oooh, ok if you insist!! her name is Selenite and she's a shard of my WoL/RP OC Odette!

Selenite, or Nite to friends, is a fortune teller (using bones) and perpetually tired young woman! She specializes in death omens but is happy to peer into the future for most questions! There is always a wait list to see her and she makes an effort to lessen people's fear of death. She chose to remove her regulator following the loss of someone important -- not that she can recall them, only in the vaguest of ways. On the very fringes of a few groups like Oblivion, supportive of their mission(s) but unwilling to commit fully. Her eyes were not compatible with living in S9 and so she had them altered -- this part is pretty self indulgent because... cool eyes are cool! Incredibly chill, pro-bit, maker of questionable choices. Almost always has a coffee or energy drink (the ones that make you gay) nearby. Quick to make friends, quick to make space for people.

Manx's connections means she gets access to some very special, very interesting inventions. The kind reserved for… mmm… intimate usage, shall we say?

She'll also use them in public.

With the connections that she lavishly maintains, she can also get you basically anything you want.

You'll be showered in gifts when the mood strikes her or when the relationship is fresh.

Cons:

Do you like living the high life? She does, and if you can't deliver, she won't stick around.

Manx's connections means she often has little time to spare; she's got a lot of schmoozing to do in order to keep those connections strong.

She'll do a lot of things in public, and not necessarily just with you.

With the connections she lavishly maintains, her time is not just yours to command. She'll be out and about a good half the time if not more.

You'll be showered in attention and gifts when the relationship is fresh; you'll have to work to keep her focus after that.

Extra Details:

She's not interested in life outside of Solution Nine. Dirt is not glamorous. Dirt is gritty and smells weird. She prefers smooth electrope. Manx is genuinely more focused on keeping friendships than she is romantic or sexual relationships. After all, she can always find someone else to fill her bed. Yes, she deals in souls. No, she finds nothing wrong with it. It's just energy, why would you care about losing energy? Manx isn't interested in dismantling the power structure. It serves her too well, why would she ever want to unplug Solution Nine? She is not sympathetic to Oblivion; she thinks they're rather stupid. She absolutely loves to have a good time and will show you the best that Solution Nine has to offer. If you stick around long enough to become a friend, she'll even customize your air-wheeler!

Sexually: Pansexual switch with a penchant for public indecency, toys, and a lot of making out in alleyways. She likes to have fun--light-hearted and no-strings-attached--and likes it when everyone around her feels good.

Romantically: Difficult at best. She's never died, you see, and so Manx's charmed life means she takes people for granted. Her father's death basically doesn't exist to her or her mother, thanks to their regulators, and when you can't grieve someone, well…

When Obsidian learned that Selenite had never set eyes upon the moon, they delved into their memory banks to recall images of this celestial body. Once the opportunity arose, the machine took their beloved companion into the wilderness beyond their pristine existence ⸺ the only existence Selenite had ever known. They rode on and on, until the lightning receded into starlight. There, in the darkest reaches of the sky, a miracle waited.

Wishing you a very good and abundant Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, my friends. For many cultures around the world, this is the time we observe the beautiful full moon and give thanks for a bountiful harvest.

For me, the year's bounty can be found in the friends who've embraced me into their lives ⸺ and the new faces I've gotten to know in 2024. They have helped me in my forever-journey for better mental health, whether they know this or not.

Let's go into the new season replenished.

More OC Facts

Piper: She actually came to Wu on her own having trekked up the mountain as an exercise. She didn't even know the monastery was there (she wasn't much one to pay attention in class lmao). Though she does feel the occasional lack of confidence for not having elemental powers.

Jetta: Being the eccentric she is she officially meets Kai after he set off one of her booby traps (to ward off any intruders) and has to learn to be more considerate of others that aren't Skylor. She also changes her hairstyle due to Rumi (yeah no not gonna be guilty by same hairstyle lol). Jetta also finds out Kai has feelings for her and like, she's legit confused but not stupid about it either.

Rhea: She met the Ninja when they visited Cole's old music school. She had no interest in joining the ninja but supports them however she could. She moved to Ninjago City after graduating but couldn't find a dancing job and had to work at the dojo. Ironically she did act as a decoy during s9 and was the most empathetic to Harumi's situation even after the evil reveal.

Odette: She was orphaned and spent much of her life homeless until one night she tried stealing from the SoG. They caught her an made her work for them, and due to some superficial similarities with Rumi was made her decoy/spy. She tried to make up for her actions by saving Lloyd and Baby Wu from the Colossi, ending up transported to First Realm. So S9 is spent with her and the core four as she works on earning back their trust, as well as saving the last nest of dragon eggs. S11 and 12 are dedicated to her making amends to the people of Ninjago which isn't easy considering her guilt by association but she learns that just because she isn't forgiven easily doesn't make her unworthy of redemption.

Piper: First kunoichi, instead of elemental power she is very attuned to chi, earning supernatural abilities. Her goal is become a sensei, just like her teacher. She and Cole were childhood friends, only recently reunited after meeting Wu. Piper has fuchsia hair and wears a purple suit. She has no romantic interests.

Rhea: Not a ninja but a civilian, a ballet dancer to be specific. She wishes to travel around the world but it stuck working for Dareth lol. Becomes close friends with Cole, culminating in a romantic relationship in s12. She has black curly hair in a bun and wears light pink and creams.

Jetta: A friend of Cole and the maternal cousin of Skylor. She was introduced in s4 having tagged along to support her cousin during the Tournament. She's thr curious eccentric type who practices magical alchemy and helped defeat the cultists. S5, 6 and 7 focuses on her becoming the Yellow Ninja. She is Kai's love interest but they don't become official until s10. She has long blonde hair and wears yellow and light orange.

