ok deltarune 3 + 4 thoughts while i sift through my screenshots (HUGE SPOILERS DONT LOOK IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED IT YET)

disclaimer i have not fought either of the secret bosses and i know nothing about them other than a vague idea of how to get to them. so that might influence my thoughts n opinions.

quality wise i was a little worried at first w chapter 3 i know the linearity and repetition was sort of Part of the Point but idk next to the cyber world it just felt a little small scalewise. but i think it definetely picked up! i will say that i think having the secret boss locked behind a series of minigames you have to do almost perfectly the first time (assuming youre not willing to go back to your save before you did ALL of that) i think is a major design flaw. unless im missing something? it was really frustrating to get an s tier in round 2 and be under the impression from talking to ramb that i had unlocked the secret boss and then learning that i also had to get an s rank in round 1. but oh well from what i saw whatevers going on in that room is pretty interesting! also there MIGHT be a way to get that without having to actually perform well in the games from what i saw googling around at the time but im not extremely sure.

chapter 4 is definitely my preferred of the two (i think my overall current standpoint is (4>2>1>3) it was just. so fucking good. ugh. i have alot less to say about it because i dont know. its just good. its peam. what else to say. i think as a ralsei enjoyer this is definetely the chapter for me . AND THE HOLIDAY HOUSE BIT??? i almost forgot the light world segment was the same chapter UGUUUUH IT WAS ALL SO GOOD...

ok lets talk characters. i think objectively the most standout NEW GUY JUST DROPPED guy was tenna. i did not want to like him at first but . he is very charming to me . very cutes my grown man with abandoment issues aww awww. not my favorite deltarune character but he was very good nonetheless. here are some of my favorite tenna sprites.

before i go onto more serious cahracter discussions i also want to bring up rouxls (i always forget how to spell it despite liking this fuck ass game for 7 years). because like. what? what? what? what? what the fuck? what? whata re you doing what? what? huh? youre polyamorous now? youre polyamorous for clout? youre polyamorous for clout. i was so shocked during most of his interactions with lanino and elnina (whoi also like btw) that i forgot to take screenshots. genuinely baffling. i have these though

ok serious preexisting character talk bc i dont have alot to say about the other major new character that was introduced besides the very obvious.

maybe i am just biased because i like him but i think most people will agree these chapters were EXTREMELY ralsei focused. it brought to forefront alot of ralseis previously identifiable self worth issues that intertwined with his supposed role as a darkner - THE darkner - and really fuckin. grilled em. really good. i really like how in alot of situations susie, newly developed as a character from the last chapters, is the one who pushes this character development forward. like. idk. someone who didnt allow herself to have meaningful connections with others and did everything she could to be 'selfish' until very recently and someone who only thinks of themselves as their worth to other people learning that their emotions and wants mean something. yeah. yeahhh. i know its a bit of a necessity with the whole silent protagonist deal but i still like seeing the ways in which they mirror eachother... i think his new portraits really leant to his new development alot as well too. my favies. harrowing. i love him.

the next most prominent main character in these chapters is definetely kris. i loved seeing the vessel thing be alot more overt with an entire playable segment of the game revolving around you controlling the soul while kris fucks off and does their own thing. interestingly this isnt like the main thing i keep thinking abt with kris in these chapters its like. the quiz segments with tenna. i think its so interesting that you can play as kris getting basic questions about their own life ilke "what is kris' favorite food?" wrong. ugh. idk. i also really liked the scene where youre in the closet in dess' room and kris is trying 2 stop u from making any noise. just watching what phrases makes them react ... the little blush when susie says theyre good at flirting... teheeeee . ALSO THE PIANO THE PIANO THE PIANO THE PIANO i dont know how to word it but THE PIANO. THE PIANO. ok heres my kris images.

the knight has the holiday horns. kris calls the mysterious voice on their phone that was talking about the fountains and codes and she shows up. "YOU". like. thats carol. also no idea why the gaster stigmata are there but tahts neat.

hmmm usually a tossup between crosshair and fives, though I think fives is easier to talk about in terms of him being my fave because saying crosshair is my fave comes with like a mile long preamble about my interpretation of him and his character arc because there are just so many interpretations of him and so many theory camps that hate each other and etc so yknow what today fives is my favourite.

there's something about his drive that's really compelling to me in his last arc. I love characters who are angry just. so so much. I like it enough when a hero does things on moral principle, the lofty "It's the right thing to do!" -type stuff, but i absolutely go buckwild when a person is a hero because they've got skin in the game. when they fight because they care just so so much about the people close to them and they're just more willing to scrape through bloody and bruised because of it. it feels very grounded to me, and very human.

as for echo, i 100% agree he's great. it's actually a bit of a surprise that it wasn't him who turned out to be my favourite character from tbb or whatever; my friends were kind of betting on me liking THE tragic cyborg character but alas i feel like he got sidelined as fuck in tbb to the point that i didn't really get a sense of his character. like can they please use him for something. please. and get some melanin in him goddamn

i loved him and fives as a duo, and i also loved both of them on their own. i love the concept of echo as the last remnant of the brothers he left behind and how that weighs on him, and what that might mean in his motivation to work with rex saving clones from the empire. and i'd love it if we actually SAW SOME OF THAT ONSCREEN im gritting my teeth so hard echo has potential to be an s tier fave as well if ONLY he got the same sort of attention fives got for his final arc to i dont know TELL US SOMETHING IMPORTANT ABOUT HIS CHARACTER like i feel like tbb really lacks in this way i mean we got what omega's heart to heart with tech and some stuff with crosshair and ...? sorry this just became a rant on tbb My Bad. the howzer rescue scene should have been a whole episode with just echo and that squad. whatever.

People take a quick glance of the art on display, take pics and then just walk past.

They fail to truly Behold the art before them. in the past it wasn't so, and I can tell from how much the Muna Lisa is appreciated marely because of how the artist rendered the expression on fer face.

People are still interested in the story behind the painting because they truly appreciated it, paying attention to the colour, technique and all the little details .

Modern artists could create paintings hold as much depth but it would not be appreciated s much because people wouldn't take the time to actually analyze the details.

The modern world moves too quickly and it could become a problem.

not gonna give my opinion about anything else (other than that April was 100% made a teen so Donnie could be into her and she could 'possibly' be into him, seeing as a lot, if not all of 2012's writers were kids when 87 tmnt came out, a lot of them also have a thing for April and the jumpsuit, so using Donnie as the insert for these nerdy, dweeby writers, makes sense, unforch) but i will say, no. Raph isn't this much of an asshole, usually. i think that throughout the years he's less 'cool and rude' and more 'angry and insecure', because being a silly witty little guy wasn't cool in the 2010's! you had to be tough and rumbly! but also, still a little witty. i will say though, that i think that they kept the core of Raph in mind, from what i've seen. Raph is big into loving his family, it's pretty tough love, but the 2012 team was very 'stay out of my room or i'll beat you to death' and while, not my favie dynamic, Raph's characterization worked for it. and in all honesty, if your Raph doesn't wholehearted love their family, in their own way, that's not Raphie. i will say, not my favorite Raph, but i think he gets a lot calmer throughout the show, and is so fucking cute with Mona Lisa (sorry i can't remember her real name off the top of my head, haven't gotten that far in the series)
