they handed over the ship and before you know it, it is released,” according to him, stressing that this is an area that must be looked into. “We must have a special court to look into it. That is why we arrest and destroy them because the longer we keep them, it becomes a problem,” said the CDS. Musa said they often come under pressure to release them. He said that at the moment, about 140,000 terrorists have surrendered and are awaiting disarmament, assuring that there is no single territory currently being occupied by Boko Haram insurgents. Musa said the activities of Simon Ekpa, the Spokesperson of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) currently hiding in Finland, were doing a lot of damage to the Southeast region of the country. He alleged that Ekpa was being protected by Finland, adding that there is a need for the government to engage the government of Finland and possibly invite its ambassador to Nigeria. Musa said that while the military and other security agencies in the country were doing their very best to ensure that there is peace in the Southeast region, the comments and activities of Ekpa were sabotaging such efforts. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taureed Lagbaja, highlighted some of the challenges facing the Nigerian Army, which include funding, logistics, and manpower. On his part, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, said the major challenges facing the Nigerian Air Force in the conduct of air operations include the rising cost of aviation fuel. Others include delay in the release of funding, complexity in targeting, porous borders and manpower disposition. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, urged the House of Representatives to ensure adequate appropriations for the service to acquire resources to enable it to achieve its mandate. Ogalla said the resources were basically required in terms of fleet renewal, aircraft and support facilities. “The Navy is just about 30,000 for now. We are making efforts to expand the size of the navy and train them adequately to be able to meet its objectives.
“With adequate support, we should be able to tackle activities of oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal refineries, irrespective of the weather. “ The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, had earlier said they are focusing on security given the unprecedented challenges of the past decade. Abbas said that over the last few years, the country has made significant progress in tackling insecurity through improved investment by the federal government. He commended the gallantry and professionalism of servicemen and women, while saluting the courage of the armed forces and law enforcement personnel. The speaker emphasised that an appearance in person by all invited heads of MDAs was required throughout this sectoral briefing. He added that the House would not accept proxy representation for any reason whatsoever, adding that notices were sent well in advance to forestall any excuses. (NAN)

Obi won presidential election but INEC declared Tinubu winner – Ekpa tells UN
Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa on Thursday accused the Nigerian government of scuttling the election of Peter Obi at the February 25 presidential poll. Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, rejected the result and is now in court to challenge the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC. In a letter to the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, seen by DAILY POST, Ekpa berated Information Minister Lai Mohammed for “lying” about the elections. He said the official has been “junketing…telling lies and calling for a ban on all fund-raising activities of the indigenous people of Biafra with threats of sanctions”. “Little did he say to the world, Mr. Peter Obi of the LP won the presidential election and the government and its subservient electoral body declared the ruling APC candidate (Tinubu), winner”. Ekpa noted that even the UN has admitted the general elections “revealed ethnic, religious, demographic fault lines in Nigeria”. The position, according to him, somehow captures the situation of Nigeria that needs urgent redress through a referendum. Ekpa said when Obi’s running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, cited election irregularities, Mohammed “through his broadcasting commission slammed a N5 million fine on the television station”. On the election in Lagos State, the secessionist said Obi defeated Tinubu, despite the disenfranchisement of “Biafra people”. “State-sponsored political thugs went on a rampage, burning down the markets where the Biafra people are dominant and their businesses. “Another Market was burned in Maiduguri (capital of Borno) where Eastern (Biafra) people do their businesses. “Almost all big markets have been burned down by a combination of government security agencies and the terrorist Fulani herdsmen conducting economic jihad.” Ekpa told the UN that killings are still going on while the burning of homes, markets and churches is being perpetrated by government-sponsored terrorists and arsonists in state uniforms. On Eastern Security Network, ESN, he said the group made up of volunteer indigenous youths, was formed against “state-sponsored terrorists’ herdsmen and their accomplices in the military”. "We have no hand in the Video where Insurgents Slaughtered you"---IPOB replies Army

