Fuji XT3 kit black + grip + a few accessories on mediamarkt’s website all at sales pricing conditions. The whole lot of stuff cost me less than the price of a XT3 kit at any local vendor. 

I’m all for the survival of local vendors, but in the case of photography it’s been quite a while since small local vendors have had any additional service justifying a €500+ difference on a price tag. 

I’ll roll with capitalism on this one, thank you very much.

I’ve also got a mind of getting myself a stabilising crane before summer if I like the video workflow with the XT3. But I’m especially excited to enjoy taking pictures on a new system with technology fit for this new decade.

Going to Norway in spring for søttende mai and then my brother’s wedding in Hamburg. I’ll know my way around the camera at that point (and hopefully none of my kids will have damaged it — knocking on wood). Still not sure about this blog’s life though, but at least you can count on some picture drops here and there. 

Next year I’ll also be on the lookout for a D500 body, I got loads of Nikon glass and the D500 as a photo camera is a beast too but really lacks video-wise. 

Basically I’m eyeing the D500 for the potential of extra sharp pictures of animals (CROWS!), sports (aka my kids running and the occasional kendo championship) and portraits, that’s it. 

By next year I expect to start finding used ones for less than a k. The XT3 and the D500 will complement each other nicely and will be adequate backups for each other as well.
