SCU!sonadow first date idea?

Oooh! Okay! This is a concept that I’ve had for a while. I wish that I’ve had the time between school and my thesis work to write the short story down. Maybe some day when I’m on a break I can write the full story.

I feel that a first date between Sonic Wachowski and Shadow would be something relaxing. Something that’s not too adrenaline-rushing. The boys definitely need some R&R after their last adventure. That, and Sonic Wachowski would want to do something relaxing with our lovable anti-hero after the earth-shattering events that he went through.

Sonic tells his family that he’s gonna pack a bag of snacks and bring Shadow to the Smokey’s to see the fireflies in the late spring. He’s heard from Shadow in passing that he’s never seen them before due to living in the bunker. Sonic would want to take him to see them. Maddie helps him out with getting their trip organized; Tails, Knuckles, and Tom sit in the living room staring at Shadow while giving him the stink eye (if you’re southern, you know that look). As soon as they’re packed, then the boys leave for the mountains with some light competitive racing.

Sonic doesn’t tell Shadow that they’re going to see the fireflies. He tells him that they’re going to go scoping through the mountains for some sightseeing and a surprise. This is quickly followed with, “IN THE DARK?!” from Shadow.

The boys eventually stop hiking through the forest and settle down for a bit. Sonic is still avoiding questions that Shadow asks and tells him to wait for the surprise. They sit for a while, eat some snacks, catch up since Shadow hops around from one place to the next. And the whole time they’re talking, Sonic gets nervous that the fireflies won’t show up.

Finally, Shadow asks again why they’re waiting for the surprise. Sonic explains that the surprise was to show him the fireflies in the mountains, but fears that’s they didn’t arrive to the location on time to see them emerge. Shadow, feeling bad for pestering so much, resets his wrist watch from under his cuffling to show him to never trust the time on Sonic’s cellphone and that analog wrist watches are superior. Essentially, Shadow fixes his watch for it to be an hour earlier than expected so that they don’t have to go back to Montana due to a “failed” firefly sighting.

After seeing the fireflies, eating snacks, and sharing stories with each other, the two return home to Green Hills. Shadow leaves to where ever his next destination, but holds back a bit to hear the quick conversation between Maddie and Sonic. Maddie makes a remark about how the two must’ve had fun due to coming home so late, which leaves Sonic confused due to thinking that he got the time wrong in the Smokey’s. Sonic then comes to the realization that Shadow changed the time on his wrist watch in order to spend time with him.

And before Sonic can say anything, he sees Shadow walking away and waiving his goodbyes to the family.

[Maddie, Knuckles, and Tails walk into Stone's café]. Maddie: Hey, what’s with that sign? Are you really forming a basketball team? Stone: Yep. Apparently, the local businesses in the block do this annually to raise funds, so I thought it’d be nice to join in. Maddie: That’s wonderful, Stone. Can kids join? Stone: Of course! Though Tails is too young. I'm sorry, little one. Tails: That’s okay. I was going to be busy having fun making estimations in my head and seeing if the results match reality. Knuckles: Seriously, fox, the more books you read, the weirder you talk… Anyways, I’m signing up! [Stone hands them a clipboard and a pen. Shadow arrives with a tray of used dishes and glasses and starts washing them]. Maddie: Shadow, sweetie, are you signing up for the basketball team too? Shadow: No, thank you. Stone: He has fun like Tails, I won't make him. [Sonic and Tom walk in]. Sonic: Hey, Stone, what’s that sign outside about? Knuckles: The goat-milker is doing some social good by forming his own basketball team to compete with the other businesses, and I’ll be on his squad! Sonic: I want in too! Can I join?? Stone: If your parents are okay with it. Tom: No problem on our part, buddy. Sonic [takes the pen and writes his name]: Are you signing up, Shadow? Stone: Oh, no, he doesn’t-- Shadow [dashes over]: Yes, I am, I’m signing up. Knuckles: But you said-- Shadow: That I was signing up. [takes the pen Sonic hands him and writes his name]: Here. See? Knuckles: Now, reading the sheet I see it’s true, you're signed up. Guess I was wrong. [Maddie and Stone exchange a look]. Sonic: Cool. See you on the court. Knuckles: Wait, are we going to be tried??? [The family leave to a table. Shadow tugs on Stone’s sleeve as soon as they're gone]. Shadow: Can you teach me how to play basketball, please?

Movie sonadow headcanons? Please?

You’re always welcome to have some SCU!Sonadow headcanons from me!

The Wachowski family is mildly supportive of Sonic when it comes to relationships. That, and it wasn’t much of a surprise to them either. When Sonic approached his parents on the topic, Tom and Maddie him a tight hug and told him that they loved him no matter what.

Tom and Maddie do, however, set strict rules with Shadow. Very strict rules (protective parents). Shadow does his best to respect their wishes.

Sonic likes to take Shadow on small excursion when the two are up for it. And by “small excursions,” it’s usually traveling around the United States at high speeds to look at national parks.

Shadow purrs in his sleep if his ears are rubbed. This was an accidental discovery made by Sonic and Maddie when they found him asleep on the couch. Sonic rubs his ears if it looks like Shadow is having a nightmare.

Shadow sneaks in through Sonic’s window at night and crawls into bed with him to sleep. Sonic pretends to not notice when this happens and smiles to himself. Sonic has learned that this is a comfort thing that Shadow does when he needs it. If he questions it, then Shadow refuses to return until a week or two later.

Sonic likes to r play the guitar for Shadow on slow days. Shadow likes to quietly listen and hum if he knows the song. In return, Shadow reads to Sonic.

Shadow enjoys listening to the rain on the roof. It’s calming to the mind and it helps him relax. He doesn’t like thunder. It makes his blood run cold. If it’s thundering, Sonic cracks open the window from the roof and crawls over to his side with an umbrella.

Sonic and Shadow (mostly Shadow) like to spend hours looking through old vinyl records in music shops. Shadow is very knowledgeable in music between the fifties and early seventies. Sonic got Shadow addicted to Green Day.

Sonic was able to salvage a couple of items from the bunker that Shadow lived in after it collapsed. He recovered a few photos, some clothes, a plush spider (Shadow loves to study spiders and had many books on them), and a couple of files about Project: Shadow. He’s given them for Shadow to view and bury in the mountains to let go of the past.

Sonic and Shadow like to walk around and explore in the forest. Shadow hadn’t spent much time in the forest before due to his past, but Sonic has made it his personal mission to take Shadow to explore places that he’s only heard of. Exploring new places with Sonic usually includes Sonic bringing him random things in his hands to admire, climbing trees and eating snacks, poking things with sticks, chasing after bugs and animals to hold, and the occasional “what’s this?” and takes pictures to share with the family group chat. Shadow occasionally collects things from the forest that look cool to him.

When Sonic and Shadow go super, they leave a trail of flowers behind them on earth.

Sonic and Shadow are not ones for showing physical affection with one another publicly. If they do, they hold pinkies rather than hands. The act is meant to hold a deep meaning to the two: it’s a promise to one another. It’s a promise to be open to new possibilities, as well as be truthful to themselves. When they do link pinkies together, they mutter “always” before they proceed to their destination. (Always is in reference to their conversation on the moon).

The kind of relationship that Sonic and Shadow found at the end of the movie is exactly what I was hoping for. Can't top that.

Shadow: How would you ask out a guy who'd helped turn you away from a self-destructive path and give you a reason to keep on going through the grief of losing your family? Sonic: I don't know - that sounds like a pretty impressive guy. You'd probably have to save his life or something.
