Okay now I have a problem. You can whomp some commoner kid for half-assing his runny nose, you can whomp your daughter. I kid. I love how we balance this forceful orator with a loving mother. Any scene with Otohime and the kids is so heartfelt, one of them we’ll get to even being legitimately one of my favorite moments in the series. Young Shirahoshi and her brothers are so cute! They’re a group of siblings that don’t really get the credit they deserve, I quite like the group dynamic they bring to the table. Shirahoshi is fun and her brothers are all very noble.

Ryuboshi: idk the voice acting has just the right amount of gravitas and I like his character design and just something about the middle Fish Prince I vibe with muchly.

Dosun: my guy with the verbal tics changing as he powers up with confidence XD he’s a delight every time he appears on screen.

Zeo: absolute fool. Bonafide doofus. Why is here? Well he’s just absurd that’s why.

Fisher Tiger: what a complex figure. He hates humans and was enslaved by them and his bitterness will never change but he won’t let that bitterness poison the future nor the young ones he leaves behind

Otohime: it is goddamn difficult to have optimism for a bright future when everything and everyone around is fighting against it or just doesn’t believe in it. But girl never stopped believing even at her worst. But she wasn’t naive and knew the risks and the sentiment. But like Fisher Tiger, she didn’t want to spoil the thoughts of the younger generation so they could do so much better than they ever did.