"We have no hand in the Video where Insurgents Slaughtered you"---IPOB replies Army
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The Nigerian Army has described a trending video purporting that Boko Haram terrorists captured and killed several troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East, as false and the handiwork of members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB. It said the video is aimed at discrediting the Army and sowing seeds of discord among troops of South East extraction in the Nigerian Army.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
This is contained in a statement signed by Col Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations titled, “Video Clip Portraying The Alleged Capture and Killing of Some Nigerian Soldiers By Boko Haram Terrorists on 10 December 2019 is False”. It read: “The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a viral, unsubstantiated and apparently fabricated video clip circulating on the social media portraying the stage-managed/so-called capture and killing of some Nigerian soldiers by Boko Haram terrorists on the 10th of December 2019.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“The Nigerian Army wishes to emphatically state that there was no incident that involved the “capture and killing of tens and tens of Nigerian soldiers on the 10th of December 2019” as mischievously and wickedly portrayed in the video. “Similarly, preliminary observation of the video clip (even by the amateur) will reveal that the video was doctored and that the entire events captured in the footage was not an occurrence that took place at any point in time within the shores of Nigeria.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
”To this end, the Nigerian Army is hereby calling on the members of the general public and indeed personnel of the Nigerian Army especially those in the North East theatre of operation to disregard the sinister, very inciting and divisive video concocted and peddled by the outlawed IPOB members whose main objective is the disunity and fragmentation of Nigeria as clearly shown or espoused in the video.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“Accordingly, the call by one Simon Ekpa, (the principal actor in the clip), calling on soldiers of South East extraction presently serving in the North East to desert the Army and return to Biafra as well as calling on South Easterners not to join the Nigerian Army is an obvious indication of the essence and objective of the masterminds of this fake video which should be discountenanced by the public.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“Meanwhile the leadership of the Nigerian Army wish to also reiterate its unflinching commitment to sustain the war against terrorism and shall not be deterred by the evil machinations or propagandist activities of mischievous persons whose main interest is the disunity of our beloved nation.” We have no hand in the video where insurgents slaughtered you – IPOB.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
But responding to the allegation by the military, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, denied the claim that it doctored and circulated recent video where member of the Boko Haram killed several Nigerian soldiers, describing the claim as laughable. IPOB said it was a shame for the Army to involve the group in their futile attempt impotence and failed effort to fight Boko Haram.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Reacting to the allegation, IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful berated the Army, saying they belittled themselves by involving IPOB in the issue of doctoring a video. Powerful said that IPOB have more important things to do than engaging in doctoring a video where soldiers were killed. “This recent statement from the thoroughly disgraceful, undignified institution called Nigerian military accusing IPOB of being behind the recent trending video where Boko Haram members torturing and humiliating Nigerian army personnel is laughable. “This unguarded, shameful and thoroughly unsubstantiated accusation is very typical of an army that specializes in attacking civilian populations in the south but cringe at the sight of a well-armed opposition in the north.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“It is quite pathetic how the Nigeria army would belittle themselves so shamelessly in the eyes of the world by involving IPOB in their futile attempt to deflect attention from their impotence and failed effort to fight a terrorism menace they themselves created in Nigeria. The Nigerian Army must understand that Biafra is not Nigeria. “IPOB have more important things to do than engaging in doctoring a video that is so clear for all to see. Maybe Nigerian the Army think the world is as undiscerning as their typical Nigerian. Rather than coming out in public to make a complete fool of themselves; Buratai and his Nigerian Army should invite forensic experts to corroborate their claim if they are confident they are speaking the truth.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“The video of Boko Haram torturing and humiliating the cowardly Nigerian Army that specializes in committing crimes against unarmed populations in Biafra is real and verifiable. IPOB has nothing to do with the trending video and cannot involve itself with this brotherly spat between Boko Haram and Nigeria Army because they have the same Fulanisation agenda for Nigeria. “Nigeria Army and Boko Haram are both terrorist organisations pursuing the same goal with the only difference being that Nigerian army specialise exclusively, in attacking civilians in the east.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“This shameful statement from Nigeria Army proves that the Nigeria Army and her sisters security outfits in Nigeria have lost control of their phony war against Boko Haram and as usual are looking to blame IPOB for their pitiful plight. “Northern elders (allegedly) formed and sponsored Boko Haram to perfect their plans to islamize and Fulanize Nigeria and to make Jonathan’s government ungovernable which they succeeded in doing. We must not forget that Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was named the chief negotiator by Boko Haram for the failed talks in Saudi Arabia in 2014.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“Nigeria soldiers should leave IPOB alone and focus on fighting the monster they created. “We pity Nigeria Army and gullible Nigerians who cannot see the inevitable violent collapse of Nigeria. What is happening today in Nigeria is the worst form of organized state-sponsored hypocrisy. Recruiting Boko Haram members and other terror groups into the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS and other security formations in Nigeria is a recipe for disaster which IPOB is rightly sensitizing the world about. “Nigeria is imploding gradually and no amount of lies against IPOB will avert the impending doom of the failed British contraption”, Powerful said.

Simon Ekpa writes to UN, says Muslim ticket forced on Nigeria, Boko Haram, ISWAP state-sponsored
Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa has stated that “powers that be” in Nigeria have refused to create a level playground for all citizens. In a memo dated April 13 to the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, Ekpa said forces were trampling upon others and calling the shots at will. “They have also violated the principle of secular state status by allowing (a) Muslim-Muslim ticket”, the letter seen by DAILY POST reads. Ekpa stated that the people of Biafra were determined to exit Nigeria, lamenting how “innocent Biafra youths are rounded up and jailed without trial”. He said some are extrajudicially killed, though “no terrorist Fulani herdsman, Boko Haram, ISWAP, terrorists is in jail because they are being sponsored by the State”. Ekpa alleged that terrorists arrested during the President Goodluck Jonathan administration have been released and “rewarded with job positions in the Nigeria military”. The secessionist told the UN that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, was extradited from Kenya to Nigeria in 2021. Kanu, accused of treason by the Nigerian government, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, since his repatriation. But Ekpa said the court discharged the case, with the UN working group on arbitrary detention requesting his freedom within six months. “The 6 months ultimatum expired in February 2023, yet the jihadist, terrorist, and democratic-dictatorial government of Buhari and APC refused to release him.” Ekpa accused Information Minister Lai Mohammed of “bribing, censoring, and terrorizing media houses in Nigeria never to report the atrocities going on”. He said the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, wants UNGA to prevail on the authorities to grant an unconditional release of Kanu and “all Biafrans held captive”. The former Radio Biafra anchorman equally demands the conduct of a peaceful democratic referendum “to enable a peaceful and bloodless exit of Biafra”. The letter noted Biafra people have demonstrated their willingness to leave “through various sit at home civil disobedience for the past two years”. “The every Monday sit at home civil disobedience has lasted for two years uninterrupted,” said the Finland-based agitator arrested in February. Ekpa further referred to the March 2018 controversial comment by Army chief, Lt. Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, who accused the military of colluding with jihadists. “The army is in cooperation with these jihadists, the armed forces are not neutral, hence all should raise and defend yourselves,” Danujam said at an event.