Odette: Introduced in s8 she was a homeless orphan who got caught up in the SoG and forced to work for them. Acting as Rumi's decoy her job was to infiltrate the ninja. However, Odette comes to genuinely like them and develops a crush on Lloyd and tries to sabotage her boss's plans the best she could. The following seasons focuses on her redemption arc. She has wavy dark brown hair and wears black and pink.

Empress Leiko: The distant cousin of the emperor who inherited the throne following s10. She hires Piper and Jetta to serve as her advisors/mercs as the new goal of the royal family is to take more active roles in protecting Ninjago. She has ebony hair & wears a blue kimono as part of her attempts to distant herself from traditional protocol.

been playing around with her! I think I like these eyes, which means I am leaning into her having replaced her Special Eyes with something less migraine and nausea inducing!

I like this hair, also, though the front clips pretty heavily into her face so I'm not sure it'll stay but for now it is very cute. I also like this makeup though I may toy with making eyebags and more of a 'yesterday's makeup' look.

She also has a.... tattoo?? of sorts. IDK what to call it. Not pictured, you'll have to trust me. Also got nine-ish outfits set up for her.

9!Odette...........obviously....... I don't have much, BUT: What I do know is that she's a fortune teller who specializes in death omens. I imagine in a place like Alexandria it's nice to know when Death approaches. You know, to stock up on souls. Idk! I just like that there is a fortune teller in S9. The NPC is reading cards but Selenite will be casting bones. I don't think this is her final look but it's all vanilla and very cute. The vanguard healer/caster shoes are heelies and she's def rocking them btw. She's thrown herself off the stairs more times than she can count and yet... She doesn't wear a regulator for [reasons] and I think she's an informant of some sort for Oblivion. Not a full blown member or anything, but certainly on the fringes. Maybe romantically linked with a member but quiet-like. She's conflicted about her work. I also know she's connected with @iron-sparrow's reflection, of course of course of course! Hires them to be security for her storefront, sometimes draws eyebrows on their faceplate (helpful), soulmate stuff.

She's still tumbling, you understand! So all of this is subject to change but I'm having fun. Big, big, big thanks to @archaiclumina for the all the links and help with looking at cool rocks!

Friend, I know you did not reblog the 22 Dawntrail ask game! So I would like to humbly request more Selenite lore in the near future. Also, what do you think Odette and Selenite would think of each other?

(Teehee after they sent this I DID reblog the dawntrail ask game mentioned. Like a scamp.)

Man, Selenite is still so new she is truly just rolling right along in the rock tumbler! So while I have some ideas many of them are subject to change. Since her first appearance here I’ve already made some changes to her looks and more will probably come! And since S9 as a whole is still so new with limited lore I imagine bits and pieces of her will change as we play more of this expansion. Such is the life of an RP character, tbh, especially an AU version of an RP character!

I have another ask for how Selenite’s readings work, so I’ll save her work for that one.

Anyway:

Her full name is Selenite, friends call her Nite. Does she have a surname??? Probably. Not that you need to know it. 

She doesn’t wear a regulator anymore. Like many of her fellow citizens, Selenite wore a regulator from a young age. It wasn’t until the loss of her parent and the gnawing feeling of missing someone important -- and a few frank conversations -- that she removed it. She’ll never get the memories of her parent back but she hopes to honor them by feeling any fresh grief. 

Selenite’s parent was probably None’s S9 shard. Details pending. 

Unlike Odette, Nite is 100% alive! Wow! A normal heartbeat and body temperature!

She’s def had some augmentations done! Probably out of boredom. I imagine boredom is a big problem in S9.

The one I’m 100% sold on is her hair not being…. Fully hair anymore. To emulate Odette’s hair’s iridescent sheen, Selenite has fiber optic lights woven throughout that emit a low glow. Practical? No. Cool? Very. 

Also since I keep trimming Odette’s hair I think Selenite gets to have the long fantasy hair. You understand. 

The other one is her eyes. Odette can see souls/ghosts/spirits out of one eye and I think Nite could as well (this is from their shared ancient) but maybe had her eyes removed in favor of optics upgrades. IDK!! I just think…. Cool eyes. You underSTAND!!!

I hesitate about these only because she doesn’t wear a regulator and I feel like they are def tied to regulator usage, but this is why she’s in the rock tumbler. Maybe she got them before she took off the regulator and they still work just maybe… not as well. Much to think about!!

Nite makes a lot of her choices based on Boredom. It's not her greatest trait!!! but it's fine.

She sleeps a lot -- almost like she’s sleeping for two. Always tired. As a result, she’s always got an energy drink in her hand and she’s usually looking for additional stimulants. 

Personality wise she is just so chill. She’s too tired to be worked up, man. 

Another reason she’s on the very fringes of a lot of groups like Oblivian, she doesn’t have the passion to join something like that fully but she supports in ways she can. Like convincing people death isn’t that bad, isn’t that scary. 

Chill but also prone to pranks and jokes. Big fan of teeheeheeing over here. She loves a bit.

She’s only left S9 twice and nearly died both times, without her regulator, so she does NOT leave the city anymore. For all her talk about death not being scary it is very much very scary but that’s okay, she just doesn’t talk about those trips. No worries, haha!

I do not think she and Odette will ever meet. Maybe in the background of each other's shots or something, so to speak. That said I do love a what if!!!

I think they'd get along great. I think they'd fit together so well they were long lost twins. Not without hurdles, of course. Nite is freaked out by the ashkin thing, Odette is freaked out by Nite's freak out because are you serious? Mostly I think it's a lot of bickering. They'd change each other for good.
